U.A. High School
Timemark: [Twenty Years Ago]
(Principal Nezu's Office)
U.A. High School. A school that is highly claimed to be the best school for children to train to become upstanding heroes. Only the best of the best with quirks that can benefit hero society go to obtain skills to rescue people and defeat villains. Some join to become the next number-one hero, others join for fame, glory, and fortune, and others join because they want to save people. Yes, U.A. High was the perfect place for the next generation of children to fulfill their wishes and become the next number one hero…well almost everyone, as a certain dark-skinned cat girl with short purple-colored hair was currently in Principal Nezu's Office with Nezu sitting behind his desk and annoyed Nemuri who was covered in glitter.
"Rebecca Spring, I believe you know why you're here?" Nezu asked as he stared at Rebecca with a disappointed expression on his face.
"Was it because of the secret stash of candy I've been hiding around the school?" She asked which Nezu shook his head.
"No, though I will have a separate conversation about that later. I'm rather disappointed in you. I get that you have your dislike of Nemuri, but what you did was inexcusable."
"Oh come on. What we did wasn't so bad. I didn't hurt on a physical level." Rebecca said while casually looking off to the side.
"Pranking Nemuri for a solid week non-stop isn't a prank. It's borderline harassment." Nezu said. "You crossed the line by hitting her with a bombardment of glitter bombs."
"Which was well deserved given what happened to me during last week's training exercise." She said before showing him a whip mark on her stomach by lifting her school uniform shirt. "What kind of a person attacks the victor from behind after losing? Especially with a whip no less!?"
"Oh quit being such a baby, It didn't hurt that much," Nemuri said as the principal sighed.
"Which I can understand, but how we punish students is up to the teachers and me, not up to you." He said, which caused Rebecca to speak up.
"Yeah, and how's that working for you?" She said as Nezu deadpans her.
"I will do my best to rectify that issue as time goes on, but that's still no excuse for what you did," Nezu said before leaning back in his seat. "As punishment for assault on another student, you will be tasked to clean up the training course gamma for the next three weeks without using your quirks."
"Three weeks!? You can't be serious? You can't expect me to clean all that up without using my quirk!?" Rebecca yelled.
"You will have certain equipment needed for cleaning up. If normal people can clean up the destruction of a villain's attack, then you can do the same." Nezu answered before standing in front of the trio. "Any work you miss during class, you'll make it up by taking night classes."
"Of course, why not. Because I'll be able to stay up after cleaning up the mess in Gamma" Rebecca said in a sarcastic tone.
"If you think you'll be getting out of this punishment like the other times, then you're sadly mistaken. I have informed your parents about this, and they agree with it. Maybe next time you'll learn from this so you won't let this happen again."
"You teachers are expecting too much from us students,"
"You'll start after lunch. I would suggest you don't skip out like you usually do. Because if you do, then I can expel you from the hero course and place you in a different course. You two are excused. I do hope you learn from this and never do anything like that ever again." The moment Nezu said that Rebecca and Nemuri exited the room. Once outside, they began making their way down the hallway as Nemuri spoke first.
"Seriously, you're the worst. And I don't mean that in a way it's a compliment, but what is wrong with you?" She asked.
"You and I both know what you did was an underhanded move. You know I won that match fair and square without using any underhanded tricks like I usually do." Rebecca answered. "And what do I get in return, a surprise whip attack to the stomach."
"You must've cheated somehow. Everyone knows about how your parents were leaders of a small yakuza group, so it shouldn't be a surprise that their daughter would do the same."
"Are you kidding? All you had was a whip and knockout fumes that worked more on men than women. All I had to do was hold my breath, knock the whip out of your hand, and knock your ass out with a punch to your face. Not my fault your plan didn't go as well as you wanted."
"Whatever, you may have won that fight, but don't think this changes anything. Next time we meet, I won't lose to you again." Nemuri said as she walked past Rebecca while bumping her shoulder against her.
"Seriously, U.A. High is too lax when it comes to letting people join." Rebecca said before letting out a sigh of annoyance.
"It might help if you didn't make most people angry at you." said a voice coming from behind her. The cat girl turns around to see a fox girl with short red hair, black-rimmed glasses, U.A. uniform similar to that of Rebecca only the jacket part of the uniform wasn't tied around her waist leaning against the wall. "So how did it go with Nezu?"
"Not so great…I'm gonna be cleaning field gamma, without the use of my quirk."
"Serious? Man, you must have made him more angry than before." The fox girl said before making her way over to Rebecca. "Need me to make an escape route like last time?"
"Much as I would like for you to do that Claudia, but he already talked with my parents…and threatened to kick me out of the hero course if I skipped out on this." She said which caused Claudia to whistle in astonishment.
"Man, he really must have a bone to pick with you. Well, more with your parents given their background with him, but I suppose it shouldn't surprise you. If they can't go after the man himself, then why not go after the daughter. " Claudia said before placing an arm around Rebecca's shoulder. "But that also means we can mess with them just as we've been doing since we got here."
"Jeez, you are a bad influencer~," Rebecca said before feeling herself being led down the hallway by Claudia.
"Not my fault I give some interesting advice. Sadly I can't give you any advice for this kind of punishment that wouldn't involve you getting kicked out of the hero course."
"Sucks, but what can you do?" She said before looking over at the windows they were walking by. "I get the feeling you're going to be by my side with refreshments, aren't you?"
"We've been friends since preschool back in America. Of course, I'm going to be by your side with food." Claudia answered. "Plus, I'm sure you need some assistance in making some of the rubble vanish without them noticing."
"...Yeah I'm gonna need you to help me with that."
"I figured as much." She said before removing her arm from around Rebecca as she took the lead. "Let's make a quick pit stop to the girl's bathroom before lunch."
"What for? It's not like I need to use the bathroom or anything."
"You may not, but I do." She said before moving behind Rebecca and pushing her to the restroom. "Plus I need someone that doesn't annoy me in there to talk to."
"I suppose I don't have much of a choice in that matter…Though I don't like it." She said before being pushed into the girl's bathroom. Upon entering the girl's bathroom, a sense of dread and anxiety hit her stomach hard. It felt like something big was about to happen, but Rebecca couldn't tell what it was that caused it. "Say, do you have some kind of sinking feeling? Like something or someone is watching us?"
"Hm? No, not that I can see." Claudia said before walking over to the open stall to see if anyone was inside them. So far, there wasn't anyone inside any of the stalls, though she would notice two of the stalls being a darker color than each other. "Huh, did you ever notice the last two stalls being of a different color?"
"I don't know, I never pay much attention to the stalls. Mainly because I try not to stay in them for that long." Rebecca said before making her way over to where Claudia was standing. Just as she stood next to her friend, the sense of dread intensified even more as the cat girl could feel the hair on the back of her neck. "Yeah, we should leave. Something doesn't feel right here."
"How bad are we talking about? Like on a scale of one to ten?"
"On a scale of one to ten, I would have to say twenty. Like the time when we got in trouble for going into my father's studies."
"Okay, yeah. Let's leave before something bad happens." She said before grabbing Rebecca by the hand and leading her out of the bathroom. Just as they were about to leave the bathroom, Rebecca felt her footing giveaway as she felt herself sinking through the floor. If it was not for her holding onto Claudia's hands, then she would've fallen through completely. The moment Claudia felt Rebecca sinking into the ground, she turned her attention towards her friend as her eyes widened upon seeing half her body phasing through the floor. "The hell!?"
"Claudia, please tell me this is your quirk's doing?" Rebecca asked in a fearful tone in her voice as the fox girl tried to pull her friend out of the floor. Before the fox girl could answer, their attention was soon drawn to their surroundings as the bathroom could be seen acting out of control. To be more accurate, the walls began to look statically, the mirrors hanging above the sinks faded in and out of reality, the toilets were becoming misshapen and warped, and the lights flickered on and off.
"I may be able to control space, but even I know I can't do anything like this!" She answered while trying to pull Rebecca out of the ground. As she was doing this, she soon felt herself sinking into the floor which caused her to panic even more before screaming. "Crap! Now I'm sinking!?"
"Quick, use your quirk to teleport us out of here!" Rebecca yelled as the fox girl's hand gave off a magenta color glow as she gathered spatial energy into her hands. The moment she could feel her quirk was about to activate, the energy she had gathered instantly vanished within nanoseconds. The two stared at her hand for a moment before noticing Claudia looking at Rebecca with an expression at read "We're so fucked." or "Better pray to whoever you believe."
It was here that the two tried whatever means it was to try and escape their sinking demise. They would try reaching for something to grab, but their hands would phase through them. They tried struggling out of the floor, but that just made things worse as they sank even more. Claudia even tried to use her quirk once again, but just like before it was canceled out. Or more accurately, it was more like it was erased from reality. Within a matter of a minute of their struggling, the two could feel themselves sinking more into the ground until their heads were left standing. They both looked at each other as they could see the fear in each other's eyes, more so with Claudia as Rebecca could see tears running down her face.
"D-Don't worry, w-whatever happens. I'll figure a way out of this, I promise." Claudia said before feeling her mouth sink into the floor. Rebecca could only nod and give her friend a weak smile before seeing her vanish though the floor.
"I-I knew I should've run away from home when I had the chance," Rebecca said before feeling herself sinking into the floor as her vision faded into darkness.
