After reading "I'm Here", from the lovely Heart of Genovia, I asked her if I could write a one-shot of Charlotte's phone call to Helen. She said yes, and I am happy to present to you: a companion piece! To one of the best, this is for you, my friend!
Disclaimer: I take no credit for "I'm Here", that belongs solely to Heart of Genovia. I own nothing of the PD books or films. All I own is a creative imagination, the need for fanfiction, and the fear that I use too many commas. I also took a small creative liberty with Mia knowing she is royal and spending summers in Genovia with her royal family.
Philippe, the Crown Prince of Genovia, died in a car accident.
Charlotte was devastated that the man who was like a brother to her was gone. All because of a drunk driver who hit the driver's side door after running a stop light.
Charlotte was saddened yes, but not as much as the Queen and after making a phone call to America, Philippe's ex-fiancee, Helen and their daughter, Amelia. After watching her Queen breakdown into gut-wrenching sobs, she was ordered to make one of the hardest phone calls she had ever had to make.
"Is this Helen?"
"Yes... Charlotte, is that you?"
Charlotte took a deep, stuttering breath. "Yes. Look... th-there's been an accident."
Helen's heart skipped a beat. "Is Clarisse okay? What happened?"
"It's Philippe. He-he's gone, Helen."
This made Helen's heart stop with excruciating pain. Her ex-fiancèe, the man she once loved, her daughter's father, was gone.
"How?"
"I cannot say over the phone because your line isn't secure. Her Majesty's jet has been sent to collect you and Mia."
"Oh. Oh," Helen sobbed. How was she supposed to tell Mia?
The flight to Genovia was long and the atmosphere was tense. Helen stared straight ahead of her, unblinking. Mia, she was sat at the back of the jet, clutching her cat, Fat Louie, like he was a life line, as she stared out of the window. Both of them were silently crying over it.
Now that Philippe was gone, would that mean that Mia would be the next heir to the Genovian throne? There were a lot of questions that needed answered, but first, they needed to grieve.
If this is well received, there might be more chapters. It all depends on feedback. I hope you liked this short oneshot.
