Lily Luna Potter, currently in her first year at Hogwarts, was sitting by the Black Lake waiting for her eldest brother, James Sirius Potter, who had promised to meet her by the black lake for a chat after his Care of Magical Creatures class.

"Hi, James, " said Lily happily as she saw her brother approach.

"Good afternoon, James, " replied Lily cheerfully, "How did your Care of Magical Creatures class go?"

"Lily, I have big news, " said James matter of factly.

"Which is?" asked Lily.

"Lily, Hagrid is resigning his post as Care of Magical Creatures professor after this school year, " explained James.

"You said resigned, not retired, " said Lily thoughtfully, "Do that mean he will still be gamekeeper?"

"Nope, " said James mysteriously.

After a pause to let Lily think a bit, James revealed, "Lily, starting this September, Hagrid is taking a new job as the new headmaster of Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures."

"What is Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures?" Lily asked James, "I've never heard of it, but it sounds like a school Hagrid would like."

"Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures is a magical school that focuses heavily of Care of Magical Creatures, " said James clearly, "The students who attend Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures are students who KNOW they want their careers to be in the field of Care of Magical Creatures."

"So do their students spend all day every day on Care of Magical Creatures?" inquired Lily with a smirk.

"No, " grinned James, "But it is the core of their curriculum. The students get three hours of Care of Magical Creatures every weekday and Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures students learn about many more creatures than we do, including dangerous creatures such as manticores and chimeras. "

"Oh, " smirked Lily, "Hagrid will love that. I guess their old headmaster is retiring at the end of the year then?"

"Yes, " confirmed James, "Hagrid is really excited for this opportunity."

Lily took a few minutes for this to sink in and said, "I can't help feel a little sad. I'm too young to take Care of Magical Creatures even next year. But Hagrid is a very dear friend and I do enjoy visiting his hut. I'm going to miss Hagrid. But there couldn't be a better opportunity for Hagrid than to be the leader of a school that focuses on magical creatures. From my point of view, it's bittersweet. Best of luck to Hagrid."

"I'm going to miss him too, " admitted James, "But he's got to do what's best for him. It's also worth noting that the salary for the headmaster of Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures is greater than the salary for being the Care of Magical Creatures teacher at Hogwarts. Bear in mind that Hagrid was offered this position in the first place because of his knowledge of magical creatures."

"It all fits, " realized Lily, "Hagrid's been working towards his post as headmaster of Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures all his life even though he doesn't fully realize it."

There were a few minutes of calm silence while brother and sister walked around the Black Lake together.

Suddenly, James belted out, 'APRIL FOOLS!"

Lily suddenly froze and a stunned expression came over her face.

"I got you good!" smiled James.

"S- so?" said Lily in a startled voice, "It was a prank? There actually is no Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures?"

"Yep, " grinned James, "Man, I really had you believing there really was a Wingsfeather School of Magical Creatures and that Hagrid was going to become headmaster there. The stunned look on your face when I revealed it was an April Fools prank is priceless."

"You TOTALLY got me on that one, " conceded Lily, "That delay between your story and you saying April Fools actually made it even more stunning when you revealed it was a prank."

"I got the upper hand on you, sis, " said James proudly.

"The story was so plausible and that's what made it so effective, " said Lily.

"I've had my fun, " said James in a somewhat more serious voice, "But I tell you what, Lily, I've got treats for both of us."

James dug into his left pocket and dug out a slab of Honeydukes chocolate and a bottle of Budweiser and handed them to Lily while retrieving a slab of Honeydukes chocolate and a bottle of Budweiser for himself from his right pocket.

For the next few minutes, James and Lily happily munched away on their Honeydukes chocolate and sipped on their Budweisers while still walking around the Black Lake.

James and Lily had always enjoyed messing with each other and it gave James immense satisfaction to have pulled off an April Fool's Prank on his little sister but there always was that genuine closeness between them as well.

Both were epitomized by the Black Lake on this April Fool's Day.
