Harry pov

My whole body hurt.

My muscles were painfully tense, and my chest felt heavy. My back was raw from my Uncle's whip and even just wearing a shirt made it burn in pain. I winced as I made my way to an empty compartment. Hermione and the Weasleys had been avoiding me ever since the final battle. And I wasn't sure why.

I sat down, careful not to rub my back against the seat. Gods it hurt to sit. I quickly cast glamour charms over my body to hide the bruises and cuts, also to make myself look a little less like the walking dead. My hands had a slight tremor to them.

Just then, my compartment door opened, revealing Draco Malfoy. I looked up wearily. "Hello Malfoy." Draco looked nervous for a second, but it was gone just as fast as it came. "Hey Potter. I uh would like to thank you for saving my life in the ROR, and for testifying for my parents. Without you, all three of us would have been shipped off to Azkaban." I blushed as I gazed into those sincere silver eyes. "It was nothing…… you deserve your freedom. Your father a spy and your mother saved my life. We might have not won the war without your family's help." Draco's blush now mirrored my own. "I-I would like to start over and maybe be friends if that's ok. I-I'm really sorry for how I treated you."

I quickly looked Draco over, checking for any signs that he was being dishonest. Draco squirmed very unMalfoylike under my scrutiny. Relieved that he was sincere, I reached out my hand towards Draco. "Hi. My name is Harry Potter. What's yours?" Draco grins. "My name is Draco Malfoy. It's nice to meet you Harry." I tried to smile back but pain is evident in my eyes. I felt Draco study me with concern. "Are you okay?" "Oh uhm…. I'm fine." I scratched the back of my neck and my sleeve fell a little, revealing red lines across my wrist. I quickly fixed my shirt, inwardly cursing myself for forgetting to glamour my wrists. The cuts certainly didn't go unnoticed by Draco but he feigned ignorance.

"Well, I better be going to my compartment. I'll see you around Harry!" "Bye Draco." After Draco left the compartment, I sighed and gazed out the window at the dreary sky. *Rather ironic weather if you ask me. Ron and Hermione still haven't come looking for me, though I can't say I expected they would. They haven't sent me a letter all summer, and didn't even try to speak to me after the battle. They simply pretended I never existed.* And that hurt more than anything. Fred and George had owled me, which made me very grateful. Mrs. Weasley hadn't even sent her usual care packages that summer, but Fred and George had remembered and sent me some Honeydukes to keep me from starving.

As the scenery changed around me, tears welled up in my eyes. Though I never let them fall.
