Rushing through the front lines, Miriam wouldn't allow this plague to spread any further. Several questions were flourishing in her mind, regarding the origins of these monsters, the limits on their strength and if they could even kill them. The more these dinosaurs ate, the more the angels became aware of their situation. Mere extermination was not an option anymore, as their numbers and brutality were too heavy a burden for the exorcists to shoulder. They were forced to try a different method. Rather than advance upon the enemy, they sought to contain this threat solely to the ring of pride. The angels attempted to lure the monsters towards points of control to pick off individual sections of the horde as efficiently as their distracting forces would allow. This task was challenging, as these creatures were violently aggressive toward their opposition. And whatever fell from the conflict was not gifted with a rest to recover from the fight and rejuvenate, as the monsters devour the flesh as soon as it hits the demonic land, a gut wrenching and quite morale shattering sight.
Whatever joy manifested from their futile efforts, was washed away by pain and surprise as more monsters began to spring forward from the bodies of angels. Small velociraptors-like creatures emerged from several angels caught in the fire of their rifles. Immediately submitting to their natural hunger, the newborns began immediately consuming their hosts, adding to their losses. As their new numbers began to devour their prey, the remaining celestials had no choice. Retreat was their only option, where they could report their failure and prepare a stronger opposition against the pandemic. She wanted to protect this population from this new nightmare like she protected her brother God knows how long ago. But their abilities, their unwavering hunger, sheer animalistic barbarity was too much for the angels to handle. A terrifying thought to behold: the idea now manifests that heaven itself may not be safe.
As if their day had not been drenched in dread, the next event caused pure horror to manifest in her heart. As they neared the entrance to heaven, the sight of a cyclone of fire burning away her sisters defending the South and West sides of the pentagram was rising beyond what their eyes allowed them to observe. From the distance, Miriam can make out a humanoid shape with wings as big as a person and the armor of some medieval knight, yet somehow modern-esk. Her golden aura was daunting to witness, even as she tossed a spear into Heaven's portal before causing it to erupt, closing the gateway as a result of its explosion. Miriam could not react to this with anything important. Rage began to overturn caution, as half of the REMAINING exorcists were charging at this latest threat.
As a reminder to their obliviousness, a snap of this woman's fingers summoned a wall of fire that incinerated the incoming assault. Miriam could hardly make out the bellows from her sisters as the pyre consumed them. Those that were able to power through this potency found the heathen angel to be quite skilled in physical combat. If they were not slain swiftly with the bite of this black blade soon turning aureate as its covered in their ichor, the exorcists felt the unyielding hands and relentless greaves that the nephilim utilized to brutal results.
Miriam turned to Lute, hoping she had any response to 2 forces conquering Hell, hoping she made a plan to deal with this new threat. Miriam could see the emotions blending through her commander's face. Pain, anger, shock, then despair. Not surprising to her, Lute ordered what was left of her armada to hide. Tens of thousands followed her lead, whereas there were millions called in for extermination. The embassy Heaven settled long ago down in the center will serve as an adequate fortification until reinforcements can rescue them. Until then…the angels have lost.
…
Hiding in her corner, Charlie could hardly respond coherently to this situation. Everything she worked hard to defend was being devoured! The princess sees a velociraptor slowly approach her, its jaw opening wide revealing its vicious rows of teeth. The teeth are stained in golden ichor from their former prey, with eyes dilated as their next meal was before them. Everything Charlie feared was coming to life. And now, several were getting close to her as well. The sight of smoke was conjuring from her body, as she began to transform, mending all previous wounds as her powers were unhindered. Enraged by the whole situation, she summoned her strength and punched the ground so hard it opened rifts in the ground, giant holes that devoured the incoming horde. She could hear the screams as they fell to their demise, the cries of creatures begging…as in, more than animals.
Now to save her people. Charlie rushed through the streets of Pentagon City, seeing if anyone was able to bunker down and survive. The sight of several cars in front of a weapon shop gave the princess hope. Multiple demons were gunning down the velociraptors with rifles seemingly from one of Carmilla's shipments. But they just kept coming. Just how many were there? As they held their ground, the sight of a bulkier beast caught their as tough as a tank, their bullets were just flying off the monster. It charged through the store's defenses, ripping apart the cars like an explosive bowling ball. The sinners either yelled as they made their last stand, or fled facing more of the invasion.
Charlie wasn't going to take this, grabbing onto this special monster with her enhanced strength and throwing into the ground. It was still squirming, but it was still alive. Good enough to her. A swarm of velociraptors surrounds her, making Charlie wonder how she'll deal with them. Then among their numbers was something she's seen before. The giant with four bladed arms and a horn on its head, with the scar from Vaggie's attack and everything. Rage fills her up, as she wonders how to best cover the creature's guts all over the city. Then…another thought came about…one that would most likely be crazy. Or it may just be the solution to everything.
Her magic summons a barrier that prevents everything else from coming in. Only her and the T-rex were in. The beast charges in, making Charlie use her strength on the T-rex feels its claws bouncing off her blocks, before it kicks the princess against the wall. It charged in again, hoping to catch her while she's down. Charlie could see it was certainly relentless, but was it smart? Fire ignites on the ground as she summons her powers to knock this monster through the nearest building, causing it to bleed continuously. It was no longer a threat.
Charlie saw the responses from the dinosaurs, recognizing she was able to take them down without restraints. They backed off, checking on their larger counterpart, only to maintain their distance once the demon nears her "prey". The T-rex was able to stand up, only for its wounds to knock it back down onto the floor. She sees it backing away, possibly with hope it will survive. Charlie sees this desperation, and hopes it can feel it in others. She laid a hand on the wounds, causing the monster to wince but is otherwise still. A chant is spoken, and the flesh begins to reform. The monster's eyes widened as something it recognized as a threat was…doing the opposite? Charlie raised her hand, and placed it on its head. Rather than biting it off like any other source of food, the T-rex submitted to the sign of control.
"We are not food." Charlie hoped this creature could understand her. At that moment, she could feel a connection. More than one shared with a normal beast. It was like…a shadow cast over her. A single response was heard, not in tongue but rather in mind. "Yes you are." This revelation scared her. There were no words to describe this feeling of doom chilling down her spine. The barrier she conjured to defend herself fell, and the dinosaurs moved in swiftly. She was ready to fight, but she saw something she hadn't noticed before: how the beasts were…communicating. Charlie could feel the discussion on whether or not Charlie should be eaten, and yet was started by how mouth was completely unnecessary. Truly, these creatures were alien.
As if she triggered some form of trap, Charlie felt her grip on Hell slip away from her as she was removed from it. Panic filled her mind before something truly spectacular befell her eyes. A galaxy filled with stars. The titans of the cosmos twinkling in the distance with…something akin to signals from satellites. This wasn't just a visit to outer space. It was a relationship between an endless number of she was invited to it. So surreal, so exciting! Charlie was in contact with alien life in a dimension never before explored! She could feel the many eyes piercing through her, taking a look at their new organism, wondering if it was prey or predator. At least, that's what Charlie could take away from it.
"Where am I?" Charlie could hear a symphony of thoughts pondering how to respond. "You are guest. A fracture of what once was beautiful…and complete." Such cryptic speech was initially startling. The princess could barely recognize this mode of speech, something that chilled her spine. And yet, her curiosity was overriding her fear. She was provided a chance of a lifetime to understand these beasts, probably a bigger endeavor than she realizes. Wouldn't be the first time. "Who are you?" Another ringing in her ears indicated the creatures were debating. "Prey has called us Tyranids." Of course those who focus on their stomachs their entire lives would be called Tyrants.
"Why…are you scared?" To think she would have a clear answer from these creatures that have done nothing but ravage the land she grew up in. Now she was listening to their minds pondering the correct response to this. "Once, we were whole. We were connected to something greater than ourselves." As if this hivemind wasn't enough to deal with, the idea of it once being bigger made Charlie gulp. And now, they were oblivious to Hell's ways. She could sympathize with the creatures, despite everything. "But you don't need to kill us. You are dead. You can do as you wish. You don't need to hurt anyone. We're not a threat to you!" A part of her was wondering why she was acting crazy. These creatures already made up their minds. Do they even know what mercy is?
"And live for what? We…are alone. We…are nothing." "But if we expand…we can start our own family, fill what we have lost." With that, Charlie could almost feel a similarity to the Heaven and Hell problem. While not exact, seeing the presence of a large number of people robbed of their previous lives, never to come back. It was unfair, and something Charlie hoped she could remedy. Still, she has loyalty to her people. They take priority over the invaders. But with a little song in her heart…she could have both.
"It's very difficult…I can relate. Of what it means to be lost.
You're on a different boat, fear conjugate, family in sight is nought.
But there's a path without bloodshed
Where there is peace among the dead.
You keep speaking of this life, yet we do not know how this can be rife.
Look at the world, so peaceful and quite sweet
A mother caring for her son, wouldn't that be neat (Mother?)
A world the humans filled with love, all desires met in this land above.
A simple life, this paradise, what we can make down here if we tried.
Shapes of small prey, in thin boxes, a chorus of your big dreams
To speak of this utopia is fantasy it seems.
Empathy. That's all it takes.
Empathy? So low are the stakes.
To be in the other's shoes, come on what do you have to lose?
When you're already dead, it's shouldn't be hard to spread
A little empathy and give fear a good break.
Empathy? To see others as yourself
Oh, I see. It's how the humans delve
Into each other's hearts and form connections.
But to spare such food, there will be objections!
Such ignorant analogies, do you hear yourselves?
Food, we're more than that! We're sentient!
I urge you, please come to your senses.
The several lights in the sky flicker, as discussion rages on. Charlie had never heard quite a heated debate with humans before. So intense, it was as if the stars were melding into a quasar. With tens of billions of lives bickering as to how to resolve this predicament, Charlie's hopes for peace dwindled. Then, the unthinkable happens, and the cosmos becomes silent.
"We have reached a consensus."
…
Come on legs, keep moving! Angel ran as long as her legs allowed him. Whether or not it would do anything meant nothing to him. An incoming swarm of dinosaurs was approaching the hotel. Husker and Alastor were doing all they could to delay the invasion, but in the end that was all they could do. Rushing up the stairs, the sinner was hindered only by the debris of what was once a car thrown in his way. Some strange monster with two bladed appendages and tentacles all over its face was the first to rush in, with many more like it with various traits. A giant shield covers the hotel, preventing more from coming in. But the ones that are in are wreaking havoc in the building. Walls easily fall, every stomp leaves a crater in the floor, and their fangs are rapidly approaching their prey.
Alastor chuckles, humming a song Angel either never heard or couldn't remember at this moment, most likely a Great Depression song. The bee's knees certainly weren't on his legs, but a smile and a song suggested he had any power to stop these bugs. Shadows and tentacles were able to defend him by ripping them apart and removing him from areas of good pressure. The Radio Demon was on his tippy hooves, but his calm posture was helping show off his attempts of control over the infestation.
Angel couldn't look back. He didn't want to invite any more doubt that he was going to make it. Just as he made it towards the third floor, something absolutely spectacular happened before his eyes. It was one of those cursed dinosaurs! With a mouth bigger than those special servicemen Val sometimes uses for "limited edition shoots." Huge mandibles and claws were flying towards…something. Initially, it wasn't Angel so he wouldn't care. Though, the sight of Nifty keeping up with this creature by holding onto the intestines like a leash on a rabid dog. A disturbing cackle followed by the eye's pupil dilating as her sewing needles are repeatedly buried into the flesh of this monster. The cackles are intensifying in volume as the maid makes sure that the dinosaur was dead properly. "That will teach you to treat me like a second fiddle, Fredrick! I KNOW YOU KEPT GOING TO THE WHORE HOUSE!" At that point, Angel couldn't tell which monster was worse.
After the epicness of Nifty ripping apart a vicious beast, Angel had no more time to waste. There were more of those giants among the horde and they were getting closer to the only thing that matters. Oh, what if he's late? What if they got to_? A slap from his own hand removed Angel from his fears. SNAP OUT OF IT, FRUITY BOOTY! Room 318! That's his room! Angel opens the door, and gabs the bag labeled "Nutting 2 Dust."
As she looks under the bed, she sees the pig still alive, shivering on the floor. "FAT NUGGETS!" His joyous exclamation with nugget's squealing worries Angel, as they may have alerted the monsters to their location. The addict reaches for one more set of items, the drums filled with holy bullets for dealing with exorcists. To think he would need them again so soon. Hell's just gotten too crazy apparently. He slid Fat Nuggets into the bag, and ran off. The hotel wasn't safe anymore. The place he defended with his life, called it his home away from work. To think he'd be at rock bottom again. He saw the exorcist attack fail, and even Alastor was struggling before he left him. At least he wasn't running into any of those dinosaurs again.
A swarm of white monsters with the blasted purple carapaces roamed the 3'rd floor, as if to mock Angel's hopes. A sigh fell out her lung as the beasts noticed him. Gunfire fills the hall as Angel will ensure Nugget's safety, no matter what. The dinosaurs rush him, taking multiple slugs to sleep with the fishes. The tommy guns only had so much ammo, and the monsters were getting closer. Angels rushed toward a window, hoping the monsters below will be easier to deal with than the ones in the hotel. As if on time to crush his dreams, a winged beast swoops through the halls, and grabs onto the porn star with its talons digging into his flesh. Angel felt his body being grabbed off the floor and thrown against the wall, only to be snatched again. Angel could tell it could smell his package, as it was attempting to go for the lower arms where Angel was keeping him safe.
Angel uses his upper left arm to try and grab this unholy beast, only for it to be chomped on by its jaws. Of course having your arm being devoured isn't supposed to be fun, but Angel couldn't imagine the sheer amount of pain he was going through. He could feel the bone snap in two! As the beast was-ughh….eating his arm, Angel lit it up with two extra arms holding two more tommies. There goes his chances. Seeing no way for him to survive, Angel tosses the case through the window, on top of the nearest building. Hopefully, Fat Nuggets will live through this invasion. Hope, he had to cling to whatever delusions could fill his mind. He closed his eyes, hoping it would make being eaten alive easier. Or, at the very least quicker.
…that actually worked? Angel looked around, to see the monsters retreating. The way they move suggested they were not in a hurry, and yet just seconds ago they were trying to eat went out to see the hotel staff, sharing his confusion with the situation. Vaggie was resting in the locked up medical room, Husker was looking into his bottle with concern, Alastor was giving a discontent grin, Nifty was hollering as she thought she was the reason for this withdrawal. Lucifer shows up to deal with the issue, holding the hotel as his last bastion the bugs wouldn't claim. And yet, half way from succeeding, they just…stop. Confusion fills the halls, with the drug addict being the first to break the ice.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!"
