Back with the gang, Mystery Inc, Scorcher, Willow, and Braedey now arrived at what looked to be an old jungle setting. The place looked far ancient, almost like what life would've been around 65 million years ago. There were many ferns around, with the sky looking to be a reddish-orange, no doubt indicating a sunset of sorts, while tall trees and ferns could be seen around them.
"This place beats Rome any old day, huh, buddy?" Shaggy chuckled, and Scooby agreed.
"Where are we?" Daphne asked.
"Some kind of jungle?" Fred suggested.
"Maybe, but I'm not sure." Velma observed.
"It's gorgeous here." Willow said, looking to trees.
"I'll say." Scorcher agreed, but he could sense something was wrong about this place.
Suddenly, a loud screeching could be heard, and the gang looked to see a pterodactyl soaring down towards them! Scorcher immediately tackled the gang down to the ground as the large flying reptile flew by them, and headed back up into the sky.
"Oh, no! This is a prehistoric jungle!" Velma realised.
"Oh, come on! Why a prehistoric jungle?!" Willow asked.
"I take it back. Rome is lovely this time of year." Shaggy corrected himself.
"We must be somewhere during the Mesozoic Era, around 245 to 65 million years ago." Scorcher deduced. "Maybe theCretaceous Periodis where we're at."
"Hey. Look over there!" Fred looked over and he now noticed an apatosaurus feeding on some leaves of a tree, minding its own business.
"Don't worry about that dinosaur, guys... It's a vegetarian, so it won't get you." Scorcher reassured to Braedey, Scooby and Shaggy.
"That's good to hear." Braedey sighed to himself. "I'd rather not run into anything that can eat a human being..."
Just then, they all heard the thumping of an impact tremor, and it sounded like something was approaching fast. Scorcher and Braedey looked to a puddle nearby, and they could see fine rings forming as the impacts could be heard and coursed through the ground. Shaggy and Scooby now looked away, and they got instantly scared when they saw The Phantom Virus charging in, armed with a sharp rock spear, and riding on the back of a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
"What's that?!" Shaggy cried out.
"How's this for a heavy hitter?" The Phantom Virus taunted with a wicked laugh.
"That sounds like a line that a pitcher would say." Willow said.
"Jinkies!" Velma cried. "He's riding a T-Rex!"
"Apex predator..." Scorcher added. "10 tonnes of muscle on two legs with a head full of railroad spike teeth..."
"Head for the trees!" Braedey cried.
"Braedey's right! Let's head to the trees!" Willow called before running along. "It's too thick for that thing to chase us through! Come on!"
They gang began to follow Braedey and Willow into the thickest of the forest so they could get away from the T-Rex and hopefully wouldn't get eaten. The T-Rex stopped by the trees and snarled as it couldn't get in through, seeing its prey running away into the depths of the jungle.
The Phantom groaned in misfortune. "HEEYAH!" It then threw his spear, but luckily, it didn't hit any of the gang as they were able to escape and the spear goes right through a tree trunk.
"Whew, that was close." Terrence said as they were watching what was happening up on the big screen. He, Eric, Professor Kaufman, Billy, and Officer Wembly have been watching the gang in action since they found them inside of the game, and have been waiting patiently.
"I'll say." Eric added.
"They're doing pretty good so far." Officer Wembly had to admit. "You know, I'm wondering something here, fellas. Who activated that laser and sent those poor kids into the game?" He then asked to the scientists.
"Who knows?" Billy shrugged to this.
"It could've been anyone." Terrence added.
"Even somevun in zhis very room..." Professor Kaufman looked suspicious.
"Yeah, but who would want to do such a terrible thing?" Terrence asked to everyone.
They all decided to think it over, studying the others, but not blaming one or the other since that was childish. All the while, they watched and waited to see what will happen.
Back in the video game, hiding inside of a dinosaur cave, the Mystery Inc gang had just made a fire as they made shelter inside of a cave while Scooby and Shaggy were making some drawings on the cave walls to pass the time.
"We've hiked through miles of the jungle, and we still can't find the Scooby Snacks!" Daphne cried, huddling close to the fire.
"We'd better or else we'll be stuck in this level forever." Velma added in concern.
"On top of that, we'd have to find something to eat, while also dodging dinosaurs of untold strength and size." Scorcher stated to them.
"I'm already frightened of what could happen." Braedey muttered, Willow holding him close to give him comfort.
"All I know is that this Phantom likes to scare us in this world just as much in the real world." Shaggy said.
Willow rolled her eyes slightly at their drawings of food, but she had to admit, they were pretty good. "Not bad, guys..." She then pointed over to what looked like an erupting and smoking volcano. "Hey. Which one of you did that drawing over there?" She asked.
Shaggy and Scooby saw it, but they insisted that they didn't do it.
"I wonder if it means something." Velma said as she took a closer look at it. Then, the cave got darker, the others looking to see that the fire was dying.
"Oh no! The fire's going out!" Willow exclaimed.
"It's gonna be dark in a few hours too." Fred picked at the firewood that was burning out.
"Braedey, Scorcher. it's your turn to get firewood." Velma told the two males.
"Alright. Come on, Braedey..." Scorcher said before he soon left the cave with Braedey.
"Please be careful." Daphne called to them.
Outside in the jungle, Braedey and Scorcher decided to talk amongst one another as they go about in the forest to gather more firewood.
Scorcher hummed to herself as he collected some pieces in his arms. "It seems that life can be funny sometimes... One minute, you'd be in your room minding your own business with your family... The next, I could be eaten by a lion from a Roman Colosseum... I suppose next, I could..."
Braedey just simply rolled his eyes, but he then began to smell something. "Smoke..." He said, his eyes narrowing oddly.
"No. I'd rather not..." Scorcher cringed, misunderstanding what he meant by saying 'smoke'.
"No, not that smoke. I mean, I smell smoke." Braedey clarified.
"You smell smoke? From where?" Scorcher asked. He sniffed the air and he can confirm he could smell smoke. "Hey. I can smell it too..." Suddenly, a fireball fell at them, but luckily missed them both as it landed right in front of their feet. "Whoa! Where did that-?"
The two then saw a volcano in the distance and there was a plume of smoke rising from its mouth. The ground was also shaking, indicating that the volcano was bound to erupt and cause untold damage to the landscape.
"Why do I feel like the Scooby Snacks are gonna be up there?" Scorcher asked.
"We have to go back and tell the others." Braedey said, as he and Scorcher saw the trees were now burning from the falling lava. "We better hurry!"
"Right!" Scorcher said urgently, dropping the firewood and running back as fast as she could.
Suddenly, another fireball shot at them, but luckily missed them both as it landed right in front of their feet. This got the two boys to run immediately back towards the cave.
Eventually, the two finally returned as Daphne, Fred, Velma, Scooby, Shaggy, and Willow stared at the dying fire.
"What happened, you guys?" Fred asked them. "And where's the firewood?"
"If we don't get out of here, we're all gonna be firewood." Braedey warned them.
"Braedey, slow down." Willow said. "What's going on?"
"There's a volcano that has just erupted and I'm afraid to say our only way out of this level is at the volcano." Scorcher said, pointing over to the erupting volcano outside. The earth rumbled as the volcano spews more smoke from its top. "That's how this level ends." Scorcher added. "Emphasis on ENDS."
"Great, it looks like it's really cookin'." Fred nearly scoffed, wiping sweat from his forehead.
"That drawing must be a clue!" Velma pointed to the cave drawing on the wall. "I bet that's where the Scooby Snacks are. That drawing is a clue to lead us to the Scooby Snacks!"
"But it's miles away, it'll take us hours to get there!" Daphne sounded in distress as always.
"Now, where there's a will, there's a way." Fred said to them. "We'll find a way over there."
...
...
A few minutes later...
"Woolly Mammoths!?" Shaggy didn't like this ride so far.
Yes. The gang were now riding on the backs of two wooly mammoths to get to the volcano. It beats walking through the prehistoric jungle any day. Braedey, Scorcher and Willow, meanwhile, they were riding on the backs of three saber-tooth tigers alongside the mammoths.
Braedey rode on the lead tiger with Willow and Scorcher along with him, while Fred, Daphne, and Velma sat on their mammoth and Scooby and Shaggy had their own. Velma made the comment that mammoths and saber-took tigers didn't exist in the same timeline as dinosaurs, but she wasn't complaining. Daphne, however, was the one having the most trouble coping with the conditions and accommodations with riding a mammoth more than anyone else. She wasn't even sure if she could take much more of this, her hair looking more messy and such than before. Fred also said they didn't smell that good. Shaggy and Scooby looked like they were going to be sick.
"Hang on, guys, we're almost there!" Fred called.
"Aren't we?" Scorcher whispered to Braedey.
"Getting there..." Braedey said as he seemed to be the one in charge here for now.
"Lead the way." Willow called.
Once they got to the volcanoes, Braedey slid off the back of the tiger, and he patted its snout. "Thank you." He said, and the large animal brushed its head against the little boy. Braedey turned to see the others dismounting the animals they rode, the tigers now running off back to the open plains.
"Now, all we've got to do is get to part of the volcano and search for the Scooby Snacks." Scorcher said.
"Like, all I can see is smoke. And lava!" Shaggy called.
The volcano then began erupting again, and it scared the mammoths off away from the area, as more lava slowly leaked down from the sides of the mountain.
"Look up there!" Daphne gasped as she pointed up to a nest that was on the ledge of the volcano. Everyone looked over to see a baby pterodactyl was struggling to get free as a rock was holding down its wing.
"That baby pterodactyl is stuck!" Velma deduced immediately.
"We can't let the little guy perish." Willow said.
"Jeepers! The volcano is erupting again!" Daphne cried, as the volcano erupted again with even more force than before, the ground trembling with such force that cracks were spreading from below ground.
Fred then gasped as he saw the Phantom Virus now charging at them on the T-Rex. "Oh, No! We've got company! Start climbing!"
Everyone did as they were told. Scooby was scared: he almost slipped, but he made it away from the T-Rex chomping down at them. They made it up the ledge safely, and they were able to dodge the Phantom Virus's spear being thrown toward them. The T-Rex snarled and roared in anger, as is couldn't reach them, stomping back a few feet.
"I think we're safe." Velma smiled. "T-Rexes are built for running, not for climbing."
The volcano shook again with more ferocity as more lava came down for them. Scooby looked to the baby pterodactyl, and with a determined expression on his face, began to climb up to try and help the baby pterodactyl.
"Scooby, stop!" Braedey spoke out.
"Scooby, where are you going?" Willow called.
"Be careful, Scooby!" Daphne called out to the Great Dane.
Scooby made it to the nest, now seeing the pterodactyl trapped by the rock. The animal looked to Scooby with curiosity. Scooby was, of course, not strong, but he was able to push the rock out of the way to free the baby flying dinosaur. The pterodactyl was grateful for what the Great Dane did. This was a nice gesture. The pterodactyl baby moved its wings, now showing the box of Scooby Snacks behind it. The lava soon got closer and closer. Luckily, Scooby grabbed the Scooby Snacks as the baby pterodactyl decided to fly him away to safety.
"Look! Scooby-Doo has the third box of Scooby Snacks." Braedey called, as he saw Scooby with the Scooby Snacks box in his paws.
"Three levels down, seven to go." Scorcher added in.
However, the baby pterodactyl had just lost his new friend instantly as they ended this level, and soon enough, the gang followed suit to the next level...
