I hope you catches them, and that you tell me his opinions, through them I know if I'm on the right path.

Remember English is not my native language, I hope the translation is correct, check it, but sometimes I miss some incorrect personal pronouns for the phrase, sorry.

I reiterate, I do not own the characters of Friends I only rely on them for the pure pleasure of writing stories without any economic interest, and Monica and Chandler inspire me.

CHAPTER 7

Sunday evening, April 17

Richard and Ross picked up the girls, Joey and Phoebe went together, when they arrived Nora and Chandler were already sitting at a large round table and stood up to say hello.

Everyone, except Richard, hugged Nora with joy because, even though Chandler had told them about the lack of attention towards him in his childhood and adolescence, the whole gang loved Nora, she was fun, friendly, intelligent, everyone felt that the Chandler's personality, although he would never admit it, was quite similar to his mother's.

When everyone had greeted each other, Nora asked, "Who is this man?"

"It's Dr. Richard Burke, my boyfriend," Monica answered.

"Oh daughter," said Nora, hugging Monica by the waist, "you and I are day and night, I like to go out with men who seem to be my sons and you like those who seem to be your father" and starting with Nora everyone laughed out loud, except Chandler who gave the mother an icy look, Monica who only smiled, and Richard who stared at him, he hated the son and now the mother even more.

"Well, we sit down like this, we have a beautiful evening," Nora said and called the waiter, "Wow, you are very cute and if you behave well you will have a good tip, first, while we choose what to eat, bring four bottles of the best Champagne, we are celebrating."

"What do we celebrate? Phoebe asked.

"Dear, we are together, alive, healthy, happy, in love, having sex… the best thing in life," Nora answered.

"Yes, it's true, it's the best thing in life," Phoebe answered with a beautiful smile.

"You're in town promoting a new book," Rachel asked.

"No, now I'm writing, I lived in London for a while, but as soon as it is published I will send you a copy, well I will send one to each girl, although men would have to read it, they would learn a lot about what we women like" Nora said laughing.

"And what do they like?" Joey asked, very interested in improving his performance.

Ask Chandler, he has known this since he was young, when he was 16 I bought him a box of condoms and I gave him one of my books to read so he could start practicing and, from what some of the girlfriends I knew said, he does it very successfully," said Nora.

"Mom, you haven't started with the champagne yet," Chandler stopped her.

"We are all adults, and I suppose everyone knows how to do it well, in the old generations they were unimaginative, but in recent years they have improved a lot in this part, and the younger ones learn quickly" Nora said laughing and asked

"Well, what do you want us to talk about if sex seems like an irritating topic to you? Surely you feel more comfortable talking about work"

"You. Dr. Burke, what specialty do you have? Nora asked.

Richard tried to relax and seem friendly, "I'm an ophthalmologist"

"Oh how interesting, an eye for an eye… with patience everything should be fixed like that" said Nora with a mischievous smile.

Richard didn't understand her sarcasm, but Phoebe did and looked at her intrigued.

"And you Ross, are you still in the museum with your dinosaur?" Nora asked.

"Yes, now I am a section director," Ross answered.

"Oh, fantastic, and I see you much happier than the last time I was in the City, maybe I had something to do with it?" Nora said with a mischievous smile.

"Yes, as you told me, it was just a matter of waiting for the hindrance to disappear," Ross answered.

"And didn't the kiss help you improve your mood?" Nora asked, laughing.

"Mom, don't bring certain events to the table," Chandler said with a serious face.

"Nora, I almost lost my life, so let's leave it there," Ross answered, his face red and looking at Chandler.

"What are you talking about?" Rachel asked.

"Ha ha ha, I know what they're talking about, he almost killed me too just for seeing and not telling" said Joey

"Mom," Chandler said, looking at her.

"Son, things have to be told with the truth at the moment they happen, because sooner or later they discover you and you look like an idiot, and we, each in our own time, told it and gave sincere explanations," said Nora, looking at Monica and Richard.

Richard shifted in his seat somewhat uncomfortably.

"Can we know what you're talking about," Rachel asked again.

"Look dear, last year at the Mexican restaurant your boyfriend was devastated to see you so affectionate with that Italian boy, and he drank too much tequila, I went to the back room to talk on the phone and Ross was there dizzy not knowing where to go, I had realized what was happening to him and I tried to console him, and I told him that he had to wait for the hindrance to disappear" Nora said this last sentence looking at Monica.

"And then he gave me tenderness because of how sad he was and I kissed him, that was all"

Rachel looked at her with wide eyes.

Nora continued the story "Then Ross had remorse, he told Chandler and Joey told him that he had seen the kiss, so Chandler got angry with both of them, one for kissing me and the other for not telling," Nora finished.

"God, mom, you needed to tell that here today," Chandler said.

"Child, it was a foolish moment, and your friends were loyal to tell you, even though you were angry with them, and obviously also with me, but it is always better to tell the truth, I always taught you that loyalty is essential in life, with your friends, with your loves"

"It's true, it's a shame that not everyone doesn't understand it that way," Phoebe commented, "but how fun it must have been, they never told us anything, we stayed out of the drama"

"And it was a drama, even Chandler and I at Central Perk acted out a Shakespearean drama, me on my knees trying to explain to him and asking for forgiveness while he twisted his finger at me. As I screamed, the scene caught the attention of those who were in the cafe, and we had no choice but to tell them that we were rehearsing a scene from a play" Ross finished and everyone laughing loud.

"Yes, it was most ridiculous," Chandler said, laughing. "The next day I had already forgiven all three of them"

"And how are you doing Joey with acting?" Nora asked with sympathy.

"Trying to get something, something always comes up here or there, but I still wait for my chance," Joey said.

"Look, everything comes, just be patient, don't get ahead of yourself or embark on projects that have no future, make sure of that," Nora advised him.

"And you, Phoebe, how do you see my aura?" asked Nora.

"Splendid, always splendid" Phoebe answered with a smile.

"I guess all of us at this table have splendid auras," said Nora.

"Well, not everyone has, one in particular that is black," Phoebe said.

"Don't say it, it's not worth it," Nora told her, winking at her.

"Rachel, you already got your dream job in fashion," Nora asked.

"Not yet, I sent a lot of resumes, but nothing came out yet" she answers.

"Another one who must be patient, Rachel, you have achieved a lot so far, independence, self confidence, love, work will be the next achievement" Nora concluded.

"And now I have Chandler here by my side, who continues in that job that he hates, that is easy for him and gives him a lot of money," said Nora, looking at him with a mischievous smile.

"Don't you think he should go for something he really likes?" she asked the others.

"We always tell him that, especially Monica, but he doesn't listen," Phoebe said.

The colors rushed to Monica's face.

"I understand him, Nora," said Ross, "after seven years, he has had numerous promotions when he wanted to resign, the boss pursued him with calls to offer him more and more money to make him stay, which makes it evident that he is extremely good at his job and they don't want to lose him, for that reason he finds it difficult to change now, to start over"

"It may be difficult for ordinary mortals, but he has an IQ of 159, I don't think it will be difficult for him to join a creative job that I know is what he likes." "Help me convince him," Nora asked.

Chandler looked at her with a knowing smile that her mother returned, as he shook his head, she was terrible.

"Chandler didn't know you had that IQ," Rachel said in amazement.

"Yes, I knew," said Ross, "at the university they gave us the test, and when they gave it to us he threw it in the trash, I remember him saying "IQ does not guarantee success, much less happiness."

"And I am still convinced of that, it is true that it helps me in my current job, it is easy for me, I have 130 people under my supervision, doing calculations all day, I review them in four hours, I find the errors, I mark them so that they correct them, and then the rest of the day I have nothing to do, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be successful at another job," Chandler said.

"Friend, I don't understand anything about IQ or calculations, but I always admire the speed of your reasoning, having the exact answer in seconds, grasping the ironic side of a question, even the speed at which you find the sarcastic answer, you are always years ahead of us, I am sure that in whatever you do you will be successful" said Phoebe

"Thank you Phoebe, I didn't know you saw me like that, I always thought you saw me as a fool, well, actually I try to look stupid, that amuses me and I manage to confuse the opponent, in the game of life." Chandler said sarcastically and winked at her.

Richard didn't know Chandler's IQ and added to what he had just said about pretending to be stupid to confuse his opponent, these were worrying data, obviously the guy was skilled, he would have to get him out of the way soon.

"Ah, Monica, forgive me, I was forgetting about you, I didn't hear you talk much, tell me besides being a girlfriend with Mr. Burke, sorry Dr., how are you doing with work" Nora asked

"Now I'm doing catering at home," she replied.

"How interesting to have your own business," Nora said with a smile.

"Well, until time is difficult, I hope we'll make it, I'm going through it with Phoebe," Monica answered.

I'm happy for both of them," commented Nora.

Dinner was filled with anecdotes from Nora and the gang, which made the night very enjoyable, for everyone except the sequoia who practically didn't speak. And Nora had fun saying some things that she knew made him uncomfortable because of his movements in the chair.

At the end everyone said goodbye, Chandler accompanied his mother to the hotel.

Monday April 18

Chandler went to the interview and felt that it had been positive, Ms. Linda Harris seemed to have been pleased with him, and indicated that she wanted the Creative Director, James Gardner, to meet him, she contacted Mr. Gardner's secretary and they arranged a new interview for the following Wednesday at 11 am.

Chandler called Nora to meet for lunch so he could tell her how the interview had gone.

Nora was happy because her son seemed enthusiastic, and she wanted him to get the opportunity at the Agency.

During lunch Nora asked him about Liz, if she were his girlfriend, if he loved her.

"Mom, I've had two or three dates, I like her, she's very beautiful and nice, but I don't even have a crush. I'm seeing what happens."

"Son, I'm not stupid, I know you, you always go out with someone to see if you can feel something for the woman, but that will never be possible as long as you love another deeply"

"Jesus Christ, you're going to come back to that topic, I already explained to you that I need time to get over it, and I'm trying to do it, Liz can be a way," Chandler said with annoyance.

"I don't understand why you don't tell her what you feel, maybe…" said Nora

"Yes, right now she's crazy about the old sequoia," Chandler replied, shaking his head at his mother's idea.

"I wouldn't be so sure that she is crazy about him, rather I would say that she is not even in love, last night they hardly spoke to each other, Monica was quiet and thoughtful, they never held hands, nor did she make any gesture of approval towards him honey, and on the other hand he was uncomfortable" said Nora

"Obviously, Mom, he was uncomfortable because he had the guy who discovered him sitting in front of him, and the mother of the guy who was bothering him all the time from the beginning" Chandler answered.

"Yes, that was very funny," said Nora, "but you're forgetting something, soon the truth will come out about, what do you call him? oh yes, the old sequoia, and he will disappear from the scene, Monica will probably be overwhelmed for a while, but then you have to act before another sequoia or Donald Duck appears"

"You're not going to stop, are you? Chandler said at this point with a smile.

Dear, you yourself told me that I am stubborn, and you are softening, so I will continue to persist.
