{Chapter 19: One Week Later} [Chapter 19: Part 1]

Naomi's first week at the Sherman Ranch passed by so quickly she wondered where the time went to. Mort Cory came for dinner on Saturday and Sunday Jess was well enough to

come to church with Daisy, Mike, Slim, and her. Naomi wore her pretty new yellow dress and everyone was happy to meet her and they all complimented her on how pretty she looked.

Including a certain blue eyed, brown haired cowboy named Jess Harper. And before Naomi knew it, it was Monday again. ''My, Daisy, where did the week go!''; Naomi exclaimed as

she swept the dust out of the front room onto the porch and outside. ''I know what you mean, dear; Daisy said as she finished dusting the furniture. ''I'm just glad we got

your things sewn last week; Daisy said as she went to the kitchen to get a bucket and mop. Oh, let me do that, Daisy; Naomi said as she reached for the bucket and mop.

Oh, thank you, Naomi; Daisy said as she removed her apron. Where's Jess, do you know, Daisy?; Naomi asked as she filled the bucket from the kettle on the stove. The last time I

saw him he was taking a nap on the front porch; Daisy replied. Oh, good, Daisy, he needs the rest; Naomi said as she started to mop. I certainly agree with you, Naomi; Daisy said

as she put on the apron she used to do the wash in. Would you check on him before you start the wash, Daisy?; Naomi asked as she finished the kitchen floor. Of course, Naomi;

Daisy said as she went toward the front door. I know he's still healing , Daisy, but I hope he's not getting bored because of not being able to work much; Naomi said seriously.

Maybe we can find something for him to do around the house when he can move his arm a little more easily, Naomi; Daisy replied. That would be a good idea, Daisy; Naomi said

as she started to mop the front room. I've already see n how Jess likes to stay busy and how he hates when he can't; Naomi added. That's Jess all over, Naomi; Daisy said as she

went out the door.

And before Naomi knew it the floor was mopped and she had no place to go but outside. ''There, that's done''; Naomi said to herself as she took the bucket

outside and dumped it out and then stood the mop up to dry. ''Now it's time for a rest''; Naomi said to herself.
