For those who are worried that I am giving the character too much…don't. This is going to be a LOOOOONG story exploring Star Wars canon/legends as well as my own content and more. We will have plenty of time to see everything in effect throughout the story. How often these things will be used, is up for debate. Also if someone complains about Asami getting together with Rein so fast…Just look how fast she gets with Mako in the series.
Rein stood inside the gym watching Korra, Mako, and Bolin throw a ball at one another. Bags under his eyes from not only the lack of sleep after Korra catching them partially naked, but also from being dragged out of bed here to suffer with her in the early, early morning. "What's the big idea with making me train this early in the morning? The morning is evil." Rein and her, although they still went everywhere, weren't exactly on good talking terms. Not only did she fail to apologize for either situation the past day, he was utterly embarrassed by her seeing everything the way she did. Making any situation of them talking utterly awkward and unproductive.
"We're the rookies, so we get the worst time slot of the gym." Bolin quite easily explained.
"And you're the rookiest of us all. We've got to get you up to speed if we wanna survive in the tournament. Deal with it." Mako would toss the ball at her with his usual attitude.
"You deal with it." Tossing the ball back with force, she sent him into a flip and tumble to the floor in front of Rein. Raising a brow, he looked down at Mako. He didn't feel a bit sorry for the man who brought a poor attitude here, nor did he feel sorry because they practically had to drag him here just to join their suffering. That was when the owner of the arena stepped in. Watching as he pulled out a stack of cash, he already caught on that there was going to be a catch. Sure enough, there was. Korra's new gear fees, gym and equipment rentals, rent, and groceries loan. They all right away knew who that last one was for.
"What? I'm a growing boy." Bolin patted his belly.
"One last thing. The fire ferrets need to ante up thirty thousand yuans for the championship pot."
"Thirty thousand yuans?!" Bolin was floored by the staggering amount they needed to compete.
"Sorry kids. You have until the end of the week to come up with the dough. Or else you're out of the tournament."
After he left, Bolin looked at Korra and Rein. "You wouldn't happen to have a secret avatar bank account overflowing with gold would you?" Both, offended and flattered by this. Rein chose to let it slide this time.
"I got nothing." Korra turned her pockets inside out. "I've never really needed money. I've always had people taking care of me." Korra admitted which Rein nodded. That was when he realized eyes were now on him.
"…I have ten yuans to my name. Back in the south pole, we relied on trading our things for what we needed…That or being self-sufficient. Money was not a big thing in our enclave…However I know someone who can get you that much money. She's a huge fan of pro bending and the fire ferrets."
"Really? THAT'S AMAZING!" Bolin would hug Rein. The fragile looking teen reached out to Korra for help as life slowly drained from their body. Korra knew who he was mentioning and was less than thrilled about it. Looking away, she took a breath to calm herself. "But…What if she says no?"
"I'll figure something out in case that plan falls through. I always do." Mako was walking out, having no confidence that Rein could pull this off for them.
Elsewhere, in the south pole. The enclave was perfectly set up outside the massive ship's hangar. Aasha would smile at the sight, alongside her two daughters. It was…unfortunate her lover could not see what they had made. Marsha and Naisha used the force to lift a massive block of ice carrying two waterbenders atop it so they could unfreeze the ship the Ple's called home. A Dogosse Giar known as the Shadowbound. Several classes were being performed around the enclave they built. Force training, saber practice, marksmanship, and obstacle courses. Aboard the massive ship, they had recently unearthed the heating room allowing heat to once again grace the ship. This step alone had greatly expedited the process of exploring the behemoth to find several more hangar bays and many more cryo pods or stasis chambers. At some point they even uncovered flight simulators which the Ple's seemed all too familiar with. Aasha, letting out a sigh, felt the presence of Tarmeia approaching. "You're back? It's a little soon for you to be seeking my guidance."
"It's not me that needs your guidance." Tarmeia clarified. At this note, Aasha looked at the people in the room. Seeing the look in her eyes, they vacated the room for the master and knight. "Rein had a vision."
"This is normal. Though it's becoming far less so as the darkness grows." Aasha dismissed this idea at first.
"Rein disagrees. This vision. He described it like…they knew who he was, where he was, and that they would meet. The way he described it was like they were completely aware he saw them." Aasha, listening to Tarmeia's words, suddenly understood while she was so troubled. "I fear master Sifo-Dyas' worries for war are coming true. Not just for the galaxy."
"I…You're right. However, what is it we can do? We're bound to this planet without a working hyperdrive. The Jedi would consider our words as those of an outcast. And if they knew of Rein." Aasha rubbed her shoulders in thought and worry. "I doubt Rein would accept any of their terms. To let go of the force and never use it again, or to join them."
"I don't think he'll join the Republic either. With how much of our crew, and the logs spoke of it, all he knows is the corruption it's known for." Aasha closed her eyes in thought. Then the door opened. In its entryway was Ple five, Oria. The eccentric Ple looked at them before speaking a little.
"We don't have hyperdrives. But we have something that can work just as well." Oria spoke freely, adjusting the maroon vest she wore. Aasha and Tarmeia looked at one another with a raised brow. "Many of the ships aboard the Marmoreal are equipped with a number of different drive technologies from our home. Earth. The warp drives which transitions a ship from point a to b. Slipspace drives which open slipspace tunnels between the two points. Most other ships just have fast sublight engines that allow quick transitions from one sector to another. They require a lot of fuel to do so, but it's possible to find an alternative." Oria explained, all the while pulling up schematics on several other ships found in the hangars. "If you wish, we can lend a crew to one of these ships for whatever it is you see fit."
"Thank you Oria. However, this is very premature. We aren't ready to join the galaxy at large yet. This world you call New Earth is far too primitive and would be greatly affected should war find its way here." Aasha reasoned with the Ple.
"Perhaps not…In the archives there were a number of neutral races that have yet to join the Republic. We could enlist their aid, or even explore for aid in wild space." Tarmeia also reasoned. Though this earned a worried look from Aasha.
"Tarmeia. We aren't warmongers. If we form a coalition, there is no telling what may happen."
"How long do you think we have Aasha? The war is coming whether you want it to or not. If we do not find allies, we may never be able to protect the peace we've spent all these years building." Tarmeia argued. Oria, who was now just in the middle of all this, shrank in the corner as the two Jedi went back and forth.
"I will not condone the fear of war as an excuse to grow in power. Tarmeia, should you walk down this path, you will fall, and there will be no coming back."
"Master with due respect, how long are we to live in fear of repercussions before we can be allowed to protect ourselves. If we don't do this, we may be swallowed up by this war and never see the end of that tunnel." Tarmeia firmly stood behind her belief that they needed allies to protect the livelihood they have already built. Aasha was determined to stay neutral and remain where they were. She felt if they did this, they would be inviting war to their doorsteps. That was until Oria raised her hand.
"Shouldn't we leave this up to vote among the leadership of the Marmoreal?" Looking at the girl, the two suddenly felt embarrassed for their behavior.
"Yes. You're right Oria. I apologize for such unsightly behavior." Aasha nodded in agreement.
"I agree. I was being too hasty in the matter. We should leave the matter to the ship's council." Tarmeia sighed as she cooled her head. "…One thing can't wait master. Rein needs more training…Training I can't provide." Hearing this, Aasha would smile. Her friend had come a long way from her days in the order. From being a young padawan always disobeying her orders and thinking her way was right, to the knight before her. However, Aasha knew another thing.
"We are needed here for now. Until the council's vote is made. One of us may need to leave the system to find aid should they agree with your reasons." Tarmeia was deeply troubled by her master's words.
"But…Rein needs…"
"I know, but he needs to learn on his own for now." Anxious, the Firrerreo would turn her head in the direction of Republic city before nodding in agreement.
At air temple island, Korra was going through the gates once more with the help of Ikki and Jinora. Focusing on being light on her feet, she weaved her way through the gates. Finally she reached the end, landing before the two little airbenders. They would slightly tilt their heads seeing someone. "Ooo. He's cute. Korra, is that the handsome firebender boy that drives you crazy? Thought you'd be more interested in Rein." Jinora smiled a little, poking fun at Korra's taste in men while she was at it.
"Ooo. Does he drive you crazy in a bad way? Or does he drive you crazy like you like him?" Ikki couldn't help but try and invade the conversation. Korra, unamused by their attempts, would slam her foot into the ground, earthbending and launching the two high in the air.
"Hey Mako." Korra greeted normally, and just as fast received a response.
"Have you seen Bolin?"
"Nice to see you too. And no, I haven't seen him since practice. You think something's wrong?"
"I don't know. Bolin has a knack for getting into stupid situations." He sighed, realizing he had no luck finding him here. "See you…" He nearly ran into the two Ple's. Elina blinked and tilted her head one way, while Lelah did the same and tilted her head the other.
"Is this the firebender that Rein says has a bad attitude all the time?" Elina bluntly started. Korra covered her mouth as Ikki and Jinora giggled.
"Right…I'm just gonna go now." Mako, feeling insulted already, tried to leave.
"Wait. I could help you look for him." Korra smiled, offering her assistance.
"Nah. I got this."
"Hey cool guy. Let me help you. We can take Naga."
"Who's Naga?"
"My best friend. And a great tracker."
"Thought Rein was your best friend." Mako pointed out. It was backed up by the fact the two seemed almost inseparable until recently.
"We are…We just…have things we need to work out." Korra rubbed her shoulder.
"Korra yelled at Rein the other day when he tried to help her." Lelah added.
"Then she walked in on him while he was changing, we heard." Elina also added, making Korra feel less than secure about their friendship now, let alone being more than friends. "We can go get Rein to come along if you want. His Cyclizer could use the exercise." Korra, seeing a chance to apologize to Rein, finally smiled once again before nodding her head.
"What's a Cyclizer?" Mako added to this with confusion. Not long later, the group was walking the streets of Republic city. Rein was atop Cyclizer while Mako and Korra shared Naga's back. "Your best friend is a polar bear dog. Somehow that makes perfect sense."
"I'll take that as a compliment, city boy. And Rein, it's so nice you could come with us."
"Yeah…Cyclizer needed the walk." He reached around rubbing Cyclizer's cheek, while also being less than enthusiastic about the whole situation.
"Rein look…About the other days. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to explode at you the way I did. That was…unfair of me." She rubbed her shoulder nervously as she began to apologize, making Mako raise an eye, wondering what she did. "And I didn't mean to run in and…see everything. I heard glass break and thought you were in danger." Rein, although upset, would look up at Korra. Leaning back a tad he scratched the side of his head before smiling a little. Korra, who was focusing on the road, suddenly had a bunch of mud slap across her face. Her eyes widened and mouth hung open in shock. The Ralts stood atop Cyclizer's back clapping her hands with a smile as the Eevee stood in front of Naga with a grin on its face.
"Apology accepted!" Rein smiled as his Cyclizer picked up the pace, running quickly ahead to avoid retaliation.
"Rein! UGH!" She tossed mud aside and chased after him atop Naga. The group would quickly come up to central city station, where Bolin would usually hang out in record time because of Rein. Seeing some kids playing, Mako would climb down from Naga's back. Seeing a moment to wait, Rein stopped Cyclizar watching Korra who did the 'I'm watching you' thing with her fingers. Although she was upset, she was also glad. Rein hadn't spoken to her, hung out, or even pranked her for the past few days because of all that's happened.
"You guys seen my brother around here today?" Mako asked one of the kids. While the two interrogated them, Rein played with Eevee. Their little paws reaching up and pressing against his hands. Looking over at Korra, he smiled, picking up Eevee and waving with one of their paws at her. She would look over at him waving a little as well. "Sounds like there's a turf war brewing. And Bolin's about to get caught right in the middle of it." Mako drew her attention back to the situation at hand as Rein slowly got up and stretched. Getting back atop their mounts, the group booked it towards the triple threat triads headquarters. That was until Naga got sidetracked by a fire ferret crossing the street.
"Woah Naga!" Naga, likely seeing Pabu as a snack, chased after it. Having to follow after her, Cyclizer turned right around, chasing Naga. The polar bear dog having chased the fire ferret up a pole looked ready to climb up after it. "No Naga. Pabu's a friend. Not a snack." Korra quickly put down any thought of eating the ferret. Sensing the urgency, Mako knew they had to hurry.
Reaching the hideout, he instantly knew something wasn't right. "Somethings not right. There's usually thugs posted out front. We've better be cautious." Sensing something off as well, Rein right away went out back on Cyclizer. That was when he saw not only Bolin, but several men in masks.
"Back here!" Seeing that they've been spotted, they began to motorcycle away with the armored car. Unlike the usual old timey vehicles, these were much faster than Cyclizer ever could be. Seeing this new development, and knowing he couldn't keep up with Naga in this chase, Rein waited behind thinking of a way to catch up that…didn't involve Latias or Latios and burning his skin off at mach speeds. While they chased, he returned Cyclizer to its pokeball. With only one thing left in mind, he used something he hadn't since he was nine. "Spirit, heed my call. I summon you from your slumber to be my wings. Yubel." In a flash of brilliant white light, a form appeared. Sickly pink skin and large black wings. Heterochromatic eyes, one orange while the other blue with a third eye on her head. One leg was completely covered in clothes while the other was uncovered. Her hair was spiked up with one side being white and the other being blue. Blue lips curled to a smile, revealing her pointed fangs. One half of her body was female, while the other was male. Reaching down, the duel spirit rubbed his cheek. "I'm sorry it took so long to call on you again, Yubel."
"Think nothing of it. I am just glad you remembered me." With a curl of her lips, she picked him up from under the arms and began to fly. Although she wasn't as fast as the motorcycles, she had a big advantage of being able to fly over buildings. That said, by the time they caught up to Korra and Mako, they were already fighting the masked men. Rolling his wrist, he dropped down, landing behind one. Unarmed, he didn't seem like much of a threat. That was until he made his first swing. The force empowered his blow that the chi blocker dodged. Striking the ground left a notable hole in the ground. Taken aback by this sudden display of strength, both chi blockers knew he was an actual threat. As they prepared to strike him as well, Yubel came hovering behind him. Her scaled left arm moved defensively in front of him as she bared her fangs at them. Naga, who had just torn through their bolas, also came forward, jumping between them and Korra, roaring loudly. Pabu added with a screech of its own. Though confused by the fire ferret's dogged bravery, they were much more concerned by the polar bear dog, Yubel, and Rein. Yubel's appearance alone sent chills down their spines. Throwing forth a smoke grenade, the two made a quick get away on their motorcycles.
Rein groaned, shaking his hand to get feeling back in it, having pulled off the tough guy act long enough. Korra would get up and try bending at the fleeing chi blockers. "I can't bend. I can't bend!" Korra, frantic about this, was unaware of what they did.
"Calm down. It'll wear off. Those guys were chi blockers. They're Amon's henchmen." Mako calmed her.
"I remember hearing of a chi blocker before from Katara." Rein noted, earning their attention and the sudden change in looks to that of fearful anxiety of Yubel. "What? It's not my fault I sat with Jinora through Katara's stories. Though they were very…"
"Rein, who is that?!" Korra asked in surprise, pointing to Yubel. The stoic duel spirit looked at her then to her summoner.
"R-Right. This is Yubel. She's a spirit friend of mine." Korra, hearing that she was a spirit, lowered her guard, a slight whimsical feeling going through her body.
"You're friends with the spirits? I didn't know. Maybe you can help me connect to my spiritual side." Rein felt his world shatter at the mention of helping her train in spiritual guidance. He didn't even know how he connected to the spirits. Getting back on topic. "What do they want with the triple threats?"
"Whatever it is, it can't be good." Mako sighed, rubbing his temples. "I can't believe Bolin got himself into this mess."
"Mako. We are going to save your brother. I promise you that." Korra quickly reassured. Taking to the backs of their mounts, the group began the search again. Yubel would have to fly over the city to not be spotted right away by the people still out. Hours would pass with no sign of Bolin, and Rein could feel himself drifting in and out of sleep. Naga herself panted exhaustively. His own Cyclizer was making less than enthusiastic noises. "We've been out all night. No sign of him."
"We've got to keep looking…But where." It was then Korra got an idea. The group would then find themselves among the park's misty atmosphere. Naga and Pabu took a quick moment to drink from the pond as Yubel landed alongside them.
"I've read all the minds on the street I could. None of them are working with Amon. At least. Not directly." Yubel informed, crossing her arms under her bust.
"She can read minds?" Korra was suddenly less than enthusiastic with having her around. Many of her thoughts on Rein alone would make her want to die inside if he knew. As if on cue, Yubel sneered at Korra placing her hands on Rein's chest possessively, as if trying to show how far ahead she was of the girl.
"That's right. And I do it all to protect my sweet Rein." She grinned behind him, showing her fangs. Mako, who had begun to understand the situation, began to realize just how scary these two women were. Korra's face twisted in sudden shock, anger, and a growing frustration. Rein however was too out of it to know what they were going on about. It was now Yubel noticed that spirit lights were coming off her body. "Rein's passing out. Which means my time here is up." She sighed, finally releasing him. He would lean against Naga, closing his eyes against the warmth of her body under the tree. With another sneer, she glared at Korra. "Remember this. It doesn't matter who you are. If you bring pain to my be-…my Rein. I will bring harm to you from the spirit world." It was then she vanished into spirit lights. Korra, now feeling relieved, let out a thankful sigh before sitting beside Rein against Naga. With nowhere else to go, Mako did the same.
"Do I want to know what's going on between you two? You two seem awfully lovey dovey for one guy." Mako looked at Korra, wondering how she felt about this.
"No idea. I've only just met the girl, found out she's a mind reader, and suddenly, bam. I'm fighting her over Rein already…Not like she or I are the first." She muttered remembering seeing how Rein sat in the same booth as his date at the pro bending match. However, seeing how defensive the mind reader was, that only meant he and that girl weren't boyfriend and girlfriend yet. With renewed determination, she steeled herself for a long fight ahead…After a little nap.
Sunlight streamed through the trees and Rein slowly opened his eyes, seeing Korra and Mako leaning side by side. Her head on his shoulder and his head against hers. He squeezed his hands together before smirking. "Latias, chilling water." Bringing forth the master ball, Latias came out invisible. A large ball of water splashed against the two. Korra, unsurprisingly used to the cold, would wake up in shock. Mako on the other hand would wake up in shock and shivers squeezing his shoulders. "Morning love birds. Hope you rested well because your guy is here." Rein pointed to the man yelling equality now, again and again. Korra would process him calling her and Mako love birds before looking at Mako.
"W-Wow. Slow down. We aren't in l-love. Right K-Korra?" Mako tried to get the whole situation cleared up for Korra's sake. His body shivering from the freezing water he was splashed with.
"He's right. We just fell asleep against Naga, just like you." Korra pointed out, hoping this would clear the misunderstanding. Rein, now hearing this, remembered how he woke up against Naga as well.
"Y-Yeah well…Hope you enjoyed your morning shower." Mako and Korra looked less than amused by this as they got up to interrogate the protester. However, upon seeing Korra, the man gasped in anger and frustration.
"It's you again! You cannot silence me avatar!" He shouted through his megaphone in her face. Korra, who heard enough of that, smacked the megaphone to the side which shattered like glass.
"Shut your yapper and listen up. My friend got kidnapped by some chi blockers. Where'd they take him?" Korra went straight to business while Rein looked into the pamphlets, pretending to be a non-bender interested in the cause. He even had some help with Latias who had taken the form of a human girl. The man at the desk didn't seem to mind, as they showed no signs of being a group with Korra or Mako.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." The man crossed his arms atop the stage. His eyes shifted away suspiciously. Before Korra could take drastic measures, Rein spoke up.
"I think we got what we need, pookie bear." Latias, who couldn't speak in human form, could only nod her head happily in response. Korra, who had felt her heart drop, looked over at the pretend couple. 'How many girls are in his life? Are we all just play things to him?!' Disheartened, she brought a hand to her chest before taking her breath. Taking this cue she led Mako away from the protester. Not all too long later, they were sitting at a tram terminal with two pamphlets.
"Alright! What's going on!? Just how many girls are you going to be playing with?!" Korra would question Rein, trying to get to the bottom of who the new girl was.
"P-Pardon…I guess you wouldn't know. I never brought her out at the south pole. You can drop the disguise Latias." Latias was engulfed in a bright shiny light before coming out as her old pokemon self. Korra, who had suddenly understood the misunderstanding, felt like an ass for calling him out like that. Latias would pick up his pamphlet and turn them around with a joyful smile. "We were talking to the guy beside you and found out the pamphlets have four different maps printed randomly on their backs. We picked the only two actually needed and viola." Latios cheered as she used her small hands to match the pieces to the map beside them. "Hello revelation." Mako, who originally underestimated Rein, was beginning to see why this guy was so great in Korra's eyes.
"I'm sorry I doubted you." Korra placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to move past her previous statement. That night, the group approached the rally. A lot of non-benders were walking in. Korra and Mako had pulled on their disguises while Rein remained unchanged from their usual outfit. Trousers, a t-shirt, and a vest over it. Although nervous, he was the only one of the group that believed they were a non-bender, or was used to it. Even after the supposed earthbending, he still couldn't grasp the fact that he was a bender. The group began to approach the bouncer, Korra thinking ahead, wrapped her arms around Rein's left arm.
"What are you doing?" Mako asked, confused why she was hugging Rein's arm like that.
"We'll attract less attention this way." She told the truth in this situation. Although she wanted to be closer to Rein, this was a very serious matter. Approaching the bouncer, the big man crossed his arms.
"This is a private event. No one gets in without an invitation." The man informed them. Rein, who understood right away from talking with the guy earlier, pulled out the pamphlet for the man. Looking it over, he smiled, gesturing them in. "The revelation is upon us my brothers and sister." Now with permission, the three entered the building. Upon reaching the interior, they found out just how many people hated benders. There were at least a couple hundred in one place. Rein, now feeling more than a little nervous, squeezed Korra's arm like he'd get lost if he didn't hold on. To be honest, he probably would have with such a massive crowd. As they made their way closer to the stage, the lights came on. An announcer yelling out to welcome their hero and savior, Amon. Rising from the center stage was Amon and several chi blockers alongside his lieutenant. They all had a similar trench coat. Amon's coat came with a hood that allowed him to display his mask. His lieutenant was far different, with his hood having goggles and displaying his mouth. On his back were two kali sticks.
"My quest for equality began many years ago. When I was a boy. My family and I lived on a small farm. We weren't rich and none of us were benders. This made us very easy targets for the firebender who extorted my father." Amon rambled on about his life story. Rein looked bored, his eyes partially closed.
"He's a very good liar." Korra and Mako looked at him very confused by this. "His heartbeat is irregular when he's speaking about his life story. It's subtle, like he's been living this lie for a long time that he almost believes it. He's hiding something and I don't entirely know what or why." Rein noted.
"As you know. The avatar has recently arrived in Republic city." People began to boo hearing this. Korra, looking around, lifted her scarf over her face. "And if she were here. She would tell you that bending brings balance to the world. But she is wrong. The only thing bending has brought to the world is suffering. It has been the cause of every war. In every era. But that is about to change. I know you have been wondering. What is the revelation? You are about to get your answer." Hearing this, Rein squeezed his hands. "Since the beginning of time. The spirits have acted as guardians of our world. And they have spoken to me. They say the avatar has failed humanity. That is why the spirits have chosen me. To usher in a new era of balance. They have granted me a power that'll make equality a reality. The power to take a person's bending away…Permanently."
"He speaks the truth…How?" Rein noted, not really understanding.
"That's impossible. There's no way." Korra spoke in complete disbelief. Only the avatar could do such. It's been that way since Avatar Aang. However, hearing Rein say it's true, made her even more confused. Mako, who thought this was insanity speaking, suddenly got their answer. A demonstration. Lightning bolt Zolt was being pulled out with the triads and Bolin in tow. "There's Bolin." Korra was ready to go up there to save him, just for Rein and Mako to drag her back.
"Korra, think. There are a lot of chi blockers up there." Rein scolded her brashness. Hearing and seeing his worry, Korra's features softened as she nodded her head. "We need to be smart. I can summon a spirit, but only for so long." Amon went on, listing the crimes of Zolt to non-benders. Surprisingly, they were going to give him a fair fight. The firebender, confident he could take down Amon, opened up with quick bursts of flame. Amon practically saw them coming, dodging left and right, weaving through the flames. Trying to end the fight, Zolt shot forth a bolt of lightning at him. Having closed the distance, Amon took the man's hand, redirecting the stream of lightning everywhere else. Grabbing the back of the man's neck, he placed a thumb over their forehead. Their wild eyes looking everywhere as their lightning turned to fire…then to nothing. After he was released, he tried weakly to firebend at Amon to no success. His bending was gone. "Right um…Ideas Mako?" Rein and Korra looked at him.
"I think I have something. See those machines? They're powered by water and steam. If Korra creates some cover, I can grab Bolin without anyone seeing. Then we duck out of here." Mako explained. It was a simple plan, but Rein felt like there was not a chance it would go through without complications. Korra quickly snuck into the side room that had the steam valves. Rein listened in while Mako went through the crowd towards the front. While Korra was turning valves, the bouncer came into the side rooms.
"Hey you." Korra, who was stunned by this, knew that she was caught and needed to attempt to salvage this whole situation.
"Is there a problem my brother?" She tried her best to play her role.
"What are you doing back here?"
"Um. Looking for the bathroom." Rein facepalmed at her excuse before deciding to salvage the situation for her.
"There you are! There's a bender trying to break in up front!" Rein called to the bouncer in worry and fright. Hearing that there was a bender, the man quickly turned his attention.
"You two get out of here. I'll see what's going on." He quickly ordered before running off. Rein, upon seeing him go, calmed and reset his face into a smile.
"That is how you do it Korra." He licked his finger and marked down on their unofficial scoreboard. Korra, who had just been saved from this situation, smiled at Rein. "Also why are you turning the valves? You're a waterbender." Her eyes sparkled at his comment, and right away knew what she had to do. Using her bending, she sent the steam through the pipes, causing the machines on the other side to explode into steam and smoke. The crowd panicked and began to scatter. Amon, although jumped by the explosion, looked on with interest before vanishing into the smokescreen they made for Mako. Bolin, who was suddenly grabbed by a chi blocker, began to panic. That was until Mako came up and threw the chi blocker over his shoulder and off the stage.
"Bolin are you alright?" Mako asked his brother.
"Yes! Mako! I love you!" In joy, and extreme relief, Bolin went to hug his brother. His brother, understanding this wasn't the time or place, dragged him through the smoke. Upon exiting out the back, the two would start climbing down the ladder escape. That was until they were found by the lieutenant. Pulling out his kali sticks, they began to spark with electricity as he slammed them into the metal ladder. The brothers were shocked, quite literally, by the waves of electricity before falling down. Jumping down, the man attempted to hit them both with his kali sticks for the two to get up on opposite ends of him. As they prepared their stances, the wall was busted down, launching rocks and debris into the man's face. Groaning, Rein brushed away the dust from his face. Beside him was a tall white figure with red marks. Elemental hero Neos looked down at the brothers while Bolin began to fan his face. "Rein! You have no idea how happy I am to see your face!" Taken aback by this, Rein hid behind Neos as Korra came through. Whistling, Korra called for Naga. While the three of them climbed on her back, Rein called out Cyclizer. With this, they made their getaway.
Coming to, the lieutenant called out to the chi blockers, "The avatar. That's her!"
"Let her go. She's the perfect messenger to tell the city of my power." Amon reasoned, while also showing intrigue in Rein's strange abilities.
Returning to air temple island, Korra and Rein approached Tenzin and the white lotus sentries. The two looked at each other, knowing they needed to tell him. "Thank goodness. I was about to send out a search party for you two. Were you able to find your friend?"
"Yes but…We were at an equalist rally. We watched as Amon take people's bending away." Korra informed.
"That's impossible. Only the avatar has ever possessed that ability."
"We both witnessed it…No bender is safe from the revolution." Rein warned, seeing this as just the beginning to Amon's reign of terror.
South Pole, enclave. Aasha and Tarmeia stood by their seats among the council of senior ship staff. Five additional people came. These were the senior staff. Oliver, a man with years of piloting mobile suits under his belt. He was very well liked by the crew for his lead by example attitude. He had blue eyes, and a dark orange hairstyle that spiked off to the side in front. Tisan Saromee, a Sangheili honor guard and ship master of the Silent Solitude. One of the mandibles that made up a fourth of his jaw was missing, having been lost in honorable combat long ago. Gray and smooth skin covered his body as the ornate honor guard harness covered that. Leonar, a Quincy. He was the spiritual expert aboard the ship, as well as a medicine maker. Dressed in all white with black messy hair. His green eyes were paired with glasses to assist his nearsighted issues. Captain Dietlea of the dreadnought Escalation, an Asari. She had purplish blue skin, dotted with purple specklings under her eyes. An older captain by all means, she had reached the venerable age of eight hundred fifty just last year. Despite her age, her body showed little sign of aging due to Asari genetics and the crew respect her for her no nonsense approach on watch. That and her record as a commando, which she still dressed in those leathers. Finally there was Omega. No one knew what exactly she was. All they knew was that she was the exceptional mind trusted only by the previous captain, Lotus Aurrus. She had a body of blue and purple tendrils that inhabited a suit of black metal. A female made breastplate covered its chest while its four legs were spindly and spider-like. The black claws tipped in gold. Its mask has six red lines going from one side to another. These five, alongside Aasha and Tarmeia, made up the council of seven.
The group all turned to Leonar, the calmest of the group who was given the designated role of speaker in times like this. Leonar, clearing his throat, stood above the group around him. "It is here I will discuss the results of the ship's poll on exploring to find allies for the upcoming war." He announced. Looking through his notes, he read, "Master Aasha has voted against the use of ships in exploration, reasoning that this could bring war here. Mistress Omega has voted to abstain. Tisan Saromee has voted in favor, alongside knight Tarmeia, captain Dietlea, and wing leader Oliver. I too am in agreement with this." Aasha, although disappointed by this outcome, knew it was what everyone else wanted. Then came the assignment. "In light of the votes, the five captains outside the Jedi have agreed unanimously to appoint Tarmeia captain of the Kindred Spirit phoenix class support ship. From this day forward, it is her mission to recruit others to the cause. A cause which currently has no name…They have also voted in favor of master Aasha and I moving down to Republic city, alongside our closest confidants, to train and keep an eye on the ship's supreme commander, Rein." He…did not seem happy about this. Adjusting his glasses, he let out a sigh. "This meeting is adjourned." The group began to disperse. Before Tarmeia could take up her new post, Aasha caught her.
"Tarmeia." Aasha placed her mechno-arm on her shoulder. There was a pause before the master spoke once more. "Be careful. There's a reason the unknown regions are unexplored." Hearing her words of warning, Tarmeia nodded her head in agreement. Placing her face mask back on, the Firrerreo left the tent, leaving the future of Rein in their capable hands.
