"I hope I'm not jinxing us, but the last month has been quiet." Buffy said.

"It's too bad I can't see Murphy." Xander muttered.

"Murphy?" Buffy asked, as their group headed towards the library.

"Murphy's law." Jesse told her. "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, and usually at the worst possible time. Calling attention to the lack of something going wrong superstitiously invites something to go wrong."

"There hasn't been anything since Xander scared the Inca guard. That was kinda funny actually." Buffy said. "And when Xander told him his people were gone, he just disappeared, which I'm hoping means we don't see him anymore. And Tika's doing well, well when Jesse and Xander aren't scaring boys away from her."

"Her human face is beautiful, they're going to be interested." Cordelia answered. "She's used to that, after all it's why she was chosen for that sacrifice in the first place. What she's not used to is people feeling protective of her."

"We would have done the same for Willow." Jesse told her. "It's neat how fast the Wesen Council was able to create a modern identity for her. She's now my adopted sister. The other Wesen are aware of her and none of them have said or done anything to hurt her, so things are going good. But still, Murphy."

"Sign it." A harsh voice demanded, shoving a clipboard in their faces.

"Sign what?" Xander asked, eyeing the annoying Vice Principal of Sunnydale High. Snyder was human, mostly. He didn't think Snyder was even aware of the fact that he had Wesen ancestry. At least a few generations back though. Xander could see a very mild woge that was totally involuntary on Snyder's part, like a shadow over his face. It had taken several hours of research at Uncle Rory's to finally identify the strange other face Snyder had. Fuilcre, an oxlike Wesen. Xander was almost sure, given that a full Fuilcre had two huge horns that stuck out of the side of its head. Snyder had two thick nubs on the sides of his head. They were generally regarded as deliberate, straight forward and honest. Xander was pretty sure the only thing Snyder was honest about was his intense dislike of the students he was supposed to be guiding through the educational system.

"Kiddie escort duty, runs from 4 - 6. Bring them back in one piece or you'll have detention for a year."

"I thought that was voluntary." Jesse protested. "I'm sure Principal Flutie said it was."

"And you all are volunteering. Sign it!"

"I've sadly developed carpel tunnel and can't sign anything." Buffy protested.

"Xander and I will be attending a party." Cordelia eyed the little man.

"Sign it, Summers. It'll offset some of your delinquency. You too, McNally."

"Fine." Buffy grumbled.

"Alright, already." Jesse agreed. Snyder wondered off to hassle other students.

"Sadly he's not something I can Slay." Buffy mourned, as they headed towards the library, collecting Amy on the way. They were rather surprised to see Tika smiling shyly at Nancy Doyle, a classmate of theirs.

"Did I just read that right?" Jesse asked, surprised.

"Tika might like girls," Xander nodded. "She's making eyes at Nancy. Expands the scope of those we need to remind to not hurt her. Providing Nancy is even interested back, she usually prefers blonds."

"So this party you're going to," Buffy changed the subject as they pushed the library doors open in front of them, "where is it?"

"Aura's." Cordelia answered. "I hope it stays quiet out there, but vamps, you never know,"

"Most Wesen are going to go out in woge." Xander told them. "It's like the talent show, it doesn't violate Wesen law and it's only a couple of hours."

"As for Buffy's concern." Giles interjected. "Most vampires and demons see Halloween as an annoyance, they tend to avoid it."

"Last Halloween was quiet too." Xander agreed, holding out a chair for Cordelia, as Jesse held one out for Amy.

"I need to find a costume for myself." Buffy said, feeling glum. "I was planning a night in with Mom. Are you woging it or getting a costume, Amy?"

"I'm going to do both. I thought a traditional witch costume with my Hexenbiest face would be a good costume. So, you, me, Jesse and Tika go costume shopping together? I figure Queen C is going to drag Xan to shop with her."

"I don't consider it dragging." Xander informed her. "I'm a pack mule when Cordy goes shopping,"

"And since he's so strong he can carry a lot of bags." Cordelia agreed.

Which is how Xander and Cordelia found themselves going to Party Town to pick out costumes and the other four went to Ethan's Costume Shop.

"I like this one." Xander pointed at a Robin Hood as a fox costume from a Disney movie. "Compliments your own foxy self rather nicely, I think."

"I can go as the Maid Marion version, I just need an appropriate dress and I think I've found it." She pointed at a dark green medieval style dress and Xander agreed it would look good on her. After paying for their costumes they headed for her place to get ready.
