"Halloween is a quiet night!" Xander snarled as he dodged a blue bigfoot, that looked nothing like the real thing and he knew was a classmate. At least a minute ago it was and now it was something else. He punched it and it snarled back. "I don't even have my sword, all I have is a toy bow, it's plastic and useless!" As he punched it again. People all over the party were changing, well maybe about half of them, into their costumes. "Go down, you big blue wanna be, if the real Wildermann lay eyes on you, you'll understand you're an insulting joke." He punched it a third time and then grabbed it and slammed into the wall, leaving a blue bigfoot sized dent in the drywall. It staggered back and shook itself. Xander grabbed a chair and broke it over the thing's head and it finally went down. "I hope nothing I did to him caused permanent damage. Provided he turns back into a human when this, whatever it is, ends."

"We need to find the others, Xander. We have no idea if they were affected too!" Cordelia reminded him. "Amy said she was going as a traditional witch, I have no idea if she went as a good witch or an evil one. What did Jesse go as?"

"A samurai."

"Same question. And Buffy went as a Pink Lady from Grease and Tika wanted to go as something she saw on tv called a Yellow Ranger, she thought the color was pretty."

"The Yellow Ranger is a sort of superhero, from a kid's show." Xander told her. "Which means both she and Jesse should be able to look after themselves if they've also turn into their costumes, Amy too. Buffy, on the other hand, well it depends on if she went as Sandy or Rizzo. Rizzo would stand a much better chance of looking after herself."

"Rizzo would probably hotwire a car and head to Los Angeles."

"I'm pretty sure Magic is going on here and we need to figure out why it's only affecting some people and not everyone."

"We also need to help the people here, Xander." Cordelia pointed. "Look, Aura's turned into a real cat. Some demons and some Wesen eat cats."

"Alright, you grab her and I'll knock out and secure anything that looks dangerous. I don't think I see anything I can't handle. Then we go find the others. You'll need to track them."

"I'll do my best, but it's possible whatever did this is affecting their scent, but we have to try." Cordelia agreed, as she caught Aura the cat and tucked her under her arm. The little cat was not happy to be caught by a Fuchsbau in full woge and was struggling. "Relax Aura, if any part of you is still Aura, I don't eat cats!" She carried the Aura cat upstairs and locked her in Aura's private bathroom. "Hopefully you'll be safe in there until we figure this out."

Once they felt they could leave, the couple headed out to try to find their friends.

"Xander, is it my imagination or are there pint sized monsters running around?"

"You're not imagining it, I think they're little kids that got changed into their costumes. Gods, when I find out who is responsible for this mess I'm going to twist them into a pretzel. These kids could hurt people and never know it. Most of the Wesen went out as themselves, so they should be unaffected, any we run into let's get them rounding up the kids, if they're not already doing it."

"We should try to find Buffy first." Cordelia suggested. "She's the one most likely to be in danger if she did transform, we can take her home and let her mom take care of her."

"If she's transformed, she's not going to recognize her mom. I can put her out without causing lasting damage, that should make it easier." Xander decided.

Cordelia began trying to track Buffy, along the way they ran into a number of untransformed Wesen who were trying to catch the transformed kids.

"We're taking the ones we catch to the High School." Hogan Martin, the boar Wesen that had helped Xander save Cordelia from the Wesenrein on Day of the Nightmares told them. "Their parents are going to pick them up there anyway, hopefully they'll have turned back by then. Any idea what's happening?"

"Aside from Magic, no. Anyone gets a clue, try to stop it. Pass it on."

"Will do, I'm pissed. My little brother's out in this mess. He hasn't woged yet and went as SpongeBob. If he gets hurt, I'll do some damage myself."

"Understandable, just hold it together and don't kill anyone." Hogan nodded grimly and headed off to try to round up more kids as Xander and Cordelia continued working to track down Buffy. They finally found her, swearing a blue streak, in between smoking a cigarette and lounging on a picnic table at a park a few blocks from her house.

"Pretty sure she's transformed." Xander said dryly. "Given she pretends she doesn't have brown hair and Pike might smoke but she doesn't."

"On account of her mother would kill her." Cordelia agreed as Xander decided wasting time trying to talk to the transformed Buffy was unnecessary and grabbed her in a sleeper hold, before putting her over his shoulder and heading for her house.

"Xander! What's going on?!" Mrs. Summers demanded when they knocked on her door.

"Magic. Any idea where Buffy got her costume? Someone seems to have decided to play some kind of sick joke and turned people into their costumes, but not anyone we know that got their costumes from the same place we got ours."

"Ethan's Costume Shop. Put her on the couch and thanks for bringing her home."

"No problem, we're going to go check out this Ethan's Costume Shop, see if it's necessary to have a word or three with the proprietor."

"Xander, why does Buffy smell like smoke?" Joyce asked.

"Her costume must have come with fake cigarettes that are no longer fake."

Now Joyce was the one snarling.
