Okay so I know it's been a few years since I updated this and I'm sorry for keeping you waiting for so long, but it's better late than never I guess. So here's the first bit of their second date and a little bit of spying action from our Dedsec crew. Happy Reading!
Aiden's P.O.V.
I was currently getting myself dressed for my date with Clara and as I was shuffling through the clothes in my drawer, I found myself having a hard time finding something at least a little different to wear. I knew I usually wore just t-shirts and jeans, but I wanted to try wearing something new.
I continued to rummage through my drawer until I found a white buttoned dress shirt. I pulled it out and displayed it in the air in front of me wondering if I should wear it. No. That would seem too formal for this occasion. Still I was running out of ideas as to what I should wear and I was wondering if I should wear this underneath something like a sweater.
I set the dress shirt down and searched once again through my drawer until I find a light gray sweater. As for pants, since I had nothing but jeans, I decided to pick a darker brown color of them to match.
I stripped off the clothes I had previously worn to school which consisted of a brown leather jacket, a white t-shirt, and blue denim jeans, and I tried on the clothes I had picked out. Once everything was assembled, I checked myself out in the mirror. The sweater was a V-neck so it allowed the collars of my loosely done dress shirt to stick out and the jeans gave the outfit a more casual look.
After viewing my outfit again, I decided to go with the look and just when I'm about to leave my bedroom, I took notice of a black baseball cap sitting on my nightstand. I'm not sure why it had caught my attention or how it even got there, but I found myself putting it on just to see what it would look like. I didn't think it would suit me, but once I looked in the mirror again, I was surprised to say that it went well with my outfit so I decided to keep it on.
I grabbed my phone off my nightstand and checked the time which read, "3:55." Clara should be here soon. I had to admit that I was excited about spending more time outside of school with her. I was looking forward to getting to know her, but I'm not sure how she'll react if I go into detail about my history. The neighborhood I used to be in back in Chicago was rough and regardless of being away from it now, the things I witnessed and took part in still stick with me.
I wondered if I should just be subtle about my past, or if I can at least provide some honest detail, but then if I do that I might scare her off. She seemed a bit shaken up about something this morning and I could tell it wasn't just about having her own under garments on wrong. Was she nervous about asking me out? Did it have something to do with her ex?
Maybe I'll find out tonight. I just hope that things work out. I really liked Clara and I think I was starting to view her as more than just someone I'm sexually attracted to. Looking back on all the times we've interacted, I've found myself drawn to her sweetness, humor, and her feisty attitude when it comes to Defalt or some other thing where she feels she has something to say.
I didn't want to lose Clara just because I told her about my rough past. I sighed as my excitement turned into nervousness within a span of two seconds. A light squeaking noise interrupted my thoughts as I jerked my head up to see Nicky standing at the door holding it ajar.
"Hey," she greeted me quietly as she made her way inside my room.
"Hey, Nik," I greeted her back as I put my phone in my pocket. "You get the audio I sent you?"
"Uh, yeah. It sounds convincing enough."
"Okay." I nodded. "How was your day in school? Any run-ins with Cody?"
"No. He wasn't there today luckily."
"Good."
Our conversation went silent for a few seconds before Nicky spoke again.
"So, is that what you're wearing on your little date with Clara?"
"Yeah," I said, catching her growing smirk. "What? Let me guess, you think I look terrible?"
"I hate to say this, but you don't look bad for once, especially since that hat is covering part of your face so I don't have to see it," she giggled.
"You're awful." I playfully nudged her shoulder.
"I've never seen you wear that hat before. It makes you look..." She paused. "mysterious."
"Mysterious?" I chuckled. "That's not the look I was going for, but I guess it's better than being called terrible."
"Oh no, your face still haunts me, but the hat makes it better."
I laughed. "Well you're not the one I'm dressing up for, so your opinion doesn't matter." I playfully scowled at her while crossing my arms.
Nicky scoffed before she rolled her eyes. It seemed that Nicky was back to being her normal self and I was glad to see it. Hopefully after she shows the recording to the school, Cody will get in trouble and never come into contact with Nicky or any girl for that matter ever again.
I heard a car horn beep from a distance and that was when I knew Clara had arrived. My previous thoughts and worries from before resurfaced, but I hid it from Nicky by pretending to not look worried. She knew about the things that I had to do to protect her and mom in our old neighborhood to some extent and she seemed to accept it. Maybe that was just because she was my family, but Clara could potentially see it as dangerous.
I took a deep breath as I mentally prepared myself to walk out the door. Nicky seemed to catch on to this as she looked at me with furrowed brows.
"You okay?" She asked.
"Yeah," I answered while I tried to play off the excited yet nerve racking feeling in my stomach. "Why?"
"I don't know. You just seem stiff," Nicky observed me.
I scoffed lightly. "How am I stiff?"
She continued to stare at me before it seemed to hit her. "You're nervous, aren't you?"
Although a part of me knew she would catch on, I was still caught off guard. I found myself not being able to form a response as I stood awkwardly.
"Seriously. What's the matter?" She asked me with a soft voice while placing her hands on her hips.
I took a deep breath while glancing around at anything in the room but her. I knew Nicky would only press me for answers if I tried to ignore her.
"Well..." I felt hesitant to tell her considering that she was younger than me and doesn't have much experience with these things, but at the same time, I wanted to get it off my chest. "Clara wants to get to know me on this date and I don't know what I should tell her about me since...you know we lived in that rough neighborhood in Chicago."
I watched her shift uncomfortably as a small frown formed on her face.
"Oh." She crossed her arms. "Well maybe be subtle about it. You don't have to tell her everything about you, you know."
"I know, but she's probably going to want to know more about it and I'm not sure if I can be subtle about...being involved with gangs."
"Well you're not running with people like that anymore, right?"
"No, I'm not."
"Okay then maybe just start off with telling her that you lived in a rough part of town. Try to leave the gang part out if you can. Even if you tell her that you were part of one, you still did it for somewhat of a good reason, even though it was bad."
"Yeah, but-"
"You're not doing it anymore and that is what matters. If you truly think it will scare her off then just don't tell her. I'm sure you're going to be fine, Aiden. And hey, if things don't turn out then we'll just watch movies and eat poptarts when you get back, okay?"
A smile managed to make its way to my face. "Alright. Deal."
Just then, I felt a vibration in my right jean pocket. Assuming it's a text from Clara, I pulled my phone out and just as I suspect, there was a message that read, "Hey. I'm outside in case you didn't hear the horn lol."
I replied, "Don't worry. I'm on my way out."
I put my phone back in my pocket and turned to Nicky.
"I should head out then."
"Alright. Good luck, big brother," she patted me on the shoulder.
I took a deep breath and headed to the front door, but before I opened it, I heard Nicky say, "Try not stare at her butt," with a giggle.
I could feel the blood rush through my face at Nicky's words.
"Fuck off." I let out a nervous chuckle, feeling embarrassed as my face started to heat up.
Wanting to make sure Nicky didn't get another word in, I quickly exited the house being sure to shut the door behind me. I released a long sigh before I caught sight of Clara exiting her car which was parked in the driveway. Once she came into clear view, I was a pleasantly surprised by her option of clothes.
Instead of her usual punk look with either jeans or fishnets, she was wearing a short black dress that went down just above her knees. The dress was off-the-shoulder and it had a pattern of dark roses. There was a hint of her punk self once I gazed down and saw her wearing her long biker boots similar to the ones she wore when we went to the bowling alley. I'll admit, I did love seeing her in those boots.
As we both made our way up to each other, Clara was the first to say something.
"It's about time you came out, I thought you would bail on me," she said with a half smile.
We both studied each other for a moment and I noticed that instead of her usual light pink lipstick that she would usually wear, she had dark red lipstick on instead. Her light blue eyes popped out with her dark eye makeup, and despite her appearing a bit different than all the other times I've seen her, she looked beautiful.
"Wow," I muttered under my breath as I looked her up to her half shaved jet black hair tossed to the side which looked like it had been curled, all the way down to her boots.
Clara continued to study me and it was hard for me to tell what she was thinking, specifically about my outfit.
She didn't say anything for a few seconds, but once her eyes landed on mine, she said, "I could say the same. I don't think I've ever seen you wear a hat before."
I couldn't help but laugh a little at her tone.
"Is it illegal for me to wear a cap or something?"
"No," she giggled and continues to stare at me with slightly raised brows. "You look great. I never thought I'd see you wearing a sweater."
"Neither did I think I'd see you in a dress. Honestly, you look cute," I compliment her with a smirk while admiring her.
"Oh," I noticed her cheeks turning a light pink which made me adore her even more. She quickly tried playing it off and she put on her best confident smirk. "Well thanks."
My smirk grows wider. "Is that a blush I see on your face, Lille?"
She stares at me as her face continuously grows more red.
"Oh shut it before I call it quits on this date," she playfully threatens me with a small giggle.
"Alright, alright," I chuckle while raising my hands in defeat.
"Good. Let's get going then," she says while gesturing me to her car.
I follow her to her car but instead of going to the driver's side, Clara walks over to the passenger side and opens the door.
"After you," she bows down and gestures her hand towards the seat.
I try to stifle a laugh at her old school act.
"Why thank you," I bow back to her before getting in the car and I can hear her giggle.
I could feel the light cool air from the air conditioning hit me as I sat down and I get a good whiff of a peachy fragrance. I instantly get comfortable as Clara gets in the car.
"Alright. Off to the movie theater then." Clara says as she starts to put the car in reverse.
I'm not sure what to expect entirely from this date, but I could feel my excitement growing. Clara felt nice to be around and it was any easy flow to talk to her. I just hope I don't end up scaring her off.
Wrench's P.O.V.
"Ah, look at those two," I said while watching Aiden and Clara from the car window. "Our Claiden ship is sailing."
"Wrench, can you pay attention to me for a second?" Marcus snapped his fingers at me which made me look at him. "Do you have a plan for us if we get caught?"
"We're not gonna get caught, Marcus. We are masters at stealth," I reassured him.
"Right. Like that's gonna work with all of us as a group."
"We just have to make sure that they don't see us. They're going to be watching the new Cyberdriver movie and we can just go in and get tickets after they go inside."
"Wait, did you just say that they were watching Cyberdriver featuring-"
"The one and only..." I positioned my hands into finger guns pointing upward and said with my deepest voice, "Jimmy Siska."
"Aw shit! Now we definitely have to follow them!" Marcus blurted out in excitement.
"Just keep in mind that if you yell, not only will they see us, but we'll be kicked out," Josh said.
"So, try to keep it in your pants, guys," Sitara said in agreement.
"Oh shit they're already pulling up to the stop sign," Marcus panicked as he immediately put the car in drive.
"Don't make it too obvious, Marcus," I warned him. "You're our only hope here."
"Relax, I got this," he said and I observed that he is in fact keeping a distance from them. Good.
"We're lucky he is even driving compared to you. We probably would have already crashed into them as soon as we pulled out," Horatio practically insulted me.
"That is incorrect. It would have been a few seconds more before I hit them," I corrected him.
Horatio shook his head as I looked away from him and focused on the road. So far, Marcus was keeping a steady tail on our fellow soon to be couple and as long as we kept this pace, we wouldn't get caught.
Aiden's P.O.V.
We arrived at the movie theater and when Clara parked her car, I got out before she could use her courteous gestures and open the door for me. She seems to take notice and eyes me with her mouth gaped open.
"I was going to do that," she scoffed as she got out of the car and closed the door.
"Well you'll have to be quicker next time," I teased her with a smirk.
Clara released a huff before walking with me towards the movie theater. I caught a glimpse of a small smile on her face which lead me to believe that she wasn't totally mad at me.
We made our way inside and purchased our tickets and Clara made sure to pay for us this time. Once we got the tickets, we made our way to the concession stand. We decided to just get two small buckets of popcorn with some sodas.
As we headed inside the theater, I could see that there were several seats already being occupied by either nerds and fans of this movie wearing the merch for it, or disappointed looking parents.
Clara and I took a seat in one of the middle rows and got ourselves comfortable.
"It seems there are actually people who are truly excited for this," Clara stated while glancing around the theater.
"Yeah. I don't see why. Luckily they're showing previews, so our sanities are saved for the time being," I said before taking a sip of coke.
She lightly laughed. "Seeing this many people taking this movie seriously is already making me lose my sanity. I guess they're allowed to like it, but still."
I shared a laugh with her before tuning into the previews. In the corner of my eye, I caught a group of people huddled together in a blanket while walking into the theater. Although it was a little dim in the theater, I could see that they were trying to keep each other warm...I guess? Was it that cold in here?
As they pass by, I turned my attention to the big screen. A few minutes later, it became darker in the theater and the screen grew wider which made me prepare myself for the inevitable. The title appeared on the screen and I knew right then and there, we were in for a show.
During the first twenty minutes of the movie, Clara and I couldn't stop laughing at the awful CGI and acting. I couldn't believe a movie with such a terrible budget was in theaters in current day.
"Why does he keep making those stupid "cyber" puns?" Clara asked as she attempted to stifle her giggles.
"Does he not have any other jokes?" I replied with another laugh while snacking on my popcorn. I was practically trying not to choke myself while eating it.
Despite our attempts to quiet ourselves, our laughter got louder which resulted in a few people taking glances at us. I could make out some of their expressions through the dark and I caught them giving us disapproving looks. Were people actually taking this movie seriously?
We made one last effort to stay quiet until we saw the most ridiculous shit which was Jimmy Siska trying to do a cartwheel like it was some kind of cool stunt, but he ended up looking like an amateur. He looked like he was about to tip over before he finally got his footing right and aimed the gun towards the main villain of the movie. I was biting my tongue at this point while trying to contain my laughter.
But just when I thought I had it together, before Jimmy Siska shot the villain, he shouted, "KAPOW MOTHERFUCKER!"
I lost it and Clara did too.
Our laughter boomed through the theater and now I was pretty sure everyone was staring at us. I heard Clara coughing and I turned to see her nearly choking on her popcorn.
"Are you okay?" I asked between laughs.
"Yeah," she giggled after another cough.
I was trying to catch my breath while holding my chest, trying to recover from my laughter.
"Excuse me," I heard someone behind me say and I turned around, "You two are too loud and you're disrupting our peace."
It was two guys wearing Cyberdriver t-shirts. They were cradling their Jimmy Siska figurines as if they were newborn babies. I almost wanted to laugh at the sight, but I held it in. I think I heard Clara snort beside me which made it that much harder to contain myself.
"We don't mean to be loud and we're very sorry for 'disrupting your peace', but..." I leaned forward and said in a hushed tone, "the action in this movie kinda sucks."
They both gasped as if they've just witnessed a murder.
"Excuse me, sir, but how dare you insult this magnificent piece of art." One of the guys gestured towards the screen that was showcasing Jimmy Siska dancing over an unconscious body.
My lips were stretching so wide, I thought my entire face would rip. No way were they serious. I wanted so badly to tease the ever living shit out of them, but we just got here not too long ago and I didn't want us to be kicked out so soon.
I cleared my throat. "Okay, okay. We are very sorry for laughing at this amazing art. We'll keep it down."
"It's truly incredible," Clara remarked sarcastically and winked at them before turning around.
I turned around as well.
Clara huddled close to me whispering, "Yes, let's keep it down. We don't want to upset the nerds. I mean this is really a masterpiece when you think about it. The stellar acting and the elegant dancing Siska is doing there really gave that away."
Her nostrils flared up and her cheekbones were sticking out with her wide toothy grin. I wanted to laugh, but her closeness gave me goosebumps. The way her warm minty breath lightly brushed against my skin made me shiver. I had to get a hold of myself now before I lost my train of thought.
I attempted to brush the feelings off with a chuckle. "Yeah. Wouldn't wanna get kicked outta here."
We shifted our focus back to the movie and did our best to take the movie at least the slightest bit seriously. The buttery scent of the popcorn entered my nostrils as I continued snacking on it.
The movie continued on for another ten minutes and a scene with Siska taking his 'cyber' car out for a cruise with two kids he saved was on the screen.
"Alright, kiddos. Listen up. This baby right here is one of a kind," Jimmy explained while he patted the side of his car. "Now it's VERY important that she is taken care of. You script kiddies will never know a true bond with a car like this until you're older."
The car spoke. "Oh, you have such a way with words."
"It comes naturally, my dear sweet automobile. You certainly cracked the code to my heart."
Jesus. Another hacking joke?
I buried my face in my hands, feeling the secondhand embarrassment.
"No way they put this in a movie," I murmured beneath my palms. I heard Clara wheeze next to me.
"Um, sir who even are you?" One kid asked in the car's backseat.
Jimmy halted the car in the middle of traffic and multiple cars had to slam on their brakes.
"Who am I?" He slowly turned towards the kids and lowered his sunglasses. "Some call me...Devon Von Devon, but I'm more commonly known as the one and only..." He pointed both of his finger guns upward. "Cyber..."
"Cyberdriv- gah!" I heard a loud voice coming from a distance behind us.
I jerked my head around to see if it was those two nerds, but they were also looking to see where the noise came from. I squinted, but couldn't see anyone because of how dark it was in the theater. I shrugged and turned back around. I turned to Clara and she didn't seem to care. I brushed it off and continued watching.
"Do we have a lead on those robbers?" Siska asked the car.
"I'm trying to calculate. I remember they 'ransomware' over there."
"Don't worry. We'll 'cache' them."
Good God. I didn't know how many more puns I could take. I rubbed the side of my temple as I peeked over at Clara who was hunched over and trying to hide her laughter. Her back was quivering and I could hear small parts of her laughs. I cracked up a smile as I hunched down with her.
"You okay?"
I heard her mutter something I didn't understand, probably in french.
"Define okay," she whispered, her voice trembling.
She poked her head up at me with her hand clasped over her mouth and I noticed tears rolling down her cheeks. Her cheeks were raised so much from her smile that she reminded me of a squirrel trying to hide acorns in its mouth.
"I...I sh..shouldn't be laughing this much. It's so stupid." She tried to catch her breath, but she ended up snorting in the process.
Her laughter was contagious and I caved in again, but this time I was more quiet. After some fits of giggles, my stomach cramped. Clara and I managed to calm ourselves down as we continued to watch the rest of the movie. I could have swore I heard the geeks mutter something behind us, but I didn't care.
After an hour, the movie finally came to an end and it was at the credits. Some people were getting up to leave as the lights faintly turned on.
I stretched my arms and yawned, feeling like I had been in this seat forever.
"Well that was definitely..."
"Cyber-tastic?" Clara finished the sentence.
I chuckled. "Yeah. Something like that." I stood up to stretch my legs. "You ready to head out?"
"We can't leave yet. Apparently there's a post-credit scene."
"Ah, jeez." I sat back down. "As if our day couldn't get any more cyber."
"You'll make it." She patted my knee.
The credits rolled by and the scene we had both been waiting for popped up. It showcased Siska observing the rainy city below him from a tall building with the cyber car parked next to him. I could only guess the city was London judging from the style of the buildings.
Lighting flashed as he turned to look behind him. He comes face to face with a bad CGI clone of himself staring at him.
"Who are you?" Siska asked his twin.
The twin smirked. He removed his own sunglasses, revealing red eyes.
"I'm you, but bettuh..." the twin uses an awful fake accent.
The screen went black. The lights fully came on and more credit rolled.
"That's it?" Clara said between giggles.
I watched her throw her head back and slam hand on the arm rest as her giggles turned into cackling. She wiped oncoming tears off her face and she held her stomach while laughing. It was cute the way she sounded when she laughed. Her little snorts and the genuineness of her laughter was something I didn't mind listening to.
"Woo..." Clara's laughter died down while she waved her face. "Okay. I need to calm down."
She sniffled while catching her breath. I could hear the geeks grumble amongst themselves as they got up from their seats and made their way to the exit. I rolled my eyes. I was glad they had left. They were starting to get annoying anyways.
I turned my attention back to Clara who was breathing deep and slow with her hand on her stomach. It was nice seeing her bubbly and happy. It was something I never got tired of seeing.
She glanced over in my direction with a smile still plastered on her face.
"What?" She asked once she caught me staring at her.
Only now did I realize I had been smiling at her. Her mischievous grin made feel like I was put on the spot.
I cleared my throat. "Nothing." I glanced around the theater to see more people heading out with their cyberdriver merch. "We might as well head out now before people start thinking that we're actual fans of this movie."
I stood up again and yawned again.
"I'm right behind you," Clara stated as she stood up as well.
Wrench's P.O.V.
"Aw come on. They're dicks for leaving us with a cliffhanger like that," I whispered harshly. "I mean what's he doing in London and why does he have a twin?"
"Could be his long lost brother or maybe...he's an evil robot," Marcus spoke in a monotone voice, mimicking a robot.
"He definitely has to be some type of evil robot. What I don't get is how will Devon be able to defeat himself? And again, why the hell is he in London?" I stroked my chin, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.
"Who knows why he's there, but I bet some serious shit is about to go down if they're giving him an evil twin."
"Guys."
"They better not nerf Devon like they did in the last movie cause that pissed me off."
"Come on, man. You just mad cause he didn't fight the way you wanted him to."
"Marcus, we're not starting this debate again."
"Guys!" Sitara's voice alerted us. "They're leaving."
She pointed towards Clara and Aiden making their way to the exit.
"Ah shit!" I bolted out of my seat. "What are you guys waiting for? Let's go."
I caught glimpse of their annoyed faces, but didn't care less as I was already scooting my way past the seats. My head was still stinging from earlier.
"Damn, Sitara. You nearly ripped my hair out," I said while rubbing my head.
"I had to. You were about to blow our cover," she explained while following behind me.
The others got up too.
"I still think this is beyond stupid," I heard Horatio mutter.
"And yet you still came with us, so zip it," I said.
We made our way past the seats and towards the exit, making sure to keep a distance from the pair. I could see them both still laughing about the movie. Aiden leaned towards Clara's ear and whispered something which caused her to clasp her hand over her mouth.
"Don't say that." I faintly heard her snort again.
Should I be offended that they are making fun of my childhood hero? Yes. But did I blame them for laughing? No. Even I knew that some of the dialogue was corny, but I wasn't worried about that right now.
They continued to snicker about the movie until Clara brought up something about going to a pizza place. Not long after, they were making their way out of the theater and we made sure to follow behind at a safe distance.
"Did you guys hear that?"
"Yep. I'm already searching up nearby pizza places," Sitara said while she scrolled through her phone. "That way a particular somebody won't get us lost."
She eyed Marcus who looked at her in disbeflief.
"Ay that was one time. You should be worrying about him." He pointed towards me. "He's always the one getting us stranded."
"Moi?" I placed my hand on my chest with question marks on my mask. "I would never."
"Alright. Alright. Let's go before they beat us to the pizza place because you two won't stop arguing," Sitara instructed before walking past us along with Horatio and Josh.
I gave Marcus the side eye as did he.
"Yeah, come on, slow poke." I winked at him while I marched towards the exit. "Or are you already lost?"
"Man, fuck you," Marcus snorted before he followed suit.
A few seconds later, we were outside and we got into Marcus's car. We could spot Aiden and Clara going inside their car as well. They started up their car and they were already backing out of their spot. Marcus waited a few seconds before starting up the car. I rubbed my hands together and kicked my feet in excitement.
"Alright. Let's go."
