The scene shifts to a 13 year old Iola Potter on the mirror with Sirius. "...and I've been having this nightmare," Iola tells Sirius, "it's really creepy. There's this cackling man, and another person who screams a lot. Then there's all sorts of lights, and a big red splatter."
"I wonder what her vision is," Lydia whispers to her father, "mine was of Arianna Dumbledore and yours was of Morgana Le Fay."
"The first vision is important," Fleamont points out, "that person becomes your personal guide and attendant. Of course, I've spoken to many spirits, including Merlin himself, but Morgana has a special place in my heart."
"We know," Sirius rolls his eyes, "and she adores you."
"Should I be concerned that one of the darkest witches to ever live adores your father?" Benjy asks Lydia, "cause that's a huge red flag in my book."
"Gana's a lot tamer now," Lydia reassures him, "centuries of being dead does that to you."
"I was afraid of this," Sirius sighs, "I'll have to induct you when you return from school."
"Induct me into what?" Iola asked worriedly, "what's going on Daddy?"
"All will be explained in two months, love," Sirius sighed, "Merlin! I wish this didn't have to happen."
"I trust you Daddy," Iola said, "but I expect a proper explanation."
"And you'll get one," Sirius promises, "on an unrelated note, Amy and I plan to get married next winter."
"That quickly?" Iola asks.
"Yup," Sirius smiles, "we both want to move as quickly as possible, because we want Susan to be able to move in before her transfer."
"Oh," Iola says, "where's Suzy transferring?"
"Back to Hogwarts," Sirius says, "Dumbledore's retiring, so Amy feels comfortable sending Susan back. Susan doesn't like it at Beauxbatons very much anyways. You're welcome to stay at Illvermorny if that's what you want."
"So Susan went to Beauxbatons," the Bones Family chatter amongst themselves, "wonder why Amelia sent her there?"
"It is what I want," Iola says, "no one is trying to get me to be the next Lydia Potter. They're just trying to get me to be the best witch I can be."
"Then we made a good choice sending you there," Sirius smiles, "thank Merlin for your Great Aunt Tina."
"Thank Merlin indeed," Iola says, before blowing a kiss at the mirror, "bye Daddy, go to go."
"Goodnight little star," Sirius hangs up the mirror.
"That was so cute," Alice gushes, "who would've thought Sirius would make a good dad?"
"Me!" Lydia jumps up.
"You don't count Dia," Frank points out, "you are Sirius's #1 fan."
The scene shifts to the end of the school year, and Iola is saying goodbye to her friends at the airport.
"I'm going to miss you," Iola hugs them all, "you're all welcome to come visit me, and I'll try to come sometime this summer."
"We'll miss you too," Lawrence says, "right, Leopold?"
"Definitely," Leopold rolls his eyes, "every minute of every day."
"I'll miss you too Leopold," Iola says cheerily, "Ms. Hicks, could you take a picture for me?"
"Of course," Lally smiles, "say cheese!"
"Cheese!" The group shouts, and takes some wild pictures.
As Iola boards, she shouts, "Don't forget to call me!" The others just wave goodbye.
"I'm glad she has friends," Lydia leans on Sirius, "don't you agree, Benjy?"
"Definitely," he answers. Benjy is honestly confused. Over the course of three hours, he's not only found out he marries Lydia Potter and dies, he also has a little girl. A little girl with a woman who talks to the personification of death on a constant basis. A little girl who will start talking to death on a day to day basis. What was so special about him, a regular muggle-born, that caused the heiress to one of the biggest wizarding families to love him. To marry him. To sleep with him. Merlin this was weird to think about.
The scene shifts once again, and Iola is being apparated into Potter Manor.
"The twins are ready," Sirius is for once, serious, "and I left some things for you to change into. I don't exactly have a spouse, so I'm doing this on my own. I'm going to need your full cooperation."
"What's going on?" Iola asked, "what are we doing?"
"Remember you told me about your nightmares?" Sirius asks, "well, we're about to get this all fixed up. I know it's a lot, but we don't have much time. I promise to explain after we're done."
"I trust you Daddy," Iola says, and goes to change. Her outfit is identical to the one her mother wore, all those years ago, except for the circlet. She had her own circlet, an astonishingly beautiful piece, and it was strange. She wondered what this was for.
"You're ready," Sirius noted happily, "let's head to the hidden room. There's only so long he'll be patient for."
"Who's he?" an 11 year old Callie Potter asks, a skip in her step, "and do we get to sacrifice something? I hope we do. Also, are we part of a cult? Or are we just weirdos?"
"She's definitely like Sirius," Euphemia laughs, "but she has a lot of her mother's features."
"I agree Cara Mia," Fleamont says, "but if I'm not mistaken, those eyes are unmistakably yours."
"I guess Lyddie's project worked," Euphemia hummed, "good for her."
"You'll see," Sirius smiled mischievously at his daughter, "I'm not sure you'll like it very much though. You two aren't the firstborn, so there is a limited amount you can do."
They arrive at the door, and Sirius puts his hand on it. His eye's glow silver, and the door opens wide for him.
"So the magic is learnable," Rookwood strokes his beard, "we can bring it to the Dark Lord, and he'll certainly be able to master it."
"I'm not sure it is learnable," Bellatrix points out harshly, "the Potter's seem extremely shocked Sirius opened the door. I have a feeling it's more complicated than that."
As Bellatrix said, the Potters were in shock. It quickly turned to amazement though.
"My little heart," Fleamont stood up, and spun his daughter, "you've crossed into magics previously uncrossable. I have never been more proud."
"I know!" Lydia said breathlessly, "I can't believe it worked."
"Whoa," Benjy looks around in shock, "I thought Mum was the magical one. How did you make this stuff Dad?"
"Your Mum is the magical one," Sirius laughs, "I didn't make this stuff. Welcome to the Potter's biggest secret. The Peverell Laboratory."
"Like from The Three Brothers," Benjy pointed out. He'd gotten the best of his parents' brains.
"Exactly like them, little bird," Mortem cooed, "and little grim, have you finally brought the little enchantress's girl before me?"
"Yes," Sirius grunted, "Iola, Benjy, Callie, meet Death, also known as Lord Mortem on this physical plane."
"Hi!" Callie chirps, "I'm Callie Potter! I didn't know that death had such a long beard. Do you keep all the dead puppies as your personal pets? Because if I were you, I totally would."
Fleamont Potter cackled in his seat. "That'll show Mortem!" he laughed, "our granddaughter's the best, isn't she Effie?"
"Oh she certainly is," Euphemia chuckled, "Sirius, you're going to have quite the mess on your hands."
"I can tell," a horrified Sirius Black stared at the screen, "does she want to get killed?"
"You know Morty loves us," Lydia teases, "but she's certainly a gryffindor. That much is for certain."
"Oh!" Mortem's face burst into a smile, "what a wonderful idea. You are certainly bright little starlight."
"Thank you," Callie bows dramatically, "I would like to thank my parents for bringing me to this moment."
"I like her," Mortem whispered to Sirius, "she reminds me of you and the little enchantress."
"Yeah yeah," Sirius rushes, "but I didn't come here for that. I need to induct Iola. She's been having nightmares the last few months, so it's high time I brought her."
"Hello little jewel," Mortem greeted Iola, "you're the eldest of the Potter's aren't you?"
"I am," Iola stood tall, "Iolanthe Serena Potter at your services."
"Iolanthe!" Mortem looked positively delighted, "perfect! Come now, approach the waters. The little grim will perform the ritual, and your nightmares will finally subside. They will simply change into a different form."
"Okay," Iola whispers nervously, "can Daddy come with me?"
"He'll accompany you as much as possible," a deep voice said, "I'll be helping Callie and Benjy." Regulus Black walked into the room.
"Why is Regulus involved?" Lydia asked, "we don't reveal this secret to anyone, and he looks too much like the Blacks to be the same case as Sirius. What could have happened in the future?"
"I don't know," Fleamont looked gobsmacked, "I hope we find out."
"Little detective," Mortem cooed, "it's been a while since I've seen you."
"I'm not a Potter," Regulus rolls his eyes, "why would I see you?"
"Always the clever one," Sirius said, "get the twins ready Reggie. I want this over as quickly as possible." The two men prepared the children, and as soon as they were ready, Sirius stood at the water bank, and began chanting.
(O Great Death! Bow before me! I, Sirius, son of Fleamont, son of your favored bloodline, command you to accept my sister's daughter, Iolanthe, as her mother's heir and successor. Accept her as your mistress. Give her the gifts you have promised this family since the time of Ignotus Peverell. Finish what you've already started. Show her her soul! SHOW HER THE SPIRITS! The people in the hall CANNOT hear or see this. This is purely for the readers sake.)
Sirius's eyes glow, and Mortem dissolves into golden light, and flings himself into Iola. Sirius watches nervously from the water bank.
The scene switches to Iola's mind.
Rabastan Lestrange is seen on the prowl. Fellow death eaters Evan Rosier, Ethan Burke, and Conner Rosier are seen behind him.
"So either Rabastan is dead," Bellatrix's mouth curls into a smirk, "or he killed someone. I highly suspect it's the latter option."
Rabastan shoots a spell at seemingly nothing, but the spell hits a concealed shield. A very concerned looking Benjy Fenwick departs from the house.
"Oh no," Lydia whispers, burying herself into her father, "I can't watch."
"Someone's there!" Benjy shouts into the house, "Moody, you need to get the muggles to safety. I'll hold the line."
"Are you a fool?!" Moody barked from inside, "that's suicide!"
"Then tell Lydia I love her!" he shouts, pulling out his wand, "If I go down, I'm going down fighting!"
"I promised your wife I'd keep you safe!" Moody shouted, but to no avail. Benjy had already begun fighting. "Let's get out of here," Moody grunted at the people, "I have a suicidal colleague to help."
"Crucio!" Ethan shouted, aiming the red spell at Benjy. Benjy dodged, and sent a bright yellow spell that immobilized his feet, before knocking him out with a stunner.
A four-way battle began, with Benjy having the upper hand. He, after a while, manages to knock the Rosiers out.
"EVAN!" Rabastan shouts, "oh you're going to pay for that." The duel continues, and Burke is hit by his own spell that Benjy reflects back. Benjy is seen tiring, having been dueling four ways for a half an hour. Rabastan takes advantage of this, and shoots a deep red spell at him. Benjy shrieks in pain as it bypasses his shield, and falls to the ground bleeding.
"You'll pay for hurting Evan and Conner," he snarls, pulling a knife out, "Bellatrix and Narcissa will kill for letting their cousins get hurt. Might as well say I nabbed the guy who did it." Rabastan begins using his wand and knife, and slowly chops Benjy up alive, as Benjy screams in agony.
The hall screams in disgust and fear, and many people turn their wands toward Rabastan. They stop, however, when silver mist begins floating.
Lydia doesn't even scream when she hears her future husband shouting. She whispers under her breath, and silver magic floats around the hall. Rabastan Lestrange panics as the silver magic rests on him. He immediately feels uncomfortable, as if a part of him is missing. Unbeknownst to him, Lydia cut his soul into fractions. He'd never feel whole again.
"Oh Benjy," Kingsley Shacklebolt, the boy's best friend sobs, "why are you so noble?"
"My daughter is watching this," Benjy looks on horrified, "my daughter is watching me get mutilated."
"Now for the heart," Rabastan grins sadistically, "I'll take the heart and head as souvenirs." Benjy is stabbed in the heart, and his eyes go blank. He's finally at peace. Moody arrives, moments too late, and roars a battle cry, which scares Rabaastan off. Moody prepares the death eaters for azkaban, and begins collecting as much of Benjy as possible. Aurors arrive, and Moody hands the death eaters over.
"Where are you headed?" his partner asks as he begins to leave, "we need your statement."
"To return Fenwick back to Potter," Moody says, face grim, "and tell her the news."
The scene shifts.
"Hello there," a voice sounds, "I've been waiting to see you." Benjy Fenwick in all his glory approaches his daughter.
"Dad," Iola breathed, before running to hug the man.
"My sweet, sweet girl," Benjy cried, "how I've longed to meet you."
"This is so bittersweet," Dorcas Meadowes whispers to Kingsley, "look at them."
"I know Dor," Kingsley whispers, "I wish they got better."
"I wanted to meet you too," Iola sobs, "why were they so cruel? Why'd you leave me? Why did you have to fight?"
"Oh, my dearest treasure," Benjy wipes her tears, "I regret it every day. Because of my recklessness, I never got to meet my little girl. I left your mother all alone. Your grandparents chewed me out so bad when I got here."
"My grandparents?" Iola asked, "Fleamont and Euphemia?"
"The very same," Benjy says, "they want to meet you."
"Oh," Iola looks around, "where are we?"
"The land of the spirits," Benjy explains, "it's where souls go after death. You get to see me, because I was chosen to be your guide. I'm going to teach you how to use your abilities. Soon, you'll be able to summon spirits of your choice."
"Why?" Iola asks, "why me?"
"Sirius will explain it to you," Benjy says, as the place begins to glitch, "we only have so much time. Just know that we'll see each other soon, and I love you so much. Tell Sirius I say thank you. Tell him I'm glad you have him as a father."
"I will," Iola promises, "I love you dad."
"I love you too Iola," Benjy smiles sadly, and the scene shifts to Sirius, Euphemia, and Lydia.
