The image of King Cold and the Cold Force, familiar as they were, were present as all the Saiyans immediately fell to their knees as a sign of reverence… no, not reverence, not respect… fear. Overwhelming fear… for that the Frost Demon was far stronger than them, elicited a form of power and respect over their own King that was impossible to ignore or even stand against. Even Kohlrabi, for all her own respect for her King, instinctively lowered herself out of fear for an individual that was a mountain of individual whose power was about the equivalent to half of Frieza's own. [1]
Faster and far beyond that any of them could expect, they could only watch with bated breath as they were drawn to the scene that was already replicated years earlier. The arriving craft rushed haphazardly at breakneck speeds, at first, towards Planet Vegeta; their own home, and uncaring of what it caused, and many Saiyans recognized themselves as they exited from the comforts of their home and where they occupied.
"Dammit… hey you assholes! Watch where you're flying!" Against his better nature, Leek called them out with a furious glint in his eyes, watching as one of the crafts smashed a large chunk of their own home away, breaking it off into pieces and sending it toppling down.
Leek had to turn away at his own duplicate self from above at the images, shouting furiously at the Cold Force. But none of the other Saiyans could ever warn him to shut his mouth. The ship of the Cold Force was now arriving; the image continued to play out. And they recognized immediately where they were heading, only ever lasting for a split second to the destination.
The Saiyan Royal Castle was filled with hushed gasps and murmurs. Kohlrabi, Coriander, and many of the elites themselves watched. They all could only watch from outside the palace.
"That-that can't be…" Coriander watched, speaking as if in a trance. "Why is the Cold Force here now? They… they said they weren't going to be back until months later! It couldn't have to do with that transfer of leadership!"
Kohlrabi narrowed her gaze at the ship's shadow that casted a dark figure over them from within the Royal Castle. She cursed under her breath. King Vegeta himself, situated on his throne, watched, a scowl forming on his face.
"Great King Cold has now arrived, your majesty…"
"I'd say that's pretty obvious." King Vegeta gritted his teeth. He looked to his female elite, who was already turning back to him. "Kohlrabi!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Get every Saiyan to get out of the Main Hall and give the command for them to arrive here! Now! Send that order to Colonel Turles, Paragus, and every other Saiyan out there!"
King Vegeta, along with the numerous elites, widened their eyes at the order they once recognized. They had thought it entirely different. The mention of Turles did not affect them for the moment; none of them were invested in the rogue Saiyan, or even the image of Paragus there as well, still staring at the image before them that had already happened years earlier and now was playing out once more.
"Ah, about time! Eh… Burter?" Jeice looked gleefully at their surroundings, then back up to his captain. "Lot's of them monkeys here too! Guess we made quite a scene!"
"Indeed…" Burter glanced around, a smirk playing on the blue skinned alien's face.
"Later, both of you." Ginyu responded to their small chat. But even then, Ginyu was grinning. "All together now!" Recoome and Guldo were already ready, and all posed immediately as they landed.
"Hoo!"
Following them were a company of numerous their employers' own forces also landing. The ones standing from the left and right most landed with a large accompanying thud, their hatches opening immediately to reveal a large number of forces donning the standard issue armor of the Cold Force.
The one in the middle, circular shaped and the largest, opened its own hatch at last, after a moment's deliberation to make a deliberate scene to where it was meant to garner the attention. Its ramp touched down on the floor of the entrance.
King Vegeta, along with a handful of elites, were already approaching. Berryblue, Kikono, and King Cold also exited from the craft, and a young Frost Demon as well, resting in a hovercraft, taking the ramp that transformed into a miniature escalator.
They always did like theatrics.
"Sir… it's King Cold…"
"Quiet." King Vegeta retorted with a glare at one of the guards, then back up at King Cold. With a breath, he and the accompanying elites of his best, Kohlrabi included, approached him.
"Great King Cold, it's an honor to have you here!" He raised his hand in a way to shake with the tall Frost Demon before him, a smile forming on his face.
Instinctively, all the Saiyans held their breaths. The man in the cowl smiled from where he stood. Now no longer in the middle he stood to the side. It wasn't just to provide more space for the Saiyans to fully see their past, but also rather, where he could clearly see all of them.
King Cold simply smiled. It was posturing. Nothing more. As a fellow King, he perhaps did respect the King of Saiyans a bit, but that was nothing. It was all just posturing and showboating, pretending he did have a semblance of power and control, when they all knew who held the power in the palm of the hands, and it wasn't the Saiyan King.
Regardless, he would get down to business why he was here. "Well, King Vegeta. We're both busy individuals… I won't waste any more of our time. I do apologize for my unannounced visit. Of course, I would warn you so you and your people would be… adequately prepared for my sudden arrival." He glanced at the Saiyans behind him, many of low and middle classes still not yet ready, before shrugging.
Immediately, all the Saiyans looked down once more, as if they were being mocked by King Cold himself on recording before them.
Bastard… Many of them cursed, but did not dare to say it out loud.
"Getting down to business…" He glanced at his side to his pride and joy, patting him lightly on the shoulder. "This is my son, Frieza, King Vegeta. Of course, I did inform you of the news about him for quite some time, but here he is in person for the very first time." He raised an almost amused brow. "I'm aware you also have a son born this year… Vegeta, was it? Perhaps they'll get along quite well, but for now…"
Frieza brushed his father's arm off of him, gazing up with a crimson gaze that held every hint and piece of glee, simply smiling at the man, expectantly.
The King immediately fell to his knees, lowering himself even despite the height difference between the two. "Yes! Of course, my apologies! It's a… a pleasure to meet you… Lord Frieza."
Frieza stared down at the King, for a moment before the smile slipped on his face once more. "Oh, King Vegeta. I do believe the pleasure is all mine."
The words burned through every Saiyan and the King himself, both in the seeming recording and the King here and now, forcing them to lower their vicious gazes down to the floor.
"Anyway… I'll get straight to the point of why I'm here."
Those words, spoken by King Cold, made every Saiyan turn their gazes back up to the Frost Demon, both in the past and now.
"I'm retiring from my position effective immediately. I do believe you know what that means, King Vegeta?" He continued. "It's quite tiring after years of trying to manage all these planets and make sure everything functions as smoothly as possible in the Trade Organization, so I've lent my ownership to my son. From this moment onward, Frieza will be your commander, and you and your people will serve under him."
King Vegeta gasped audibly, unable to hide his surprise and shock. "Sir! Does that mean…
But he did not say those words out loud of the black sheep of the Cold Family, and he was suddenly glad that King Cold cut him off. "Oh, don't worry, my King! Nothing's changed, really. Actually, much at all. The Saiyans will continue to serve under us and our Planet Trade Organization…" He put a hand to his chin, as if thinking, then returned his gaze back to the King. "Oh, there is perhaps one difference. You'll find that my son has a far shorter temper and is even more cold hearted than I am." He let the words be emphasized on the last part.
Frieza brushed his father's arm off once more, before he looked around. Clearing his throat, he raised his voice several octaves higher. "Hello, monkeys! I have such high expectations for each and every one of you! And for your sake…" The smile turned cold, and his eyes seemingly glowed with malice. "I hope you do live up to them."
Every Saiyan trembled as those words once more slided through them like an icicle. Even Bardock simply could only glare, hatred in his eyes as he recalled the scene that he had thought was nothing but a distant memory.
"To commemorate my rise to power, I brought along some new combat equipment and items to help aid you in your servitude." Motioning a member of his army forward, the case popped open, presenting a small clear blue tinted device resting in the slots. "These are called Scouters. You'll find these are far more compact and accurate than the sadly outdated surveillance scouters you have been using until now. They also function as communicators. After all, you Saiyans do travel in packs and teams, and so this should be far more accurate to your tastes." He glanced meaningfully at the elites besides King Vegeta; their heads nearly touching the floor.
Frieza smirked. He decided to might as well give the Saiyans a show. "The display for these should be familiar and no different. They show your target's position and battle power just exactly as the older scopes used to…"
The Saiyans recognized now what the image was moving towards, unable to stop it as it played out once more, unable to do anything as they relived what they considered possibly to be the worst moment in their lives.
"Oh… what is this? It appears that a number of Saiyans in your castle have weapons trained on us!" Frieza looked down at the King. "Perhaps a few of your own have gone rogue, acting against your orders and of their own accord? I surely do pray for it; after all, father spoke highly of you and your people and we wouldn't want to start off on the wrong foot, would we?"
King Vegeta's eyes widened and he gazed down at the floor, unable to respond, sweat trickling off his forehead and terror and realization filling his eyes. Both his image self and now seemingly replicated the same response beat by beat. Kohlrabi's eyes narrowed in a glare, unable to do anything to what had already happened.
"Let's see… that Saiyan from that tower on the right has a battle power of… 2000. Oh, that's quite an impressive number." Before any of the Saiyans could react, before any of them could even respond, Frieza charged energy through his pointer finger, and pointed at the tower. A crimson thin ray of light shot through his finger like a bullet, smashing through the tower and blasting apart a chunk of it.
None of the Saiyans even now could react, watching as their new "leader" fired three beams through his fingertips, smashing and piercing through the buildings as if it was made of tinfoil.
Frieza lowered his hands once more, and dusted them off theatrically, smoke and ash filling through the air. "As you can see, they're useful, are they not?"
King Vegeta lowered his gaze down to the floor. Behind him, many Saiyans, even Kohlrabi, watched in horror behind her, unable to move as the rest of the Saiyans.
"As a token of our new relationship, I will leave behind a shipment of 500 units as a gift for your troops. I do hope you put them to good use. And if you don't feel that's enough for you to complain…"
The angle of the recording of the past made it that Frieza was gazing down at the Saiyans once more, and they lowered their heads.
"I do believe we're done here."
None of the Saiyans moved even after they had left, even as the image faded to darkness. All were left bowing in their servitude before, and then now, leaving nothing but silence behind, only to ruminate in what they had just seen.
The opening scene is adjusted a bit with some additional dialogue. I won't be entirely following the movie bit by bit and piece by piece. The few extras are to make it flow smoother than just hopping from one to the next. I will be removing some scenes and adding in a few of my own, to not just avoid probable copyright issues but also make it so that it doesn't feel jarring.
Tell me your thoughts so far. Rewriting the opening was a hassle but I was excited
[1]- King Cold was as strong as Frieza, it was confirmed that King Cold himself was about half of Final Form Frieza at 50%, not his First Form. Frieza explicitly mentions to Goku that he had been the first individual to put "dust" on him since "his parents". Remember, Frieza's Final Form was his original form. It was stated he was ridiculously strong that he had to create three weaker forms hence his First, Second, and Third Form, and nobody but King Cold and likely Cooler knew that Frieza's "Final Form" was his original form. All the Saiyans only ever saw Frieza in his First Form. Vegeta himself didn't know about it until Zarbon mentioned to him in their first fight that he and Frieza could "transform". So King Cold is not half of First Form Frieza, because that would make him 265,000 since Frieza was 530,000 as he mentioned to Nail. He was about equivalent to 50% Final Form Frieza, thus making him relative as well to Frieza Saga Goku in Kaioken x20, whom Goku also scales to.
