"I'm really nervous for the next part," Lydia whispers to Sirius, "it has not been going in a good direction."
"I'll be here to hold you through it all," Sirius promised, eyes soft for his little sister, "I won't let go of you for a minute."
"You're the best," Lydia told Sirius, "I don't know where I'd be without you."
"Doing great," Sirius ruffled her hair, "you couldn't ever be anything but great."
"Not the hair!" Lydia shouted, pushing Sirius's hand off her head, "but thank you."
The scene shifts to an angry Lydia Potter on the battlefield. "Where's Lestrange?!" she shouts at the death eaters, eyes glaring, "speak quickly if you want any mercy!"
"Why would I tell you that?" Igor Karkaroff laughed, "why would I give him away? A punishment from the Dark Lord is far worse than anything you'll ever come up with." With that, he cast a powerful cutting spell at her.
"You think you can hold me off," Lydia smirked, quickly redirecting his spell back at him. The death eater screamed as his arm was chopped off. "Now talk!"
Karkaroff didn't respond, and simply quickly apparated away. Lydia snarled, and ran off to find Amelia, her current auror partner.
"MELIA!" Lydia screamed, shooting two powerful spells at the death eater who was trying to curse Amelia from behind.
"Thanks Lydia," Amelia huffed, sending a bright stunner at the last death eater, "I was almost done for."
"No biggie," Lydia shrugged, "let's get back to the office. I need to see if anyone else got more information on Lestrange."
"Don't you think you're taking this too far?" Amelia asked hesitantly, "maybe you should take a break."
"Can't," Lydia said, apparating the two of them to their office, "can't let anyone else get hurt."
"It seems our Lyddie turned into a workaholic," Euphemia sighed, heart clenching for her daughter.
"Grief works in mysterious ways," Fleamont puts a hand on his wife's shoulders, "and our Lyddie has many friends. I'm sure they'll help her through her grief."
"I hope so," Euphemia glanced at the current version of her daughter. It was hard to believe that this sunny girl would turn into the angst-ridden young adult on the screen."
"I still think you could use a break," Amelia sighed, "but who am I to tell you what to do?"
"You're my-" Lydia started, but immediately felt a wave of nausea overtake her. She suddenly began clutching on Amelia, feeling quite dizzy.
"Lydia!" Amelia gasped, looking the woman over, "are you hurt anywhere?"
"No," Lydia stumbled around, still leaning on Amelia, "I just feel a little dizzy. Help me to my desk, will you?"
"I'm not liking the implications," Tina whispered to Newt, "Benjy's dead and Lydia's not feeling very well. I have my suspicions."
"As do I," Newt whispered softly, "but let's wait a little before jumping to conclusions."
Amelia immediately guided the stumbling woman to her desk, and made her comfortable. "Wait here," she rushed out, "I'm going to go get Sirius."
Moments later, a bleeding Sirius Potter rushed to his sister's side. "Lyds!" he shouted, "what's going on? Do you need to go home?"
"I'm fine Pads," Lydia rolls her eyes, "I just had a bit of a dizzy spell. I'm perfectly fine."
"You nearly collapsed," Amelia interjected passionately, "you're not okay Lydia. You're overworking yourself!"
"What's going on here?" Frank and Mad-Eye walk towards them.
"Dia!" Frank's eyes widened at his cousin's state, "what happened?"
"Nothing Frankie," Lydia says frustrated, "everyone's overreacting. I just felt a little faint. It's been happening for a few weeks at this point honestly. I'm perfectly fine."
Frank looked at Lydia for a moment, digested her words, before coming to a conclusion. "Can I speak to you alone Dia?" he offers his hand to her, "Sirius can come if he wishes."
"What's going on Frank?" Mad-Eye asked gruffly, "what do you need to discuss with Potter?"
"I have some suspicions," Frank whispered, "and they're of a rather sensitive nature."
"It seems Frankie has the same idea we have," Tina turns to Newt, "this is going to be a disaster."
"She is not going to take it very well," Newt agrees, "there's going to be a lot of drama unfolding in the next few scenes."
"Okay," Mad-Eye dropped the subject, "I'm just worried. She's not been taking care of her health in the last few weeks. It's already been a month and a half since Benjy died. I think she needs a bit of an intervention."
"I agree," Frank sighed. He hated that his two cousins were in such a delicate state of mind.
"Don't forget about Sirius," Alice creeped up on the two, "he's not as noticeable, but he's been beating himself up about the whole situation."
"I know," Frank smiles sadly at his wife, "but seeing how his romance with Dorcas is blossoming, I'm hoping that he's managed to put himself back together. How are you feeling, my love? Baby bothering you?"
"Congratulations!" the Bones triplets congratulate their partners in the auror field, "that's great news!"
"I agree," Gideon smiled, "you 2 deserve happiness."
"This confirms it," Tina mutters to herself, "Neville and Iola have similar birthdays. It can't be a coincidence."
"Congratulations by the way," Mad-Eye said, voice softer than normal for his favorite auror pair, "I know you've been waiting a while."
"Thank you," Alice smiled, "now Frank has some things he needs to discuss with Dia. Isn't that what you were doing?"
"Oh right," Frank blushes, "come Dia."
Lydia, Sirius, Alice, and Frank all enter Frank's office. It's much more private than Lydia's public cubicle. They can talk in privacy.
"What do you need to talk about Frankie?" Lydia asks, "is there something wrong with Aunt 'Gusta?"
"No," Frank said softly, "there's nothing wrong with her. This is about you."
"Me?" Lydia's eyes, in that angle of light, looked as if they were glowing silver. But that was impossible. Must be a trick of the light.
"Yes you," Frank sighed, "I've been really worried. You've been really tired these days, and I noticed you've begun eating a lot of chocolate frogs."
"Why is that concerning?" Lydia snapped at her cousin, "I'm perfectly fine Frankie."
"I'm not going to beat around the bush," Frank responded calmly, "is it possible that you're pregnant?"
"That's what this has been about!" Lydia exclaimed, a slight blush on her features.
"I mean, it's really no surprise," Pandora remarks, "Iola had to exist. If Benjy's dead, then that means she's technically been pregnant this whole time."
"This is not going to end well," Alice worriedly informs Frank, "Dia doesn't look like she's ready to hear that."
"I hope she doesn't do anything reckless," Frank wraps his arm around her, pulling her closer, "I don't want any more pain for her."
"Pregnant?" Lydia's eyes widen, and she begins to cry, grabbing onto Sirius, "do you really think so?"
"Yes," Frank continues, voice soothing, "I really do."
"I can't be pregnant," Lydia continues crying, "I just can't. Not without Benjy here."
"Oh Dia," Alice's voice is comforting, as she goes to hug the younger girl, "it's going to be alright."
"I need to be sure," Lydia stands up, "how do I do that?"
"I think the best idea would be to go to St. Mungo's," Alice suggested, "Frank and I can take you if you need."
"Thank you Frank," Euphemia turned to her nephew, "thank you for taking care of my little girl. You too Alice."
"Of course Auntie Mia," Frank reassured his aunt, "she's family. Family takes care of family."
"Please," Lydia begs, "I need to know."
"I'm coming too," Sirius insisted, "I'm not leaving you at a time like this."
"You need to go speak to Mad-Eye," Lydia insisted, "Frankie and Ally will help me. Please Siri."
"Okay," Sirius reluctantly gives in, "I'll go speak to him. You three should head off now."
The scene switches to the three of them sitting in a St. Mungo's room. Frank is squeezing Lydia's hand, making sure she feels safe.
"The tests came back positive," the doctor informs the three of them, "congratulations Ms. Potter. You're about 2 months in."
Lydia sags into Frank. "I really am pregnant." She's strangely silent after that. Frank and Alice speak to the doctor, something about follow up appointments and what not. Lydia can't think straight. All she knows is that a piece of her beloved husband was still left. Benjy had left her one more gift. A gift that was currently growing in her womb.
"She's taking this better than I expected," Euphemia tells her best friend surprisingly, "I would have thought she'd freak out."
"Maybe she's still in shock," Augusta suggests, "I'm sure she'll flip out later. We both did when we found out we were having a child."
She was barely aware when Alice took her hand to apparate her home. She was barely aware when she found herself at the gates of Potter Manor. She was snapped out of her trance when a worried Regulus exited the house.
"Lydia?" he asks, seeing the woman slumped against Alice, "what's wrong? Where's Sirius?"
"He's okay Reg," Lydia smiles softly at the boy she'd taken under her wing, "and I'm fine as well. Just a little shocked, that's all."
"Someone electrocuted you?!" Regulus shouted angrily, whipping his wand out, "who do Sirius and I have to hunt down?"
"That escalated quickly," Frank looks at his cousin, " do you mind introducing me to the random child who's in your home?"
"Regulus," Lydia waves dismissively, "meet my cousins Frank and Alice Longbottom. Frank and Alice meet Regulus Black, Siri's ex-brother. We faked his death, and he's been living here ever since."
"Oh," Alice said, confused how to respond to that, "pleasure to meet you Regulus."
"Is Lydia okay?" he asks Alice, "she's not giving me a straight answer."
"It seems that Regulus has gotten attached," Sirius smiles despite himself. He's glad that his little brother could come to love his sister the same way he did. Despite the fact that future him changed his very biology, he doesn't think his love for his brother could ever change. His brother was only a kid, he had, with these films, slowly realized, and he can't fault him for taking the easy way out of the abuse. He can't fault him for not being able to grasp right and wrong, because the line was so skewed in their home. He cannot, despite all his logic screaming the opposite, bring himself to hate his little brother. His little King. His little dreamer. His little scholar.
"I'm glad," Andromeda smiles widely, "he always seems so closed off. I'm glad he can learn to forge meaningful connections."
"If you're happy," Ted smiles lovingly at his wife, "so am I"
"I think she'll be okay," Alice reassures the young boy, "she's just discovered some very shocking news."
"I'm pregnant Reg," Lydia blurts out, "Benjy didn't leave me alone."
"Oh," Regulus himself is shocked, "that's great news Lydia. Does Sirius know?"
"Sort of," Frank answered for Lydia, "he was there when we suggested it to Lydia, but he didn't come with us to St. Mungo's."
"Alright," Regulus says, "it's almost dinner. I've already set up for Lydia. You two are welcome to join us."
As soon as Lydia was settled by the dinner table, Frank pulled Regulus aside. "If you're going to be living with Lydia," his tone was serious, "I'm going to need you to read this book." He handed him a book titled The Guide to Pregnant Witches: Medical and Practical Advice for Loved Ones of a Pregnant Lady. "I purchased this when I found out Alice was pregnant," Frank explained, "and I'm giving it to you. I'm trusting you to help my cousin out. We'll be here to help, and so will Sirius. But if you're living here, you're going to have to be informed."
"Thank you," Regulus thanked Frank, "I'll read it as soon as possible."
"Good," Frank nodded at Regulus, and went to join Lydia at the table.
The scene switches to the Voldybusters discussing the last horcrux.
"You're not coming and that's the end of discussion," Sirius put his foot down, "besides, you can't even drink polyjuice anyways."
"Detail," Lydia brushed him off, "I'm pregnant, not useless."
"We never said you were," Regulus placated, "we haven't told you to quit the aurors or anything, have we? No. We just said you can't go on this particular mission. It's far too dangerous."
"Someone's getting angry," Dorcas commented from her seat, "Lydia doesn't look like she's going to take this well."
"Does she ever take a no well though?" Kingsley asks rhetorically.
"She does not," Dorcas agrees, "this is not unexpected."
"I will not allow people I love to go alone again," Lydia hisses at the pair, "Benjy died because I wasn't there to help him. I'm not letting you two go off to break into Malfoy Manor alone."
"It's not going to turn out like that," Sirius promises Lydia softly, "we're going to be careful."
"I don't care!" Lydia shouts, face all red, "I'm not allowing you two to sneak in. What if something happens, and I can't get to you fast enough?"
"How about we compromise?" Sirius sighs, "the auror department has been considering raiding a few houses for suspicion of death eater activity. I'll suggest Malfoy Manor, because the Malfoys are associated with the Lestranges."
"That's a much safer idea," Lydia agrees, "and I can rest assured that you'll be safe."
"I'll get myself on the team," Sirius continues creating a new plan, "saying that I want to be able to catch Lestrange myself. I'll take the cloak, sense the horcrux, and run in and out unseen."
"It'll take more subtlety than that," Regulus rolls his eyes, "but it's all around a good idea."
"I'll be investigating Lestrange Manor," Lydia smirks, "I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get a good lead on Lestrange. He'll get what's coming for him."
Rabastan Lestrange trembled in his seat. He was hoping the terrifying Potter witch would never find future him. That feral grin was starting to creep him out.
"I feel like we should be concerned," Regulus whispered to Sirius.
"Nah," Sirius grinned, a feral one not unlike his sister's, "don't you think Lestrange deserves it?"
"You know what," Regulus tries his own hand at the feral smirk thing. He does a pretty decent job at it. "I think you're right."
"I think they've finally indoctrinated Regulus," Remus whispers to Peter, "and I'm scared of the possibilities."
"You're not alone in that," the meek boy responded nervously, "they're really scary."
The scene shifts to Lydia Potter, alongside an auror party consisting of Alice, Frank, and Amelia raiding Lestrange Manor. Another team, consisting of Sirius, the Prewett twins, and one Bones brother was simultaneously shown raiding Malfoy Manor. The scene refocuses on Lydia's team, though.
"I think I hear something," Alice, after 20 minutes of searching suddenly voices, "it's coming from the floorboards."
Bending down slowly and with difficulty, Lydia puts her ear to the floor. Voices could be heard from under. "Got you," she sing songs as she stands, "accio loose floorboards." The floorboards fly into her hands, and the aurors rush into the secret room. A fight breaks out, spilling back into the upstairs through another secret door. Lydia gleefully duels Rabastan, grinning as his bravado is lost to her powerful spells.
"I'm going to kill you like I did your filthy husband!" Rabastan shouts, trying to get the upper hand by using emotions. It had the opposite effect. It made her angrier, and ten times more forceful.
"Don't speak of my husband!" she shouts, finally getting him down with a powerful paralyzing spell. She immediately knocks him out, ties him up, and moves onto her next opponent. She takes down two other death eaters, and joins Amelia in dueling Bellatrix Lestrange. The last few standing, Bellatrix, Rodolphus, Antonin Dolohov, the Rosiers and a masked man, were slowly losing. Dolohov and one Rosier were already disarmed, wands in Frank's capable hands. Alice was expertly beating Rodolphus. The aurors were almost done, when the second Rosier decided to uneven the playing field. He summoned the Dark Lord.
"Our Lord will deal with those pesky insects," Bellatrix burst out happily, "isn't that right Rodolphus?"
"Seeing as both women survive to have their children," Rodolphus disagrees, "I don't think the Dark Lord will be able to kill them. Best he'll likely be able to do is rescue us."
"The Dark Lord is far more powerful than those filthy blood traitors," Bellatrix sneered at her husband, "how dare you belittle Our Lord?!"
"Calm yourself Bella," Narcissa's cool voice drifted from her seat, "you're causing a scene. Our families are in enough hot water right now. We do not need you making it any worse."
"Narcissa is right," Cygnus tells his daughter, "wait patiently."
"They summoned You-Know-Who!" Frank hisses to Alice and Lydia, "you need to get out of here. We'll take care of it."
"We're not leaving you," both witches pin Frank with a deadly glare. He doesn't have the time to argue. Voldemort appears, and they have bigger issues than leaving.
"Ridiculous," his voice is smooth yet raspy, "my top death eaters cannot handle 4 aurors. I will have to punish you for this. For now, leave. I will deal with the aurors."
"Thank you my lord," Bellatrix bows, "we will accept our punishment." The remaining death eaters disapparate.
"You 4 are talented," Voldemort spreads his hands out, "join my ranks. We can reward you much more than the pay of an auror."
"You really are mad," Lydia provoked, "I can't believe people really follow you. We'd never serve a madman like you."
"Then I'll have to kill you," Voldemort shrugs elegantly, "I gave you a chance. Too bad you didn't take it." Immediately flurries of spells are cast, and the four powerful aurors duel one of the most powerful wizards to ever grace Earth. Lydia, however, had an ace in the sleeve. Powerful spells, death in nature, flew from her hands and wand. Voldemort began struggling, the fight being extremely difficult. Suddenly, their backup arrived, and more aurors began entering the mansion.
"You win this time," he hisses, before disappearing in a dark flash.
"They just fought you-know-who!" The hall burst into conversations, people marveling at the power and talent of the future aurors.
"That's my children!" Augusta nudges her best friend, "look how well my Frank and Alice did."
"And my lovely little pearl," Euphemia added, "she did wonderfully."
"That's our baby sis!" the Bones triplets cheer, their wives laughing at their husbands' co-dependency on each other.
"Potter! Longbottom!" Mad-Eye shouts, going for the most vulnerable first, "are you two alright?"
"I have a cut on my face," Lydia groaned in pain, "I think I broke my arm, and I got hit by a piercing spell on my foot. Other than that, I think I'm fine. I've already patched my leg up. I'll take a blood replenishing potion when I get home."
"Same here," Alice swept her hair out of her face, "minor injuries. Frank's already healed most of it."
"What about you Amy?" Gabriel Bones fussed over his sister, "all good?"
"I think I may have a broken rib or two," Amelia was leaning on Frank, and was deposited onto her brother, "other than that, no major injuries."
"How are you so uninjured for 4 aurors who just fought you-know-who himself?" Kinglsey wondered aloud.
"A lot of luck and skill," Lydia answered, "can someone please make sure the captives are taken in? Because there is a lot I'd like to say to Lestrange."
"Thank goodness they're all okay," Hestia released all the tension in her body, "I was really worried for them."
"Let's head to St. Mungo's," Gabriel suggested, "Amy, you'd probably want to be there anyways. Alina just gave birth. It's a little girl. They've named her Susan after you."
"So it seems that I fathered Susan," Liam blushed, "nice to know."
"Lucky man," Edgar nudged his brother, "your little Susan is adorable."
"She is," Alina Bones smirked, "cuter than your Elladora."
"How dare you?" Edgar thundered, "my Elladora is the cutest." The films continued before a civil war could erupt amongst the Bones family.
The scene shifts to the Voldybusters sitting in the living room.
"It was difficult to not report the secret room," Sirius scowled, "but it's for a much larger goal. If you-know-who knew any dark artifacts were found in Malfoy's house, he'd go try and move the horcrux. Then he'd notice it was missing, then he'd look for the others, see they're missing, and then we'd have issues."
"I know," Regulus tried comforting him, "we'll get them one day."
"I'm just letting you two know," Lydia took a deep breath, "but I've resigned from the aurors, effective immediately."
"Makes sense," Sirius shrugs, "if I nearly died, and technically almost killed my unborn child, I'd also want to retire."
"Good," Sirius states, "you need to stay safe. You're not just looking out for yourself, but for your child."
"I'm aware," Lydia sighs, "I almost died today. I nearly died, taking my child down with me. This is the third time Alice and I have fought you-know-who together. We don't want another rematch. The two of us have decided to retire together, and to help from the sidelines."
"About time honestly," Regulus says, "you are both in your second trimester. She's five months in, and you're four and a half. You've already started showing Lydia. It's not safe to be on the battlefield."
"So three months have passed since she found out," Euphemia noted, "she's looking rather good for a pregnant lady."
"She definitely didn't get it from my side of the family," Fleamont says, voice sad, "my mother died in childbirth. She was sick the entire time. It must come from your side Cara Mia."
"You don't have to remind me!" Lydia snapped at Regulus, before sighing and apologizing, "sorry Reg. My emotions are all over the place."
"It's alright Lydia," Regulus reassures, "I've learnt to take all your words with a grain of salt. The book said your hormones would be out of control."
"I'm definitely feeling it," Lydia stretches on the couch, "this really sucks."
"Do we want to have the Yule party this year?" Sirius suddenly asks, looking up from a letter, "because Auntie Tina just sent a letter asking if we're still having it."
"Tell her yes," Lydia immediately sits up, "I need our family. Also, I kind of haven't told them yet, and I feel Yule, as a time of rebirth and new beginnings, is a great time to tell."
"I wonder how everyone's going to react," Nico whispered to his sister, "that'll be fun."
'If I'm not mistaken," Lyetta whispered back, "I'm probably also pregnant. Michael is in the same year as Neville and Iola."
"Good point," Nico whispered, "I guess it's just baby season."
"Yule Party?" Regulus asks, "So I'll hide out in the lab, right?"
"What?!" Lydia and Sirius shout, "hide?"
"Never," Lydia swears to Regulus, "you're welcome at our party. They're all trustworthy people, and people you-know-who isn't going to target. They're foreigners who he has no interest in. And the Longbottoms, who as you know, are already quite aware of your existence."
"I guess," Regulus digested this, "but I'm not part of your family. Wouldn't it be strange for a random person to be at their family gathering?"
"I was a random person seven years ago," Sirius informed his ex-brother gently, "and now I'm family. They'll welcome you with open arms. Actually, isn't Mal Reggie's age?"
"She is," Lydia confirmed, "and Jay's two years younger. I'm sure you'll have a blast. You need friends. You sit in an empty manor all day. Now I'll be home to keep you company, but that's not going to be enough. Trust me, I'll get on your nerves very quickly."
"It can't hurt," Regulus says contemplatively, "and you're right about needing company. I think I'll go berserk if I stay put any longer."
"I'll see if we can do something about that as well," Lydia says, "but for now, we have a Yule party to plan." The scene cuts back to Iola.
