"Ladies and Gentlemen~ Those of you who have gathered early for the Field Exam~ Congratualations and be rewarded with the first duel to kick things off before we oficially begin!" said Crowler into a Mic in the middle of the Duel Field where the Field Exams were to take place.
"From Obelisk Blue, we have one of our illustrious school's best and brightest~ Chazz Princeton!" The early gatherers let out their cheers and clapped to Chazz's introduction as he thrusted a fist into the air, making the Obelisks scream louder.
"Take her out, Chazz-!"
"Yeah BEAT that wannabe"
They jeered.
It was pretty clear who the favored was...
Not that she had much to say about it. She didn't really make much of an effort to stand out...
Guess that's what makes her lame?
"Annnnd from our Ladies Dorm~ also in Obelisk Blue- we have the lovely...Mia Hastings."
"Yeeeeeah! Go Mia!"
...Okay maybe she had a few fans?
Of course it would be guys though...
"Now without further adieu~ BEGIN!"
"With pleasure!" Mia smirked as she drew her first card. In a side ways glance to try and catch what her draw was, she noticed a couple of shadows above her. Glancing upward toward their source she found Alexis Rhodes, folded over the railing watching with intense curiosity, and beside her, Zane Truesdale, with arms folded, looking down at her in wait of whatever move she might make.
Just watch me, Zane...
She thought to herself.
And then...
I'll come after you!

"Man...talk about confidence." Alexis stated to the male beside her as she watched the brunette down below.
"She's completely calm cool and collected down there, huh? Though...she had some nerve wanting to try and duel YOU in her field exam..." she chuckled, " And I thought Chazz was bad..."
"Actually Alexis, Mia Hastings did beat me once." stated Zane.
"Wait say what!? Are you serious!?"
Zane nodded.
"It was at the Junior Championship tournament...though those small beginners type tournaments are often held as Match Duels." he explained.
"I see...a Match Duel, huh?" Alexis wondered, "That's the style with three rounds right? Best two out of three or something?"
"That's right." He stated.
"I see...so Mia Hastings beat Zane Truesdale one time in a match duel..." she sighed, "So i guess that means she couldn't win again, huh?"
"Not that time." he chuckled, "I was the Champion over all...but...she did place second." he said smiling, "Meanwhile Chazz down there took third so...he probab;ly has a little more of a score to settle with her than I do..."
"Huh...no kidding." Alexis blinked, "Well maybe I'll take back my doubt ...once I see what she can really do." she smirked.
"Indeed...it should make for an interesting match." said Zane.

"Now, following the rule of chivalary, I believe it's ladies first~" Mia beamed.
"Pff...yeah usually...but you're hardly a lady~" Chazz smirked, causing Mia to twitch before playing her first card.
"First...I'll activate a Spell Card...Different Dimension Capsule!" said Mia, "This spell card allows me to choose a card from my deck and place it in the capsule." she explained, "During my second stand by phase however, I get to then add it into my hand!"
"YAWN!" said Chazz, "You plan on defeating me by boring me to death?" he smirked.
"Hmph." Mia scoffed.

"Say Zane..." Alexis blinked, "That's kind of similar to a strategy you use, isn't it?" she blinked.
"Indeed." said Zane, "Let's see how she plans on using it." he stated.

"Next, I will place two cards face down." she said, "And then I will set this monster in Defense mode and end my turn."
"About time!" said Chazz as he drew his card, "And I dare say, Mia. this beat down coming your way is LONG over due!" he smirked, " First, I'll summon out Y-Dragon head!" he stated.
Y-Dragon Head: ****
ATK: 1500
DEF: 1600
"Y-Dragon Head?" Mia blinked, "I don't remember you having that card in your deck before." she stated, "What gives, Third Place?" she asked, "Finally lose faith in your old deck and decided to trade it in for a new one?"
"Hmph. Cute." Chazz smirked, "Actually this card, amongst other treasures- was gift for a later engagement~" he raised, "Oh well." he blinked, "No harm in testing out these new moves on you first~" he shrugged, "After all, that'd be the polite thing to do, and I-The Chazz-am a gentleman~"
"Gag me." Mia hissed and Chazz twitched.
"Careful what you wish for..." he muttered, "You might choke on it." he smirked, "I attack!"
Mia let out a gasp as a blast fired right at her face down Electric Lizard and she smirked.
"What's so funny!?" asked Chazz.
"Oh nothing~" Mia teetered, "The face down monster you attacked was my Electric Lizard, that's all." she shrugged.
"Yeah, so what!?" he huffed, "Electric Lizard is a weak monster, so I don't see the humor here..." he muttered.
"That's true..." Mia shrugged, "But you see~ what my adorable little lizard lacks in strength he makes up for in a unique little hidden ability~"
"Hmph...meaning?" Chazz blinked.
"Any monster that destroys my little pet-unless it's a zombie type- gets paralyzed for the next battle phase and won't be able to declare an attack!" she stated.
"What!?" Chazz huffed and let out a low growl, "You know what- whatever!" he huffed, "You'll only be delaying the inevitable just a little bit!" he scoffed, "I end my turn...your move Mia."
"Delay the inevitable huh?" she scoffed, "We'll see!" with a swift swipe from her deck her lips curled into a smile as she flipped the card between her fingers, "I activate the ability of my Thunder Dragon!" she stated.
"Oh no, not him..." Chazz mumbled.
"The very same!" she grinned, "By Thunder Dragons ability- If I discard this one to the grave yard, I can then add every other Thunder Dragon I have from my deck into my hand!" she said.
Great...
Chazz thought to himself.
With that move she already has two thirds of what she needs in order to fusion summon her strongest monster...
He mumbled as he shifted through his hand.
Calm down Chazz...she still needs Polymerization...and what are the odds that she will get that card right off the bat?
He blinked.
I still have time...with the new added power to my deck...I should be able to take her down before she has the chance to summon it!
"That's all for now." said Mia, folding her arms, "I end my turn."
"Hmph." Chazz huffed, "Fine...I draw!" he stated and let out a low growl, "Well since I can't attack you with Y-Dragon head this turn thanks to your annoying little salamander...I'll just go ahead and lay this monster in defense mode and place one card face down..." he stated, "Your move, dweeb."
"He's a lizard!" Mia muttered as she drew her next card.
"Whatever, just make your move!" Chazz huffed.

"That's strange I wonder why Chazz didn't attack her." Alexis blinked, "She's wide open for it."
"He's probably being cautious of Mia's face downs." Zane blinked, "But...not attacking her may prove to be the biggest mistake he makes in this duel."
"What do you mean?" asked Alexis, "The duel only just started..."
"Maybe so." said Zane, "However...it is now Mia's second stand by phase." he stated and Alexis gasped.
"Hey, that's right!" said Alexis, "Mia's capsule..."
"...And now it's time we see what she placed inside..."

Mia smirked.
"What's so funny, Hastings!?" Chazz huffed, "Man, it's creepy when you smile!"
"Tell me, Chazz...did you forget about my capsule?" she blinked.
"What!?" Chazz gasped as he shifted his onyx eyes to the coffin that placed itself to the side, now starting to glow.
Crap, I forgot!
He blinked.
Don't tell me...
"It's now my second stand by phase, Princeton!" she stated, "So it's about time to see what I placed inside~" she grinned as she held up her hand, and the card that was locked away was now released and placed into her hand, "I activate the spell card...Polymerization!"
"NO!" Chazz huffed.
Dammit so it was Polymerization she locked in the capsule...!
"With the power of Fusion, I can now combine the two Thunder Dragons I hold in my hand in order to bring out my strongest monster!" she beamed, "Twin headed Thunder Dragon!"
Twin Headed Thunder Dragon: *******
ATK: 2800
DEF: 2100
"Son of a bitch!" Chazz huffed in frustration.
"Woah, check that out!" said Alexis, "To be able to summon out such a powerful beast in just a few turns...that's pretty impressive." she blinked.
"And if you think he's mighty now~" said Mia, "Just wait until I power him up with Horn The Unicorn!" she said as she flipped the equo spell between her fingers and placed it on the field, "With this new extension, my beast now is 700 points stronger!" she stated.
"What!? 3500!?" Chazz huffed.
"That's right and he's gonna bring down thunder upon your Y-Dragon Head!" she declared, "Attack!"
"Auuuuurgh!" Chazz screamed as Twin Headed Thunder Dragon rained thunder all around the field, not only destroying his Y-Dragon Head, but taking a difference of 2000 life points in damage as well, "How dare you!?" Chazz huffed.
Chazz Princeton: 4000-2000
Mia Hastings: 4000
Mia smirked.
"I'll end my turn with a face down now and pass the baton to you." she stated, "Show me what you got, Third Place!"
"Quit CALLING ME THAT!" Chazz huffed as he drew his card with a low growl.
Shit...I've got nothing that can defend me against 3500 attack points!
Chazz thought to himself.
"I place a monster face down and end my turn!" he stated.
"Come on Chazz~" said Mia, "You can't defend forever!" she said as she drew her card, "I attack!" she declared. And another one bites the dust.
Dammit...
Chazz muttered as he raced through his thoughts.
She's right...I can't win this duel if all I'm doing is defending...
He blinked.
What the hell am I going to do!?
He blinked once more and sighed.
"I place another monster face down..." he stated, "and end my turn with a face down." he muttered.
"Fine." Mia huffed as she drew her card, "I'll summon out Susa Soldier!" she stated.
Susa Sildier: ****
ATK: 2000
DEF: 1600
"Susa Sildier?" Chazz blinked, "That's an odd summon...it's a spirit monster isn't it?" he asked.

"A Spirit Monster?" Alexis blinked, "What's that?"
"Spirit Monsters are incredibly powerful." said Zane, "However they have the down side that at the end of the turn they are summoned, they return to their owner's hand."
"I can see how that would be annoying." said Alexis, "But at the same time it can be useful..." she blinked, "If the monster returns to its owners hand then it's protected from attacks."
"Indeed." said Zane, "Spirit Monsters are tricky...but if you master them they can prove to be quite useful." he blinked, "In this case, for helping to clean up he field."
"Ah!" Alexis gasped.

"It's true..." said Mia, "Susa Sildier is a Spirit Monster...and they do return to their owner's hands at the end phase of the turn they are summoned." she stated, "However...I don't need him to stick around...I just need him to clean up~" she smirked, "I'll attack your face down monster with Susa Soldier!" she declared.
Chazz's eyes widened as he held his arms up to defend himself from the blinding light of his monster's destruction.
"You see...now you're open to the full force of my Dragon's attack!" she beamed, "You lose, Princeton!" she said and pushed her monster forward, his 3500 points of strength being more than enough to wipe him out.
"A-And there you have it!" said Crowler, "The winner of the first duel to kick off the Field exams...is Mia Hastings!"
The whole auditoriam filled with thundering roars of cheers and applause as Chazz fell to his knees and Mia waved her thanks to the crowd before brushing her fingers quickly through her flared and feathered hair.
I can't believe I lost...
Chazz thought to himself.
More than that...I couldn't do a damn thing!
He growled and thrusted his fist to the floor.
This isn't over, Mia Hastings...
You haven't seen the last of Chazz Princeton...!
"Chazz!" Crowler hissed, "The other first year duelists will be arriving for the field exam." he stated, "Come now...we've work to do."
"O-Oh, uhh...yeah..." Chazz blinked and rose to his feet. Granting one last glance toward the celebrating Mia, huffing in disgust before marching away with Crowler.

"So, Alexis." said Zane, " any thoughts on the matter now?"
"Actually Zane..." Alexis blinked, "...I'm glad it wasn't me she was down there dueling."
"Heh." Zane chuckled, "Well...she's an Obelisk...so who knows." he shrugged, "Next time...it might just be you she faces next."
"Whatever the case...things should definitely be getting interesting this year."
"Gotta say I agree...I'm almost disappointed I won't be around here another year to watch her grow." Zane chuckled.

"Man! Mia really tore it up!" said Jaden, "I can't believe we missed most of it."
"Yeah...real shame." said Syrus.
"A shame indeed." said Bastion, "With a duel like that...I wouldn't mind facing her myself."
"Tell me about it!" said Jaden, "I never got a chance to duel her either!" Jaden pouted,"Hey- since she's an Obelisk, maybe we can hang out at HER Dorm!" the brunette beamed.
"At the girl's dorm, Jay?" Syrus blinked, "I highly doubt it."
"HaHaHa, whatever the case, we better hurry up and report in!" said Jaden, "Having seen Mia Ace her duel really made me wanna get my game on!"
"Awe, Jay!" Syrus sighed, "Wait up!"
"And so concludes the Starter Duel for the Field Exam!" said Chancellor Shepperd, "Now students, those of you who haven't reported, hurry and do so so that we may Proceed! And Best of Luck to each one of you~!"
"ACHOO!"
"...Oh, and Mia? Go get some rest!"
