Mia took in a long slow and deep breath. The air seemed so fresh...so clean...
She took in slow deep breaths on her balcony...eyes closing as she feels the breeze through her flared locks...
"Look at you...so cute...so pretty~ Just like a princess! Exactly where you belong, next to your king~"
Her eyes shot open with a gasp grasping at her chest trying to calm her pounding heart...which was now beating in overdrive. A panic had taken to her blue eyes and she hurriedly glanced around, as though looking for someeone she...somehow expected to be there?
Even though she knew he wouldn't be...
Calm down...
she thought to herself.
He's not here...
You are here...
Despite everything...you...are you...
*Tap*Tap*Tap*
a light knocking sounded on her door and with curiosity, the brunette rose to her feet to answer it.
"Hey girl, hey~" said Mindy, an ash haired female who hung out with Alexis was now greeting her in an eerily cheery nature that disturbed her...
"Congrats on your big win, girl!" said Jasmine, a ginger haired girl who also followed Alexis around.
"The three of us were just about to go chill out in the Obelisk girl's wading pool." said the blonde female who stood in the middle of the other two, "We were wondering if you wanted to come join us?" she blinked.
"that...actually sounds...kind of amazing~" Mia hummed, "But I... am kinda...dealing with something right now..."
Her heart was still pounding from her earlier panic attack...
Perhaps going would be good for her...
Score her a little higher on the social meter...but...
"Rain check?"
Of course she chickens out...much to Alexis's disappointment.
"Sure thing." Alexis chuckled, despite seeming a little awkward about having her invitation rejected...again...
"Great duel today..." she said, "We should play a game soon."
"Sounds good." Mia smiled, "Have a good soak, girls." she waved them off before politely closing the door with a click and returning into her room...
With a heavy sigh she saunters back towards her living space and throws herself onto the bed with a groan.
Why am I like this!?
She asked herself.
I always do this...I don't want to be like this...
she sighed.
...Not forever...
A small beeping sounded from her PDA and she turned to the night stand to find a visual mail notification.
"Hm?" she blinked, "From Chazz Princeton? Why the hell would he be messaging me?" she wondered, "Probably still sore about the brutal ass kicking I handed him..." she snickered, "Well...let's see what he has to say..." she sighed and hit play.
"Hey Loser, just because you won today doesn't mean you're off the hook. You wanna duel with the big boys? Fine~ Meet me tonight. Before midnight. It's initiation time!"
*Beep*Beep*
The video message ended with that.
"Initiation?" Mia blinked, "Since when? And what for?" she wondered, "For the right to take down jerks like him and Zane Truesdale?" she rolled her blue eyes and heaved a heavy sigh before throwing herself back onto the bed once again, "Figures...he's still mad that I beat him...again." she snickered, "Such a sore loser..." she scoffed.
Still though...
She couldn't help but be curious as to what sort of initiation The Great Chazz Princeton could have in mind...
She closed her heavy blue eyes slowly but as soon as her lids met, she was startled up right by a sudden pounding on the door.
*BANG*BANG*BANG*
"What the hell!?" she blinked, "Who could that be!?"
*BANG*BANG*BANG*
"ALL RIGHT, ALL RIGHT!" she huffed, "I'm COMING, Jeez!"
That couldn't be Chazz, could it?
Is he seriously so petty that he would come drag my ass out of my room himself just to make sure I show up to his stupid little threat-party?
She thought to herself as she unlocked the door only to jump back from having it swung open to be greeted by two familiar Slifer Red males.
"MIA~" they beamed happily as they forced their way in and threw their arms around her taking her to the floor of her carpeted room.
"Congratualtions on beating Chazz today!" said Syrus, with bright eyes and a brighter smile. He seemed so excited, "Though...sorry you didn't get to duel Zane instead...that was what you actually wanted, right?" he chuckled.
"Well...yeah, actually..." she blinked a few times.
Huh...this guy doesn't really miss a detail does he?
Not when it comes to his brother I guess...
"That makes equual!" Jaden beamed, "I beat Chazz earlier today too!" he laughed, " Now You REALLY owe me a duel!"
"What the hell are you two doing here!?" Mia huffed, blushing in a heated flush as she tried to wrestle her way out of their embrace only to be forcefully pulled back up to her feet, heaving for her breath.
"No reason, really~" said Jaden, "But we figured you had to be bored of the rich and fancy so we thought we'd come and stir things up!"
"Wh-What!?" Mia blushed, " I...I don't know why you'd think something like that...I-It's not like I like hanging out with you or anything-Jeez!"
It's not so much that she disliked them in particular either...
They were plenty friendly...and Mia didn't really believe in Rank determining social circles...
Book Smart...Street Smart...As long as you're duel smart you should get by just fine at this school regardless of the color of your uniform...
Still...it's the enery that gives her heart palpitations...
She has a hard time socializing...in general- regardless of rank...
"Awwwe~ So you DO like us!" Jaden beamed.
"Uh, Jay...I don't think that's what she said..."
"Yeah? Well...that's not what she DIDN'T say either, so...I consider that as friendship- Which is exactly why we came to visit you~" said Jaden.
"Excuse me...friends? Us? Really?" she blinked a few times with a confused expression.
"Awww~ Don't be like that!" Jaden laughed as he kicked off his shoes and tossed himself on her bed and began jumping around" We're TOTALLY friends! You know you love hanging out with us!" he laughed, "Wow the beds in the Obelisk Dorms are super bouncy!" he laughed.
"Really!?"Syrus blinked, "I wanna try!" he said as he kicked his shoes off and jumped in as well, both laughing.
"Hey!" Mia huffed, "What the hell do you think you're doing! My bed is not a trampoline! Step off!"
she said as she aimed to tackle them down and missed, only to find herself forcibly bounced around like a popcorn kernal, accompanied by her squeals,
This-
This is why socializing is hard for her-
This is why High energy people are so hard for her to handle...
She was already breathless and internally panicking...and it hasn't even been 5 minutes since they showed up...
"Listen...to me...you dorks!" she spoke out between bounces and squeals, "This...is...the girl's...dorm!" she said between breaths, "No...boys...ALLOWED!"
"Ahhh but you see- we CAN be here if we're guests of yours~" said Jaden.
"But I didn't invite you!" she huffed.
"Of course not-" said Jaden as he took one more lunge off her bed and landed with a thud on the floor, holding out his arms as he caught a screaming Mia who took flight from the combined boyancy of the two boys's bouncing, landing with an audible "OOF" squarely in Jaden's arms.
He placed her back on her feet and she clung to him for dear life trying to catch her breath and maintain her balance.
"We came here to invite you to something~" said Jaden, "A little fun to have together while we celebrate your kick butt win against the biggest jerk on campus" he grinned., "And well...mine too. Because like I said, I also beat him."
"What...you mean like a party or something?" she asked between panting.
"Mmm...more like a Fright Fest." said Syrus.
"Say what?" She blinked, panting softly.
"See...Jaden had this wild idea to roast marshmellows and tell scary stories tonight in the Slifer cafeteria." said Syrus, "We thought maybe you'd like to come and hang out with us!" he asked with sweet tilt of the head and a smile, "Though I told him you probably had way better things to do then hang out with a couple of slackers like us...but he insisted on inviting you anyway."
She heaved a heavy sigh-
"The promise of sweets and scary stories in the creepiest place to be at night?" Mia grinned, "That sounds-" she pauses, "Actually...kind of awesome-"
"HA See!?" Jaden beamed, "I told you she'd be into it!"
"Yeah I guess you did Jaden but...how did you know?"
"Just a hunch." he shrugged, "My hunch tend to be pretty good~"
O-Oh but-" she blushed, as she thought back to the email she had received prior to this little surprise visit.
"But what?" the two asked curiously.
"I..." she gulped, "Sorry boys...but...I'm gonna have to take a rain check."
"Awwww...how come?" asked Syrus, "It would have been way cooler to have you there too..."
"Mm and not because she's a hot girl to score you popularity points, right Sy?" Jaden snickered.
"TOTALLY NOT!" Syrus huffed.
"I'm sorry..." she said with a sheepish smile, "But I'm afraid I have a...prior engagement..."
"Oh..." Syrus sighed, "All right...come on Jay...let's go." he blinked, "Chumley's waiting on us to get back..."
"Yeah, all right." Jaden said with a slight pout, "Worth a shot anyway." he shrugged, "Don't be a stranger, Mia." he said with a wave.
"Yeah..." said Syrus, "You might be in Obelisk, but I hope you don't mind your Slifer firends~"
"I honestly...didn't even know we were friends..." Mia admitted.
"What!?" gasped Syrus, "Of course we're friends!" he said, "At least you and me are~" he winked cheekily, "Forget about Jaden- You and me can just hang out withput him, and talk about Zane-"
"What was that!?" said Jaden as he playfully pulled at his smaller friend's cheeks, "What do you mean 'forget about Jaden'!?" he asked as the blue haired boy laughed while being dragged away.
"Come on Jay~ I was just kidding!"
"Catch you later Mia~" said Jaden as he waved his farewell.
Mia shook her head slowly and chuckled, returning the gesture as she watched them walk away.
Man...what a couple of kooks...
She thought to herself with a small, blushy smile.
...Even if they are...likeable kooks...
She chuckled and slowly closed her door once again.
"...All right Chazz Princeton...You have intrigued my interest." she said softly to herself, "Let's see what you got in store for me!"
