Chapter 16: His Name Is Isaiah
We were all at the club this morning. I told Rias about what Mgelika said to me last night. I didn't tell her about Azazel, but I did tell her about the other fallen angel leader, Kokabiel.
"It's a very concerning thought." Rias said.
"He said that Kokabiel went his own way and betrayed Grigori." I said.
"How does Mgelika know this?" She raised her eyebrows.
"Mgelika was the Red Dragon and has witnessed everything for the past eons." It made the former dragon a lot wiser than I expected.
"Well, it's a brilliant theory, but the only problem is that no one knows where Kokabiel is." She went back to her desk.
"So what can we do in the meantime?" I asked.
"I'll inform the higher-ups, and we might need to keep some eyes out for the search for Kokabiel, but other than that, there is nothing we can do for now."
In front of Rias, a small magic circle appears. She poked at it and spoke to it, "Hello?"
Rias, it's Sona.
The small magic circle functions like a phone. I did not know that they could communicate like that. I thought that they would just show up if there was any news of some sort.
"How can I help you?" Rias inquired.
A stray devil was spotted in the eastern part of town, last seen at an abandoned warehouse near the school. Do you think you can handle it?
"Absolutely, we'll get it taken care of," Rias says, poking the small magic circle until it disappears.
"What's going on?" Asia asked.
"There is a stray that must be dealt with immediately." Rias prepares a magic circle and glances at me. "Do you mind tagging along?"
"I don't mind, but what is a stray devil?" I asked.
"Stray devils are reincarnated devils who have diverted away from their masters for their own selfish desires; without their masters to keep their powers in check, they become a great threat if their powers go beyond their control." Akeno explains.
"We take this case very seriously, and if a devil chooses not to surrender, they usually face immediate death." Koneko added.
"That sounds kind of scary." I commented.
"If you think that is scary, then wait until you get a look at it." Akeno giggles.
"What do you mean by that?" I glanced at her.
"When a stray devil rogues long enough, their appearance starts to change into something a little horrifying." Rias points out.
"This is something that I have to see." I stepped into the circle as everybody else did.
In a snap, we were already at the area where the alleged target was. I remember this place, too; it was the place where Raynare got me cornered a while back. What are the odds of being back here? If it weren't for Kiba and Koneko, this place would have been my grave.
"Shall we proceed?" Rias walks to the warehouse's entrance as everyone, including me, follows behind her.
"Oh yeah, I can smell him from outside," Akeno declared while licking her finger, evoking a shiver in my spine.
For the past month and a half of us being all together, I've learned that Akeno was really into S&M. She has this obsession with seeing her enemies tortured and maimed by her hands. I would be lying if I said that it didn't turn me on, which I will admit shamefully.
I looked at Kiba, who was completely out of it. His mind hasn't really been present for a while, and if I were a betting man, I would know what's going on in his head. I haven't heard him say a single word since I got to the club.
"You okay, man?" To get Kiba's attention, I gently elbowed him in the shoulder.
"What? Yeah, I'm all good." Kiba snapped his head at me and gave me a fake smile. I know he was lying; he wasn't doing well. His mind is completely somewhere else.
"We shouldn't try to fight it inside." Rias then glanced at Asia and ordered, "Asia, you wait in the rear."
"Yes ma'am." Asia acknowledges.
"Me and Akeno will wait outside, so Koneko, Kiba, and Issei will draw the enemy out so we can take care of it." Rias commanded.
"All right, team." I spawned my gauntlet; Koneko put on her fighting gloves, and Kiba was just spacing off again. "KIBA!"
Kiba snapped back into reality and looked at me. "I'm sorry, let's do this."
"You need to focus." I walked to the warehouse's main door and punched it open.
The three of us entered the building and searched for the rogue devil. It was dark and kind of moist, based on the moles that I can see. The walls appeared to be partially collapsed, revealing broken pipes. The place's old machinery rusted, and the glass windows shattered.
"Any visuals?" I asked my comrades.
"Nope, I'm not seeing anything." Koneko lifted up an old piece of metal rebar.
(SENSORY!)
I activated my sensor mode for a clearer field of vision. It is still present because I can smell it, but it appears to have enjoyed playing hide-and-seek immensely.
"I found something." I heard Kiba on the other side of the building; he was standing in front of a large web.
"A giant spider?" I suggested.
"No, but I think it might be a really hideous-looking stray." Koneko said.
"Maybe it's somewhere else, like a basement or in a small room." I looked around for small points of interest.
Then I heard a loud thump coming from behind us. In response, we glanced over and slowly approached the area where the sound originated.
"Stay frosty." As we got closer, I said,
Then the old materials near us started to fly around, and an ugly spider-mutant-looking creature popped up and hissed at us. Koneko leaped at it and swung a hook at its face.
"Remember to get it outside!" I stepped in to help Koneko.
It began to shoot webs at us, hitting Koneko in the shoulder. The webbing that struck Koneko's cloth melted like acid, revealing a portion of her flesh.
Kiba was standing there, not paying attention, which was getting on my nerves, so I yelled, "KIBA!"
"Sorry!" Kiba took out a sword and sliced it at the stray. He managed to cut the spider's abdomen and hissed at him.
Kiba tried to go in for another attack, but he didn't see the metal pipe in front of him and tripped to the floor. The stray came from behind and pounced on him. I shouted, "KIBA!"
Just before it could have sunk its teeth into Kiba, Koneko managed to hold onto one of its legs and drag it away.
"It's time to go!" Koneko uses her rook strength and throws the stray towards me. I took advantage of the opportunity and struck it with my fangs, causing it to climb through the building's roof and emerge outside.
"All right, Rias and Akeno should be able to handle the rest now." I visited Koneko to check on her injuries.
"I'm fine, Issei." Koneko said this as she took a bandage and patched her shoulder up. "Let's meet up with the rest."
We walked out of the warehouse and saw Rias finishing off the stray with her magic.
"Koneko!" Asia went to Koneko and used her healing magic. I followed her.
"Are you okay, Koneko?" I checked in with her.
"Thanks to Asia's healing magic, I'll be good." She smiled at me.
"What is going on with him?" I looked around to see Kiba, and when I saw Rias approach him, she held her hand up and could tell that she was going to smack him.
Before she could smack him, I took her hand to prevent her from doing so and earned a glare from her.
"It's all right, I got this." I put her hand down and then faced Kiba. "You could have been killed, Kiba!"
"I'm sorry, it's not my day today." Kiba expressed it clearly, his head still lowered.
"What's going on?" Rias asked her knight.
"Nothing; I'm just having an off day." He turned his back to us.
"Kiba," I called out to my friend.
"I have something to do." Kiba is still insisting on leaving.
"Kiba, you can tell me what is going on; I'm your friend." I tried to stop him.
"Friend, huh, I appreciate the concern, but this doesn't involve you, Issei." Kiba said that, and I was left feeling a bit offended.
"Kiba, where are you going?" Rias barks at him. "I did not tell you that you could leave."
"Don't go, Kiba." Koneko spoke, but Kiba did not respond.
"Kiba!" I yelled but didn't get any response.
Everyone was looking at Kiba as he was leaving.
"Oh, fuck this." After saying this, I turned to face the departing knight and yelled, "ISAIAH!"
After I said that name, everybody started to look at me with wide eyes. The name made Kiba stop in his tracks. The silence lingers for about a few seconds among us, until Kiba turns his face at me with a surprised look and yells, "How do you know that name?!"
"Your name is Isaiah, and the church took you in along with the rest of your friends when you were an orphan." I believe I may have crossed some boundaries; I didn't bother because I just wanted to help my friend. "You were all under the care of a V. Galilei, who subjected you and your friends to a secret project that involved the wielding of the legendary sword, Excalibur."
Kiba swiped his face away and clenched his fist. My mention of Galilei triggered his anger.
"He subjected you to a horrendous amount of torture and treated you all like lab rats."
"Do you have any idea what that was like, Issei?!" He cried.
"I don't, but I can only imagine the cruelty you all had to endure." I closed my eyes.
"That man needs to suffer just as we all suffered." Tears run down his cheeks.
"When the church discovered him, he shut down the project, disposed of everything to make himself untraceable, and killed all of your friends, but you were the only one who survived."
"Then you must realize what I need to do!" Kiba held his clenched fist to his chest.
"We will, but not like this." I tried to get him to reason with me.
"He needs to pay!"
"We will find him, Kiba, and we will do it together!"
"No, this is something that I need to do by myself!"
"Kiba, if you leave, you will go astray and most likely end up like the spider we killed."
"I am determined to stop Valper Galilei."
"Kiba." I shook my head.
"I'm sorry, but I have a mission and a purpose." Kiba resumed his departure, and all my attempts to reason have failed.
"Will he come back?" Asia held her hands together.
"Yeah, he'll come back." At least I hope so.
So, we came back to my place and found a note from my mom that she would be at work all night. For the past few days, mom has been going back to the office because she will be traveling to Europe for a business trip soon. She's been working hard at home on her computer, going back and forth to the office. She will be in Europe for about a month for a business trip. As an individual who dislikes having an empty house, I intend to request that all guests remain at my residence. It doesn't matter, since everyone is currently residing here, but I do wish this house were a bit more spacious.
I wish that I could be able to help Kiba. He has helped me so much in the past, and I want to be able to assist him. He is my brother, after all. If he persists on this path, he's likely to stray, and I don't want to find myself in a confrontation with my brother. I hope that he will come to his senses soon. Well, at least I hope so.
Me, Rias, and Asia were in my room just chilling, while Akeno and Koneko were downstairs in the kitchen cooking dinner. Thank heavens that I went to grab groceries the other day before mom started going back to the office.
"How long did you know about Kiba, Issei?" Rias looks at me.
"I only knew about it for a couple of days." As I was digging in my bookbag for a certain book, I answered her.
"But how did you know?" I handed the book to Rias.
"That book told me everything I needed to know about Kiba and the Holy Sword Project." I pointed at the book.
"The Holy Sword Project?" Asia and Rias look into the book.
"It was an under-the-table project that even the church doesn't know about." I explained.
"The evidence is really damning." Rias flips through the book's pages, glancing at the images and the fine print of it all.
"What exactly is the project about?" Asia asked me.
"According to the book, this failed research involved test subjects like Kiba to see who was powerful enough to wield the legendary sword, Excalibur."
"I wondered who wrote this book." Rias searches the book for the author's name, but there is none.
"When I got it from the library, it looked out of place, so I looked at it." If there was no name on it, then the writer wanted to remain anonymous. I wonder how it found its way to the library.
"So, this Galilei person." Asia put up her hand.
"Valper Galilei was in charge of the project, and he experimented with orphaned children, such as Kiba, to see who could use Excalibur, killing off those who were unable to do so." I clarified this while perusing through one of the pages.
"That's horrible," Asia commented.
"Rias, how did you find Kiba?" I turned to my girlfriend.
Rias stood up from my bed and walked to my bedroom window. She gazes out from it, watching the stars and the darkness covering the sky, then she lets out a sigh and says, "I found him wandering in a frozen forest, clinging on to his dying life as much as he could, and in his final moments he swore vengeances."
"You reincarnated him," I said.
"I gave him a second chance in life and took him in."
"Poor Kiba." Asia lowers her head in silence.
"He was a bit distrustful at first and kept to himself, but as time went by, he started to open up a little bit." Rias walked away from the window and sat on my desk chair.
"Why were they experimenting with the kids using the holy sword?" Asia asked.
"Also, get this." I said this as I kept reading the book. I pointed out to another page and read it to Rias and Asia: "The two holy swords that King Arthur, the legendary king, wielded were the Excalibur and the Caliburn, created by holy servants using magic and alchemy."
"During the war, the original Excalibur broke, leading to the creation of seven different swords bearing the name Excalibur." Rias added.
"So I wonder where the seven swords are?" I asked myself.
"I wondered why Kiba would just suddenly leave like that." Asia ponders, then it hits me.
"The photo." I remembered the photo that Kiba looked at when Mom came to visit us at the club the other day. She brought my childhood photographs, which Kiba discovered.
"What photo?" Rias looked at me as I was digging in my desk drawer for that certain picture. When I found it, I handed it to Rias.
"Kiba was staring at that photo the other day, and since then, he's started to act differently." I pointed at the photo for Rias.
"This photo?" Rias took a look at it and saw a sword in the background.
"He asked me what that sword was, but I didn't know it at first." I explained.
"It looks like a holy sword." Rias examines.
"Is it one of the Excaliburs?" I asked.
"I can't tell, but it is a holy weapon."
"That sword belonged to a family that my dad knew."
"So that is how it is then; I understand why the predecessor is gone, but still, I thought for sure." Rias spoke to herself.
"Thoughts for what?"
"I'm sorry, look how late it is; let's get going to bed." Rias suddenly dismisses the topic and stands up.
"Wait, what?" As she began to strip off her clothes, I widened my eyes at her. "Um, don't you think that it's a bit early, babe?"
"It's important for us to get a good night's sleep, darling." She giggles.
"I'm taking my clothes off, too!" I looked to see that Asia was getting her clothes off, too.
"Um, Asia?" I flustered.
"I want to sleep with you, too!" Asia rushes.
"I still need to at least get clean first." I examine my dirty clothes.
"Then, I'll help you wash your back." Rias made the suggestion while grabbing a couple of towels.
"Yeah, me, too!" Asia grabs one as well.
"Asia, I told you that I would wash him first!" Rias spat at her bishop.
"Well, it wouldn't hurt to help him clean up as well!" She counters.
"He belongs to me, Asia!"
"And he can belong to me, too!" Oh, this is going to be a long night.
"I'm his woman!" Rias places her hands on her hips.
"I can be his woman, too, Rias!" Asia crosses her arms.
"I'm his girlfriend!"
"I can be his girlfriend, too; you don't have to be so stingy!"
"It doesn't work like that!"
"You did say that polyamory is a common thing, Rias." I think that I shouldn't have said that.
"Yeah, Issei is right!" Asia cluthes my arm.
"Okay, I did say that, but I claimed him first!" Rias grabs my other arm.
"You can be all you want at first, but you are not the only woman who can have him all to yourself!"
"How dare you speak to me in that tone?! I'm your master!"
I wondered if any of my ancestors had relationships like this. I could really use the guidance.
"Issei, you pick!" Asia pokes at me.
"Um, what?" I wasn't paying attention.
"Who do you want to be with tonight?!"
Choosing which girl to sleep with tonight? This sounds intense, but it's getting the pump going.
"Both," I answered, as it was the most fair option there was.
"What?" They looked at me.
"You both can have me tonight." I repeated my answer.
"You want to be with both of us tonight?" Rias ponders.
"Yes."
"But why when you are with me?" Rias pouted.
"Yes! That means I'm his girlfriend, too!" Asia cheers.
"No! I'm his girlfriend."
"You both are my girlfriend!" I yelled because the argument was becoming increasingly annoying.
"What?!" Rias looks at me.
"You girls mean a lot to me, and I can't imagine a life without you, Asia, Akeno, or Koneko. If that means I get to be with all of you, then I'm really happy that I do get to be with all of you." I felt like I had just made a love confession.
"Are you saying that you are going to date all of us?" Rias puts her hands on her hips.
"You know what?"Yes, I will." I told her.
Rias looked at me for a moment with a blank expression, then smiled at me and said, "Well, as long as you are able to handle all of us."
"As the Heavenly Wolf, I am capable of managing any challenge." I smiled back at her.
"Yeah, I'm your girlfriend!" Asia pounces on me and repeatedly pecks my cheek with her lips.
"Easy, Asia." I chuckled.
I guess having more than one girlfriend wouldn't be such a bad idea. As long as I can make them happy, then I'll be okay with all of it.
"I'm still his number one, though!" Even in the most peaceful times, Rias still claims such rivalry.
As for Koneko and Akeno, I still haven't gotten their thoughts, but if they want to have me, then they'll have me as well. I'm not going to push them into something that they don't want. I do love them, and I will fight to make sure that they are safe and happy, too.
I hope Kiba is all right. Wherever he is, I hope that he will be okay. I just hope that he knows that I'm willing to help him if he lets me. We are brothers after all.
After the argument between Rias and Asia, it looks like they tired themselves out. Both of them were by my sides, boxing me in the middle. They were naked, of course, and so was I. The real reason that I'm still up is because they were tossing and turning as their skins were rubbing on mine. Usually the nightmares would keep me up, but now it's the hormones that are keeping me from falling asleep. They would toss and turn as they would grind up to me. It made me feel what any other man would feel. The blood would surge to my groins, and my body would be inundated with pheromones and testosterone as my primal urges became increasingly difficult to suppress.
"Do whatever you want to me, Issei." I heard Asia moaning in her sleep.
I looked at her as she was touching herself in her sleep. It made me blush, but it was also getting me riled up. The thought of me touching her while she was like this didn't feel right. I am aware that she is also my girlfriend, but I do not believe it would be virtuous of me to disturb her sleep while she dreams about me by touching her. I don't want to push Asia, who is sweet and gentle. I do want to know what she is dreaming about.
I also felt Rias moving; her back was towards me. But here is the thing: I saw that she has a wolf crest tattoo on the back of her left shoulder.
"I wonder when she has this for?" I traced her tattoo with my index finger to make her moan.
"Mmm, Issei." I heard her moan in her sleep as well.
I find it amusing, and it makes me happy that they both dreamed about me.
"When a wolf copulates with his mate, he makes a mark on her." I heard Mgelika's voice.
"I didn't bite her, though." I said.
"But you mated her that night, and when you did, she got a mate mark."
"A mate mark, huh." I traced her tattoo.
"The mark symbolizes the bond between the heavenly wof and their mate, and it will also play a role in her powers."
"Really? Will it be dangerous?" I asked.
"No, it'll give her a boost in powers and magic when she uses it."
"Is it temporary?" I continued to examine Rias' mate mark tattoo.
"No, when a wolf chooses a mate and copulates with her, it's for life."
For life? Does that mean that I'm technically married to Rias Gremory? If I have sex with Asia, then she will also be my lifelong mate. How will Rias take this news?
"Issei?" I was thinking that I didn't see that Rias had woken up and was looking at me. "You okay?"
"I gave you a mark." I got straight to the point.
"What?" She tilted her head at me in confusion.
I realized that I said it plainly and didn't try to say it that way. I looked away from her and turned red. "Um, well."
"What do you mean that you gave me a mark?" She raised her eyebrows.
"Um, I kind of gave you, um, a tattoo." I was flustered.
"No, you didn't; how would you do that?" She looked all over her naked body but couldn't see the tattoo because it was on the back of her shoulder.
"When we had sex." I scratched my head.
"No, you didn't; I would know if you gave me a tattoo." She giggles at the thought that I am teasing her.
"But I did."
"Where?" She started to look all over her body again.
"The back of your left shoulder." I pointed it out.
Rias got up from the bed and went to look into a mirror. She turned her back on it and turned her head to look at a wolf crest mark that is purple, blue, and black. Her eyes widened a bit, but she didn't seem to be mad or anything; she was just surprised. Then she looked back at me and asked, "When did you give me this?"
"Um, Mgelika said that when a heavenly wolf mates with his, um, mate, a mark or tattoo is etched on them." I explained.
"Really?" She looks back at the mirror and sees the tattoo again.
"I'm sorry if you don't like it." I apologized.
"No, I love it!" She smiled while still looking at her new tattoo. "I've always wanted a tattoo."
"Mgelika also said that it will boost an increase in your powers and magic." I stated.
"Really, that's why my powers have felt a little bit too much lately." Rias creates a small red aura ball.
"And there are also more." I was starting to get to the mate-for-life part.
"What is it?" Rias puts her magic ball away.
"It's called a mate mark." I flustered even more.
"A mate mark?"
"When a wolf chooses his mate and copulates, it's for life." I stuttered.
"For life," she repeated.
"Look, I know that we just started to become a couple, and that the whole mate-for-life thing may be a little weird for you." She cut me off by putting an index finger on my lips.
"Issei, I'm honored to be your lifemate, and it just makes me even more happy that I can get to be with you for the rest of my life." I feel like this is a marriage proposal.
"I'm so happy to hear that." I smiled and pulled Rias in for a big hug.
"What about me?" I turned to see Asia awake and heard everything.
"Asia, you're awake?" I acknowledge the wake-up presents from my other girlfriend. In this category, will it be a mate or a girlfriend?
"I want a tattoo and I want to be your lifemate." Asia whines.
"All right, Asia, perhaps after school; it's past midnight, so why don't we all just go to bed?" I suggested.
"That's fine with me, my mate." Rias teases Asia, adding fuel to the fire of their love rivalry.
"No fair." Asia huffed.
"I'm just marking my territory." Rias chuckles.
"I think that I can only do that." I said.
I'm in Mgelika's realm, and it's still the same valley where I, Grandpa Juzo, and Raziel were last time. But here is the thing: Rias is here, too. I wondered how she got to this realm.
"Issei?" Rias looks at me.
"Hey, Rias, I didn't expect you to be here either." I waved at my lifemate.
"Where are we?" She looked around at the realm.
"You are in the realm that lies within your mate's Howling Gauntlet." Mgelika makes his presence known.
"Who are you?" She asked the purple timber wolf.
"My name is Mgelika; I am the heavenly wolf, sealed within the artifact." He explained.
"This is Mgelika?" Rias crouched down to meet Mgelika's level.
"It's an honor to meet your presence, Lady Rias."
"It's nice to meet you, too." She gave him a small bow.
"Rias, how did you get here?" I asked.
"I don't know, Issei."
"The mark also allows you to have access to the realm as long as Issei is here," the wolf answered.
"Oh, well, you can come here when I'm here." I smiled.
"Issei!" I looked to see Grandpa Juzo and Raziel waving at me from the other side of the cliff.
"Come on, I want you to meet them." I grabbed Rias' hand.
"Who are they?" She asked.
"Those are my grandpa Juzo and my ancestor Raziel." I was really excited to have Rias here.
"That's your grandpa?" She was getting excited.
"Yes." I love seeing her excited.
"I didn't know that you were able to see them."
"All of my ancestors who wielded the gauntlet in their time are here."
"Issei." Grandpa Juzo greeted me with a hug, and I embraced him back. "So, who is this beautiful woman?"
"Grandpa, this is Rias Gremory, my mate." I introduce Rias to my grandpa.
"You're Sirzechs' little sister?" He inquired.
"Yes, it's nice to meet you." Rias smiled and shook my grandfather's hand.
"Yes, I fought side-by-side with your brother during my time."
"My brother told us stories about you and how you aided us."
"He's quite the warrior."
"So, you must be Issei Hyoudou." I looked at another man.
"Who are you?" I asked the man.
"This is Antonio, another wielder." Raziel introduced.
"You're the one from the High Middle Ages." I said.
"I was a devoted member of the church, serving under Pope Leo IX."
"Nice to meet you, Antonio." I shook his hand.
"Such a family reunion." Rias commented.
After I introduced Rias to my ancestors, we all sat down and had some tea while admiring the natural view. It's like introducing my wife to the family and it makes me very happy that I can get to share these moments with her and also be able to share these moments with the others.
I thought that having a devil as a mate would be a problem, especially for a pure-blooded Gremory descendant, but no, they were really mindful about the whole thing. Antonio was a Catholic man in his time, so I thought that he would pull out a cross and splash some holy water around.
"So where are all the other ancestors that were before me?" I pointed it out. The first person that I met was Raziel, then my grandpa, and now Antonio. I know that there are more of my ancestors that came before me, so I wondered why I haven't met the others yet.
"As you improve in your strength and power as time goes by, you'll be able to meet the others." Mgelika explained.
"Well, I met Antonio, so what did I improve on?" I asked.
"You unlocked a new ability called the howling cannon," Antonio said.
"Howling cannon?" I raised my eyebrows.
"This is a method that I created during my time." Antonio stood up.
"Wait, I can create abilities for the Howling Gauntlet." I looked at my left arm.
"Creating certain abilities requires a lot of patience, humility, and the strength of the mind." Antonio added.
"You must increase your mental, emotional, and physical strength in order to unlock the abilities that you have so far used, which you genetically inherited from previous wielders." Raziel inputted.
"During my time, I created the howling cannon to combat the evil deities that terrorized my village and caught the eye of Pope Leo IX." Antonio sips his tea.
"Can it be dangerous?" Rias grabs my arm.
"Certain past users have died by letting the powers of the heavenly wolf consume them out of desperation." Mgelika explained.
"Desperation?" Rias inquired.
"During the Ptolemaic period in Egypt, a former wielder, Ptahhotep, utilized his unstable powers to protect his family from Greek prosecutors who threatened to execute them for their refusal to convert."
"A young man with a young family." Raziel commented.
"By using all of his powers and inevitably killing himself in the process, he made a sacrifice that saved his family." Mgelika added.
"Oh damn." I remembered something similar to what my grandfather had said.
"We also have news for you both." Mgelika pops out.
"What is it?" I asked.
"A great enemy has awakened—someone who intends to cripple the balance of the natural order for all beings." Raziel explains.
"We, the Howling Gauntlet users, have all fought this man for a very long time." Antonio added.
"Who?"
"His name is Vayne." Raziel pulls up an image using magic.
The image was of a man in a black and red cloak. He has a big scar that goes from his left cheek to his right temple, right along his nose and his right eye, which is blind from the scarring. He also wears a fabric cloth that covers his mouth.
"He seems pissed." I commented.
"Vayne has been our greatest enemy for thousands of years." Raziel said.
"I have fought him on many occasions during my younger years," Grandpa said.
"Where did he come from?" Rias asked.
"There were many stories about how Vayne came to be from being a former angel that went mad at many others." Raziel added.
"He has roamed the earth with the goal of bringing about the end." Mgelika said.
"No one knows what goes on in this man's mind, but it is something that we would not let happen." Antonio said.
Rias and I look at each other, then back at my ancestors.
"Something is coming, and I believe that Vayne is at the center of all of it." As he left, Mgelika spoke.
"Remember what we said here, Issei, because you are the only one who can stop him, hopefully permanently." Raziel said.
"Vayne has harbored resentment towards us for millennia, a resentment that necessitates eradication, as there is no tranquility for him, only agony."
This Vayne dude must be serious. If what was said was true, then how long will it take for him to show himself? I would never have thought that my family's secret was more than just an artifact. What would that mean for Rias and the others? What would that mean for our kids? Will they carry the same burden as my ancestors did? I won't be able to do this alone. I need to find Kiba first and try to get him to come back to us. I have to help him before he can help me. I need to help Kiba find Excalibur and Galilei before I can take care of this Vayne guy. I'm going to need everybody with me.
I apologize for the little delay. I was on my family trip and I just got back. So, my work is taking me on a little business trip and I will be out for several days, but I won't be too long. Chapter 17 will be coming soon.
For those that PM me questions, I will answer.
