Chapter 03: Gosha Under Attack
Taimanin Task Force HQ...
Fuuma narrates his interrogation of Jin.
"(While we held Jin Kazama in question, he was co-operative. He told us everything about the nature of his Devil Gene, the animosity with his forefathers - his grandfather Heihachi, and his father Kazuya.)", the task force captain spoke through his perspective. "(We also discovered why he started World War III was to draw out a demonic entity named Azazel. He partially succeeded in vanquishing Azazel, but that did not end the ongoing conflict. However, after the recent King of Iron Fist Tournament was cancelled with Heihachi's fate being left uncertain... G Corporation began consolidating power over the world. Even though Jin has found shelter with a rebel Tekken Force faction called Yggdrasil, led by Lars Alexandersson, the group also found themselves being targeted by the UN for protecting a war criminal.)"
Fuuma asks Jin after the latter finishes his side of the story, "What are you planning to do now?"
"I have to settle the score with Kazuya. I don't care if it kills me, it's the only way I can take full responsibility for what I've done.", Jin replied, with his suicidal tone even shocked Asagi of all people.
"That's suicide. How can you even beat Kazuya all by yourself?", Asagi spoke. "Not to mention, that he also carries the Devil Gene that you've also inherited from him."
"This power to me was a curse. I want to break it, even if I have to take him with me."
Murasaki then interrupted, "Then, how do you see yourself in Kazuya Mishima? Or even Heihachi Mishima?"
The Undying Taimanin's made a point in and of itself.
Fuuma then narrates after what Murasaki bluntly told Jin. "(The Mishima clan were not the kind of people that are wholeheartedly united to each others' cause. It all started when Heihachi Mishima imprisoned his father underneath the temple in Hon-Maru. Then, he even killed his own wife, who happens to be of the Hachijo clan, a clan of assassins. However, I got word from Kirara that the Hachijos are more than meets the eye - they turn out to be a cult that worships Azazel, who bestowed them the devil's power since ancient times. I can't say Heihachi killing his wife merely because she also worshipped an ancient demon is justified. And it all leads to an endless cycle of abuse, betrayal, and hatred within the Mishima bloodline.)"
"This is more complicated than it looks.", Fuuma deduced.
"What's that supposed to mean, Fuuma?", Murasaki asked.
"Jin-san right now is nothing like the same man who started the war. Look at him.", Fuuma continued. "He knows the consequences of his actions and decided to do something about it. I know what it feels like to take responsibility for my failures. And that's the main difference between him, Kazuya, and Heihachi."
Fuuma can see through the morose side of Jin, as there's more to his enmity towards his own ilk. No one has also ever known what Kazuya had been through before becoming a devil himself. But, everything that both Kazuya and Jin had gone through in their lives can be traced to Heihachi Mishima himself, no less.
"(Kazuya maybe a demon making an impression of a man... But he has an army behind him, and being the president of a powerful company to boot. Jin can't do much anything about it.)", Fuuma spoke to his mind.
"Save your concerns. I have been backed by Lars' team. Even if I have to stop Kazuya myself, I will leave them protecting others.", Jin said.
"Lars Alexandersson. The leader of the Tekken Force rebel faction Yggdrasil?", Asagi clarified, having heard of Lars at one point.
"He's also an illegitimate child of Heihachi.", Jin added, much to Fuuma's shock.
"He's Heihachi's son? Then that means he and Kazuya are..."
Little what the Taimanin Task Force know about Lars is that despite being a bastard son of Heihachi, he's the polar opposite of both Heihachi and Kazuya. Thus, this makes Lars a more heroic and noble Mishima.
"So you're not fighting alone..."
The task force are now satisfied from the information they gathered from Jin. Jin, on the other hand, warns the Taimanins to stay away from the conflict between him and Kazuya.
"If I were you, I suggest you do not stick your noses with the whole conflict against G Corporation.", Jin stood up from the chair and takes his jacket once the interrogation is finished. "This is a matter between me and him. In fact, you Taimanins will be a threat to Kazuya's plans and he won't hesitate to take out anyone standing in his way."
Jin has a hunch that Kazuya will deal anyone standing in his way of world domination, and the Taimanins may find themselves having a target painted on their backs should they cross with G Corporation.
"No, Jin. We Taimanins exist to fight evil. If Kazuya wants to root out anything opposing his tyranny, then so be it. We are ready for him.", Asagi refutes to Jin's foreboding implications about Kazuya.
"Miss Asagi..."
This is to be expected from the legendary Almighty Taimanin, the headmistress of Gosha Academy, and the leader of all Taimanins. Like what Asagi said, the Taimanins exist to protect the world, whether from criminals and malevolent demons alike. Having heard firsthand of the Mishima family infighting, and the threat level Kazuya poses, Asagi knows that this is going to be a long battle ahead to liberate the world under the mercy of a tyrant with the powers of demons and hellfire. Kazuya is in a league of his own compared to Edwin Black, and with Nomad now off the grid, it's not hard to see why.
An explosion can be heard from the outside of the HQ, albeit from a distance. Jin sense that this has got to be Kazuya's men.
"What was that?", Fuuma shook his head upon hearing the explosion.
"It's him.", Jin immediately dashes out of the interrogation room on the way to the building's exit.
Fuuma soon followed Jin into the outside. Only to find transport planes flying around the skies as G Corporation soldiers began parachuting into Gosha.
"Those are...", Fuuma saw the "G" logos in on each soldier's vests, along with multiple JACK-7 robots. Fuuma took out his phone to call Tokiko, "Tokiko, gather everyone outside. G Corporation is attacking!"
Jin assumes his stance as he prepares to take on a wave of G Corp soldiers.
"Get out of here, now!"
"Are you insane?! There's too many of them!", Kotaro insists on guiding Jin out of Gosha. "I'm calling reinforcements!"
"I told you to stay out of this!", Jin argued.
"No! Just because you want to personally deal with Kazuya and end that cycle of hatred, remember that despite everything you've done... That your own life is worth fighting for than just your devil powers! Even if that's a curse, it can still be a blessing in disguise.", Fuuma spat back. "Don't let the mistakes of your past determine your future! We're going to help you, whether you like it or not!"
Fuuma further thought to himself, "(At this point, it's just me and him [Jin] against an army owned by a Mishima. Miss Asagi and the others remained to protect the school. We may be sitting ducks, but all we can do is hold our ground at all costs until backup arrives. Even though I'm only accustomed to giving orders, I can still fight.)"
Fuuma sheds out his school uniform, revealing his Taimanin outfit. He and Jin hold off a first wave of JACKs.
"Let's do this.", Jin nodded his head.
"Right!", Fuuma pulled out his sword.
Jin and Kotaro take on a battalion of G Corp soldiers and JACKs. Along the way, Emily begins to radio Kotaro from his drone.
"Kotaro-kun, those are G Corporation's robotic soldiers called JACKs. Those are the seventh generation models.", Emily's voice spoke through the drone. "They are accustomed to brute force in close quarters, be careful!"
"Got it. We're kind of outnumbered here, any chances we might need backup?", Fuuma continued while managing to decapitate a JACK's head.
"I can't say for certain. Miss Asagi and the others are busy holding off G Corporation forces in Gosha Academy. Hang in there, Kotaro-kun."
The connection ends as Jin and Fuuma fight more JACKs.
"(Normally, if I were under Heihachi's shoes right now facing these hunks of metal, I would be dead by now... But, these Taimanins though... They weren't kidding about fighting to protect the world.)", Jin began speaking his thoughts in the midst of the chaos. After managing to survive the first wave, more JACKs and G Corp paratroopers appear. "Tch... They keep multiplying like roaches!", a dismayed Jin grumbled as he and Fuuma are being circled.
"Don't stop! If we hold back now, it's over!", Fuuma spoke, even though he knew that this is going to get worse, he's probably the last person to give up in the face of difficulties.
"In that case, we'll keep fighting until our last breath!"
Jin was relentless as he plowed through the JACKs and G Corporation infantry with a flurry of punches, kicks, and techniques from his traditional karate. Fuuma even resorted into his own self-taught hand-to-hand fighting style, even though he's far from a well-trained martial artist, Fuuma has impeccable agility due to being a Taimanin himself, and some of his powerful striking techniques includes a double punch.
"If Kazuya wants a fight, then let's take the fight to him!", Fuuma said, as if he's slowly exhausting himself from fighting G Corp's elite infantry.
"So be it.", Jin's devil face marks began manifesting, complete with a red gem on his forehead, which is his devil form's third eye. Apparently, Jin is in his partial devil form, without his horns, his black wings begin to manifest.
"That's...", Fuuma is shocked after seeing Jin partially transformed into his Devil form, only this time Jin manages to control his Devil Gene.
A third wave of enemy forces close in on Jin and Fuuma, Jin now manages to use Mishima-style Karate and Kazama-style Traditional Martial Arts instead of his traditional karate.
Jin was relentless on mauling at the enemy soldiers, but ever since he somehow managed to control his Devil powers without going berserk. This is only because this is an incomplete transformation. Despite this, Jin is able to temporarily re-learn his Mishima-style techniques. He manages to outpace Fuuma being able to clean house an entire JACK squad.
A fourth wave of enemy troops once again arrive, just as Fuuma resigns to his inevitable fate, reinforcements arrive.
Kurenai Shinganji, Fuuma's childhood friend manages to catch up to him. Along with Kurenai were the pair of Rinko Akiyama and Yukikaze Mizuki.
"You really know how to make a scene, Fuuma.". Kurenai snickered before she gazed into an partially-awakened Devil Jin. "This guy... Isn't he..."
"Looks like Kazuya knew that Jin might end up here in Gosha and sent his men to attack.", said Rinko.
"Save the formalities, let's kick some ass!", Yukikaze pulled out her pistols as the other three Taimanins charge on the enemy.
While Jin is busy fighting a JACK-7, he notices Yukikaze, a teenage girl, holding a gun, which somehow made him appalled by the idea of a minor using such weapons, not knowing that they are actually limiters to Yukikaze's powers.
After Jin and the Taimanin Task Force managed to hold off the fourth wave, a fifth wave appears. They managed to surround Jin, Fuuma, Rinko, Kurenai, and Yukikaze.
"Are you kidding me? These guys won't stop!", Yukikaze complained.
Meanwhile, the red "gem" on (Devil) Jin's forehead began charging energy. Knowing that Jin will plan to obliterate the enemies surrounding them with a powerful laser, Fuuma shouts. "Everyone get down!"
The other Taimanins and Fuuma go prone on the ground as Devil Jin fires a concentrated 360 devil beam on the JACKs and G Corp soldiers.
Once the dust settled, all enemies are neutralized. It seems that G Corporation are forced to retreat for now.
"Kotaro-kun, Miss Asagi and the others have secured the school. Everyone is safe.", Emily Simmons manages to contact Kotaro.
"Looks like Kazuya have forced his troops to retreat. They might live to fight another day.", Kotaro replied. "He knows that we Taimanins are a threat to his goals of world domination, but considering the stunt he pulled, we can't let this go unanswered."
The following day, a large flying boat called Víðópnir managed to land into Gosha. It is commandeered by the Rebel Army's captain, Lars Alexandersson.
"So, you're Lars Alexandersson, I presume.", Asagi greeted the captain.
"That's right. I am Lars Alexandersson. I'm the commander of Yggdrasil, a splinter faction of the Tekken Force.", Lars introduced himself to the Taimanins. "You must be Gosha's Headmistress, Asagi Igawa. Or rather, the Almighty Taimanin."
"You must be here for Jin.", Fuuma said, with his eyes on the rebel leader.
"That's right, I assume you managed to hold him under your custody."
"It's a long story. My best friend stumble into him in the forest a few days ago.", Fuuma brought up how Shikanosuke and Hebiko found Jin unconscious in the forest, and was nursed back to health by Rin.
"I see... Jin got separated from us when he was attacked by local gang members in Tokyo Kingdom."
Then Jin walked past Fuuma as he approaches Lars. "Then, I found myself fighting a red-haired woman with pyrokinetic powers."
When Jin brought up a certain woman with pyrokinesis, he's talking about the Queen of Inferno, Astaroth.
"Astaroth... Unlike most of the demons we've fought, she's not evil. She only enjoys fighting stronger opponents. Which explains why she was drawn to your Devil Gene."
"It's not just Astaroth, Fuuma-kun. Every other demons in the demon realm are drawn to the Devil Gene's dreaded power. Some want Jin's devil powers for themselves, and others dread it.", Asagi points out that other demons want the Devil Gene for themselves.
"Uhh, Miss Asagi... What's the part that you mentioned that other demons dread the Devil Gene?", Fuuma asked.
Only for Lars to answer, "It's Kazuya. With Heihachi being taken out of the picture, there's no one left to stand in his way of world domination. Not only humanity will face the fear of subjugation, but the demon realm as well."
It's not just Heihachi, but with Nomad defeated, superpowers such as the UFS and the Chinese Union may find themselves facing the decision to bend the knee to Kazuya Mishima or be wiped out from the face of the Earth.
"Edwin Black was one thing. But, Kazuya Mishima is an entirely different level.", said Asagi. It seems that her greatest fear is now realized, with someone far worse than Edwin Black taking his place as one of the most powerful demons to exist. "We can't ignore this."
Author's Note [SPOILERS for Tekken 8]:
-Kirara Onisaki is the only Taimanin that who has full knowledge of the Hachijo clan, and fully knew of them being a cult that worships Azazel, who gave them the Devil Gene.
-Jin and Fuuma fighting an army of JACK-7s together in addition to G Corp elite infantry is basically a retread of Heihachi and Akuma's fight in T7.
