Chapter 13: Assassins Vs Heroes Vs S-men

Cade analysed his opponent, her stance was as flawless as her body. She was in perfect shape and had the training to utilise the strength and flexibility she had gained. Her smile also told Cade that she would enjoy the beating she hoped to give in. It was clear to Cade that she was a vigilante and had become accustomed to fighting street level thugs and assassins, not men like him. He raised his arms defensively as she swung her staff. The armour on his suit cushioned his bones from the strike, but he still felt a stinging sensation in his arms. Huntress shot a leg towards Cade's knee joint, he jumped back to avoid a breaking blow. But as he landed she rushed him, pushing her arms forward and striking his forehead with the staff. He aimed a punch for her gut and she raised the staff defensively. Then she leant against the staff and swung her legs around, kicking Cade in his side.

'She makes a show, but at the same time,' he continued to analyse her as they fought.

She swung, he blocked, then he countered and she blocked back, countering again and hitting him. He attempted to get her arm in a lock, only for her leg to swing over her shoulder and hit him in the face. She turned, aiming an elbow for his neck. Cade quickly grabbed her arm and attempted a twist. She flipped him over her back, trying to reverse the hold.

'She doesn't waste any move or opportunity,' Cade concluded that this Huntress fought a lot like Batman, but her flashy style hinted at a second and less disciplined teacher.

Huntress backhanded Cade and thrust a knee towards his gut. He countered with his own knee and slammed his forehead into hers. Taken aback by his vicious attack she attempted another attack with her staff. Cade however grabbed the staff and curled his leg around hers. With a push he tripped the woman onto her back. Then he pushed the staff, putting it to her neck and forcing her to push the staff too. He applied just enough pressure to keep her on the defensive, kept his head a safe distance away and pinned her legs with his. If it wasn't a fight the position they were in would've been intimate.

"I am not your enemy," Cade said.

"Well you sure as hell aren't my friend, gentlemen are supposed to buy dinner first," Huntress rolled her head, flicking her hair out of her eyes.

"I'm going to let go now, and I expect you not to attack me," Cade loosened his grip on the staff and backed away from the woman.

She jumped onto her feet and raised her staff. Upon seeing Cade's lack of resistance or fear however she relented, slowly retracting her weapon and placing it on her belt.

"What's your interest in the General?" she asked.

"He's a criminal and he's dealing with this League of Assassins," Cade said.

"I see, you're just a do gooder then," Huntress lowered her head slightly.

"Disappointed?" Cade asked.

"No, its just I thought you had a specific purpose in mind," Huntress said.

"What do you mean?"

"You mean you don't know? The General has gotten his hands on some pretty advanced tech, even more advanced than the Rocket Red suits he used a few years ago, blaster guns that haven't been seen before, even by government agencies," Huntress explained.

"What exactly happened to attract your interest?" Cade asked.

"Oh trust me I want him bought down for the things he's done too, but there's a much bigger picture, its better if you focus on your reason alone."

"Not really, ignoring problems and saying you'll get to them later tends to lead to trouble," Cade said.

Huntress processed Cade's words and found herself surprisingly agreeing with him. It was one of the reasons she used a crossbow, Cade however had a different method. He removed his camera from his belt and cycled through the images he had taken of the slavers and from his own investigation into the general.

"I don't see one corrupt politician that needs to be brought down, I see a network of criminals, simple killing the General and his men wont get us anywhere, help me gather evidence, information, leads and then bring these assassins and their shadows to light," Cade explained.

Huntress looked at Cade's hand and huffed.

"Fine, you've got yourself an ally, at least temporarily, but don't try to give me orders," she said, slapping Cade's hand aside.

"Don't give me a reason to," he retorted.

"You saw me fight, I can take care of myself," Huntress dismissively walked past Cade and removed a grapple gun from her belt.

She fired a line and swung after the limo. Cade formed his first level energy wings; they couldn't be seen by the eyes alone and gave him a limited form of gliding abilities. He pursued Huntress, following her trail after the limo.

'A few days into the super hero game, and already you have your first team up,' Cade thought, inwardly chuckling as he followed the Huntress.

Anatoli Knyazev stood close to his employer, a man whom paid him a considerably better salary than the government did. In contrast to the general, Anatoli was a big man, built like a wall with intimidating features across his face that included a rough moustache and a scar over his eye. Like Smerdyakov Anatoli was a shamed soldier, he however had worked in the shadows. Part of the KGB's assassination branch, Anatoli had been nicknamed KG Beast because of his brutal methods. Unlike most assassins he wasn't the kind of man you sent to slit a throat or poison, his method of killing involved leaving nothing left of the target and the surrounding area. A tank in physical combat and a master in demolitions, Anatoli lived up to his name. The general however knew that he was nothing compared to the people meeting him at the airport. A private hanger had been booked for them, though Smerdyakov knew that the authorities wouldn't find any traces of a booking in records. His partners were referred to as the league of assassins, but their other name, the league of shadows fit them well. Anatoli could see the subtle shift in the shadows of the private hanger, he and his gang of thugs were surrounded.

"Welcome general," a voice spoke from those shadows.

Grins crossed the faces of the Russian men and they muttered compliments to hide their perverted desires. A woman walked out of the shadows, brown haired and beautiful. She wore a black suit with the sleeves rolled up and the zipper on the chest lowered down enough to reveal a tasteful view of her cleavage. Anatoli took a step forward, but stopped as another figure emerged from behind the woman. He was a little shorter than Anatoli and had only a slightly smaller build. The man wore a set of fatigues and an armoured vest. A brown jacket with fur on the hood hid his arms. But the attention of Anatoli and his men was drawn to the mask around the man's face. It was a full-face mask, black around his head but white on the face, with red lenses covering the eyes.

"I told you they would come here ready to fight," the man said, his accent had a unique tone, like a mix between Spanish and Russian.

"Calm yourself Bane," the woman said.

She then focused her eyes on Smerdyakov, as if reading his thoughts. The general knew however that she didn't need telepathy, she could tell just from the firm look in his eyes. It was a look she had too, a look that spoke of an understanding between them. She said she didn't need Bane or her other guards, she could've killed him and his men before they even step a foot into the hanger. He said that he knew and that there was no need for her to fight, he surrendered.

"Miss Tate, I'm afraid you will have to tell your master that we have come across a problem, our shipments have been hit by a vigilante, he wont receive another delivery of slaves," Smerdyakov explained.

"Not slaves, recruits," Bane said.

"I do not mean to offend."

"Your ignorance doesn't offend us general, your arrogance does, you know of our strength and yet you still came here, tell me what do you know about this vigilante?" Tate asked.

"A single man, he used no weapons and he didn't kill, but he was able to create a signal for the Justice League to see," Smerdyakov said.

"Now the League is aware of our operations, you said that they would ignore us," Anatoli snarled.

"So long as you were subtle, something obviously lost on you KG-idiot," Bane said.

Anatoli snarled again and again advanced towards Bane. He stopped however as a blade suddenly touched his throat. The man looked down at a woman considerably shorter than him, holding a Ninjato blade in a reserve style grip against his throat. She was covered head to toe in a green ninja garb, dark hair flowed from the back of her mask, attached to a pendulum styled blade. The woman stood up, continuing to hold the blade against Anatoli's throat as Miranda walked to her side.

"Lady Shiva is the best killer in the business Anatoli, don't cross her and certainly don't cross Bane, Shiva would be merciful and simply kill you, what will you do Bane?" a smirk crossed the woman's face as she turned to Bane.

"I will break him," Bane said.

The thugs and killers were not alone, Cade knew that he was a killer, but he had yet to determine what the young woman next to him was. She was a vigilante sure but what kind was a mystery. Was she a thug who used intimidation? Or just another killer? He could sense that she had a specific reason for being in Russia, for pursuing the general. It wasn't his spiritual abilities, he had lost his senses after all. He was just observant that way.

"Bane, Lady Shiva, I can also spot Ubu and the Hook," Huntress whispered.

Cade nodded, spotting two men to fit that description, one a bald man of mixed Japanese and American heritage wearing a puffy jacket over a black vest and cargo trousers, the second was a man wearing a green sweater and had dark hair, his right hand had been replaced with a massive hook shaped weapon. Removing his camera, Cade began taking snapshots of the meeting criminals. He drew the focus of his lens onto the crates the Russian mobsters took from their trucks.

"There is a way we can make up for my failure though," Smerdyakov said.

"How is that?" Miranda asked.

"You assassins pride yourselves on being the greatest killers this world has ever known, but what damage do you think you could do with the technology the league commands?" Smerdyakov asked as his men opened one of the crates. "Secrecy was once your greatest weapon but in a world of the blog and super hero do gooders its impossible for your activities to remain a secret anymore, for all your skill you are losing the advantage. An Olympic level acrobat and weight lifter are obsolete when compared to a speedster who can outrun a jet, or an alien who can shatter asteroids with a mere punch. Even your masters famed fountain of youth is useless when put against an Amazon with eternal youth granted by the gods…or so most believe," the general smirked as a vehicle began to approach the exchange.

Cade zoomed in on the vehicle, it was a German made car from the forties, back then the equivalent of a fancy sports car. It had obviously been retrofitted with a modern engine and electrics, judging from the sound that emanated from it. Though it had an old shape, its surface looked brand new. Meticulous car had been put into polishing its silver surface. The headlights shined over the assassins like a beast's eyes, drawing their attention away from the driver. He exited the vehicle, keeping the lights on as he walked towards the crates. Smerdyakov's men were having difficulties even getting the crate open. The new arrival however shoved the lid of the crate aside and reached into it, pulling out a hammer of some kind. It reminded Cade too much of Thor's hammer.

"Magic, do you intend to help us with magic general?" Miranda asked.

"Correction Fraulein, it is science, though I understand your confusion, great power has always baffled primitive minds, there is truth to legend you know. Wonder Woman is a walking legend, as is the bath your father takes every year Miss Al Ghul," the new arrival explained.

His accent indicated his German ancestry. Cade took a closer look at the man, blonde haired with blue eyes, the image of the Nazis Arian perfection incarnate. He wore a black coat that vaguely resembled a uniform, with brown leather gloves.

"You are smart, and well informed Mr…" Tate paused to get the man's name.

"Johann, call me Johann," the man took Miranda's hand and kissed it, causing Bane to narrow his eyes.

"What is that?" he asked.

"This Mr Bane is one of the hammers of the Worthy, you've heard of the legend right?"

"Foot soldiers of the Serpent, the creature that Thor gave his life to kill during Ragnarok," Miranda said.

"Yes, many legends have an air of truth to them, let me show you," he raised the hammer over his head.

Huntress and Talia widened their eyes as lightning flashed across the sky. The lightning illuminated the man's uniform, revealing the familiar symbol of a skull with snakes coming out of it.

"Hydra," Cade whispered.

"You see Miranda, our new ally commands the power of the heavens themselves, we wont be intimidated by you anymore," Smerdyakov said.

"The Fraulein and I vere having a conversation Herr general, und her name is Talia," the man smirked as a lightning bolt came down from the sky.

It was thin bolt and like the bullet of a gun it his a target with expert markmanship. General Smerdyakov screamed in agony as the electricity ran through his veins, melted his skin and overloaded his pace maker. Anatoli and the other man backed away from the steaming husk that had been their leader.

"Talia Al Ghul, daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, allow me to extend an invitation to you, to join an organisation that encompasses the multiverse," the man explained.

"Multiverse," Huntress muttered, her attention now solely on the Hydra leader.

Cade was also interested though for different reasons altogether. If something had indeed come through with him into the portal, or if there was something bigger going on then he couldn't stand by and do nothing. He narrowed his eyes at the uniformed man, noticing a line around the area of his ears. His attention was suddenly drawn to Bane as he stepped in front of Talia. Huntress glared, wishing she could silence the defiant man, he was getting in the way of her and Cade finding out the truth. Her hand lingered on the crossbow at her hip. Cade quickly gripped her hand, giving her a sharp look. She noticed he had a strong grip and his commanding stare, the way he ordered without speaking reminded her of one of the most important men in her old life. Cade nodded a thank you as she calmed herself and looked towards the meeting.

"It is not the assassin way to ally ourselves with the strong or be intimidated into alliances, we are the ones with control, we guide and influence when possible," Bane explained.

"Und on the odd occasion increase the weight of your pockets ya?" the man asked, drawing on the league's very name and what it entailed for assassins whom served no country.

"We are not mercenaries," Bane said.

"Am I vrong then? That must be another league of assassins then?"

"As interesting as your offer is," Talia said as she walked around Bane.

Her very touch seemed to calm the man, though he still glared at the Russian's betrayer. Anatoli's hand drifted to his gun. He wanted to kill the German, simply because he could, his betrayal was a second thought.

"It was the assassins who pushed the general to this," one of his men said.

The anger within Anatoli boiled and focused on the league of assassins. Yet something held him back, like a chain for a dog.

"As interesting as your offer is Johann, I am afraid I speak for my father when I say that we want no part of whatever you are planning," Talia explained.

"Might I ask vhy?"

"We are not needlessly violent, we were buying the slaves merely to free them, to give them a better life and a life of purpose."

'Bullshit,' Cade thought, he knew that no matter how much the woman prettied it up the assassins were going to indoctrinate and brainwash the slaves into becoming cold blooded killers and unquestioning servants, they would never have been free with them.

Johann seemed to share that sentiment, huffing and even breaking off into full on laughter. The hammer strangely disappeared, fading into darkness. Johann however turned to the thug that had spoken to Anatoli and nodded his head.

"They drove us to this, they killed the General, you've always hated them," the man spoke as if he was giving commands to a servant.

"I HATE YOU!" Anatoli yelled, drawing his gun and firing at Talia.

Shiva slid in front of her mistress, deflecting the shots with her sword. She then threw a volley of shuriken. Each blade sliced through Anatoli's fingers, causing his gun to drop to the floor and the agony to drive him out of his brainwashed state.

"A good try Honest John," Johann said as the thug removed his coat, revealing a blue and grey uniform underneath it, with a red scarf around his neck. "S-men, kill them all, including the heroes too," the man smirked as he looked up.

Cade suddenly grabbed Huntress by her waist and jumped. A blade of water slashed the spot they had stood on, bringing debris raining down on the assassins. Bane used his own body to shield Talia, the metal and pipes harmlessly bounced off of his coat. He then narrowed his eyes in fury at Johann and the thugs as their holographic disguises faded, revealing soldiers under the command of a truly brilliant leader. Johann rubbed his cheek, the skin aggravated him, made him feel uncomfortable. The S-men followed his simple command, they attacked the assassins without even waiting for his strategy, because they already knew the strategy. A man resembling a giant turtle squashed the heads of two ninjas as their blade sharmlessly bounced off of his shell. Mzee ripped one assassin's body apart, wishing he was the mutant whom destroyed his family. For though the S-men were dedicated to wiping mutants out, they followed the command of Johann and his leader.

"You fools think your pitiful weapons can stop Fei Lian, the human wind," a man with wings and a demonic appearance threw several ninjas across the room with wind blasts.

Much to his shock however Lady Shiva jumped over the torrents of wind he created. She swung her sword towards him, keeping him on the evasive and incapable of concentrating his power. Shiva turned back and for a moment it seemed as if she would retreat, the braid on her mask however knocked into Fei Lian, cutting his neck. The assassin then delivered a series of kicks to his face, knocking him against a nearby crate.

"You're actually having trouble with one of them Living Wind?" another S-man asked, his skin was made of up some kind of pink energy, which he unleashed on the remaining Russian gangsters.

"Of course Dangerous Jinn, don't forget that our enemies are the greatest assassins that ever lived," a brown haired man said as he walked towards the ninjas.

His form suddenly shifted, turning into a yellow eyed, green skinned insect.

"Their blades however are not as sharp as the Insect's," he said, slashing two ninjas with his claws.

A dark haired girl in a green vest and a Cat mask blocked the Insect's claws with her twin Sais. She flipped back, giving the Hook enough room to fire his hook into the Insect's chest, knocking him back. The hook and chain then reeled back into Hook's arm. Ubu drew a pair of three pronged knuckle blades from his coat pockets and ran at a girl who literally had a goat's face. She easily dodged and blocked his strikes, as if she had practiced martial arts for as long as the other assassins had.

"Good to see your abilities work with talents Goat Faced Girl, just imagine what you'll be able to do when you face mutants," Johann said.

"Thank you Herr Schmitt," the girl said.

"Goat faced girl, the Insect, Dangerous Jinn, what is with these names?" Huntress asked as she slipped out of Cade's grip.

He reached for her, but upon landing on the ground Huntress proceeded to kick Cheshire across the face, knocking her mask off. She then drew her staff and bashed the Insect across the face, then ricocheted a boomerang type weapon against Hook's head. Upon seeing that the young woman could handle herself, Cade focused on their leader. He ran and jumped, dodging water blast after water blast from his unknown enemy. His focus was on Johann Schmitt, Hydra leader, former Nazi scientist, super soldier and of course it would be foolish not to call him by his given name. Cade slammed his elbow into Honest John's face and swung his hand at Schmitt's face. Energy blades on the tips of his fingers shredded the man's skin, causing him to retreat back. But it wasn't pain, only a sick pleasure that drove Johann away, gripping the sides of his face. Talia, Bane and Huntress widened their eyes in horror as Johann ripped his face away, hair and all.

"My god," Talia gasped.

"You see Miss Al Ghul, this is not a world of assassins, of warriors or soldiers, not even heroes or gods," the man cackled, his yellow teeth chattering against one another. "It is an age of MONSTERS!" he yelled as his hands left his face and revealed his grotesque red skin. His nose was gone, replaced by a hole and two others that probably accounted for his nostrils, even his jaw was smaller, open to reveal his chewing teeth and muscle fibres.

"Red Skull," Cade snarled, identifying the man as one of the worst villains of his world and the fitting nemesis of its greatest hero Captain America.

"HA!"

"You know it can disturb me how you laugh with a straight face."

"I'm being completely serious Loki."

Loki nodded his head, sceptical of his ally's sincerity, and his sanity. He was the god of mischief, that was the only rationality he needed. The Outsider however was by no means a being of a higher purpose, nor was he a creature of chaos like the Joker despite how similar they looked. In contrast to the Joker, the Outsider's hair was balding and finely styled, his pale white skin showed signs of care and not battle scars gained from years of battle with another, even his purple suit was neat and well kept. To best describe the Outsider's look Loki could only think of human butlers. Which was fitting as for the Outsider, service was his higher calling, serving the will of his master whom at least for now served the will of Onyx.

"As Onyx promised, the means to attract the soldiers your masters will need," Loki said, tapping the crate of dark apples he had delivered.

"Master, Ha, I only have one master," the man said.

"Of course, how silly of me to forget," Loki spoke with a condescending tone as he bowed and turned to the dark portal waiting for him.

"So quick to leave Loki, wanting to get back to the mischief on your world Ha?" Outsider asked.

"Don't get me wrong old boy its not that I don't like these conversations we have, its that…. I don't!"

"Amora, she has really betrayed Onyx?"

"Yes, only because he allowed her to though, now are we finished?" Loki asked, his eyes narrowed into a glare at the man he considered beneath him.

"Of course, its just I received a vision, why is it that the apples she holds are a natural green colour?"

"They're actually metallic green, not a natural colour for a fruit at all, they're her versions of these apples our master has given you. One however wonders what they do that Onyx's apples don't, oh well I suppose we'll find out soon enough," Loki explained.

His voice indicated that he was bored, he had already had his fill of the Outsider's company and wasn't willing to stomach anymore. He walked through the dark portal, sighing in relief as it closed behind him. The Outsider was left alone, in his dusty and cob webbed library, a place that was peaceful to him. He picked up one of the dark apples, admiring its form like fine art. In his eyes art was violence, oppression and death and only the most violent, racist and egotistical men and women could create true art. To him, evil was good, unacceptable behaviour was acceptable behaviour. His world was a mirror to others, a truly violent place. Which was why he put his lot in with Onyx, the very embodiment of evil.

"Lets, HA, see what mischief we can get up to with you," he grinned, this time he was amused.

Cade glared at Red Skull, wanting nothing more than to rip his jaw off. The man may have been a clone of the original or from another dimension, either way Cade knew by instinct that he was every bit as vicious as the man whom Rogers fought during World War 2. His followers, all enhanced humans or possibly hybrids from Wundagore all had bloodthirsty natures. The water creature revealed itself, turning into a woman made of pure water, with white eyes and a red cloth wrapped across her chest and legs. She was beautiful in a way, but clearly deadly as she stretched her arms, forming bodies of water that flew into the mouths of the unmasked assassins, drowning them from within. Red Skull seemed to take pleasure from the woman's method of killing.

"Dancing Water is one of the most powerful of my allies…whatever name you have chosen, you should know that you wont be able to stop what is coming," Red Skull explained.

"What is coming? Why do I get the feeling that you're somehow connected to what Muramasa was doing on our world?" Cade asked.

"Muramasa," Red Skull laughed. "Oh it is so much more bigger than Muramasa, bigger than even me, I could explain to you, to all of you…" he looked from the assassins to Huntress. "But its so much bigger than all of you, I…I finally see," a rare emotion seemed to overcome the Red Skull, amazement, and his grotesque face seemed to have that expression as he looked up, spreading his arms as if god had spoke to him. "Its bigger than all of us, what's coming, what's going to happen to this Earth and many others is far graver than any infiltration the Skrulls would have accomplished, any new world Ra's Al Ghul would enforce, ethnic purge the Nazi's could have thought of, any mischief Loki would've conjured or even any galactic destruction that Galactus would attempt…its so much bigger than you realise," Red Skull smirked.

Dancing Water suddenly threw her arms forward, trying to hit Cade with tendrils of pressurised water. He jumped and flipped backwards, rolling out of the water's reach. He ducked to avoid Dangerous Jinn's blasts; he backhanded the man and then slammed his fist into a ninja's face. Two more ninjas ran towards him, only for Dancing Water to slice through them with her water tendrils. She threw herself at Cade and he rolled to the side, avoiding her crushing weight, she was like a wave after all. Talia removed a taser from her pocket and fired the cable into Dancing Water's back. She yelled in agony before her water form fell to the floor, appearing like a puddle underneath Cade. He narrowly avoided Lady Shiva's sword and blocked several strikes from Ubu. Huntress meanwhile managed to jump on top of Mzee, pulling on his neck with her staff. As the man began to flail and suffocate, Huntress used her grip to direct the turtle hybrid. He hit Fei Lian and sent Insect crashing into a wall. Cheshire and other assassins kept their distance, but not for fear of Mzee, they were clearing the way for Bane. The giant of a man began walking towards the even taller monster. He cracked his neck back and squeezed his hands into fists. Bane swung his arm forward, slamming it straight into Mzee's chest. Any ordinary man, even an Olympic class boxer or weight lifter would've had his bones shattered by punching the giant's shell. Bane however had not only knocked Mzee back, but threw Huntress off balance enough for her to hit the ground. Red Skull seemed genuinely shocked as Bane delivered a second blow to the turtle's shell, knocking the creature back again. Huntress rolled to her left, dodging Mzee crashing against the ground.

"You have skill, but you're holding back," Lady Shiva said as she kicked Cade in the side.

"I won't rise up to taunts assassin," Cade countered, kicking Shiva in the gut.

Despite the blow however she quickly recovered and delivered a chop to the side of Cade's face. She then swept her legs around, tripping him up. Cade watched her braid and threw his legs up, knocking the blade upwards. He then thrust his feet forward, knocking Lady Shiva back.

"It is no taunt, your skill could be greater than mine, if only you were willing to kill me," she said.

Assassins with guns suddenly emerged from Talia's boat and began firing on Huntress. She flipped towards a nearby crate, using it as cover.

"Okay, we may be a little out of our depth here," Huntress muttered.

Cade delivered a kick to Jinn's head and elbowed Fei Lian in the face. He was holding his own, but still had difficulty in facing the superior numbers of the assassins and U-Men. The U-men themselves begun to gang up on Cade as the assassins began retreating from the boat.

"Come and find me when you are ready to fight seriously," Shiva said before kicking Cade in the gut.

He swung around and fired something from his wrist. It latched onto Shiva's braid, seemingly without her knowledge. Cade then jumped upwards, dodging Dancing Water's tendrils. He landed with a kick to Mzee's face. Red Skull suddenly ran towards Cade and slammed his fist into the side that Shiva had injured. Cade let out a yell as his ribs broke. He retreated, watching the assassin's ferry take off. Then he crossed his arms together, insulating his vitals from Jinn's energy blasts.

"Impressive, you're more determined and powerful than I imagined, and your mind is strong too," Red Skull explained.

"What?" Cade widened his eyes slightly.

"Your psychic defences are so advanced that you don't even notice someone attempting to read your thoughts, if I dug deeper it would probably result in my agonising death," the former Nazi explained.

"You're psychic?" Cade asked.

"Indeed, finish him Dancing Vater!"

The elemental leapt towards Cade, ready to crush him if she had to, anything to serve her master. Suddenly, she yelled in agony as her form bubbled. Cade looked at the ground underneath Dancing Water and noticed that the concrete had melted. Then he and everyone else looked up.

"Reinforcements," Huntress smiled.

"Tress, you've got an interesting choice of bad guys," the woman floating over the docks said.

She had blonde hair that framed an attractive face. A white suit covered her body, with red over her neck and midriff, a yellow P had been stamped to her left breast and a red cloak hung off of her neck. She also wore a pair of blue gloves and gold bands.

"Oh you missed the part where they spoke in the third person, it was like eighties era villainy," Huntress said.

"They're not much to look at, especially that guy," Power Girl said, pointing at Cade.

"Not a villain girl, and don't underestimate them," Cade warned her.

"I vould listen to the man fraulein, he seems to have much more experience than you," Red Skull said.

"I very much doubt that," Power Girl smirked.

A moment passed and Cade barely saw Power Girl move. She stopped with her fist inches from Red Skull's face. Honest John's eyes let out a subtle glow, as well as Red Skull's head. Cade focused with his mind, intercepting the psychic wave, actually trying to let the Red Skull touch his mind. The psychic signature was strangely familiar, and it unnerved Cade more.

"Fraulein you have the power to rule over vorlds, you could've saved your's, if only you didn't have weaklings like…Helene Wayne, dragging you down, interesting," Red Skull mused as he looked at Huntress.

"Yes, its because of your father that you're both stuck here, in this world you hate so much," John explained.

Power Girl turned and glared at Huntress, her eyes glowing red.

"Power Girl?" Huntress looked at her ally in confusion.

"She's under mind control get back," Cade said.

Red Skull clicked his fingers and a dark portal appeared behind his S-men.

"If you happen to survive this, be sure to check the red crates," Red Skull said before he departed through the portal.

Cade attempted to fire a tracker at the Skull. Power Girl however caught it between her fingers, squashing it without even applying significant pressure. Huntress didn't even draw a weapon, which told Cade that anything she had in her belt was useless.

"Helena," Power Girl snarled as she floated over Huntress. "Your father said he was going to save the world, but he only got Kal and Diana killed, its HIS FAULT WE'RE STUCK HERE!" Power Girl yelled.

Power Girl landed on the ground, shaking it as her eyes glowed furiously. The ground beneath her melted as she began to approach Huntress.

Next Chapter 14: Kryptonian wrath

Hope everyone enjoyed the chapter. Next time Cade has to push his powers to their limits as he faces an angered Kryptonian. Meanwhile at the crossroads of the two dimensions, Kai-Vell, the son of Mar-Vell is charged with rescuing his half brother, the Young Avengers and a host of other young heroes. His path however is blocked by other Kryptonians with some anger issues of their own.
