Chapter 30: A war across the Multiverse
Earth 0.52
Steve sat in what would amount to the Justice League of America's meeting room. Everyone from the mission was there too, though Waller was sitting at the head of the table. The new hero, Vibe was sitting nervously next to the still blood stained Hawkman. Catwoman and Stargirl were sitting together, the latter confused about what was going on.
"Here they come," Waller said.
The door opened and the 'Kree' group walked through. Steve however noted the presence of a blonde haired, human woman with them. She was walking towards the meeting table alongside Ronan, her face holding only military discipline and coldness. This was the same woman whom had encouraged them to abandon Cade.
"Director Waller, colonel Trevor, allow me to introduce the field commander of Star Force, Carol Danvers," Ronan said.
"Someone needs to learn how to smile," Catwoman whispered.
Carol took a seat alongside Ronan and placed her hands on the table. She slid a disc across it, and it suddenly created a life like image of Cade Hunter. He wasn't wearing his armour, but a simple jacket and a pair of sunglasses.
"This is the man we trapped when we closed the portal, I don't know how long he had been in your world..."
"But our scans concluded he was from our world, a point in the past of our world at least, prior to the start of the spirit realm war," Ronan said, taking over for Carol.
He seemed to be the more diplomatic of the two.
"What's the spirit realm war?" Star Girl asked.
"We cannot say too much about the future, suffice to say that at the least incapacitating Deathblade for now is in our best interests, he committed numerous crimes on our Earth before he came to yours," Ronan explained.
"Cade confessed to quite a few crimes, he didn't pretend he was a hero," Steve said, carrying on even when Waller shot him a look to stop. "He warned us that something was coming to attack our world."
"Colonel Trevor, Hunter may have delivered Ocean Master and the League of Assassins to us, but we are not considering him an ally," Waller said.
"Speak for yourself," Katar said, taking off his helmet and placing it on the table.
"He did fight alongside us," Simon said.
"I sensed enough from his mind to know that he had the best of intentions," J'onn said.
"Oh he did now, but not in the future," Carol said. "We weren't taking Hunter off of the field for what he had done, but the things he will do."
"What did he do?" Waller asked.
"He killed one of our world's greatest heroes," Carol said, standing up, the image on the table reacting to her angered state.
It gradually began to replace Cade Hunter's image with a man as old as him, red haired and smiling.
"His best friend, the man I loved," Carol whispered the last part and set her eyes firmly on Waller. "Sven Reilly!"
Earth 616-The Breach
Aeon knocked an Ultron drone's head off with a kick, sending it flying into Etrigan's fist. Darkhawk slammed into the ground, cutting through two demons with his wings. He fired his grappling hook, pulling a Parademon into Smasher's energy blasts. Hyperion flew into the air, spinning so fast that he sent the enemies around him flying. The White Ranger slashed two Ultron drones across their waists and kicked Psycho pink in the chest. He fired an energy blast from the eyes of his sword, hitting Psycho Blue. May ducked underneath Psycho Black's rod, firing an energy point blank into his chest and knocking him back. She shot two Parademons out of the sky and flew back, avoiding one of Incubus's tendrils. Incubus launched another tendril, only for Ex Nihilo to trap it between two trees. Sunspot and Smasher then flew at Incubus, delivering a flurry of blows to his face. Enchantress commanded her corrupted allies to advance, but the many eyed creatures were gunned down by Ward's agents. Rogue took up the gun of a fallen agent and fired a few bursts, before touching the back of Etrigan's neck. She screamed, her muscles expanding and skin turning yellow. Fire gushed out of her mouth, burning the creatures in front of her.
"FOR CENTURY!" Etrigan and Rogue yelled, jumping towards Enchantress.
The White Ranger kicked Psycho blue, sending him flying into Psycho Yellow. Psycho Pink fired her arrows, only for Aeon to deflect them. Red sparks ran across his armour as he kicked Psycho Red, then launched himself towards Psycho Pink and punched her across the face.
"Dino Thunder, power up!" the White Ranger activated his morpher, switching his form.
He reappeared in a black suit with gold shoulders pads and a pure black helmet with a visor.
"Black Dino Thunder Ranger," he said.
He turned invisible for a moment, suddenly Psycho Pink and Blue were hit from multiple directions. The ranger reappeared, holding a rod in his hand.
"Super Dino mode!" he declared as blades on his feet and arms appeared.
He rushed the two Psycho rangers, delivering a flurry of punches and kicks that marked their armour. Aeon fired an optic blast, as the Ranger launched an energy orbs. Both Psycho rangers sparked, before falling to the ground and exploding. As they exploded, Sunspot and Smasher delivered uppercuts that launched Incubus into the air. Hyperion then fired his eye beams, hitting Incubus and blowing him up against the wall.
"BROTHER!" Enchantress screamed.
"In avenging our brethren we rob you of yours," Etrigan said.
"A cycle this creates, we all cut our noses to spite our face," Rogue said, her voice tone the same as Etrigan's.
Aeon huffed and puffed, his body shaking as he raised his fists. Century's death had given him a burst of energy, but it didn't last long. Enchantress commanded her forces to move forward, only for energy blasts to rain down on them. Aeon and the Ranger looked up at the sky. She landed, glowing gold as she delivered a series of punches to Psycho red's face. With a thrust of her hands she knocked the ranger back, and disintegrated the Ultron drones, Parademons and corrupted soldiers in front of her. The starburst symbol on her red and blue padded costume glowed as she turned to Sven, her blonde hair resting on her shoulders.
"Carol...I mean, Captain Marvel," Aeon nervously scratched his cheek as Carol smiled at him.
"I'm not alone," she said.
Thor suddenly landed amongst the fighters, swinging his axe through the Parademons. War Machine fired multiple missiles into the monsters, and Vision landed right on top of Psycho yellow, imbedding her into the ground. A portal appeared and Manifold stepped out, leading Shang-Chi, Hawkeye and Cannonball. Aeon looked at the reinforcements, and then at Carol.
"Oh...I love you," he said, causing her to smirk.
"You'd better," she said before they turned and ran back into the fight.
Earth 610
Brainiac, collector and destroyer of worlds. The area around his chosen city of New York had become a battleground. Avengers and X-men engaged the robotic forces of Brainiac. The skeletal drones fired their blasters, or shot wires into the skulls of their enemies. Bodies of the national guard littered the floor, before the heroes arrived. Hyperion and the Mighty Avengers were the first. The former members of the Squadron Supreme threw themselves into battle, with the same savagery they had in their old world.
Power Princess cut the drones apart with her axes. Blur ran through them, ripping them apart at super speeds. Doc Spectrum fired blasts from his jewel, blowing the machines out of the sky. Inertia and Amphibian smashed the drones against the ground, tearing into them with their bare hands. With a clap of his hands, Hyperion sent the drones flying back. Then he fired blasts of heat vision from his eyes, melting the machines in front of him.
On the other side of New York, the New Avengers engaged the Brainiac drones. Storm brought down torrents of lightning on the machines. Behind her Quake released waves from her gauntlets, shattering her targets to pieces. Wonder Man crashed into the ground, breaking drones apart as Tigra jumped over him, cutting through the heads of two drones with her claws. Havok fired energy blasts into the sky, destroying several drones before they could land.
In even the most rundown streets, Brainiac drones had spread. Power Man brought his Hulk like arms down on the machines. Iron Fist then slammed his ki charged hands into the other machines. Across from them, Moon Knight was cutting into a drone with a crescent blade, just as Shang Chi put his hand through the chest of another. Turning into his energy form, Ben Grimm bellowed his famous quote 'it's clobbering time' before rampaging through a line of the drones. Yancy street gang members joined their native son in protecting their homes.
"All right people, what do we know?" Aerean asked.
"Brainiac's ship is in orbit over the city, he'll cover it with a barrier, shrink it, then destroy the rest of the planet," Jason explained.
"What is the best way to stop him?" David asked.
"Smash the ship," Mr Fix It said.
"He could have thousands of cities in that ship, blowing it up would be committing genocide," Jason said.
"That may be a call we have to make," Fury said.
"No it isn't, we aren't making that call," Aerean retorted.
"Our world or there's?" Monica asked.
"It might not even be necessary to destroy the ship, I mean it is from another world right?" Tony asked, walking into the room in his Future Foundation armour.
"We can see your gears turning Stark, what have you got in mind?" Fury asked.
"We don't have the fire power to damage the ship without possibly destroying those cities. So what if we send the ship back to where it originally came from, or to someplace else entirely?" Tony grinned as the other heroes looked at him questioningly. "Well if you need me to explain, here's what I had in mind..."
Earth 616-New York
Venom roared, rushing towards the Furies and Granny Goodness. He slammed his fist into Stompa's face, knocking off some of her mask. Mad Harriet slashed him across the back with her claws, leading to him grabbing her arm and throwing her across the block. Brock bit into Stompa's shoulder and threw her back. He jumped, clothes lining two Parademons in midair and landing in front of May.
"Don't be afraid little girl, our problem is with your father, not you," Eddie said.
He shot out multiple tendrils, latching them onto the Parademons around him and slamming them against the ground. Goodness grit her teeth together in fury and threw her hand forward, commanding more Parademons to swarm around Venom. He kicked and punched some aside, grabbing others and ripping off their limbs, or biting off their heads. Venom kicked one Parademon, sending it flying into Goodness, only for her to slap it aside.
"You...are really...PISSING GRANNY OFF!" she snarled, her voice completely masculine as she jumped towards Venom.
She punched Venom across the head, then again in the stomach. Venom bit into her shoulder, only for her to savagely throw him into the wall. Granny grabbed May by her head and bashed her against the floor.
"Granny does so hate using physical force, but if that's all you understand then," Granny removed her metarod from her belt and held it to May's head.
She was about to pull the trigger, when black webbing spread across her eyes. Another black web line pulled May up onto the rooftops, where Harriet and Stompa jumped after her. They came face to face with a man in a green trench coat. Underneath the trench coat he wore a suit, the lower area coloured black, whilst his chest and shoulders were covered by white. The green outline of an Octopus was on his chest, and his face was covered by a mask and a pair of goggles.
"Stay out of our way pitiful human," Goodness said, landing on the roof and aiming her metarod at the man.
"DON'T!" the man yelled.
Metallic tentacles suddenly flew out of the man's back, grabbing Goodness's Metarod and redirecting a blast into Stompa.
"YOU!" another tentacle grabbed Goodness's face and knocked her through the floor.
"DARE!" and another bashed Harriet across the sides.
"LAY A HAND ON HER!" a final one lifted Stompa by her leg and threw on top of Goodness.
"False-gods, trying to take a child from her home, if you want her then you first face the wrath of the Superior DOCTOR OCTOPUS!" the reborn villain yelled proudly, wrapping one of his tentacles around May.
"Octavius, weren't you dead? And fat?" Venom asked, landing in front of Otto.
"Brock, didn't you have cancer? And wasn't your symbiote white?"
"Touché!" Brock huffed, looking up at the Parademons gathering around them. "What's your interest in saving her?"
"Aeon trapped my spirit when I tried to take over Parker's mind. I gained valuable insight, self reflection, but I am Otto Octavius. Just because I have gained an awareness of my failures, does not mean I will go quietly into the night. I had created a failsafe should my attempt to take the body of Spider-man fail," Octavius explained as he crushed heads with his tentacles.
"Please don't be a clone!"
"BAH! Warren's attempts were mediocre, do not forget I psychokinetically control my tentacles," as he said this, Octavius threw off his coat, his tentacles still holding and protecting May as he pulled Parademons down with his webbing. "It is easy to apply those abilities in downloading my consciousness to a perfected clone body. A youthful body in possession of none of the faults my old one had. Combining the perfect physical form with the perfect mind, to create the super..."
"I get it, you're adding superior to your name now, shut up and fight Octavius," Venom braced himself as Goodness and her Furies jumped towards them.
Earth 16
Apocalypse had come for this world. But the Justice League stood ready to defend it. Zeta beam tubes opened throughout the world, releasing the assembled teams of Justice League members. In the chaotic streets of Paris, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Blue Devil, Booster Gold and Captain Marvel flew onto the streets. Dinah released her sonic scream, knocking out a few of the civilians fighting each other. Green Arrow also fired net arrows to bind them. Blue Devil, Captain Marvel and Booster Gold however, engaged the horsemen directly. Recognising that hulk was a bruiser, Billy flew at him, the strength of Hercules embodied in one punch. Blue Devil and Booster fired energy blasts at X-23 and Moonstar. The former New Mutant and Valkyrie drew her sword, charging it with electricity before swooping down towards the League members.
In Moscow, waves of Akkaba soldiers were blasted away from the league members gathered. Captain Atom and the Green Lanterns John Stewart and Hal Jordan. Beast stroked his hairs, intrigued by the small but powerful roster. But it also made sense for them, the Lanterns were protected and Captain Atom was essentially immune to disease. The roster to fight them had been expertly chosen, the tactic flawless. Suddenly, Hank swung his head back, avoiding the punch thrown by a growing super hero. A hero who like his name sake, had been an Atom, before reforming at full size as the blue and red clad hero.
"Interesting they would send you," Beast mused.
"Disease is all just bacteria, which is no problem for me," Atom grinned, before tapping his size changing belt.
"Fascinating," Hank hummed.
On his Earth, he hadn't stopped at gaining blue fur. His eyes were like an eagle's, following the path of the shrunken Atom. He swung his fist, narrowly missing Ray, who landed on the floor. He landed in a roll, coming to his feet before growing to full size, then jumping and shrinking again.
"Most would dismiss you as the weakest member, but it is typically forgotten isn't it, that your strength is not reduced when you shrink. This makes you very much like another underestimated hero on my Earth," Hank explained.
Adamantium claws suddenly burst out of his wrists, horrifying Atom as he further shrunk, avoiding Beast's swipes.
"Impressed? I got them from a friend of mine, his healing factor was problematic, but with a little persistence I was able to cut them out of his hands," Hank swung and slashed at the diminutive hero, who ran along Beast's fur, dodging micro particles that were the numerous diseases he had on his fur alone.
Though Metropolis was not receiving the help of its hero, it was not abandoned. Fire and Ice, Godiva, Rocket, Plastic Man and Icon were fighting the Horseman. Rocket and Icon flew around, dodging blasts fired by Sunfire. Plastic Man stretched his arms, pulling people away from the range of Storm and the other elementals battles. Fire threw attacks at Storm, who had produced an atmosphere around herself. This mist like aura snuffed out the flames Fire summoned. Ice fired a blast from her hand, only for Storm to increase her outer temperature, melting the ice blast before it could hit her.
"We need to get people away from the streets," Rocket said.
"Zatara called these people horsemen of famine, which suggests they could have energy draining capabilities," Icon explained.
"You heard him people, keep your distance from your opponents," Rocket deflected a blast fired by Sunfire, and countered, releasing an energy wave of her own.
Sunfire dodged it, however he was quickly punched by Icon and sent flying onto the streets below. Walking out of the crater, Shiro clicked his broken neck into place, before firing a blast of fire that forced Icon to shield Rocket. Much to her shock, Rocket heard the flames actually cause her former mentor pain. She fired a blast over his shoulder, hitting Sunfire's hand. He shook his hand, taking it as more of an annoyance.
"Hopefully the main attack force is doing a better job," Rocket muttered.
The hall of justice itself was in the shadow of the Akkaba ship. Inside it, Apocalypse looked down at the assembled heroes. Wonder Woman, Superman, the Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman were preparing to fight. Flash was running across the city, and Batman was in a plane watching the ship. Apocalypse tapped his finger against his arm rest once, and that was all the signal his horsemen needed. They came out of the ship and flew down towards the league. Wolverine jumped off of his mechanical horse and clashed his claws with Wonder Woman's bracelets. Archangel launched bladed feathers at J'onn and Aquaman, who both flew and jumped respectively to dodge them. Sentry and Superman floated in front of one another, exchanging glares before they clashed, the ground itself shaking from their blows.
DCAU-The Future
Batman and the Justice League Beyond had sprung into the fight, just as fierce forces invaded their world. Ultron machines had spread across the world. They had made roots in Manila, Sydney, Metropolis, Kahndaq and Tokyo. The world's finest, Batman and the legend himself, Superman took to Washington, doing what they could. Aquagirl and War Hawk went to Sydney, Green Lantern and Micron to Tokyo and the Flash and Captain Marvel went to Kahndaq.
"SHAZAM!" the champion of the wizard yelled.
The lightning struck Captain Marvel, and in an instant he turned into Kahndaq's protector, Black Adam. Danica Williams, the Flash of this time ran through the streets of the magical city. She broke the drones apart within minutes, whilst Black Adam crushed them in midair. He fired blasts of lightning from his hands, bringing more approaching drones to the ground. More appeared however, grabbing him by his legs and neck, piling on top of him.
"SHAZAM!" he yelled.
In a bright spark of lightning, the drones were disintegrated and Mary Marvel emerged, running alongside Danica and crashing into the drones as they came down.
From Syndney, Aquagirl emerged from the water and Warhawk took to the skies. Rex Stewart, son of John Stewart and Shayera Hol, brought his Nth metal maces down on top of the drones. His wings themselves were weapons, slicing apart any drone that tried to attack him. Marina raised funnels of water up from the sea, using them at a pressure that cut through metal. Rex landed beside her, shielding her with his wings from energy blasts fired by the drones. She threw lances of water that split the shooters in half.
"Where are they coming from?" she asked.
"Some came from orbit, but there seems to be these dark parodies of boom tubes up in the sky," Warhawk explained.
In Tokyo, Micron walked through the streets in his giant form. He swatted aside Ultron drones, whilst Green formed a multitude on constructs. Hands that crushed, barriers to protect the civilians, slides that brought falling people to safety. Micron shrunk, passing from one drone to another, shot circuiting them from inside. He landed in a giant form again, clapping three drones between his hands.
"They're not like Red Tornado, they have no souls," Lantern said.
He fired a blast from his ring, cutting through four drones in midair.
The capital of America was put into chaos. Only Superman's assistance kept the peace. He was flying over military tanks and alongside planes, cutting through drones with his heat vision. On the street levels, a man in a purple coat led people into some of the buildings.
"This place has the integrity to survive strikes from those drones, keep yourselves safe," he said.
Suddenly, a group of Ultron drones landed in front of the group. The man in the purple coat flickered for a moment, before he suddenly changed. He turned into a robot, former combat and infiltration model, Zeta. Smashing through one drones chest, he activated his laser cannon and fired at the other one. This act of heroism didn't go unnoticed by Superman who smiled, as heroes would be revealed in this crisis across the Multiverse.
616-The Breach
Simmons and Fitz stood alongside Daisy's stretcher as she was carried into the medical centre. The Night Nurses were there, already treating the other injured agents. Speed and Whizzer carried medical equipment into the tent, then quickly darted back in with injured. Across from the tent, Manifold create portals to evacuate the townspeople. Another portal formed beside his, revealing Magik, wearing a black crop top which exposed her cleavage and midriff, white borders were on her top, as well as the black trousers and boots she wore. She wore a pad with spikes on her shoulder, the armour completely covering her hand, and a spiked headdress.
"Did you bring them?" Manifold asked.
"Oh I brought them," Illyana smirked, lifting her larger and improved soul blade onto her shoulder.
Behind her she revealed Doctor Voo Doo, dressed in his black suit with the V pattern on his chest, his purple cloak and carrying a staff. Coming out of the portal after him was Nico Minoru, carrying her witch breaker staff and wearing a purple top underneath her black dress, her purple and black stockings and a pair of boots with multiple straps on it. Then there was Druid, wearing his grey coat and hood. After him came the Scarlet Witch, wearing a new costume, black trousers, black gloves, a black and red top and cloak and her red headdress.
"You all know what you need to do," a voice spoke behind them.
Dr Strange floated behind them, wearing his blue outfit and his cloak of levitation.
"I'll see to the wounded," Steven said, forming an orange symbol with his hands.
"I'll take over for Manifold, straight after you guys give me my opening," Magik said, creating another portal for evacuation.
"My wards aren't the best," Nico said.
"We just need a containment ward Nico, around us and the witch, Druid will help you, Jericho and I will take care of the rest," Wanda explained.
Her hands glowed red as she and Jericho flew over the tents. Purple energy glowed around Nico as she tapped her staff against the ground.
"Just follow my lead Nico," Druid said, gathering blue energy into his hands.
On the battlefield, Etrigan and Thor clashed with Enchantress. She threw tendrils of energy at both warriors. Fire burst out of Etrigan's mouth as Thor raised his hand.
"Even without Mjolnir, I still remain, THE GOD OF THUNDER!" he proclaimed, raining lightning bolts down on his enemies and Enchantress.
She snarled, directing her magic on them both. But a red barrier appeared in front of Thor as Wanda landed in front of him.
"Please Wanda, put an end to his one's dancing," Thor said, grinning as Wanda nodded.
Above the Enchantress, Dr Voo Doo focused his magic, calling forth multiple ghosts. They snatched at Enchantress's legs, pulling her down by the edges of her dress and even the ornament on her head. Enchantress screamed, calling forth more energy. But Nico and Druid formed multiple barriers around the wizards. Wanda threw her hands forward, surrounding Enchantress with a field of chaos magic.
"Your control over your victim is strong, but there is still a high probability that it wanes, a high probability that the one you use as body can fight back," Wanda explained.
"Indeed, especially when the ghosts of this land help her," Jericho added, thrusting his hand towards Enchantress.
Ghosts came up from the ground and crashed into the bound witch.
"Come on already," Magik said, appearing above Enchantress as the ghosts dispersed. "FREE YOURSELF!" she yelled, slashing her with her soul blade.
The Enchantress screamed before her face became still.
"Enchantress," she whispered.
The green energy gathered around her, and when it faded, it revealed a blonde haired woman in jeans and a denim jacket. She fell into Sunspot's arms, drawing a grin from the X-man.
"Hey, I'm Roberto," he said.
"Quit flirting and get her out of here DoCasta," Rogue said, her demonic appearance fading. "Hey Danvers, mind giving me some..."
"Again? I don't think so Rogue," Carol huffed, punching Psycho red across the face.
"You know I kind of miss the whole flying, super strong Rogue!"
"Me too Aeon," Rogue said, dodging an energy blast from an Ultron drone.
Sven blasted the drone in the head and punched through its body. He huffed as the final remnants of the dark forces crumbled under the assault of the heroes. His helmet folded onto his back as he sat down, arms on his knees.
"Damn, can't stop now," he said.
"SVEN!" Wanda yelled.
"I know Wanda, I know, Zack's in trouble, I can sense it," Sven said.
"He went with Billy to find Hulkling's brother," Wanda stated, running towards Sven.
She stopped when she saw Carol helping him up.
"It was a brutal fight, but why are you so tired?" she asked him.
"Carol...I think I'm starting to lose my abilities," he whispered to her.
"How is that possible?"
"I tried to fuse with the Ranger and Etrigan, but I couldn't do it in time, that's why Century died. Something in the spiritual realm, is demanding that I pass my abilities on," Sven explained.
"To who though?" Carol asked.
Virgil sat in his cell, knowing well that Iron Lad's attempt to rescue their allies had failed.
"Nathan, you just don't get it, Forson wants to change, the Young Masters don't," he muttered.
Gritting his teeth together he stood up and slammed his fist into the wall. For a split second red markings spread across his skin, and he recoiled in horror.
"No, it can't be me, why would it be me?" Virgil asked himself, rubbing his fore head and closing his eyes in grief. "I reject my mutation, I reject the darkness, I reject the mantle...it should be you Sieg, it should be you!"
"Um," a voice suddenly echoed through the cell's speakers. "You know, talking to yourself is the first sign of insanity," the voice said.
"What?" Virgil looked up at the ceiling in shock.
"This is god speaking Virgil, I have been very disappoint..."
"Keller, get away from the speakers!"
"Julian, David," Virgil gasped.
The cell door opened, revealing the new X-men. Surge, the resurrected Icarus with his metallic wings, X-23, Wallflower, Wind Dancer, Elixir, Mercury, Dust, Rockslide, Anole, Pixie and Virgil's team mate, Noah, AKA Starburst. With the exception of Dust, they all wore the third gen X-men training uniforms, with the armoured boots and gauntlets. X-23 however also wore a cowl similar to Wolverine.
"A mutual friend said you could use some help," Noah said, offering Virgil his hand to help climb out of the cell.
"Thanks you guys, I'm sorry I left you out before," he said.
"Hey, don't let it get to you!"
"Yeah, god knows we've all kept our distance," Icarus said.
"Speak for yourself Guthrie," Julian huffed, coming into the room, his cybernetic hands floating around him. "I've felt great since I got clear of Muramasa's brainwashing," he said.
"Pixie had to cover our transport, but there might be a Quinn jet I can get working here," Prodigy explained.
"Actually, if you guys wouldn't mind, I have an idea," Virgil said.
The New X-men nodded in full agreement, Pixie chanted her spell and created the portal that took them away from the Avengers compound.
Unknown planet-Far Rim
He sat cross legged in the cave, coated in the blood of those whom had protected their home. Their limbs were spread across the caves, he buried those who had been worthy. They had been weak, but they at least fought until the bitter end, rather than cry or beg for his mercy. The red sun shined through a hole in the cave, day had passed, the creatures of this cave would have come out to bask in the glorious beauty of their planet. To others it was a desert wasteland, but he understood it was their home. They possessed no advanced technology, they were a species of divided hives, the Kree or even Shiar would have dismissed them as 'primitives' but he had felt firsthand the great strength that could be behind supposed primitives. There was a hum above him, and the cave shook, a ship, Spartoi. He huffed, so J-son actually went out of his way to search for him. He rose, J-son was an arrogant flee of a human being, not a Spartoi, a human.
As he bathed and washed the blood off of himself, he remembered the Spartoi. An experiment of the Celestials, moving primitive humans from Earth to Spartax and giving them a head start in evolution and technology. They had forgotten where they had truly come from, and claimed themselves to be better. Star-Lord wasn't part human, he was completely human. He found it sad that not even scientists had made the connection, the great Stark, the great Richards. Still, their intellect had saved their world from him. When the blood was clean he began walking out to meet J-Son's forces, hearing the ruler of Spartax speak.
"Barely a year ago, he brought empires to their knees, the Shiar, the Brood, the Skrull and even the Kree bowed to him. And he wasted this united empire on an assault on that back water world called Earth. How fitting, that the most wanted man in the universe be found on a world such as this," J-Son explained.
He spun, as if in theatre, extending his hand to the cave and presenting his army of tanks and heavy mechs their opponent. The light shone over his tanned and muscular body, he was a giant, standing at six foot eight. His dark, wild hair hung on his shoulders, with a few bangs over his blue eyes. A simple pair of trousers covered his legs.
"I present to you, Karabai, the warlord whom thought the test of power would be taking Earth. Karabai, the liar whom claimed to be from a fallen galaxy. But I the great J-son of Spartax have discovered the truth," the man continued to rant.
"Is that so?" Karabai asked.
"I have, you are not from a fallen galaxy, you are from another universe Kal-El of Krypton," J-son grinned.
Karabai remained silent as J-son removed something from his pouch.
"You should not have scurried onto a world orbiting a red sun fool, and I have your weakness, Kryptonite," he held up the glowing green rock in pride.
His soldiers gasped and J-son turned, Karabai was right in front of him. He looked down at J-son and the Kryptonite. Karabai wrapped his fingers around J-Son's, and squeezed. His bone shattered, and the pieces of the Kryptonite fell as dust onto the floor. J-son bellowed, clutching his crushed hand and recoiling away from Karabai.
"You have been miss informed J-Son. As you see, red sun, yellow sun, it matters not what colour the sun is, I still absorb the energy from it. The sun could be blotted out and I would still have the strength to crush you. My world's gravity, was significantly harsher than yours," Karabai explained, floating over J-Son and his troops.
"Please, stop, I was tricked, someone, someone claiming to be you, took command of your forces and began raiding Spartax territory. Our agreement for you to leave Spartax and for us to not oppose you, it had been broken, it had been broken," J'Son explained.
"I do not fault you for being fooled once, after all so long a time has passed that it is natural for you to believe you are above humanity," Karabai said.
"What?" J-son widened his eyes in confusion.
"To be fooled twice is understandable as well, shame on me for leaving a power vacuum. But to be fooled a third time," a grin spread across Karabai's face as dark rings formed around his eyes, whilst the eyes themselves began to glow crimson red.
J-son screamed as he got off of the floor, turning to run away. The other Spartax soldier panicked too, having once believed they would be facing a powerless opponent. Now they were consumed by the fearful realisation that they were facing one of the most powerful beings in the cosmos, equal to Thanos and the great devourer himself. Karabai, the true Karabai, released the power of his eye beams, burning everything around him. He landed amongst the ashes, stepping on what was left of J-son of Spartax.
'He would never attempted such a daring attack, unless he had reassurances, an ally,' he thought, crushing the bones.
Looking up, Karabai saw another more familiar ship to him. It came down and the boarding ramp opened, a human man with white hair and a beard stepped out, his hands behind his back as he walked.
"Lord Karabai, forgive me for informing you so late, your forces were taken by an imposter," the man said.
"Tell me more on the way professor, its time I rejoined the galaxy," Karabai said as he walked with his servant onto the ship.
Through the portal that had been closed, Star Force had abandoned a world that stood on the brink. It needed something to tip the scales, otherwise, Eternia would have fallen. Kalibak stood holding the blade of a great hero and grinning.
"In mere days, I have conquered your world," he said, addressing the prisoner being held by his Parademons.
"We are not conquered yet," the young man said.
"Forgo this pathetic resistance Prince Adam, I now hold the sword of power, Gray Skull is mine," Kalibak said. "Finally, I will claim the glory that rightfully belongs to a son of Darkseid."
Suddenly, scythe blades behead the Parademons holding Prince Adam. A third one knocked the sword out of Kalibak's hand, forcing him to jumped back as an energy wave flew towards him. Adam looked up as an armoured figure landed in front of him.
"Well this is certainly a weird world, but hardly not worth abandoning, don't worry, I've got you," Cade assured the Eternian prince, raising his scythe and pointing it at Kalibak.
