CHAPTER 4

THE BOGOTA OP

The next day Dianna woke up, took a shower, brushed her teeth, and changed clothes, wearing something similar to the day before, but she was ready to put on a shirt in the afternoon, when she hoped the guys would bring her someone alive to interrogate. The guys slept in until later, because she didn't see any of them outside the room, and it was perfectly understandable. They would actually be the ones risking their lives later on, and could sleep as much they wanted. When it was a bit past 1100 hours, she decided to have an earlier lunch, because she didn't eat anything yet, and she wanted to work while the others were outside having lunch. So, since it was a beautiful day but not as hot as the day before, she brought the sandwich she got in a bakery nearby to the roof top to eat, and sat on a gym bench someone installed there, in the shadow. Probably the Armed Forces used that building a lot.

"Hey" Jason came by, in shorts, sneakers and a t-shirt, casually greeting her. "Brunch?" he passed by her, going to some other gym equipment to work out his shoulders and back. Of course.

"Lunch. Do you want to use this one?" she pointed at the bench she was on. It was a leg equipment.

"No, not right now, I'm good".

She silently ate while he silently worked out, with her facing the city landscape. He was out of her sight, which was good. She probably would be staring at him working out, if not. And she didn't want to bother his work out, so she didn't start any conversation.

"Ready for your first interrogation?" he suddenly asked, sitting in between his exercises.

"I think so. We'll find out later. Ready to capture or kill some guys?"

Jason stayed silent for a few seconds. "Yes. But hoping to never have to kill anyone".

She was trying to find something deep to say, but she didn't feel like it. So she just turned to look at him, and had a sad smile on her face. Understanding. "Tough job", she finally said.

He chuckled a bit. "Every job has its pros and cons, right?"

She looked at him again, he was taking off his t-shirt and she pretended to not notice. "Yeah", she nodded, because he repeated what she said at the plane. "My con is just a flat butt, though".

He laughed at it, showing his perfect teeth, but she didn't look properly, because she was trying to avoid looking at his naked torso. She finished her sandwich moments earlier, but she was lingering there to pretend she wasn't a bit fazed by the vision of his chest. So after a few moments, she finally said she'd go back downstairs and they said goodbye.

The guys came out of their bedroom wearing jeans and t-shirts, since the op would take place in a urban area. Then they talked quickly about the op once more, now with the added information that a couple of agents would be on a lookout for concealed weapons on the guests, in case they didn't see any weapon at sight. As they finished talking in the room filled with some closets, they geared up, putting vests filled with guns, bullets, real grenades, flash grenades, pocket knives and other battle apparatus to kill someone, blow doors, restrain a terrorist, or all combined. Then they got their firearms and helmets, and Dianna was looking at them doing that. It was very impressive, even for her, that worked in police stations before. Then they just all started to walk to the exit door, next to where she was, and nobody said anything to them anymore. She didn't understand if it was bad luck to wish them to stay safe, or maybe it'd jinx it, but she couldn't just say goodbye to them. So when the team passed by her, in all their glory, she had to say it. "Be safe, guys", and apparently it wouldn't jinx it, because they all smiled and nodded at her.

Dianna made her way to the op room, where she was ready to talk to Davis and mention that Jason authorized her to be there, but as soon as she walked in and closed the door, Davis called her to accompany the op with her and Blackburn.

She stood near them but trying to not be in anybody's way or ask any questions. Blackburn said in the comms that they were good for Charlie Mike, because all HVTs were in the building, then after some thought Dianna understood that they would Continue Mission, because all High Value Targets have arrived. She was actually proud of herself.

She watched the drone images, from the top, when the helo hovered above the roof of the building. Dianna tried to memorize any important details of the surroundings.

"Havoc, this is One" she heard Jason's voice as soon as they were there. "Passing Cosmo", and Blackburn checked 'Cosmo' on a white board, where it read 'arrived at location – rooftop', and said "Copy One, passing Cosmo". Then she heard Ray, "Havoc, this is Two. Passing Daiquiri", and Blackburn checked Daiquiri on the board, it read 'arrived at location – ground floor'. Dianna smiled from that, they were using alcoholic drinks as actions passwords.

Dianna was standing right next to the big screen, and saw something in the corner of the drone image. She looked at it and it disappeared, then she saw it again, and without thinking, she said "What's that?", pointing at the screen, and Davis immediately looked at it. It seemed like there was someone leaning on a window of the building in front of the target, in a higher floor than the rooftop, with their body a bit out, holding some sort of radio. Dianna saw it because the person was wearing long white sleeves and a bright red cap of some sort. Davis face turned white instantly, and she grabbed the radio from Blackburn.

"All Bravo Stations, this is Havoc. Please hold. Possible compromise". The rooftop team had all left the helo already, and the team on the ground was inside a covered area of the building too, apparently almost bursting through the door.

After a few seconds, Jason answered, in a monotone voice. "Havoc, this is One. Holding", and Ray said the same, "Havoc this is Two. Holding". Davis and Blackburn talked urgently, and Davis was practically threatening to kick the asses of all of the tech guys working there if they didn't come up with some good intel. Finally, a CIA agent said in the separate comms, probably it was one of the lookout guys, "Havoc, it was a kid with a toy radio, intel confirmed. Good to proceed", and Dianna breathed, relieved. Jefferson, who was watching the op from one of the corners, laughed sarcastically at Dianna. She hadn't seen him there, but she had no idea what he was laughing about.

Davis finally told Bravo they were good to go and proceed to target, and then there were many noises of doors being forcefully opened at the exact same time, and Dianna could only hear quiet breaths from the guys and a couple of shots, and the drinks were telling Blackburn that they were completing the stages. Suddenly, apparently the group finally got together and forcefully entered the room where the meeting was being held, and shots were heard. Dianna unconsciously put her hand on her heart and crossed her other arm on her waist. It was awful just hearing stuff and having no idea what was going on.

Suddenly, she heard Jason again. "Havoc, this is One. Passing Beer. Jackpot. I repeat, jackpot". Dianna quickly glanced at the board. Beer, apparently their favorite drink, meant that they were able to capture the leader alive. Everyone celebrated. Under that password, she saw they wrote 'Cuba Libre', which was left unchecked. It meant they killed all the HVTs, which was good, because the terrorists were killed, but it also meant that Dianna would have nothing to do, because there would be no one to interrogate. Haha. Davis came by her side and saw her reading the board, and just smirked and raised an eyebrow at her.

Dianna almost ran to her bedroom to put a clean shirt to interrogate, or at least accompany Jefferson during the interrogation. She closed all the buttons of her shirt and styled her hair in a bun, as a sign of respect for their religion, in case the HVTs captured were more on the religious side. She only knew they got a few of them alive. And she didn't want to look Muslim, she just wanted to look like she respected the religion, which she did, so she took off any trace of lipstick from her face, using a simple clear moisturizer on her lips. She put a few rings on her fingers too, so they wouldn't know if she was single or married.

The team arrived, carrying three terrorists, and shoved them to the arms of agents that shoved them inside the interrogation rooms, all separated. The idea in this case, was to interrogate each one separately and then go back with intel gathered of the three of them and interrogate again one by one.

After the guys delivered the terrorists, they passed by Dianna and barely saw her. Jason blinked his eyes, apparently not recognizing her, Ray nodded, surprised, and Sonny smiled. "Thank you" she said to Sonny, and he yelled "No worries, anytime".

Jefferson wasn't her boss but he outranked her, obviously, because she had no rank, at all, so he picked how to proceed at that time. He chose one HVT for him and one for Dianna, and then he'd interrogate the third. Then they'd come back together with the information and squeeze them together.

She took her general file, with her notes, and the file of her captured guy and looked at it. Then, she stood outside the glass window that separated her and the terrorist, with a mirror from inside the room. He was supposed to be a no one inside the group, but Dianna knew very well that the no ones usually knew a lot. People didn't fear them, or considered them a risk against themselves, so usually these kinds wandered among the groups, hearing a lot of what was said. And since they were no ones, they didn't have much to lose, but everything to gain.

"Good luck" Jason said as he stood behind her, with Ray on his side. They were covered in gunpowder and sweat, still with their heavy vests on. She smiled, appreciating their support. She exhaled before getting into the interrogation room, because it would be the last real smile she'd put on her face for a while.
