April Showers Bring May Flowers-Ch 10
Dave sat down and listened as Reid and Hotch filled them in on what they had been told from JJ, Emily and Penelope and when they were through Dave said, "I'm gonna knock some sense into him" and stood up and started walking across the room but stopped when Reid said, "no don't".
He turned around and said, "no, why no?", Reid said, "Penelope asked us not to say anything to him, believe me we both wanted to but right now we don't want to do anything that's gonna make things harder on her", Dave nodded his head in agreement and said, "okay sooo we can't say anything to him but how about if we helpppppp the situation along a little?", Hotch and Reid looked at each other and then back at Dave.
Reid said, "what's your idea?", Dave grinned and said, "how about we do this?" and the younger agents leaned in and listened as Dave filled them in on his plan and when he was done they nodded their heads in yes in agreement and Hotch said, "but we need to run this by JJ and Em first".
Dave said, "sounds good, run my idea by them and then let me know what's going on, I'm gonna head home and talk to Fran and the girls, fill them in on the stupid stunt Derek pulled and see what they think of my idea", Hotch said, "just as soon as we get word from JJ and Em I'll let you know", Dave said, "Roger that" and turned around and walked out of the round table room.
Reid looked at Hotch and said, "I like the part about Kevin, it would be nice to prove that he's the one doing this to split Derek and Penelope up", Hotch said, "yes it would Reid, yes it would" as he pulled his cell from his pocket to call his wife and run the plan by her and JJ to see what they thought about it.
Penelope was asleep when Hotch called so JJ and Emily could both speak to Hotch and both girls liked the plan, especially the part about Kevin and Emily told Hotch that she was going to check into finding out about that extra key idea and see if Kevin did indeed get a copy of her key made while they were dating.
Hotch and Reid said that it would be better if they could do it because if they used the equipment at the BAU Kevin would find out that they were onto him and either stop his plan before they could catch him or alter it in some way, both girls agreed to check into it while Penelope was asleep.
After their call ended Hotch called Dave and told him that the girls were all in and he told Hotch that he was just getting home and that Derek was there so his plan to tell Fran and the girls what happened was gonna have to wait to which Reid and Hotch both told Dave to stay calm and let whatever Derek said slide for now and after a few deep breaths he agreed to do just that.
As Dave walked through the front door he saw Fran and the girls sitting beside Derek and he kept saying over and over, "it's my fault momma, I really screwed up, it's my fault, she's gone, it's my fault", Dave looked at Derek and felt sorry for him and thought, "their might be hope for you yet son".
He walked on into the room and sat down, Derek looked at him and said, "you probably hate me too don't you?", Dave said, "well I tell ya son you're not exactly my favorite person right now but I can see this is killing you too so I won't say anything", Fran looked at Dave and then back at Derek.
Derek said, "I'm so sorry Dave, I love her with all of my heart, there's just something about Kevin that drives me crazy, I can't stand the thought of him being anywhere around Penelope at all and last night when I went by her place to see if she'd talk to me he was there in her apartment".
Dave and the others sat listening as he told of how he could smell food from the hallway and could hear soft romantic music and how after he got out to his truck he looked one final time and that's when the apartment lights went off, Derek looked at Dave and said, "I want to kill him Dave, I really want to hurt him".
Dave said, "don't worry son he'll get what's owed him, count on that", Fran looked at her son and said, "dinner's ready, why don't you stay and eat with us", Derek smiled weakly and said, "thanks momma", she then stood up and Derek followed her through the house.
Before joining them Dave sent Hotch and Reid a message letting them know that Kevin was definitely at Penelope's apartment and how he thinks Kevin is doing anything he can think of to break up Penelope and Derek, he then put his cell back in his pocket and walked into the dining room to join the rest of the family for dinner.
