April Showers Bring May Flowers-Ch 25
When James was finished he sent the nurse over to the door so that the others could come back into the room, Penelope made her way to Derek's bedside, he reached out his hand and took her hand in his and brought it to her lips and gently kissed it, she said, "oh hotstuff, I was so afraid that I'd lost you".
James said, "now Derek you're throat is going to be sore for a few days so try not to talk alot, I know that you want to talk now so you can but please be careful", he nodded his head and then looked at Penelope and said, "I love you so much and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you".
Fran, Sarah and Desi were standing beside him on the other side of the bed, she said, "you look good baby boy, tired and hurt but good, oh so good to your momma's eyes", Derek grinned and said, "missed you too momma", Sarah said, "baby brother, you can't ever scare me like that again", he said, "deal", Desi then said, "big brother don't make me have to hurt you", he held up his hand and said, "I'll behave, I promise" causing Desi to grin at her brother.
James said, "okay, since you're doing good, I'm going to step out and give you all some time alone", Derek looked at James and said, "thank you, thank you for everything", James said, "you are very welcome, now enjoy spending time with your family", both him and the nurse walked out of the room leaving the family alone.
Dave said, "son, you scared us all to death", JJ said, "you need to rest and get strong again", Emily said, "I agree, we can't have you in this hospital long because we've got to get back home and get the two of you married", Hotch said, "that's right, so you listen to the doctor, nurses, Garcia and your mother".
Derek laughed and said, "I'll be good and then when I get out of of here", he coughed and winced in pain", Penelope said, "handsome, don't talk, don't talk", he held up his finger and said, "I'll be good after I finish what I was saying baby girl, I promise", she sighed and nodded her head yes.
Derek hoarsely said, "like I was saying, "when I get out of here, we'll go home and then I will get ot marry the love of my life, the other part of my heart, my baby girl", she smiled lovingly down at him and said, "you are my life, you always have been and you always will be".
Penelope leaned down and kissed his lips gently and when they pulled apart she said, "you must be starving?", he nodded his head yes and FRan said, "we'll go get you something to eat and we'll be right back", Derek nodded his head yes and mouthed the words, "thank you" and then watched as his family left the room, leaving him alone with his baby girl.
She said, "you really really scared me", he could see how broken she was so he gently scooted over a little and patted the bed, she shook her head no and he patted the bed again, she toed off her shoes and climbed in beside him and said, "ohhhh how I've missed this".

He hugged her and whispered, "me too baby girl, me too", the exhausted couple then laid there wrapped in each others arms until their family came back in about 45 minutes later with food for them both, they then ate and after the family spent a few hours with Derek, they decided that they would head to the hotel for the night.
Penelope had told them that she wasn't leaving Derek and JJ said, "don't worry, we';ll be back in the morning and we'll bring you some clean clothes", Penelope hugged everybody and said her goodnights and then watched as Derek did the same thing and they watched together as their family walked out of the door leaving them alone.
Derek yawned and Penelope said, "get some sleep my love, I'll sleep right here" as she pointed to the recliner behind her, he shook his head no and patted the bed again, she said, :"are you sure?", he nodded his head yes, she sighed and then climbed in the bed with him.
With the cuddled together it didn't take long before they were sleeping peacefully, James opened the door and couldn't help but smile when he saw Derek and Penelope cuddled together and peacefully sleeping so he shut the door and grinned as he made his way back up the corridor.
