Chapter 15: Landing at Point Rain
Counter attack!
With the Clone Army stretched in a desperate attempt to engage General Grievous' star-fleet, Separatist planets that were once thought secure are now rising up against the Republic.
On Geonosis, Separatist leader Poggle the Lesser, safe in his newly ray-shielded factories, creates thousands of terrible new weapons which march off the assembly line against the outnumbered clone army.
The Jedi, resolute in their effort to restore order to the Republic mount a massive invasion to retake Geonosis and shut down Poggle's factories of terror once and for all.
Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and Obi-Wan were looking at the planet Geonosis.
"I cannot believe we're back here again."Obi-Wan sighed.
"It is unfortunate."Ki-Adi-Mundi responded."The resistance from the native Geonosians was stronger than we anticipated."
"The same can be said for their loyalty to Count Dooku and Darth Sidious."Obi-Wan added.
"A fact that is often overlooked."Ki-Adi-Mundi commented.
Anakin, Ahsoka and Nadia walked into the bridge.
Obi-Wan looked at Anakin.
"You're late."Obi-Wan declared.
"Sorry, Master."Anakin apologised."The three of us were busy routing the Seppies near Dorin."
"My squadron alone had 55 kills."Ahsoka admitted.
"Mine, however, took out 72."Nadia sneered.
This caused Nadia to earn a surprise look from Ahsoka.
"Yeah, but mine had 76."Anakin stated with a smirk.
"Show-off."Ahsoka mumbled.
Nadia rolled her eyes and scoffed.
"You said it."Nadia agreed.
"I'm glad you three are enjoying yourselves."Obi-Wan stated.
"It's just a little friendly competition, Master."Anakin remarked."Nothing to worry about."
"What I worry about is the way this war seems to be drawing out with no end in sight."Obi-Wan admitted.
"Which is why it is crucial our invasion of Geonosis meets with success."Ki-Adi-Mundi informed.
"Agreed."Anakin replied."Ahsoka, Nadia, contact the Outer Rim command, we're ready for our briefing."
"Not a problem."Nadia assured with a smirk."They're already waiting for us."
A Moment After...
Ki-Adi-Mundi, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka and Nadia contacted Chancellor Palpatine, Master Yoda and Mace Windu. Master Luminara was also attending since she and her Padawan were gonna be involved, but under Anakin's command since her own is still on suspension.
"Our ships are in position and we are ready to begin our campaign against the Geonosians."Obi-Wan reported.
"And what about Poggle?"Mace Windu asked."Any report on his location?"
"It seems he's holed up at the primary droid foundry here."Obi-Wan exclaimed before showing a map of Geonosis."The factory is protected by a shield generator. Anakin, Ki-Adi, and I shall attempt a three-pronged attack through their defence lines to a staging area just short of the shield. Once we have landed, we shall knock out the shield generator. That is our primary target."
"Isn't it risky committing three Generals and two Commanders to one area of the attack?"Chancellor Palpatine asked."If something went wrong, we could be dealt a serious blow."
"To ensure that rise again Geonosis does not, capture Poggle we must."Master Yoda insisted.
"Of course."Chancellor Palpatine replied."As always, I shall leave the strategy to you, Master Jedi."
"Our thanks, Chancellor."Obi-Wan remarked.
"May the Force be with you."Mace Windu declared.
Then the holograms of Chancellor Palpatine, Master Yoda, and Mace Windu went off.
Commander Cody, Captain Rex and Jet met up with Ki-Adi-Mundi, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka and Nadia.
"Good, Cody."Obi-Wan agreed."These are the coordinates for the rendezvous."
"Yes, sir."Commander Cody responded."When we hit the ground, we'll create a perimeter. Getting past their defences here will be the trick, General Mundi will come across the defensive lines from the north, we will make our assault through the middle with Commander Aomori. General Skywalker and Commader Tano will make their attack on the defensive lines from the south and we will meet at the rendezvous point at 0700 exactly."
"If we meet with strong resistance and are forced down away from the landing zone, hold out until we join our forces before attacking the shield generator."Ki-Adi-Mundi commented.
"Their front lines are heavily fortified."Ahsoka stated."Look at that giant wall with all the gun emplacements."
"That won't be easy to get past."Nadia said in realization.
"Don't worry, Snips and Kitty."Anakin assured with a smile."We're not going anywhere near that."
"Come now."Obi-Wan replied smugly."What happened to all the enthusiasm I saw earlier?"
"Don't worry about us."Anakin answered."You and Dia just make sure you both get yourselves to that landing zone in one piece."
"I shall be waiting for you when you finally arrive."Obi-Wan admitted.
"Gentlemen, if you are quite finished, we have a battle to begin."Master Luminara reminded.
"Quite right."Obi-Wan answered.
Then the hologram of Master Luminara went off.
Then Obi-Wan and Nadia began walking away.
"Cody, prep the gunships."Obi-Wan ordered."We'll meet you in the hangar."
Afterwards in the Hangar...
Nadia and Obi-Wan were heading to their gunship with Commander Cody.
"No, sir, I wasn't involved in the first assault on Geonosis."Commander Cody admitted.
"You didn't miss much."Obi-Wan declared."Last time, I was chained to a pole and attacked by several humongous monsters."
"That sounds creepy."Nadia retorted.
The raven haired girl and her Master went on their gunship.
"It wasn't for the Geonosians."Obi-Wan stated.
The doors of the gunship then closed.
Then the Republic gunships handed straight to Geonosis's atmosphere.
The landing transports then try to deal with the Geonosian anti-air and air defenses.
Meanwhile...
Anakin and Ahsoka head for their gunships.
"We're all ready, Rex?"Anakin asked.
"Yes, sir."Rex replied."General Kenobi and Commander Aomori are already under way."
"They've got a head start."Anakin said smugly."We'll have to catch up."
Then the gunship and the others flew away from the Star Destroyer.
Several of the gunships were taken down by the Geonosians.
Anakin's gunship was shot down.
But he, Ahsoka, and his Clone Troopers survive and push forward, despite losing his tanks.
"Come on! Get up!"Anakin demanded."We have to keep moving!"
"Here they come."Rex warned.
Rex and the Clone Troopers started firing at the Geonosians.
Anakin used his lightsaber to take down the Geonosians.
"They're falling back."Ahsoka stated as she deflected the lasers with her lightsaber. "Come on!"
The Clone Troopers followed after Ahsoka.
Back in Obi-Wan's Gunship...
"General Kenobi, Commander Aomori, don't land."Commander Cody warned."The zone is hot!"
"But there's nowhere else to go!"Obi-Wan argued.
Then the gunship got hit.
"Crud!"Nadia scowled.
"We're going down!"Obi-Wan shoutrd. "Brace yourselves!"
Nadia closed her eyes tightly and held on as the gunship crushed into the battle ground.
Meanwhile...
Anakin, Ahsoka and their Clone Trooper group continued fighting the Geonosians.
"Rex, what's the word?"Anakin called out as he hid from the blasts."Can Obi-Wan send support or not?"
"I don't think so, sir."Rex replied."Cody says General Kenobi and Commander Aomori never reached the landing site. They think their gunship got shot down."
"Great!"Anakin muttered."The one time I actually ask Obi-Wan for help, he's nowhere to be found."
"What if something happened to General Kenobi and Dia?"Ahsoka asked in worry. "They could be injured or..."
"No time for that kind of talk."Anakin interrupted and looked at Rex."We need to mobilise now. Get the men together. We're gonna rush the guns."
"Yes, sir."Rex replied.
"Ahsoka, you're with me."Anakin informed."We need to give Rex cover when we attack."
"Got it."Ahsoka replied."Just give the word."
"I'm worried about them too."Anakin assured."But you have to keep your mind in the here and now, otherwise we'll never be able to help Obi-Wan and Dia."
The Geonosians continued firing at the two Jedi and their Clone Trooper group.
"All here, sir."Rex assured.
"Ready?"Anakin questioned."Now!"
Anakin, Ahsoka and the Clone Troopers charged at the Geonosians.
"Go! Go!"Rex shouted angrily."GO!"
In the Other Side of the Battlefield...
Waxer and Boil slowly opened the crushed gunship, where they found Obi-Wan, Nadia and Trapper.
But the other Clone Troopers were dead.
"Waxer, Boil, are we glad to see you."Nadia remarked.
"Trapper and the two of us are the only ones still alive."Obi-Wan said.
"Good to see you, sir, ma'am."Waxer informed.
"Commander Cody's established the square just beyond this position."Boil stated.
Nadia helped Obi-Wan up and let him have her shoulder.
The two Jedi and the three Clone Troopers carefully headed to where Commander Cody was.
"Are you injured, Master?"Nadia asked in worry.
"No. Nothing too serious, young one."Obi-Wan answered and looked at Commander Cody."What's the situation here?"
"We've got no air cover, two Generals and one Commander on the ground beyond our position and a mess of bugs surrounding us."Commander Cody commented."The enemy was more than prepared for our attack, sir, they knew our every move."
Nadia frowned. "When you put it that way..."
"Well, I'm sure General Skywalker, Commander Tano and General Mundi will make it to our position."Obi-Wan replied."We just have to make sure we're still here when they arrive."
Meanwhile...
Anakin and Ahsoka run right into a high wall, armed with many laser turrets, where droids at the high ground start shooting at them.
"Careful, men!"Rex warned."Careful!"
The two Jedi and the Clone Troopers went to hide for cover from the deadly attacks.
"Well, this is another fine mess you've gotten us into."Ahsoka said sarcastically.
"What?"Anakin snarled."Hey, it's not my fault. You were supposed to study the holomaps."
"Nadia and I both did!"Ahsoka argued."Remember when we reminded you about the giant wall, and you said, "Don't worry, Snips and Kitty, we won't be going anywhere near that!"
"Just get ready to climb."Anakin reminded.
"So what's the plan, General?"Rex asked.
Anakin and Ahsoka put backpacks on their backs that contained detonators.
"Just keep us covered, Rex."Anakin insisted."There's too much laser fire for all of us to make the climb. Ahsoka and I will handle this. Just be ready when that wall comes down."
Anakin and Ahoska ran into a wall and used their grappling hooks to climb on it.
They then used their lightsabers to take down the battle droids.
"How many droids have you shot down so far?"Anakin questioned.
"25."Ahsoka answered.
"You're falling behind."Anakin sneered. "Let's go."
Anakin and Ahsoka landed in front of the battle droids and started slashing at them.
"Focus on the droids on the top of the wall."Rex ordered.
In the Landing Zone...
The Clone Troopers were getting taken down by the Geonosians.
Nadia used her lightsaber to slash the bugs and the battle droids while the Clone Troopers fired at them.
Geonosians were surrounding them from each side.
Meanwhile...
Anakin and Ahsoka took down the last of the battle droids.
"Look for a hatch."Anakin instructed."We need to put the explosives inside the wall."
"Found one."Ahsoka declared.
Two destroyers appeared and the two Jedi started slashing at them.
Rex appeared and helped them took down the destroyers.
"Come on, Rex."Ahsoka instructed."Up and away."
Ahsoka used the Force to lift Rex off the ground.
Anakin and Ahsoka threw the explosive charges into the deployment holes before jumping off the wall.
The two Jedi then landed safely as the wall exploded behind them.
"Next time, just tell me to jump."Rex insisted.
"Now, where's the fun in that?"Anakin asked with a smirk."Come on, we can't keep Obi-Wan and Nadia waiting."
Rex glanced at the other Clone Troopers.
"You heard him, lads."Rex reminded. "Let's go!"
The group then meet Ki-Adi-Mundi, who had fought his way through the Geonosians and cleared his way with the flame Clone Troopers.
"Master Mundi, do you read me?"Anakin asked.
"We are here, Skywalker."Ki-Adi-Mundi replied."We took a slight detour that put us out of communications for a bit."
"This has been a day for detours, Master."Anakin commented.
"Indeed."Ki-Adi-Mundi agreed."But now the road is clear, I can see the landing zone, it does not look good."
In a Star Destroyer...
Anakin contacted Admiral Yularen.
"Admiral, we're at the breaking point."Anakin reported."You've got to get some fighters down here."
"You are in luck, General Skywalker."Admiral Yularen informed. "I have one squadron of Y-Wing bombers available."
Back in the Landing Zone...
Things were not going well.
The Geonosians were easily taking down the Clone Troopers.
Luckily, Nadia was able to continue to fight the bugs without getting a scratch.
Just as Obi-Wan activated his lightsaber, Y-wings flew by and took down the Geonosian gunships.
"Reinforcements!"A Clone Trooper called out."The reinforcements have arrived!"
The Clone Troopers cheered at the announcement.
Nadia sighed in relief.
"Thank goodness."Nadia responded.
As the Clone Troopers walked forward, Nadia went to check on Obi-Wan, who was sitting behind a bunch of crates.
"Master!"Nadia shouted while rushing towards Obi-Wan."Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, young one."Obi-Wan answered."Just a little exhausted."
"Don't worry, you'll be fine."Nadia declared, getting a bit emotional."I promise."
Then Ahsoka, Anakin and Ki-Adi-Mundi showed up.
Ahsoka gives Nadia a nice big hug.
"Dia, are you okay?"Ahsoka questioned.
"Never better, Soka."Nadia chuckled. "I'm glad you and Anakin are okay too."
Ahsoka and Nadia walked up to Anakin and Obi-Wan.
Anakin noticed the condition that Obi-Wan was in.
"What happened to you?"Anakin asked with a smile.
"I might ask you the same question."Obi-Wan admitted and showed a hologram."Our combined forces should be enough to destroy the shield generator. Anakin, you'll need to take a small squad through the shield, as close as you can get to their gun emplacements from there, you'll be able to temporarily jam their scanners so they are unable to target the incoming tanks. Once the tanks knock out the shield, Master Mundi can bring the rest of the troops in with the gunships."
"Consider it done, Master."Anakin answered.
"All units are in position, sir."A Clone Trooper reported.
"Tell Skywalker to start the attack."Ki-Adi-Mundi replied.
Anakin, Ahsoka and Nadia lead the Clone Troopers to the battlefront.
"So far so good."Nadia admitted.
"Looks like it's working."Ahsoka remarked.
"It won't last long."Anakin declared."Bring up the tanks."
Anakin and the two girls threw EMP grenades that disable the enemy cannons, enabling the AT-TEs to destroy the shield generator.
Gunships then come in and Geonosians in the area surrender.
A moment after...
Anakin was helping Obi-Wan to the gunship as Ahsoka and Nadia walked up to them.
"So, Master, what was your total?"Ahsoka asked.
"Not now, girls."Anakin reminded.
"Aw."Nadia mocked with a smirk."Are you afraid you lost this time?"
"Fine."Anakin scoffed."55. That's my count and you two?"
"60."Ahsoka said with a smirk.
"Same with me."Nadia chuckled."Looks like we won."
Nadia and Ahsoka high-fived each other.
"Yeah, but I called in the air strike."Anakin sneered as he and Obi-Wan went on the gunship. "Tie."
This caused Ahsoka and Nadia to roll their eyes and smirk back at Anakin.
"You're impossible."Ahsoka and Nadia answered in unison.
Then the two girls smiled at each other.
"Jinx."Nadia sneered."You owe me a soda, Soka."
"I know."Ahsoka responded bluntly.
Obi-Wan glanced at Nadia.
"I'll never understand how you can simplify these battles into some kind of game."Obi-Wan commented.
"It's our way to make things more fun, Master Kenobi."Nadia replied and let out a light chuckle."I'll see you soon. Don't worry about me since Anakin and Ahsoka will be here to have my back."
"That sounds a bit assuring."Obi-Wan declared.
Obi-Wan was brought inside the gunship with Ki-Adi-Mundi as Ahsoka smiled at Nadia.
"Come on, Dia."Ahsoka insisted."We'd better get ready."
"I'm right behind you, Soka."Nadia answered.
"Well, take care of yourselves."Anakin admitted."I expect to see the two of you back here by the time I've destroyed the main factory."
"65, Skywalker."Ki-Adi-Mundi admitted.
"I'm sorry?"Anakin asked.
"My total 65."Ki-Adi-Mundi repeated."So what do I win?"
A smirk grew on Obi-Wan's face.
"My everlasting respect, Master Mundi."Anakin responded.
"That is a gift Anakin rarely bestows, I assure you."Obi-Wan commented.
Then the gunships flew away from Geonosis while Anakin went to join the two Padawans.
