Chapter 22: Lethal Trackdown
Lethal Trackdown!
The young Boba Fett has taken the law into his own hands and made two attempts on the life of Mace Windu, the Jedi Master who killed his father.
Boba's mentor, bounty hunter Aurra Sing, has taken three Republic officers hostage in an effort to force Windu to face Boba on their terms, a tactic that does not sit well with the young vigilante...
Ahsoka, Nadia and Plo Koon walked into one of the Jedi Temple's medical rooms that Anakin and Mace Windu were in.
"We have a situation."Plo Koon commented."We received a transmission from the bounty hunters."
Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia walked over to the small holo-projector in the corner of the room and turned it on as Mace Windu got off his bed.
"They apparently took hostages."Plo Koon said.
The curtains closed as a hologram of Aurra Sing and Boba Feet appeared, who had Admiral Kilian, Commander Ponds and one other Clone Troopers on their knees.
"Mace Windu."Boba retorted while pointing his blaster at Commander Ponds' head."You were lucky to escape, your friends here were not so fortunate."
"Until you face Boba, these men will be killed. One at a time."Aurra said and looked at Commander Ponds."What's your name?"
Commander Ponds didn't reply as Aurra kicked him.
"Name!"Aurra demanded.
"CT-411."Commander Ponds replied.
"Pathetic."Aurra growled and glanced at Boba."Boba do it."
Boba held his blastet, but hesitated to kill Commander Ponds.
"Boba!"Aurra demanded.
Boba lowered his blaster, only for Aurra immediately to shot Commander Ponds in the head.
Nadia covered her mouth in shock.
"That was Ponds."Anakin said mournfully.
"Only two to go, Windu."Aurra sneered with an evil smile."Come and find us, we'll be waiting."
Then the hologram of the bounty hunters and their hostages went off.
"I'll go."Mace Windu insisted.
"I thought you had bigger concerns?"Anakin reminded.
Mace Windu turned his head to look at the Jedi Knight.
"That was before we knew hostages were involved."Mace Windu admitted.
"You are too injured to travel, and your presence would only aggravate the boy."Plo Koon responded."I shall go and take the Padawans with me."
Plo Koon placed a hand on each of Ahsoka and Nadia'a shoulders as the two girls gave Mace Windu reassuring smiles.
Meanwhile…
The bounty hunters start to argue aboard Slave I.
Boba came into the room, where the two hostages were and Aurra nudged him.
"Next time I tell you to pull the trigger, you do it."Aurra scowled angrily.
Aurra and Boba went to the cockpit, where Bossk and Castas were waiting for them.
"It should only be a matter of time until they track us down."Aurra commented and glared at Castas."Something on your mind, Castas?"
"Yeah, I got something to say."Castas responded."We're in over our heads."
"You signed on to kill Jedi."Aurra retorted."Well, this is how it's done."
"You said the Separatists would pay well if we killed Windu."Castas reminded and glared at Boba."That kid destroyed an entire cruiser, and now we're taking hostages that was not part of the plan."
"I never took you for a coward, Castas."Aurra insulted and brought her attention on Bossk."And what about you, Bossk? You feel the same?"
"I'm still in."Bossk declared."I got a lot riding on this kill, and I need the cash."
"Not me."Castas admitted."I'm out."
"Well, then you're in luck."Aurra declared."I was planning on making a stop, you can drag your worthless carcass off of this ship when we land."
"Where are we headed?"Boba asked.
"We're going to visit an old friend."Aurra complemented."Maybe he can replace Castas, set course for Florrum."
Then the Slave I jumped into hyperspace.
Back in Coruscant...
Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia made their way to the hanger before getting into a Praxis Mk.
Using turbo speeders, the three Jedi took off across the city.
Both Ahsoka and Nadia were wearing matching ponchos while Plo Koon wore his brown cape.
"Master Plo?"Ahsoka spoke up."I don't understand. Shouldn't we be heading for the last place we knew Boba Fett was spotted?"
"Yeah."Nadia agreed with a nod."I thought that was the wiser place to look first."
"Why head to the one place we know he is not?"Plo Koon assumed.
Plo Koon lowered the speeder into one of Coruscant's Underworld portals, a massive ventilation shaft and shipping portal.
The size of the portal was huge.
"Whoa..."Ahsoka said quietly.
"Amazing."Nadia chuckled in awe.
"The second bounty hunter in the hologram is Aurra Sing."Plo Koon complemented.
"Another bounty hunter?"Ahsoka asked with a frown."Like his father, Jango Fett."
"Unbelievable."Nadia muttered in a unfazed tone.
"Yes."Plo Koon responded."It seems this boy found himself in the care of at least one of Jango's associates."
"So were looking for friends of Jango Fett or places where they hang out?"Ahsoka assumed.
"And to do that, we must go to the lower levels, the Underworld."Plo Koon replied.
"That's a good point."Nadia agreed and thought."Jango Fett must've been a very important person to Boba beside being his father. But getting revenge will only lead to more hatred and suffering."
Nadia felt butterflies in her stomach at what she thought.
"I still have horrible dreams of the fire that killed my parents, older brother and sister-in-law."Nadia thought."But was that fire really an accident?"
Plo Koon lowered the speeder onto one of the docking ramps.
The three Jedi exited the speeder and made their way towards a visitor processing area were customs droids were asking people for their passes.
Plo Koon unlocked a Force-activated lock and the ray shield went down allowing them to walk through it.
"The data on Jango Fett suggested he frequented this area."Plo Koon exclaimed."We must be cautious."
Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia made their way towards another landing pad with three hover taxi on it.
The trio then stepped onto the middle one and Plo Koon pressed a few buttons before they flew away from the area.
Meanwhile...
The Bounty Hunters made course for Florrum in hopes of obtaining aid and refuge from Aurra's former lover, who was none other than the Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka.
"Oh, my dear, you never were good at asking for permission to land."Hondo remarked.
"I never ask for permission to do anything, my darling."Aurra sneered.
Aurra then kisses Hondo causing Boba to become disgusted.
"Yes, I remember."Hondo chuckled.
Hondo then notice Boba next to Aurra.
"Not mine, I take it?"Hondo assumed.
Aurra introduced Boba to Hondo.
"No. Part of my crew."Aurra exclaimed."He's Jango's son."
"Oh, yes, yes."Hondo said and knelt in front of Boba."Sorry about your father. He was a friend and an honourable man."
Boba folded his arms and looked down in sadness.
Aurra then introduced Castas to Hondo.
"And that's Castas."Aurra declared."But he's getting off here."
Hondo looked at Castas.
"Couldn't handle her, could you?"Hondo asked."Well, don't be ashamed. You're not the first man to bail out from under her command."
"He's speaking from experience."Aurra commented.
"Oh, you're a dangerous woman."Hondo remarked."Yes, very dangerous. Come, come, come, let us go inside where we can discuss business over a drink like civilised people."
Aurra, Hondo and Castas followed Hondo and his men inside the bar.
Back in Coruscant...
The taxi that Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia were on descended lower into the underworld.
Plo Koon soon parked it near another bar after four failed attempts at other bars.
"Well, I hope we have better luck here."Ahsoka stated.
"I agree with you, Soka. This is the fifth scum bucket drinking hole we've been to."Nadia retorted while rubbing her arm."And each one was filthier than the last one."
The three Jedi made their way towards the bar.
"Yes."Plo Koon responded and looked at Ahsoka."And this time try to be more…subtle."
"What do you mean?"Ahsoka asked.
"You've adopted many of your Master's ways."Plo Koon admitted."Including a lack of subtlety."
Plo Koon walked past Ahsoka and Nadia.
"Sorry, Master Plo."Ahsoka apologised in shame.
Nadia looked at Ahsoka.
"Don't worry, Soka."Nadia assured."Just follow my lead and you'll be fine."
Ahsoka smiled at Nadia as they stepped in front of the door.
"Just try to blend in."Plo Koon exclaimed.""Listen, you may be surprised what people reveal when they have been drinking."
Plo Koon opened the door before he and the two Padawans walked in.
Inside the bar were various types og aliens getting drunk and a Twi'lek dancer on the stage whie colourful lights were swirling around.
A look of disgust grew on Nadia's face.
"Have a look around."Plo Koon instructed quietly.
Nadia stood beside Ahsoka as they walked through the bar while Plo Koon went to talk to the bar owner.
The two female Padawans closed theirs to connect with the force to hear the aliens in the bar, they then found the ones who had the information they need.
Ahsoka and Nadia walked near a booth and turned their backs towards two patrons in it, who they secretly started listening to.
"He was working a big job, at least that is what he said."the Nautolan man exclaimed."He was telling me he had some valuable information on a holo-transmitter and then boom! She shot him, it must have been some good dirt."
"What's her name?"the Weequay man questioned."Hope it's not who I think it is."
"He was working with Aurra Sing."the Nautolan man declared."She's bad news."
"Ah, that's her all right, she's the boss' ex."the Weequay man complemented."There's always trouble when she shows up."
"Yeah."the Nautolan man answered."That's the one."
The Nautolan man suddenly grabbed Nadia and held her with his arm wrapped around her shoulders, shocking Ahsoka.
"Find something interesting, kid?"the Nautolan man asked sarcastically.
"Let go of me, you swine!"Nadia scowled.
Nadia elbowed the Nautolan man in the gut and escaped his grasp before pushing him into his partner.
Ahsoka went to stood next to Nadia.
The Nautolan man recovered fast and turned around to face them with knives in his hands.
"Hey, what's this?"the Nautolan man demanded."What are you two reaching for?"
Ahsoka and Nadia had their hands underneath their ponchos, ready to grab their lightsabers.
The Weequay man and some other patrons immediately aimed their blasters at the two girls.
They all turned to look a Plo Koon with his lightsaber out.
"Stand down."Plo Koon demanded.
"You can't take us all, Jedi."the Nautolan man declared arrogantly.
The Nautolan man waved his knives threateningly at Plo Koon.
Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia formed a small circle to keep their attention on the patrons.
"Would you like to try and prove your theory?"Plo Koon questioned.
Both Ahsoka and Nadia activated their lightsabers as the two of them and the Jedi Master started to back up slowly towards the exit.
"Hey!"the bar owner snapped."Mobody's shooting up my place today!"
"He's right."Ahsoka said."Drinks on the house."
Then Ahsoka and Nadia tossed some money at the patrons.
The patrons turned their attention to the money on the ground and the three Jedi quickly exited the bar.
Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia then deactivated their lightsabers.
"Not very subtle."Plo Koon declared.
"Well, Ahsoka was being subtle."Nadia admitted with a shrug.
The trio made their way back to the taxi.
"Interesting result."Plo Koon exclaimed.
"But, Master Plo, you were right."Ahsoka said."We heard about a murder Aurra Sing recently committed."
"Where?"Plo Koon asked.
"Hondo's base on Florrum."Nadia replied.
"Well done, little Soka and young Dia."Plo Koon praised before they stepped onto the taxi."We're off to visit Hondo on Florrum."
Back in Florrum...
Aurra and Boba were in Hondo's office.
"Well, my dear, you are in an interesting predicament once again."Hondo informed and chuckled."Getting involved with the Jedi is never a good idea."
Aurra then got a contact by Bossk.
"Aurra."Bossk spoke up."We've got an incoming ship. Jedi by the look of it."
A dark look appeared on Boba's face.
"Windu."Boba scowled coldly.
"Finally."Aurra admitted before responding."Took them long enough. Move Slave I to the outskirts and get the hostages ready."
"Right."Bossk said evilly.
Bossk then ended the call.
Aurra looked at Hondo.
"So are you in or not?"Aurra questioned.
"I will not help you, but I will not hinder you either."Hondo said as he finished his drink. "This is your fight, not mine."
Then they Bounty Hunter ship flew off.
A Moment After...
A T-6 shuttle arrived at Florrum and landed in front of the pirate outpost.
The ramp lowered causing Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia to came out of the shuttle.
The three Jedi no longer wore their capes or ponchos.
Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia were greeted by Hondo as he walked up to them.
"Hello, hello and welcome to Florrum."Hondo greeted.
"I should assume you are walking us into a trap."Plo Koon guessed.
Hondo started leading the three Jedi to his bar.
"Yes, you should."Hondo agreed."They're waiting inside the bar, I have no idea what she has planned for you."
Nadia glared at Hondo.
"And the reason you're telling us is, Hondo?"Nadia questioned with a suspicious look.
"So you know that I am not involved in this, Aomori."Hondo replied.
Plo Koon looked at Ahsoka and Nadia.
"Remember, patience."Plo Koon instructed.
The two girls nodded at the Jedi Master and waited a few seconds before sneaking in and hiding behind a corner with Aurra's back facing them.
Aurra glared at Plo Koon as he sat in the seat in front of her.
"Bad move, Jedi."Aurra warned grimly."This will cost you."
Boba appeared from behind Plo Koon and aimed his blaster at his head.
"I wanted Windu."Boba retorted."What are you doing here?"
"We can do this the difficult way or the simple way."Plo Koon declared."The choice is yours."
Aurra contacted Bossk in her comlink.
"Bossk, can you hear me?"Aurra asked over her comlink."Execute the hostages if I give the word."
"Unwise."Plo Koon replied."You have already lost and you don't even know it."
"I am prepared to kill you, the hostages, whatever it takes to get what Boba wants!"Aurra retorted cruelly.
"Sounds more like what you want."Plo Koon commented.
Ahsoka ignited her lightsaber and quickly cut Aurra's antenna off before grabbing her and holding the blade close to her neck.
Boba moved the gun closer to Plo Koon's head, but then Nadia grabbed his arm tightly.
"Don't!"Ahsoka warned.
Boba glared at Ahsoka.
"Let her go!"Boba demanded.
Nadia clenched Boba's arm tighter.
"No chance."Ahsoka scoffed.
Aurra smirked, knowing Ahsoka won't kill her.
"She won't do it, Boba."Aurra sneered."She's not like you."
"She's right."Ahsoka responded."I'm not a murderer."
"I'm not a murderer!"Boba snapped."But I want justice!"
"We are justice."Plo Koon said calmly.
Nadia looked at Boba.
"Boba, getting revenge on Master Windu won't bring back your father."Nadia declared strictly before her voice softened a bit."Believe me. I know how you feel."
"Don't listen to them."Aurra scowled.
"No one will be harmed if you come quietly."Plo Koon assured.
A worried look appeared on Boba's face as he began to reconsider on what his about to do.
He glanced at Aurra.
"I can't let you die."Boba stated sadly.
"You won't have too."Aurra retorted.
"Aurra!"Boba shouted.
Aurra shot at Nadia, only for the Corellian to release Boba and activate her lightsaber to deflect the attack in time.
She then quickly pushed Nadia on the floor and elbowed Ahsoka in the chest causing her to back up.
The female bounty hunter stomped her heel to the ground, sending two spikes towards Plo Koon who slammed the table causing it to flip in time to catch the spikes before Force-pushing Boba back.
Aurra took out dual blasters and started shooting at the two Padawans, who managed to deflect the bolts.
Plo Koon used the Force to throw the table in between them.
The table exploded into chunks from Aurra's blaster fire.
Nadia used her lightsaber to cut Aurra's blasters in half before pointing it at her neck.
Aurra raised her hands in surrender.
Plo Koon started approaching the bounty hunter and the young clone.
"It's over, surrender!"Plo Koon demanded.
"Aurra, now!"Boba declared.
Boba then tossed a small round device at their feet causing the three Jedi to look at it before realising what it was.
"Bomb!"Ahsoka warned.
"Move out the way!"Ahsoka scowled.
Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia jumped out of the way and Aurra ran.
The trio landed on the ground in a mild daze.
"Boba, hurry!"Aurra demanded.
Aurra started running to the exit.
Boba started to run just as Plo Koon picked up his lightsaber up before using the Force to pull the kid towards him.
"Aurra, help!"Boba pleaded as the older Jedi gripped him by the shoulders."Help me!"
Aurra stopped at the door and turned to look at Bobba.
The bounty hunter turned her attention at Ahsoka and Nadia.
The two Padawans started chasing her when she took off to make her escape.
"Don't leave me!"Boba begged in shock."No!"
Aurra ran out the door with Ahsoka and Nadia right behind her.
They exited the structure in time to see her taking off on a speeder bike.
Both Ahsoka and Nadia went on their own speeder bikes and started chasing the bounty hunter through the canyons.
The two girls soon ended up in a narrow canyon and started catching up to her.
Nadia and Ahsoka activated her lightsabers as they managed to get between Aurra.
The bounty hunter bashed into them, forcing the speeder bikes to lose some speed and fall back before either of the two Padawans could take a slash.
Plo Koon then contacted Ahsoka and Nadia.
"Padawans, she is trying to lead you away from the hostages."Plo Koon reported."Go to coordinates 1-5-7-9."
"Understood, Master."Ahsoka replied.
"We're heading there."Nadia assured.
The two girls quickly took a left as Aurra kept going forward.
A few seconds later, they reached an open area with the bounty hunter, Bossk about to execute Admiral Kilian and the Clone Trooper.
Using the speeders guns, Ahsoka and Nadia managed to get Bossk away from them in time.
Ahsoka and Nadia jumped off the speeder bikes and let them zoom off to the side.
When the two of then landed, Ahsoka cut the binders off Admiral Kilian and the Clone Trooper.
After pulling his gag off his mouth, Admiral Kilian grabbed Bossk's rifle and aimed it at the prone bounty hunter who was about to stand back up.
"Don't move."Admiral Kilian ordered.
Aurra zoomed off the cliff and ditched the speeder she was on causing it to crash into the other one and making both explode which knocked the two girls, the admiral and the clone trooper onto the ground.
The group looked up in time just to see the female bounty hunter running up to the Slave I's ramp and into it.
Both Ahsoka and Nadia quickly got up and managed to jump onto the wing of the Slave I as it started taking off.
Unfortunately, Slave I started to shift forward.
Nadia managed to get to her feet into parts of the wing that stuck out while Ahsoka managed to get a good grip on the corner of the bottom of the wing.
"Dia!"Ahsoka shouted.
"I got you, Soka!"Nadia responded.
The raven haired girl pulled her best friend back up as the wing shifted, allowing them to stand properly again.
Ahsoka activated her lightsaber and sliced the part where the wing connected with the ship, causing it to fall to the ground while Nadia used her Force Judgement to damage a few parts of the ship.
The Slave I started to lean towards the right now that its left wing was gone, the two girls jumped onto the top of the glass, where the cockpit was.
Ahsoka and Nadia then used their lightsabers to slash the glass as Aurra tried blasting them with her blaster.
The two girls removed their lightsabers from the glass and started deflecting her lasers.
Nadia backflipped off first and landed on the ground before Ahsoka followed her as the glass shattered.
They looked up to see the Slave I crashing and exploding not too far away.
"Goodbye, Aurra Sing."Nadia thought with a smirk.
Afterwards on Coruscant...
Plo Koon, Ahsoka and Nadia showed up with Boba and Bossk in binders.
Eight Clone Troopers helped escort them as they met up with Anakin and Mace Windu, who were waiting for them.
As soon as they stopped, Mace Windu walked up to Boba and knelt in front of him.
"I see now I've done terrible things."Boba admitted and glared at Mace Windu."But you started it when you murdered my father! I'll never forgive you!"
"Well, you're going to have to."Mace Windu replied simply before looking at the Clone Troopers."Take him away."
Plo Koon placed a hand on Boba's shoulder and led him away while the others looked on.
Nadia looked at Boba with a sad look.
"So much anger and hate in him."Nadia thought worriedly."It doesn't seem he will ever snap out from it."
Ahsoka brought her attention on Nadia.
"Hey, Nadia."Ahsoka spoke up."Back at Florrum, what did you mean to Boba when you said you knew how he felt of losing his father?"
Nadia was silent at the moment at her best friend's question.
"Ahsoka, there is a lot about me you don't know."Nadia replied and smiled a bit."But I'll tell you when I'm ready like I said before, okay?"
"Don't worry."Ahsoka assured."I can wait. I'm very patient."
"Except when it comes to Shili cheese dogs."Nadia joked.
"Hey."Ahsoka laughed.
Ahsoka gives Nadia a playful punch on the arm, making the raven haired girl chuckle lightly.
Anakin made his way up to Ahsoka and Nadia.
"Alright, you two."Anakin stated."After lunch, we are going back to your training with Rex and his squad."
"You mean the one when we have try deflect their every attack and eventually pass out, Master?"Ahsoka guessed.
Anakin smirked."The very one."
Both Ahsoka and Nadia frowned at Anakin.
"Wonderful."Nadia stated sarcastically.
"Yay."Ahsoka grumbled.
