Chapter 23: The Academy
A world in crisis!
A peaceful planet of Mandalore is being strangled by the grip of corruption.
With short, it is of every time.
Citizens must turn to the black market in order to survive.
Desperate took free her people, Duchess Satine has asked a friend Padme Amidala to speak with the Jedi Council.
In hopes that they would send a systems to our struggling world.
In Space…
Anakin, Ahsoka and Nadia were inside a shuttle that was traveling its way to Mandalore.
"The Jedi Council's given you both a mission, Ahsoka and Nadia."Anakin informed."It's your duties to see it through."
"Don't you think we're just a little overqualified for this?"Ahsoka asked.
"Yeah. We don't even know the first thing about politics."Nadia retorted in boredom."Couldn't Ferus be the one to take this mission since he has more experience than us?"
"According to Padme and Ferus, Mandalore is a deeply corrupt world."Anakin replied. "If the cycle is to be broken, the future leaders at the Royal Academy of government must learn the evils of corruption. Master Yoda feels that only two young Padawans like yourselves can get through to them. As for your other question, Nadia, Ferus and his sister took their personal militia with Senator Organa and Mon Mothma on an important supply mission to Lothal because Governor Azadi requested their help since his people are going through a terrible case of famine, drought and the plague."
"Well…that's interesting."Nadia commented slightly.
Ahsoka had an unsure look on her face due to her doubts on the mission.
On Mandalore…
The shuttle headed towards the Capital City, Sundari and landed in one of the landing platforms.
Not far from the landing platform stood Duchess Satine with Prime Minister Almec and a couple of royal guards with her.
Not far where they stood was the Duchess' own nephew Korkie Kryze and his friends; Amis and Lagos.
Prime Minister Almec looked at Duchess Satine.
"My Lady, if I may, what do the Jedi know of our ways?"Prime Minister Almec questioned."Do we really want them meddling with our children's education? Especially after what Commander Aomori and Master Kenobi did."
"Surely there is nothing to fear from exposing them to new ideas, Prime Minister Almec."Duchess Satine complemented."And besides, Nadia has proven to be a reliable person even though she has a reckless behaviour."
The shuttle opened and the ramp lowered causing Anakin, Ahsoka and Nadia to walk out, then went up to the Duchess of Mandalore and the Prime Minister.
"Duchess Satine."Anakin said and kissed her hand, he then gave a respectful nod to the Minister. "Prime Minister Almec."
"Master Skywalker, so good to see you again."Duchess Satine responded and looked at Nadia."Even gar, Nadia."
"Vor entye, Duchess Satine."Nadia replied kindly and bowed."Gar sa pirusti."
Ahsoka glanced at Nadia, surprised to hear her best friend speaking in Mandalorian.
Duchess Satine smiled at Nadia and then looked at Ahsoka.
"This is your Padawan I assume, Master Skywalker?"Duchess Satine asked.
"Yes, my Lady."Anakin responded and introduced Ahsoka."May I present Nadia's best friend, Ahsoka Tano."
Ahsoka smiled at Duchess Satine and Prime Minister Almec.
"Duchess Satine."Ahsoka greeted."Prime Minister Almec."
"I am grateful that the Jedi Council could spare the three of you to help instruct our leaders and peacekeepers of tomorrow."Duchess Satine declared and looked at Anakin."Please thank Master Yoda for me."
"Actually, I'm afraid with our limited resources, I must return to battle immediately."Anakin admitted.
"So you will not be staying, Master Skywalker?"Prime Minister Almec questioned.
"No."Anakin responded."But I assure you, Padawans Tano and Aomori are highly capable Jedi and both have the full confidence of the Council."
"Very well."Prime Minister Almec replied before introducing the three cadets."Cadet Korkie, Amis and Lagos. These are some of the cadets that you two will be instructing, Padawan Tano and Padawan Aomori."
Ahsoka and Nadia looked at Korkie, Amis and Lagos.
"Hi."Nadia greeted with a wave.
"Nice to meet all of you."Ahsoka answered.
Korkie became excited at seeing Ahsoka and Nadia's lightsabers.
"Those are fine weapons."Korkie said in awe."May I see them?"
Prime Minister Almec placed his hand on Korkie's shoulder.
"I'm afraid not."Prime Minister Almec admitted sternly."Because of Master Kenobi and Commander Aomori's recent visit and the trouble that followed, no offworlders may carry weapons on Mandalore."
"Master Obi-Wan and Dia caused trouble?"Ahsoka asked with a surprised smile. "That's a first."
Nadia huffed and folded her arms.
"It was mainly Pre Vizsla's own fault for causing havoc and choosing to harm Satine in an attempt to bring the Death Watch to power and make the people of Mandalore even more of Count Dooku's pawns, Soka."Nadia said defensively.
Anakin let out a sigh.
"Just give me the lightsabers."Anakin instructed.
Ahsoka and Nadia handed their lightsabers to Anakin.
"Thank you for respecting our ways, Master Jedi."Duchess Satine thanked.
Rex looked at Anakin.
"Excuse the interruption, sir, but it is time to depart."Rex stated."General Fisto is expecting us."
"If you'll excuse me."Anakin commented.
Captain Rex and Anakin then walked back into the shuttle.
Ahsoka and Nadia smiled as they followed the Duchess of Mandalore and the Prime Minister to the Academy.
Afterwards…
In the Academy, Ahsoka and Nadia began teaching classes, including Korkie and his friends, about the nature of corruption and their duty as lawful citizens to combat it.
"Corruption is what happens when someone in power puts their interests of the people they represent."Ahsoka said.
"So it's a result of greed?"A girl with short brown hair called Soniee asked.
"Yes. A leader sacrifices moral integrity for the sake of money or power."Nadia admitted."Entire star systems have collapsed into chaos or revolution because their greedy politicians got caught up in a cycle of bribery and blackmail while their people suffered."
"Does that mean most Government officials are corrupt?"Lagos assumed.
"Well, no."Ahsoka answered."But the point is that temptation is always there and citizens must be vigilant so corruption can't take root. The deadliest enemies of a society dwell within its borders, and from these internal threats, the people need to be protected."
"But if you don't trust your leaders, isn't that treason?"Amis questioned.
"There are people that would think that."Nadia complemented and smiled."Though it is every citizen's duty to challenge their leaders, to keep them honest, and hold them accountable if they're not."
"How do you do that?"Korkie asked.
"By exposing corrupt officials for what they are."Nadia admitted.
"Lasting change can only come from within."Ahsoka declared.
A While Later…
Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis were in their room and listening to Ahsoka and Nadia's hologram messages.
"Be sure your assignments are prepared for tomorrow."Ahsoka stated.
"Best of luck to you all."Nadia remarked.
Then the holograms of Ahsoka and Nadia vanished.
"The school's out of rations again."Soniee declared while holding her laptop.
"I guess there'll be no late-night snacks tonight."Amis commented.
"Listen, we've had a food shortage since the war began."Korkie reminded."Transport ships keep coming in. But there's a strict rationing, something is wrong on Mandalore."
Lagos looked at Korkie.
"But these problems are bigger than us."Lagos reminded."Just let the authorities handle it."
"We have to do something about it like Ahsoka and Nadia said."Korkie suggested."Let's go down to the warehouse district and see if there really is a food shortage."
"Beats sitting around here listening to my stomach growl."Amis stated.
Afterwards, the four cadets headed to the warehouse district and walked up to the entrance.
"These doors are heavily secured by the Government."Korkie said.
"It won't be secure for long."Soniee warned.
Soniee placed on her holocam glasses while holding her laptop.
With the help of her laptop, Soniee pressed the right button and the door to the warehouse district opened a little bit.
"Looks like the Academy taught us well."Korkie chuckled and looked at his friends."Come on, up and over."
Korkie helped Soniee, Lagos and Amis up and followed them in.
But then he accidentally fell on the floor.
"I have a bad feeling about this."Lagos admitted.
"What are you doing?"Korkie asked.
"Quiet."Lagos whispered."It sounds like someone else is..."
"Let's get out of here."Amis stated.
"No, come on."Soniee encouraged.
The four cadets sneaked quietly in the warehouse and spotted three Mandalorian officers, three Gotals and a humanoid figure wreathed in a robe and hood, who unfortunately has his back turned to the young cadets.
"It's a little late for a meeting, isn't it?"Korkie questioned."Let's get a closer look."
"Are you crazy?"Lagos whispered in disbelief.
Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis went at the top to take a closer look of the three Mandalorian officers, three Gotals and the humanoid figure.
"Soniee, quick, use your holocam."Korkie instructed.
Soniee activated her holocam glasses and saw the black patterns on the officers guard suits.
"Those look like Mandalorian Police."Soniee exclaimed."But they're unmarked."
"Who's that? Who are those guys?"Korkie questioned suspiciously."What are off worlders doing on a secure port?"
"I don't like this."Amis admitted."I'm getting out of here."
Amis accidentally makes a blunder expose the quartet.
The three officers goes after them, but the four cadets narrowly manage to leave the warehouse.
However, Soniee's laptop terminal was found by the conspirators.
Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis then went back to the Academy and went to their room before shutting the door.
The four cadets all let out their breaths of relieve upon not being captured by the dangerous beings.
"What are we going to do?"Soniee asked worriedly.
"This is bigger than we thought."Korkie admitted firmly."We're going to need help. We should speak to my Aunt Satine."
Meanwhile...
Ahsoka and Nadia were at the temporary room that they were given to stay in the palace.
Nadia sat down on her bed wearing a hot pink nightgown while using a comb to brush her long raven hair before tying it in a ponytail.
Then Ahsoka came out from the fresher wearing dark blue pyjama t-shirt and matching pants to sit on her own bed.
"Today was hard."Ahsoka complemented.
"Yep."Nadia agreed tiredly as she placed the comb away in her backpack before collapsing on her own bed."I thought it would never finish."
Ahsoka glanced at Nadia.
"Hey, Dia."Ahsoka responded and smirked."Is it really true that you and Master Kenobi caused trouble here in Mandalore?"
Nadia groaned in annoyance as she buried her face in the pillow.
"Like I said before, it was Pre Vizsla's fault."Nadia responded and then stood up a bit to sit cross-legged in her bed."But there's something you should know, Soka. Come here."
Ahsoka went off her bed to go up to Nadia and sit next to her.
"During my mission on the Coronet with Master Kenobi, Anakin and Ferus, I caught sight of my Master and the Duchess flirting with each other."Nadia sneered in amusement."I've even heard Duchess Satine confess her love to Master Kenobi while she was held captive by Senator Merrik."
Ahsoka snorted her own laughter at Nadia's story.
"No way."Ahsoka chuckled."And what did Master Kenobi say?"
"He said he would've left the Jedi Order to be with her if she said the word."Nadia remarked.
"Who would've guessed that a Jedi Master like Master Kenobi would have a secret love life."Ahsoka replied mischievously."Do Master Skywalker and Ferus know?"
"They sure do and they even told Padme before we went with Ferus to help Riyo."Nadia answered and covered her mouth to laugh quietly."The funny part was that Master Kenobi denied at first at having feelings towards her."
Ahsoka and Nadia laughed lightly together.
"I think Master Kenobi and Duchess Satine would make a lovely couple, Dia."Ahsoka admitted.
"I think so too, Soka."Nadia agreed with a nod and covered her mouth to yawn."Anyway, we should get some sleep. Tomorrow is another day for teaching politics."
"Yep."Ahsoka commented and made her way to her own bed."Good night, Dia."
"Good night, Soka."Nadia replied.
Nadia put off the lantern before she and Ahsoka fell in a deep sleep.
The Next Morning...
Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis went to the palace to speak to Duchess Satine, who was in the balcony.
"Aunt Satine, may we speak with you?"Korkie asked.
"Of course, Korkie."Duchess Satine responded."Come in."
The four cadets walked in the balcony to speak to the Duchess of Mandalore.
"We did some investigating."Korkie declared."There's no food shortage. We found stores of food at the Government Port."
"How would you know this?"Duchess Satine asked.
"That doesn't matter right now."Korkie replied.
Duchess Satine frowned."I beg to differ."
"We made a recording of a secret meeting between what we know was a government official and a black marketeer."Soniee stated.
"That's why everything costs so much and so many people are starving."Lagos added.
"We need your help to find the one responsible."Korkie suggested.
"This is a serious matter, I agree. But the source of this evil may be more than you cadets can handle."Duchess Satine commented as she stood up."People can be very deceiving. You don't want to get yourselves into trouble."
Korkie frowned upon learning that his aunt didn't want him and his friends to help her.
"But, Auntie, don't you see?"Korkie asked."You can't ignore this."
"I won't. Trust me, but for your own safety, you must let me take care of it."Duchess Satine instructed."Now run along, all of you. Concentrate on your studies. There will be a time to save the world when you're a bit older."
Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis all nodded and then left the balcony, leaving Duchess Satine by herself.
The small group then began making their way back to the Academy.
"She refused to help us because she doesn't think we can handle it."Lagos scoffed.
"She just thinks we're a bunch of stupid kids."Korkie said angrily.
"She acted like nothing was wrong."Soniee retorted.
"We need to find someone else, who believes us."Korkie stated.
"Like who?"Lagos asked.
"Mandalore has two people in charge."Korkie admitted."Since my Aunt won't help, we'll have to go to the Prime Minister."
"What makes you think he'll listen?"Lagos questioned.
"I've known him my whole life."Korkie remarked."He's always told me to me to him. If I'm ever in trouble and I'd say we're all in big trouble."
A Moment After...
Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis contacted Prime Minister Almec after arriving back to their room in the Academy.
"Allegations, my intrepid young cadets."Prime Minister Almec responded."You think Duchess Satine knows who the conspirator is?"
"She said she was going to handle it."Korkie answered.
"Meet me in the Palace Plaza tonight."Prime Minister Almec instructed."Bring the recording you took of the black market deal and all the cadets who know about it."
An Hour Later...
It was time for Ahsoka and Nadia to start over the current lesson.
However, the two best friends notice Korkie talking to Soniee and immediately realised something was off.
"Korkie, you seem distracted today."Ahsoka spoke up."What's going on?"
"We did what you and Nadia said."Korkie admitted."We found evidence of corruption."
"What kind of corruption?"Nadia questioned.
"Well, we were hungry, so we decided to go look for food."Lagos declared.
Ahsoka and Nadia glanced at each other.
"Food?"Ahsoka asked.
"Yeah."Korkie agreed, not realising what he was saying."At the Government Warehouse."
Nadia raised an eyebrow at Korkie and his friends.
"So you're saying someone just let you into inspect the warehouse after speaking to them?"Nadia assumed.
"No."Amis answered."We broke in."
Soniee face palmed."Oh, great!"
"So you committed a crime."Ahsoka responded with a light glare.
"It sounds bad, I know."Korkie replied."But then we saw a meeting and off worlders..."
"And they chased us!"Lagos added.
"Maybe they chased you because you broke into a Government Warehouse."Ahsoka said.
"No! It was a black market deal!"Korkie protested."I know it! My Aunt Satine told us to stay out of it, but we must do something!"
"Do you have proof?"Nadia questioned.
"We made a holo-recording."Soniee answered while holding her device."The Prime Minister is meeting us tonight to..."
Nadia became a little suspicious upon hearing the four cadets would meet the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Almec seemed friendly, but the raven haired girl actually felt something off about him.
The only person she trusted more in Mandalore was Duchess Satine.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"Ahsoka asked.
Amis raised his hand up.
"But I thought you two said it was the duty of every citizen to expose corrupt officials."Amis reminded.
"We're only saying that you should take this slowly."Ahsoka admitted."Examine all of the facts and all of the people involved before you act."
"That's right."Nadia agreed with a nod."You should always get the full story before jumping into action. Otherwise, you'll never truly know what exactly is going on."
"You two sound more like my aunt than Jedi Knights."Korkie admitted with a hint of sadness.
Then the bell rang and all the cadets went out of the room.
Ahsoka and Nadia looked at each other.
"We're going to spy on them, aren't we?"Nadia guessed smugly.
Ahsoka smirked."There's no other better way."
Later that Night...
Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis went to the Palace Plaza to meet up with Prime Minister Almec, only to get confronted by members of the Mandalorian Secret Service.
"You Korkie?"the first guard guessed.
"Prime Minister Almec, is that you?"Korkie asked.
"Secret Service."the first guard admitted."You're all under arrest for treason, corruption, and conspiracy."
"You will come with us."the second guard ordered.
"These are the same guards we saw last night!"Korkie scowled and glared at the guards."We've done nothing wrong!"
The guards held the four cadets hostage.
Suddenly, Ahsoka appeared and leaped off the balcony in a double flip, striking a guard hard in the back with her fist.
Nadia then followed suite and did a flip to kick two guards, knocking them out cold.
Ahsoka takes out another guard before he reacted and used a baton to take out the third one.
Nadia used the Force to take a shield and use it to whack the last guard on the face.
The guards then scattered away from Ahsoka and Nadia like scared mice before the two Padawans bought their attention on the four cadets.
Ahsoka helped Soniee up.
"Looks like Prime Minister Almec set you up."Ahsoka declared.
Nadia helped Korkie stand up from the ground.
"That's treason."Korkie argued."He's the other leader of our system. He couldn't possibly be a traitor."
"So Senator Merrik's treachery meant nothing?"Nadia scoffed.
"We need proof."Lagos informed.
Soniee's eyes light up in excitement.
"We have the recording!"Soniee remarked.
Soniee then took out the recording and showed its hologram to Ahsoka, Nadia, Korkie, Lagos and Amis.
But the group couldn't tell who the hooded figure was.
"That's no good."Korkie replied."You can't see who it is."
"Hold on."Nadia instructed.
Nadia took out a retrieval from her belt.
"Information retrieval, I need you to I.D. a hologram."Nadia instructed.
The retrieval identified the hooded figure, revealing it to be Prime Minister Almec.
"Well done, Dia."Ahsoka praised with a smirk.
Nadia smiled at her best friend as the four cadets became angry at seeing Prime Minister Almec was another traitor to Mandalore.
"That's him!"Korkie scowled.
"You're right."Soniee said with a sad frown."That is Prime Minister Almec."
"We have to take this to my Aunt and warn her."Korkie insisted as he started to become worried."They know I talked to her."
Ahsoka, Nadia, Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis rushed into the palace.
But when the group went to Duchess Satine's room, they found a guard lying on the floor.
"We're too late!"Korkie retorted.
Ahsoka knelt down to examine the guard.
"He's dead."Ahsoka admitted.
Korkie moved to rush past his companions.
"Korkie, wait."Nadia protested."The intruders may still be inside."
Korkie ignored Nadia's warning and headed off causing the others to follow after him.
The group arrived to the other room and found a few guards laying dead on the floor while a few furnitures were broken.
"They took her!"Korkie growled angrily as he dropped onto his knees in sadness."This is all my fault."
Lagos tried to comfort Korkie, but he ignored her and stood up.
"Who knows what they've done to her."Korkie responded in fear.
"Now what?"Amis asked."How are we supposed to find her?"
"Who can we trust?"Lagos said in worry.
"We need all of you to calm down and focus."Nadia suggested.
"We know Prime Minister Almec is behind this."Ahsoka assured.
"After my Aunt, he's the most powerful person on Mandalore."Korkie commented.
"So let's go talk to him."Nadia admitted.
Ahsoka looked at Nadia.
"Do you have a plan, Dia?"Ahsoka guessed.
"Of course, I do."Nadia said smugly and gestured her best friend and the four cadets to gather around her."Here is what we'll do…"
After Nadia finished explaining her plan to Ahsoka and the four cadets, the group now knew what they had to do.
But more importantly, not to blow their covers.
Ahsoka and Nadia were escorted to the Prime Minister Almec's Office by two guards.
"Master Jedi, this is an unexpected pleasure."Prime Minister Almec remarked with a fragile smile."What can I do for you both?"
"Actually, Prime Minister Almec, it's what we can do for you."Ahsoka admitted.
Ahsoka gestured to the door causing four guards to bring Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis into the room with their hands cuffed.
"We believe some of our students are involved in a conspiracy against you."Nadia declared firmly.
"Intriguing."Prime Minister Almec replied gleefully.
Later in the night, Prime Minister Almec and the two Padawans arrive at the prison where the guards take the four cadets to their cell.
"You can't do this!"Korkie shouted as he was taken away."We trusted you, Padawan Tano and Padawan Aomori!"
Prime Minister Almec glanced at Ahsoka and Nadia.
"Thank you both for bringing the traitors to justice, Master Jedi."Prime Minister Almec thanked.
"They mentioned that Duchess Satine was their leader."Ahsoka admitted."We should arrest her too."
"Do not worry."Prime Minister Almec assured."We already have her in custody."
A wave of worry grew within Nadia, but she quickly blocked it within her.
"Really?"Nadia questioned."Where?"
"That is none of your concern."Prime Minister Almec stated."Now, I must prepare a public statement about the Duchess and her crimes."
Prime Minister Almec then went on the transport and was out of sight.
Ahsoka and Nadia went up to the guard.
"Officer, we need to interrogate the prisoners immediately."Ahsoka insisted.
The guard nodded at the two girls and let them in.
Ahsoka and Nadia head into the prison, where two guards escorted them to the cell where the four cadets were being held in.
"Careful, you four."Nadia warned sharply."We're being watched."
"Did he buy it?"Lagos asked.
"Did you two find my Aunt?"Korkie asked.
"Not exactly, but we know they have her in custody."Ahsoka responded.
"Where?"Korkie asked.
"Prime Minister Almec didn't tell us."Ahsoka answered regretfully.
Amis sighed in defeat.
"I knew this plan wouldn't work."Amis commented.
"Hey. Have a little faith and we'll find her."Nadia encouraged firmly."We'll just modify the plan a bit."
"How are you two going to do that?"Soniee asked.
"Don't worry."Ahsoka assured."You'll know when to act when we give the signal."
"What's the signal?"Korkie asked.
"This will be fun."Nadia sneered.
Ahsoka and Nadia went out of the cell too speak to the guard.
"You will take us to Duchess Satine."Ahsoka instructed.
"I will take you two to Duchess Satine."the guard repeated.
Ahsoka and Nadia followed him, unaware of the other guard trailing behind them.
Ahsoka and Nadia were taken where Duchess Satine was.
It was a large room, where they find a large glass box suspended above the ground and Duchess Satine was at the top.
Nadia headed over to the control console and was about to press a button when the guard stopped her.
"What are you doing?"the guard demanded.
Ahsoka used her mind trick on the guard.
"We must interrogate Duchess Satine."Ahsoka ordered.
"You two must interrogate Duchess Satine."the guard repeated.
Nadia smiled as she started pressing some buttons in order for Duchess Satine's cell to be lowered to the ground floor.
Ahsoka and Nadia quickly caught the Duchess of Mandalore before she fell and helped her stand straight.
"We're getting you out of here, Satine."Ahsoka remarked.
"You're safe now."Nadia assured.
"Ahsoka, Nadia, it's a trap."Duchess Satine warned fearfully.
"I see you found Duchess Satine, younglings."Prime Minister Almec said as he walked in with two guards."You may stop your playacting now, Sergeant."
The influenced guards immediately turn around and stand at attention.
"Prime Minister Almec, sir!"the two guards answered in unison.
"Using a Jedi mind trick was a very poor decision."Prime Minister Almec declared with a smirk."My guards have been trained to resist such archaic magic."
A bunch of guards rushed in and surrounded Ahsoka, Nadia and Duchess Satine.
Ahsoka and Nadia glared at Prime Minister Almec.
"And now you have revealed yourselves as conspirators."Prime Minister Almec complemented and looked at a device."Set for stun."
The searchlight focused on the two girls and shot two small blue rings.
Ahsoka and Nadia let out a small cries of pain and both fell to their knees.
"You little fools."Prime Minister Almec insulted.
Back in the Cell...
"Where are they?"Lagos asked.
"Stick to Ahsoka and Nadia's plan."Korkie reminded.
"But how do we do that?"Soniee asked."It's falling apart."
"Ahsoka and Nadia wants us to wait for a signal, and that's what we're going to do."Korkie stated.
Meanwhile...
Two guards grabbed Ahsoka and Nadia to move their arms behind them before placing binders on their wrisrs.
Prime Minister Almec walked up to Duchess Satine while holding out a data pad with writing on it and a pen.
"Sign it."Prime Minister Almec demanded."Sign the confession and admit to your treasonous ways."
"There is only one traitor to Mandalore here, Prime Minister Almec, and that's you."Duchess Satine scowled."You control the black market, you have betrayed the public trust and used your office to accumulate wealth and power. It's shameful."
"Your idealism is inspiring, my dear, but hopelessly naive."Prime Minister Almec said with a chuckle."I established the black market for the people."
Ahsoka and Nadia glared at Prime Minister Almec.
"That's absurd!"Ahsoka snapped angrily.
"The War is disrupting trade across the galaxy."Prime Minister Almec stated."The profits from the black market are being used to purchase humanitarian supplies for Mandalore, think of it as a new tax in the interest of national security."
"It's a tax for your benefit, Prime Minister Almec."Duchess Satine retorted."Where are these humanitarian supplies you speak of?"
The Prime Minister of Mandalore looked at one of the guards.
"Sergeant, put the shock collar on her."Prime Minister Almec ordered.
The guard took the shock collar off his belt and walked over to Duchess Satine before snapping it on her neck.
"My patience has worn thin, Duchess Satine."Prime Minister Almec declared sternly."Maybe this will convince you."
Prime Minister Almec then pressed a button on the console.
Duchess Satine cried out in pain as the collar was activated before the Prime Minister of Mandalore paused it a few seconds later.
The Duchess of Mandalore started breathing heavily as Ahsoka and Nadia watched her with worried looks.
"I would rather die than sign your confession."Duchess Satine said coldly.
"That can be arranged."Prime Minister Almec admitted.
"You're a monster!"Nadia growled.
This caused the grip on the guard that held Nadia to grow tighter.
"You're wasting your time!"Ahsoka snapped.
Prime Minister Almec glanced at the guards.
"Bring me those traitorous cadets."Prime Minister Almec ordered.
"No, you can't."Duchess Satine begged in worry."They're just children."
The guards left the large room and soon came back with Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis.
"I'm afraid your nephew will have to suffer needlessly."Prime Minister Almec informed and looked at a guard."Put the shock collar on Cadet Korkie."
The guard walked forward with another collar as another guard held Korkie still.
Nadia and Ahsoka looked at each other, sharing a smirk.
Now it was their turn.
Suddenly, Ahsoka head butted the guard holding her in the chin before summersaulting as the same guard attempted to grab her, the female Torguta elbowed him in the face before slapping her fists on another guard's head.
Nadia turned around and kicked the guard that held her where the sun doesn't shine before grabbing him and throwing him to where two guards.
"Go!"Korkie ordered.
Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis then tackled four guards to the ground.
The Prime Minister attempted to use the console again before suddenly being thrown into two guards by Nadia, who used the Force.
Ahsoka and Nadia each took a guard's shield and quickly turning around to block stun blasts from the spotlight while taking down few of the guards.
Korkie knocked down another guard as Ahsoka used the Force to throw one guard into the cell before she, Nadia and Duchess Satine started dodging stun blasts.
Ahsoka kicked another two guards on the ground as Nadia dodged another and backflipped behind Duchess Satine.
Nadia removed the collar on Duchess Satine before ducking another stun blast as Ahsoka kicked the Prime Minister Almec's feet out from under him.
Nadia quickly placed the collar on Prime Minister Almec and he attempted to remove it before Ahsoka quickly moved to the console and slammed her fist on the button.
"Gotcha."Ahsoka retorted coldly.
Prime Minister Almec groaned in pain as he got electrocuted for a few seconds before falling to his knees.
Two guards attempted to move forward to attack, but stopped when Prime Minister Almec raised his hand at them.
"Stop fighting!"Prime Minister Almec ordered.
Nadia scoffed at the state of Prime Minister Almec.
"Looks like you're the fool now."Nadia complemented.
Duchess Satine stood up and looked at Ahsoka.
"Send for my personal guards."Satine ordered.
Ahsoka nodded, agreeing with the Duchess of Mandalore.
Afterwards, Duchess Satine's personal guards showed up and a few took away Almec's guards.
Duchess Satine, Ahsoka, Nadia, Korkie, Soniee, Lagos and Amis' binders were removed and Almec was placed in the same cell the Duchess had been in earlier.
Almec glared at the group as Duchess Satine pushed the right lever on the console and the door closed before the cell that Almec was in was raised to the ceiling.
Duchess Satine brought her attention on Ahsoka and Nadia.
"You two must know by now that I didn't bring you both here just to teach."Duchess Satine admitted kindly."I knew something was amiss, but I had no one to trust. I thought if I brought a Jedi or two, especially Obi-Wan's own Padawan and another good friend of Senator Amidala and Padawan Olin, we could solve this mystery together."
"I never doubted you, Satine."Ahsoka remarked.
"Me too."Nadia agreed with a nod."So all is forgiven of my first visit here with Master Kenobi?"
"Of course, Nadia."Duchess Satine assured."And you did end up saving me for the third time."
A smile of happiness and relief appeared on Nadia's face at the words of Duchess Satine.
"We never doubted you either, Aunt Satine."Korkie admitted.
Korkie walked forward and gave a hug to Duchess Satine.
A While Later...
The shuttle arrived and landed on the platform.
Ahsoka and Nadia turned to face Duchess Satine as Korkie stepped up to them.
"It was an honour to serve with two famed Jedi heroes of the Clone Wars."Korkie declared.
"It was our privilege to be your teachers."Ahsoka admitted.
"But next time, think before you decide to break into a place, okay?"Nadia instructed with a playful wink.
"As if that will happen for the second time."Korkie chuckled.
Both Ahsoka and Nadia gave Duchess Satine a respectful nod.
The two Padawans then turned back around to see Anakin exit the shuttle and make their way towards him.
"I hope this assignment wasn't too boring for you both."Anakin complemented with a small smirk.
Ahsoka shrugged her shoulders.
"It had its moments."Ahsoka replied.
Anakin grabbed his lightsaber off his belt before flipping it in the air and holding it out.
"Huh, like the one where you convinced untrained children to help you overthrow a corrupt government?"Anakin questioned with an accusing look.
A smug look appeared on Nadia's face.
"That was actually pretty satisfying."Nadia replied.
Anakin brought out Ahsoka and Nadia's lightsabers before the two girls' placed their weapons back in their belts.
"Sounds pretty risky."Anakin commented."You're both lucky you didn't get hurt."
This caused both Ahsoka and Nadia to smirk at Anakin.
"Nothing you wouldn't have done."Ahsoka sneered.
Nadia chuckled at Ahsoka's respond.
"Besides, it turns out we can take care of ourselves."Nadia informed.
The two girls walked up the ramp of the shuttle as Anakin had a stunned look for a moment before following them inside.
Then the shuttle powered on and flew away from Mandalore and headed back to Coruscant.
