Chapter 35: Wookiee Hunt
Ahsoka Tano and Nadia Aomori are missing in action!
Captured and released into an hostile jungle they fight to stay alive with the help a small band of jedi younglings.
As Anakin Skywalker scours the galaxy desperate to find the lost padawans, Trandoshan sport hunters track the youngling prey.
With being separated from their friends, we find Ahsoka and Nadia on the run as the hunters close in around them.
In the briar jungles of Island Four...
Ahsoka, Nadia and Kalifa were running from the Trandoshan pursuer, Lagon that was trying to kill them.
But the three Padawans managed to trick him by hanging beneath a large branch of a tree.
Then Garnac came by in his flying hunting pod and went next to Lagon.
"Where are they?"Garnac demanded.
"Those ones was faster than most."Lagon replied."I have lost the scents."
"They can't hide forever."Garnac snarled."Mark my words, I'll have them hide and nail the three of them to the wall for killing my son."
A While Later...
Ahsoka, Nadia and Kalifa made it back to their hideout where Jinx and O-Mer were waiting for them.
"You two made it."Jinx remarked.
"We feared the worst."O-Mer admitted.
Ahsoka and Nadia carefully placed Kalifa near the small bonfire.
"Hold on, Kalifa."Ahsoka instructed.
Nadia then took out a necklace hidden underneath her belt which continued an antidote before she bent down to give it to Kalifa to drink.
"This will slowly heal your muscles."Nadia exclaimed."It will take time, but you'll get better."
"Thanks, Nadia."Kalifa murmured.
"We're all going to die here."O-Mer stated as he sat down."It's only a matter of time."
"If it's only a matter of time that we die, I say we go down with a fight."Ahsoka commented.
Jinx scoffed."That is suicide."
"You've said that every few days they release new prisoners on the beach."Nadia reminded.
"I say we attack that drop ship head on."Ahsoka admitted."They'll never expect it."
Jinx and O-Mer looked at each other, but they then stood up.
"Is it worth a shot?"O-Mer asked.
"Maybe it is."Jinx answered.
The Next Morning...
In the cover of vegetation and the morning mists, Kalifa, Ahsoka, Nadia, Jinx and O-Mer were watching as the Trandoshan transport arrived on the scene.
"There it is."Nadia retorted.
"Get ready."Kalifa reminded."We'll have to be swift."
"The drop point's not far."Jinx commented.
"Now!"Ahsoka ordered.
The five Padawans jump onto the Trandoshan transport as it hovered above the beach.
This caused two of the Trandoshan pilots (Clutch and Goron) to spot them.
"What the-"Goron started.
"It's one of those blasted Jedi welps."Clutch snarled."Get them!"
This caused Goron to go out of the cockpit and head above the transport to shoot Ahsoka and Nadia with his blastet.
However, Kalifa, Jinx and O-Mer wrestle Goron down.
"We'll take the pilot."Nadia stated.
Ahsoka and Nadia descends into the transport's cockpit to take down Clutch.
Their fight at the control consoles sends the transport drifting around aimlessly and damages vital systems, forcing the young Padawans to abandon their attempt.
"Get out of there!"Kalifa shouted."Come on!"
"But the prisoners, they'll die!"Ahsoka protested.
"Hit the release!"Jinx warned."Hurry!"
Just before the transport breaks apart, Ahsoka and Nadia opened the cage release to let the other prisoners out.
Ahsoka and Nadia joined Kalifa, O-Mer and Jinx as the transport crushed into the sandy ground and setting itself on fire.
"Well, I guess we won't be escaping on that ship."O-Mer commented.
"We'll find another way."Nadia assured.
The five Padawans then heard a growl which earned their attention.
"What was that?"Kalifa questioned.
"A survivor."Ahsoka declared."It could be one of the prisoners they were dropping off."
Then the creature went out of the darkness, revealing to be a male Wookiee.
"What is that?"O-Mer asked.
Nadia's eyes widen in surprise at seeing a Wookiee.
"It's a Wookiee."Nadia replied.
The Wookiee growled in respond.
Later that night, Kalifa, Ahsoka, Nadia, Jinx and O-Mer brought the Wookiee to the hideout and learned his name was Chewbacca.
Due to Chewbacca's speaking in the language of his homeworld Kashyyyk, Ahsoka and Nadia understood what he said due to have learned various languages back in the Jedi Temple.
"Chewbacca?"Nadia said."That is your name?"
Chewbacca growled at Nadia.
"Chewbacca, does anyone even knows you were taken?"O-Mer questioned.
Chewbacca let out a low growl as he shook his head.
"No."Ahsoka admitted with a small smile."But he says his home world is very close."
"That's great but it might as well be Coruscant as far as I'm concerned."Jinx stated as he stood up."We've got no ship."
Chewbacca stood up and growled a response before sitting back down.
"He thinks he can contact his home planet if we find a way to transmit a signal."Ahsoka stated.
"Right. And how would we do that?"Jinx asked sarcastically."Send smoke signals? We don't exactly have a transmitter lying around if you haven't noticed."
Kalifa gives Jinx a frown, knowing her friend was becoming impatient.
"But this isn't time for us to complain or give us, Jinx."Kalifa reminded.
Chewbacca then spoke again.
"Chewbacca says he can build a transmitter from the wreckage on the beach."Nadia admitted.
Ahsoka smiled. "That's actually a good idea."
"Yeah."Kalifa chuckled slightly."I say it's worth a shot."
Chewbacca growled in agreement.
"Well, we can't just sit here."O-Mer remarked.
"Fine."Jinx replied."We'll do it the Wookiee way."
Later that night...
The five Padawans and Chewbacca sneak back to the destroyed transport.
"Chewbacca and us will go out to inspect the crash site."Ahsoka stated.
"You three stay here and signal us if you see anything."Nadia commented.
Chewbacca, Ahsoka and Nadia sneaked into the crushed transport as Kalifa, Jinx and O-Mer watched them.
The trio then stepped back when they saw a hunting pod shun its light around around the area.
"It's a patrol."Ahsoka murmured.
"Fantastic."Nadia retorted in sarcasm.
The hunting pod then went away as the two girls and the Wookiee quietly looked on.
"Hopefully that patrol won't be back for a while."Ahsoka responded.
Nadia nodded in agreement.
Chewbacca, Ahsoka and Nadia then went inside the crashed transport.
As soon as the three of them came closer, Chewbacca started looking around.
"What are we looking for, Chewie?"Nadia asked.
Chewbacca growled as he took a piece from the cockpit of the broken transport.
Ahsoka smirked at Nadia upon hearing her best friend give an odd nickname to the Wookiee.
"Chewie?"Ahsoka sneered.
"That's all I can think of."Nadia said with a shrug.
Ahsoka brought her attention back on Chewbacca.
"Are you still feeling optimistic about making a transmitter out of this junk?"Ahsoka assumed.
"It could work."Nadia remarked."Back on Corellia, me and the boys used to create many crazy things using junk metals."
Chewbacca growled as he took more pieces to build the transmitter.
The Wookiee then placed them in an empty crate.
"We better get going."Ahsoka stated."That patrol may come back."
Ahsoka, Nadia and Chewbacca then went out and hid in the broken wing of the transport.
As the two girls took a few steps forward, they notice Chewbacca looking scared.
"It looks clear, Chewie."Nadia replied softly."Come on."
Chewbacca growled a response.
"It's okay."Ahsoka assured.
Then lasers were fired and the three of them quickly took cover.
"Sniper!"Nadia warned."Get down!"
Ahsoka, Nadia and Chewbacca notice a Trandoshan hunter (known as Smug) knock Kalifa and O-Mer out before going to stab Jinx with a knife.
But then Chewbacca grabbed Smug and started strangling him by the throat.
"Wait!"Jinx protested."We should take him prisoner!"
"I hate to admit it, but this lizard creep could give us something."Kalifa suggested.
"Fine."Ahsoka responded and glanced at Chewbacca."Chewbacca, let's take him."
Chewbacca knocked out Smug and placed him on his shoulder before he followed his new friends back to their hideout.
Back in the Hideout...
Jinx tied up Smug's hands tightly as Ahsoka and Nadia looked at Chewbacca, who worked on his transmitter.
"How's it looking, Chewie?"Nadia asked.
Chewbacca growled as he worked on the transmitter.
"Will it work?"Ahsoka asked.
The transmitter then started bleeping.
"Well, something's working."O-Mer commented.
Then electricity crackles in the transmitter and it powers off much to the group's dismay.
"We've got a prisoner."Kalifa stated."We should be using him to our advantage while we have a chance."
"I thought the prisoner was the backup plan."Nadia reminded.
"t's clear enough that we cannot relay on that device."Jinx replied.
Chewbacca growled at Jinx, feeling offended.
"No offence."Jinx assured."But we just can't sit here any longer."
"We should wait."Ahsoka replied.
"I agree with Kalifa and Jinx."O-Mer admitted."We have to act while we have an advantage."
"Let's say we do it your way."Nadia said."What's the plan?"
"We can use the prisoner to trick the enemy into flying one of their pods down to us."Jinx commented."Then we hijack the pod, fly up to their base and take them by surprise."
"Ahsoka, Nadia, you two got us to believe in ourselves again."Kalifa reminded."And, well, I and O-Mer believe Jinx's plan will work."
"Look, do what you want."Jinx insisted."But Kalifa, O-Mer and I are leaving with the prisoner in the morning."
Kalifa, O-Mer and Jinx then walked away as Ahsoka and Nadia quietly watched them.
"Their hearts are in the right place."Ahsoka said before looking at Chewbacca."You know we can't let them go alone."
Chewbacca growled with an unsure look on his face.
"We're not going to be able to do this without you."Nadia commented."We need your help."
Chewbacca let out a low growl.
"Who knows?"Ahsoka sneered with a smile."Maybe our luck's just about to change."
"Nothing seems hopeless, if we work together."Nadia chuckled.
Chewbacca then growled, agreeing to the two girls' plan.
The Next Morning...
Kalifa, Ahsoka, Nadia, Jinx and O-Mer arrived to the beach area with Chewbacca, who held Smug hostage.
"Alright."Ahsoka spoke up."We better get started."
"Right."Jinx stated and looked at Smug."Time to call your friends."
"I'm not helping you, whelp."Smug retorted coldly.
Nadia smirked at Chewbacca.
"Chewbacca, we need him at eye-level, please."Nadia requested.
Chewbacca brought Smug on his knees.
"You will listen to me."Jinx demanded.
"No, I won't."Smug cackled evilly.
"Poor choice."Kalifa scoffed.
Chewbacca then punched Smug in the head, making him dizzy before Jinx used his Jedi mind trick on the Trandoshan hunter.
"You will listen to me."Jinx ordered while waving his hand.
"I will listen to you."Smug repeated.
"You are our captive, and now you've escaped."Jinx instructed.
"I was your captive, but now I've escaped."Smug answered.
"You need to call a speeder to pick you up."Jinx ordered.
Jinx then removed Smug's handcuffs off.
"I need to call a speeder to pick me up."Smug responded.
Smug then took out his comlink and put it on.
"Smug, where have you been?"Krix demanded.
"I need a speeder to pick me up."Smug declared.
Soon, Krix arrived on a hunting pod to get Smug as the five Padawans and the Wookiee stood by watching them while hiding in the jungle.
Krix then offered his hand out to Smug.
"Get in, let's go."Krix ordered.
"Now!"Ahsoka ordered.
Then Chewbacca, Ahsoka, Nadia and Jinx took down the two Trandoshans while Kalifa and O-Mer grabbed a hold of the hunting pod.
"It worked."Kalifa praised in approval.
O-Mer glanced at Ahsoka and Nadia.
"Want a lift?"O-Mer requested.
Ahsoka and Nadia smiled at Kalifa and O-Mer.
Afterwards...
Chewbacca, Ahsoka, Nadia and Jinx arrived to the transporter and attacked two Trandoshans (Lagon and Ramy) before landing on the ship.
O-Mer and Kalifa remained in the hunting pod as Chewbacca threw Lagon off the transporter.
However, Ramy managed to call Garnac and the rest of the Trandoshan hunters.
"Kill them!"Garnac ordered in fury."Kill them! I want their skins!"
Ratter and Gilas started firing using their blasters causing Chewbacca to use a machine to protect his friends from the lasers.
Ahsoka and Nadia notice Ramy running to one of the cannons.
"Hey, let's give him a lift."Ahsoka suggested.
Nadia smirked. "I love your idea."
Then Ahsoka, Nadia and Jinx used the Force to lift the cannon and Ramy up before throwing them to Ratter and Gilas.
The three padawans and the Wookiee started to fight the Trandoshans.
O-Mer and Kalifa were on the hunting pod and avoided Garnac, who was firing at them with a cannon.
However, Garnac's cannon shot the hunting pod causing O-Mer and Kalifa to lose control on it.
The group then ducked down as O-Mer, Kalifa and the hunting pod they were on crushed in.
"Are you okay, O-Mer?"Kalifa questioned.
"Yeah."O-Mer responded with a nod.
The Trandoshans then aimed their guns at Chewbacca, Ahsoka, Nadia, Kalifa, Jinx and O-Mer.
"A valiant effort, little younglings."Garnac praised with an evil smirk before bringing his attention on Ahsoka and Nadia."Especially you two, Togruta and pretty face. You will both be prize trophies in my collection."
Ahsoka and Nadia glared at Garnac.
Suddenly, Chewbacca started growling to give out a signal.
Then the Wookiee Relief Force led by Wookiee General Tarfful and aided by the bounty hunters, Sugi and Seripas arrived just in the nick of time to save them.
Then the five younglings, the Wookiee and their reinforcements started fighting the Trandoshans hunters.
The two girls notice Garnac going inside.
"Can you get us up there?"Ahsoka asked.
Chewbacca nodded as he pushed Ahsoka up with his hands before doing the same with Nadia, making them do a big leap and went to the top deck of the transporter.
"Thanks, Chewie!"Nadia called out.
Then Ahsoka and Nadia went inside the entrance, where Garnac went it.
A fire fight erupted on the lower deck of the transporter, killing the entire Trandoshan crew.
Inside the Transport...
Ahsoka and Nadia went into the bowels of the ship and looked around for Garnac.
Then Garnac leaped down and attacked the two girls with a knife.
The two girls started fighting him in hand-to-hand combat, making him lose his grip on his knife.
Garnac then grabbed a blaster and started shooting at them.
Ahsoka and Nadia avoided Garnac's blaster shots before the raven haired girl used her Force Judgement to destroy the blaster.
Ahsoka then used the Force to push Garnac away.
"You're beaten!"Ahsoka stated.
"Surrender pirate scum or things will go messy."Nadia warned.
"You two murdered my son!"Garnac growled."And you both need to pay for what you two did!"
Ahsoka's frown deepened while Nadia rolled her eyes.
"Oh please."Nadia scowled in a bitter look."You have no one to blame, but yourself."
"Your son died because of your own actions."Ahsoka replied."Not ours."
Garnac notice a gun close to him.
"Don't you dare!"Nadia warned.
Garnac takes the gun and attempts to kill the two girls.
But then Ahsoka and Nadia used the Force together to push Garnac out of the hatch and down onto the lower deck, killing him instead.
Then the two girls went to check on the others.
Ahsoka and Nadia looked down to see their friends cheering and have won the battle against the Trandoshan crew.
Afterwards...
The Wookiees took Kalifa, Ahsoka, Nadia, Jinx and O-Mer back to the Jedi Temple in Coruscant.
Ahsoka and Nadia thanked Chewbacca for rescuing them.
"Ahsoka!"Anakin called out."Nadia!"
Ahsoka and Nadia notice Ob-Wan, Anakin and Plo Koon approaching them, making bright smiles grow on their faces.
When Nadia saw Obi-Wan, she rushed towards him and gave him a big hug, completely surprising him.
Obi-Wan then smiled and hugged Nadia back.
Nadia's eyes then widen and then stopped hugging Obi-Wan.
"I…I missed you so much, Master."Nadia admitted shyly.
"I missed you too, young one."Obi-Wan said with a smile.
Plo Koon went over to Ahsoka and Nadia.
"It is good to see you two safe, little Soka and young Dia."Plo Koon declared.
Plo Koon then went up to the Wookiees as Anakin looked at Ahsoka and Nadia with a guilty look.
"Ahsoka, Nadia, I'm so sorry."Anakin apologised in regret.
Ahsoka and Nadia looked at Anakin with confused expressions.
"Huh?"Nadia questioned.
"For what?"Ahsoka asked.
"For letting you two go for letting you both get taken."Anakin admitted."It was my fault."
"It wasn't your fault."Nadia assured."We should have tried harder, you already did everything you could."
"Everything you had to do."Ahsoka admitted gratefully."When me and Dia were out there alone, all we had was our training and the lessons you and Master Kenobi taught us."
"And because of you two, we did survive."Nadia exclaimed with a smile."And not only that, we were able to lead others to survive as well."
Obi-Wan became impressed by Ahsoka and Nadia's statements.
"That's very wise, you two."Obi-Wan praised.
"I don't know what to say."Anakin responded.
"I do."Ahsoka admitted.
"So do I."Nadia added.
Ahsoka and Nadia then bowed their heads in respect at their Jedi Masters.
"Thank you, Masters."Ahsoka and Nadia answered in unison.
Obi-Wan and Anakin smiled at Ahsoka and Nadia.
"You're welcome, our Padawans."Anakin replied.
"We're very proud of you both."Obi-Wan chuckled.
Obi-Wan, Anakin, Nadia and Ahsoka then walked away as Master Yoda watched them go in delight.
