Before Me The Revolution! 3 - (Code Geass, Bonaparte!SI)
Reports after reports, I was finding myself smiling as several long-term projects unfolding before the unilateral call of independence came to a proper closure.
The first of which was the finalization of the industrial plan that had expanded our capacity to enforce autarky to some extent and have an industry worthy of a powerful military. It had taken years, with the plans first unfolding from Kenya and then moving through the other states we secured.
The new currency, the 'African Lyre', had been in use for years now and it had been introduced as a 'secondary but safer' currency compared to the Euro. With the USA's independence, it had turned into the primary currency, having already a degree of trust and strength within the African Market to the point that the slight inflation rise was within acceptable parameters.
With the economy and the military under check, it was then a matter of 'internal security'. While the Diamond Dogs had easily relied on the rigged system of politics that existed all over Africa to expand its reach, the system itself was now detrimental for a proper reform.
The options were two: either we went down the path of highest resistance with the chance of triggering a civil war with the 'old aristocracy' within the states, or the 'Japanese option' which was to 'legalize businesses and put people on pensions' so that appointed officials to replace those big figures.
Without hesitation, I took the second choice and I had been slowly weeding out all those figures that had the biggest wealth around, then I tackled the smaller fishes to finalize the work. It was going to take two to three years before I could safely say that the corruption had been eradicated, and for democracy to be implemented.
Despite its name, the United States of Africa was a dictatorship. I was in charge, my officers were handling the true administrative areas all over the continent, and elections were for now limited to the lower positions.
To enforce democracy all at once meant to give the corrupted and rotting system I was reorganizing the means to not only replace me but also wreck the progress I had made for a federal super-state.
So, that was going to take all the time it needed, and I focused on the matters at hand: such as reinforcing the Moroccan border with Spain since Britannia had made the landing there. We had the troops to garrison the new troublesome hostile line, and I happily ignored the threat of military intervention from the EU for my illegal proclamation.
Despite all the fanfare they raised, the Council of Forty literally sent me three ultimatums in the span of three weeks and none saw a genuine interest from their own military to do things. Why? Well, the army was getting ass-fucked by Britannia in a two-fronts war. I doubt they could exactly sent anything and I had my spies confirm as much.
The migration was still unfolding, but the new arrivals were getting vetted before being allowed in. We had to stop more than a dozen EU agents trying to enter inside and 'restore order', with the rest being more than glad to have freedom of relocation within the USA.
The new pool of skilled workers was good, but I had to also implement a few policies to regulate migrants-natives' relations. There was no way that I could just think that the locals would just accept Europians with the kind of treatment their country went through, but I could take steps to slowly work those issues out and ultimately allow those new citizens to integrate as planned.
All in all, the situation was a bit tense due to the war, but the home front was holding relatively nicely. Since most of our trade was unfolding through the Middle Eastern Federation and into the Militarized Region of India.
I had also sent some agents to infiltrate Area 10 and 11, but I doubted we were going to face many surprises anytime soon in those Britannia-owned areas since Zero had yet to make an appearance and the Britannian security system was sloppy at best.
Despite that, setting up some early contacts with subversive elements was an important thing to do. Especially since those sweet islands could really help as springboard for a 'Chinese Revolution'. All in all, I was content with the paperwork and-
"Sir, we have news from the Domarck's Expedition."
The sudden interruption from my assistant via the intercom surprised me for a moment, plus the mention of Captain Domarck so soon had me smiling as I knew what it meant.
"Have they found it?"
"Report says here that they 'found it, secured it, and also gotten a package from it'."
I frowned at the last bit. "What package?"
A few minutes later, I was standing by a security room in the main base where the 'package' was currently eating a slice of pizza. Albeit one could easily mistake this as us somehow finding C.C., the truth was that this little thing was smaller, younger-looking and had been found in the Haute-Kantanga's Thought Elevator.
The girl had long purple hair kept in long twintails and inquisitive purple eyes.
Since Britannia planned to have capture it within this invasion, I decided to get over them by having a base established there and getting some explosives ready to wreck any plans involving it. For now, I had no intention to tickle the 'Gods issue' just yet. Rather, I was intrigued by this little Geass-giver since she wasn't canon.
"I am going to talk with her."
My secretary looked at me as if I had grown a second head as I said that, and he appeared nervous. "S-Sir, we don't know if-"
"I got it, don't worry. I know what she is."
He gave me the expression of a man trying to understand a drunk friend's 'awareness', but I merely flashed a smile as I marched to the secure room where the girl was kept. The very moment I entered that room was where her eyes were upon me. She turned her head and... she kept on munching on her pizza slice.
She tilted her head to the side as I stepped in, closed the door and-
"Contract?" She asked curtly and I frowned.
"No."
Her head tilted to the opposite side, confusion blossoming on her face. "No?"
"No. I am not dumb."
She didn't respond to this, allowing me to sit down right beside her by the couch as we both... chilled.
"I am B.B., you?"
"Napoleon Bonaparte."
B.B. slowly nodded, munching on a new slice. "Why?"
It took a little more to decipher this 'short but complex question', but I think I got this one right too.
"Didn't plan it."
"No?" B.B. asked with renewed surprised.
"No. I was trying to keep some bad men from acquiring access to the Elevator. They want to kill those Above."
B.B.'s eyes went wide open. "Why?"
"They dumb. And they have contracts."
"Oh. That's sad."
I nodded, and I saw she had actually finished her pizza. And that she was yawning.
"Lap pillow?"
The girl gave me a tired look and nodded before crawling up and resting her head on my lap to fall asleep.
In the end, I had to get the rest of the reports in that room since I found it difficult to slip out of that situation without disturbing the slumber of my new ally and close confidant. New plans were already presenting in my mind and...
I had a shoulder loli to vet them through to verify their validity from now on.
AN
B.B. shall be the... mascot! Headpattable, pizza-loving, and wanting more than mere caressing once she is dined and dated the right way. B.B. ain't a loly, rather she's a lovable shortstack.
