Survivor - Heroes vs Villains

Chapter 1 - The Marooning

...It's here, guys. It's finally here. ...Ugh. Where should I even start?

Let me start by giving you all my thanks right off the bat. If it weren't for yall, this season would have never seen the light of day. What started out as me simply wondering what would it be like if Smash characters played Survivor, now everything has led up to this point: an All Star season.

Survivor - Heroes vs Villains was and always will be my favorite season of all time as far as real Survivor is concerned. And with me loving the theme so much, why not have it as my first All Star season of my series?

Mario, Yoshi, Foxy, Specter Knight, Meta Knight, Zelda (Twilight Princess version like in her season), Plague Knight, Ridley, Donkey Kong, Ryu, Vector, Sonic, Wolf, Shovel Knight, Bowser, Sheik, Springtrap, Isabelle, Golden, and Shadow are all coming back to compete in season five of my Survivor series as either a hero or a villain.

As for the players that could have or would have made this season, well... Lucario and Daisy would have took Sonic and Isabelle's spots if I did not decide to include winners (since back in the day I was thinking of season five being my last season, but not anymore), Ken, Luigi, Funky Kong, Panther, and Val all would have been strong contenders had it not been for Foxy, Mario, Ryu, DK, and Wolf all playing before them, Freddy was in the running, but Shovel Knight took his spot, and Incineroar was in the running, but Plague Knight took his spot. I would have brought Doc Louis back, but I stuck with Isabelle as a winner to include more female castaways.

Now with that all out of the way, each of these twenty players had reasons to be brought back. As for spoilers, well,... everyone reading this obviously should have read all four seasons at this point. But then if you don't mind being spoiled, then of course I am not stopping you reading this lol. But as for myself and my reviewers, in this story, we can spoil all the big moments and details as we want. No reason otherwise.

Okay. I actually don't want to make a super long intro for this, but I'll just say one more thing. I don't know if I would still be on this site if it wasn't for Survivor. Because of the show, I think I finally found my footing on this site lol. My writing is way better compared to what it was when I started writing Kodai Island, I've received the most reviews ever of my entire Fanfiction life with season two, and people are still interested. So once again, I thank you all.

Now, are you guys ready? I am. How about we get started with this?

~KF

The Caribbean. One of the most tropical places in the world.

Just as the previous season, there was a quick montage highlighting the location the next season of Survivor was going to take place.

It is also infamous for its piracy that took place over three hundred years ago.

Several different pirates were also starting to get shown as well as their boats firing canons.

It was the location setting from our last season, but we have come back here for season five to have our very first All Star season.

Suddenly, castaways that have participated in the first four seasons of Survivor were being shown in a montage of their own.

Seventy-eight castaways have signed up to compete in a life changing experience. And twenty of them have been selected to compete one more time.

A brief part of the original Survivor theme song was heard.

-/-

"Welcome to our fifth season of Survivor!" Master Hand was seen floating high above the Caribbean sea. "And this time, we are having our first All Star season."

In another scene, there was the sound of four helicopters flying around, holding five contestants each. Yep, this was All Stars alright. There was no other reason for the survivors to get special treatment. Yet three of them actually arrived from a helicopter before in Survivor - Mexico. Not fair in comparison to everyone else, but at least there was no one left out this time.

Music: Main Theme (Super Smash Brothers Brawl)

Inside the helicopters were obviously the pilots making sure they knew where they were going. Yet the biggest reveal were obviously the players. First, recognizable features from the castaways were shown such as a certain necktie, a red cap with an 'M' on it, a red headband, and white gloves... Well, there were a few players that were gloves, though the ones that the audience were seeing belonged to a cast member that did not have any fur on his arms just to make things easier.

...Okay, perhaps the reveal of the faces made things much easier. The image was blurry at first, but that was intended. As it became more clear, it was obviously Sonic the Hedgehog. And in another shot, there was Donkey Kong sitting right next to Zelda.

"These are ten of your greatest Survivor heroes!"

Once the rest of the heroes were shown, suddenly the faces of their competitors were seeing the light. There was Ryu sitting between Wolf and Ridley, with the rest of the villains revealing themselves to the fans.

"And ten of the most notorious villains!"

In a brief shot, Kevin 'Springtrap' Davis was winking at the audience with a big smirk on his face.

Ooh, what did the survivors have to say about the team they were going to represent for Survivor - Heroes vs Villains?

Hmm... How about Golden of all people? From Survivor - Mexico (Brain vs Brawn vs Beauty).

"Usually the villains are the ones that are backstabbing, manipulating, and cutting the throats of other people," Unfortunately, he was a victim of Specter Knight regarding his elimination. A brief flashback occurred with him pitting Golden and his friend, Funky Kong, against each other. The last clip of the flashback showcased Golden getting his torch snuffed. "but it doesn't mean that it's impossible for heroes to win a game like this. We've had three winners that have won this game before, and another winner where he was not really a hero nor a villain. So the villains may be more entertaining to watch, but statistics show that it is actually people like us that have the advantage."

He was not really wrong... Stats never lied.

As stated before, there were two planes representing each tribe. And Yoshi the dinosaur was on another plane, lucky enough to get a window seat. ...Then again, it could have been rather unlucky for him if he was in fact afraid of heights. Though judging by the excited grin on his face, it was not the case.

"I didn't think I was going to come back, but apparently I'm an All Star now! We were all in these cool helicopters, and I'm sitting right next to the Sonic the Hedgehog! What's more awesome than that?" Dinosaur Land's hero was already jumping out of his skin... or fur, since he was a furry... was he? "So I'm glad that I'm on this tribe. If I was with the villains, I would be kinda... scared for my life. ...Hahaha!"

Speaking of the first winner of the series, it was only fitting for him to also earn one of the first confessionals of the season.

"It feels so surreal to be playing this thing again. I've won the very first season, and... it's kinda amazing how far the show has come to this point. And now I'm invited back as an All Star? Definitely something interesting!" Sonic had a flashback of his own sitting at the final five as the last member left of his original tribe, before the scene switched over to Master Hand reading the final vote needed to confirm his win for the million dollars. "And then to top it all off, me playing Survivor with some of the friends that I've made, whether both in and outside of this? What more could I ask for?"

One more before the scene was going to switch to the Villains team. One more. Who was it going to be? ...Shovel Knight.

"As a person, I am rather used to going on big adventures with my partner, Shield Knight. And when I first signed up to be on Survivor, I figured it was not going to be any different. Now with me coming back, I consider it to be a major blessing from the Survivor Gods. Not everyone gets to experience this twice. Only this time, things are obviously going to be a lot more competitive. Right now I suppose to be biggest priority for me is making sure I am not voted out first. If I get to experience this a second time, it's better to last for as long as possible."

Now it was time to dive into the more interesting team, the Villains tribe. And just why were they considered to be more interesting than the Heroes? Only because they were Villains and the Heroes were not... No kidding.

"Going into the season, my fans have been calling me 'the original villain' of this show. For some reason, they liked it when the edit showed me yelling and screaming a lot, especially when I was beefing with Mario." Those words came from 'King' Bowser Koopa. "I mean, after attending every pre-merge tribal and constantly being on the bottom, my actions were at least a bit justified. I didn't win last time, but I knew I had a chance. And you know what? ...I think I could still pull away with this. Obviously I am gonna go guns blazing out here."

As a character, he was definitely somebody to watch in Kodai Island. The fans found it rather interesting of how things were going to go for him knowing it was going to be his second time playing.

Who was another big villain? Hmm... How about Shadow?

"Obviously I am on here due to me making a couple flashy moves against people that I was aligned with. They already know who they are." When the scene showed Shadow's vote for Mega, it was a reminder of how shocking of a moment it was. And when another clip showed Shadow officially flipping against his old tribe by Shulk's torch being put out, it really gave him a villainous reputation. "But hey, it was what I thought was going to get me further. If that's considered villainous by most people, then I own that. I ain't getting to the end of the game by riding coattails and doing nothing. If you've come out here just for the adventure, you're wrong. And you automatically waste a spot that could have went to somebody else that has actually signed up to play the game. I don't know exactly what I would need to do off the bat this time, but at the end of the day, I'm not changing who I am just because people don't like it."

Bowser was a major character, Shadow was a major gameplayer, even though he was eliminated early on in the merge. Regardless, he did enough to earn his spot on the Villains camp.

Specter Knight only had to do one thing to find his place on season five, and everyone already knew what it was.

"In the early days of my season, I was rather quiet. Though in my mind I was strategizing all the time. And it took me losing a reward challenge to provoke me to do something for my own benefit, thus I caused one of the biggest blindsides of all time." Specter's flashback of him playing his idol on Plague Knight, scaring Espio into playing his own idol on Golden only for Espio himself to go home, was going to play on repeat for years. "It put a bigger target on my back, but I had my reasons. Overall, I care not of what people think of me. This game's motto is to outwit, outplay, and outlast for a reason. Even though this place is more... tropical this time around, you are a fool if you consider this a vacation. And the fact that this is a returning players season, it should be a complete bloodbath, especially since I am on the Villains tribe."

So there were characters that were brought back to the show for being themselves and who they were, and there were characters that were brought back due to their gameplay.

Ridley Zebestian completed both criteria, and ended up being a shoo-in from season four.

"Watchers of my season went from rooting against me, to suddenly rooting for me." Most likely after they realized what was becoming of the dragon's character arc. "Rather interesting to say the least. But regardless, I am a villain, and they shouldn't expect anything less. We are the ones that are usually responsible for making flashy moves and coming up with big strategies. And if a villain wins this season, it will prove just that."

"And it is still the ultimate challenge!"

Master Hand was seen, now floating above the shore with the waves crashing right in front of him.

"Twenty players forced to battle the elements and each other. They must learn to adapt, or they will be voted out. In the end, only one will remain to claim the million dollar prize. Thirty-nine days, twenty people, one Survivor!"

It was time for Survivor - Heroes vs Villains to kick off once and for all, with the official opening now playing on the television screens of many. It was the perfect time for the Survivor intro of the season to be played.

EPISODE 1: Definitely Something Interesting

Alright!

So, Master Hand remained in his position on the shore as two of the helicopters were making their way over to his location. Two mats were sitting near him, one tribe meant for each of them.

The blue mat in particular had an obvious color for the Heroes tribe, who were in the first two helicopters. Upon them landing, they immediately got off of them one by one.

At that moment, it was quite an opportunity for any happy tune the players thought of in their minds. All just to represent the heroes and make the good guys' moment feel more special. Naturally good people deserved good music.

...Then again,... perhaps the Villains deserved music that was more, um... kickass. ...Or perhaps something more intimidating and suspenseful.

There were players like Shovel Knight, Sonic, Donkey Kong, and Vector all being seen making way over to their blue mat with the largest grins on their faces, in spite of Shovel Knight wearing a helmet shielding his entire face.

Donkey Kong raised a fist in the air in celebration, with the crocodile laughing a bit as he stood in place on his spot on the mat.

"By far the best grand entrance for any Survivor player. We were in a big 'ol helicopter like we're celebrities or somethin' flying over to the island." Vector paused for a moment. "...Oh wait, we're already famous. Hahaha! Guess this is the official All Stars treatment. We really did come back here to play again! And oh boy am I ready! I mean I get to be on the same tribe as Sonic... Donkey Kong... So as far as the Heroes are concerned, I think I fit right in!"

Isabelle was seen greeting the other heroes upon making it to their mat as she and her fellow teammates shook hands and friendly embraced each other.

"Not only I am considered to be one of the most notable heroic figures on this show, but I'm coming back into this game as a winner. The only other person in this season that has won before is Sonic. And for my win in particular, there was a bit of controversy of how I played." Throwback to Isabelle Cosgrove stating repeatedly to other players and to production in confessionals to 'keep the Brains together'. There was an all Brain final three, and regardless of some criticism, Master Hand still gave her the million dollar check. "But I guess people find it heroic to actually keep my tribe unified and me playing a big part of the only final three in the history of Survivor to represent one tribe. I just really liked my team, and the Heroes are no different! I like all nine of them! I think we will get along quite great working together."

She chuckled slightly. "But even I know for a fact that people are not as likely to stay together the whole way. This is All Stars, so naturally things might get more intense. For example, if someone feels like they are on the bottom of this tribe, they would be provoked enough to flip and switch over to the other side. And with me possibly having a big target on my back, I hope I am not on the bottom, because I generally want to play this game with these people for as long as I can."

Hearing more noise, the ten heroic figures all turned their heads to see two more helicopters coming their way... Oh no! The villains were coming! What were they going to do?

Now it was time for the fans of think of some tune that sounded as evil and malicious as possible. Bwahahahahaha!

Upon their helicopters coming closer, it resulted in their opponents turning right back around to shield their eyes to avoid the sand they were picking up with the rushing wind. The villains were already attacking the heroes before they even got off the plane! They had to be stopped! Who was going to be the first boss they had to face together?

...

Springtrap. ...Okay, comparing to the rest of them, he was not going to be that big of a problem on the surface. Great choice for the first boss.

But anyway, with Plague Knight being seen exiting the helicopter as well, production decided to allow the audience to see things from his perspective.

"The heroes were all greeting each other and saying hi, and the next thing they knew, we just had to come in and crash their party. Hahaha!" Rather entertaining for him indeed. "They were all shielding their eyes and everything because they're scared. They don't know the real game of Survivor like we know. So even though they arrived first, us intimidating them serves them right."

Plaguey already being cocky. Sounded just like him alright.

More of the villains came out walking over to their red mat including Wolf, Specter Knight, Ridley, and Sheik. Their enemies eyed them all the while and every last one of them stared back. Nothing ever intimidated the villains. If anything, the villains needed to intimidate the heroes like Plague said.

Wolf O'Donnell though, could not have helped but snicker.

"You watch any cartoon on TV, and obviously we're labeled as the bad guys. Personally, I wouldn't really call myself a bad guy, but in order to make the story interesting, it obviously needs an antagonist in it. Not trying to literally sound like those heroes aren't worth anything. The villains were just a label we were all given and it's gonna be fun to see us all poke fun at each other for cool points. ...On the other hand though, if I am one of the ten most notorious villains of this show, it's something I gotta own if it's gonna be us against the heroes. I bet the fans would love it to see us destroy them in challenges."

The red team was seen greeting each other as well. Though some of them were not huggers, the ones that never found it to be a proublem were rather friendly with each other.

Yet as karma for them, all four helicopters had to leave. And when they did, the wind made the sand pick up again and they too had to avoid it getting in their eyes. One of the contestants in the regular show in Survivor (season thirty-three) ended up getting a bacterial infection as a result.

Moments later, Master Hand decided that it was finally time to welcome his first All Star group of players.

"Welcome... to our very first All Star season of Survivor." He stated. "Season five... Survivor - Heroes vs Villains."

Cheers and shouts were heard among them, followed by several claps in anticipation. This was it for them. It was finally happening.

"Congratulations to all twenty of you." The All Stars cast was seen in one big shot. "Each and every one of you has done something in order to earn your spot on whatever tribe you are on. We have ten of the most iconic Survivor heroes against ten of the most infamous villains all at the same time..."

"So Ryu," He called on the street fighter to speak. "how does it feel to be part of the latter? You backstabbed members of your own tribe because you wanted to play the game in a different way, only to have it backfire on you."

Ignoring Specter Knight at the end of that sentence, Ryu Hoshi began to explain himself. "Well,... I didn't really come into this game wanting to be a villain."

A few of his fellow contestants were heard chortling.

"I just don't think it's necessarily in my character. But I suppose it was exclusively on how I played in my season. And if I was watching somebody playing the way that I was, I would call that villainous gameplay. So I don't think production made the wrong decision here... I don't know if I should feel happy about it or own it, but this is the tribe that I'm on, master."

"Hmm... Interesting." Master Hand commented, glancing over to the other side. "And over here, we have someone like Golden. You two come from the same season, even aligned with each other, but he played basically the opposite game you played where he tried to keep his old tribe together. Probably the best game out of everyone in season three overall, only to have him to be voted out right after you."

Which was also the result of Specter Knight. And with Espio's elimination before that, he directly put all three of them on the jury.

Golden Fredbear himself pointed that out. "I guess that is exactly why I'm here, master. I mean comparing myself to some of these other figures, it's a shock to me that I'm even an All Star. But if there's one thing me and Ryu have in common, we both fell victim to the same person. And unlike me, Ryu actually has to deal with him over there."

Specter Knight briefly rolled his eyes with his arms folded.

"Okay, so Specter Knight." Smart. Might as well have given him some attention. "Common denominator. I'll be surprised if you are actually shocked to be on the Villains team."

"If anything, if I was not standing here, it would be a crime." Yep. It made sense for someone like him to own his title. "I'm on the tribe that I feel that I belong. Even if I was not always playing within my best interests at different points, at least I am with other players that respect the strategic aspect of the game more than those heroes over there."

Some wanted to beg to differ.

"Donkey Kong, you're shaking your head at that."

"Just because we're heroes doesn't mean we don't understand how this game works. There were some of us that were considered heroic due to being able to adapt to what we were surrounded with. Did we still understand the whole strategy behind Survivor? Yes. But did some of us need to be villainous in order to play a decent game, absolutely not. It was in my best interest to bring people together to cause a major power shift in my season, and even villains like Bowser of all people realized that."

Not a bad comeback. He even name dropped Bowser to use him as an example. Oh boy...

Koopa slowly turned his head side to side, but kept his grin.

"Bowser." was all Master Hand had to say to get a response from him.

"I mean, I'll admit it. I had to work with Mario of all people to try and get myself further. I felt that I had to go through death just to deal with that, but it's what I needed to do."

Mario sighed chuckling himself. "Master, I already feel like this is Kodai Island again and we haven't even made it to our camps yet."

Mario and Bowser's rivalry. Classic.

"Well at least you won't have to live with each other." That was the bright side. But the downside to that was the fact that it was going to severely limit their interactions.

"Does anyone in particular feel like they were placed on the wrong tribe?"

...

The hands of Foxy, Sheik, and Springtrap were all raised.

"Well I did question that a little." Sheik spoke, causing some laughs from the survivors including herself.

"Was I really that bad?" asked Springtrap.

"I mean, what did we do?"

"Okay..." The host chose to address Foxy first. "Foxy, why do you think you don't belong on this tribe?"

"Alright,... maybe it does make sense to why I'm more of a villain, but after tribal lines became blurred in my season, my alliance ended up being the one on the bottom, and I was the very last one to survive from that. Isn't that what an underdog is?"

"You're right. You were an underdog." Master Hand had to agree. But... "...However, you cut your main ally in the process causing him to accidentally be voted out. That's not a heroic move at all."

"I was basically the last of my alliance, too." Springy raised his hand again. "Am I on here for..."

"For the way you were handling yourself while on your bottom. More specifically, the way you tried to manipulate and guilt-trip Val into working with you just so that you can save yourself is not a heroic move, either." Foxy was shown during his explanation, but he made no visible reaction to that. "You were a quiet villain, Springtrap, but you were still a villain in your season."

"Alright. I'll take it..." He nodded with a smirk. Fun fact, though. He said 'basically' for a reason. Technically, Vector would have been considered to be the last of Springtrap's alliance, considering that he voted with him at the K. Rool Tribal Council, but he later defected thanks to Ken wanting to continue to work with him.

"And Sheik, as for you," The big man behind Survivor pointed. "you were involved in one of our most controversial Tribal Councils ever. You blackmailed Marth into flipping to your alliance, causing another player to be voted out. And all the while, and I am guilty of this as well, you misunderstood how the advantages worked and the fact that you got your way rubbed some fans from home the wrong way, because they feel like Freddy was unfairly robbed."

Ignoring the laughs and snickers, Sheik actually still questioned him. "What about me trying to save my alliance? Wouldn't that be a heroic move in peoples' eyes?"

"Yes, it was. ...But the way you threatened to literally vote game winner, Marth, out of Survivor if he didn't agree to flip over to your side was not a heroine move to make in the eyes of most people."

At least everyone agreed that Ridley blackmailing Meta Knight into working with him was definitely not heroic in any way, shape, or form.

"Shovel Knight, you were not only on Sheik's season, you were one of Sheik's closest allies." Master Hand decided to use him to back up his argument. "Do you agree that what Sheik did at the time was rather villainous?"

All eyes were on him.

"You know, as a game move, I respect Sheik for what she did, because it was our alliance that was in trouble at that point. It was certainly a bold move to save our backs. However, I can not deny at all of what she did was villainous. I mean, you said it best, master. She threatened to vote Marth out if he did not rejoin our alliance."

Point blank and the period.

"Aw, Shovel. Come on..." Impa's student had no allies to back her up at that point. Pun intended.

"So Sonic, what is your overall opinion on a season like this?" The hand chose the hedgehog on purpose. "You went from being the first ever winner of our show, to now returning for this season to compete with not only people who have played with you before, but with fifteen people that have played after you."

"It really is an honor having the title of this show's first winner." Mobius's hero found it to be rather humbling. "I was lucky enough to be one of the first twenty players to ever be on, and my main goal was to have fun out there and try to win. And sure enough, I did just that. Didn't expect this much to come as a result. After my season finished, I decided to continue watching to see what was going to become of this show. And I gotta say. This whole thing is getting more and more intense as each season airs. Yet people, other heroes still look up to me, as well as my folks from home. It's really such an honor to be a part of this."

By the way, for those who might have forgotten, Sonic did not just win the million dollars. He also won the Fan Favorite award earning an extra hundred thousand dollars. Winner and a fan favorite? Television was all over the blue blur. People who did not even watch Survivor were probably aware of Sonic being the first ever winner from it, mainly since the first season in general was the most watched season.

Now regarding critical acclaim, that belonged to Emperors vs Knights as being the most praised season. Yet that was a topic in itself.

"Springtrap, you come from the latest season of Survivor and you made it pretty far. In your own words, how do you think the game is progressing?"

"Well, the saying is that this game gets more and more complicated. And since this season is going to have twenty people that have played the game before, already knowing what it's like inside and out, things might just get a little more juicy out here. And since literally ninety percent of us haven't won, people are willing to right all their wrongs and do whatever it takes to win this time. All in all,... I think season five is going to take things up a notch."

"Well now that you are all here, I suppose we get started with this adventure yet again. ...Let us get a challenge going right off the bat to see which team would have an early advantage."

Once again, cheers and claps were sounded. They were all ready to get it on.

"This challenge will be for a reward. Here's how it's going to work." If one never paid attention to how the Survivor challenges work if he or she was watching from home, the Survivor Dream Team were usually the ones shown performing the challenge first as a visual guide to how the challenge was going to be completed. All just so that the viewer had a better understanding. Since this was the Smash version of Survivor, the Dream Team were nothing but Miis. "For today's challenge, you guys are gonna race out to retrieve a ring. You will then race back with the ring while members of the other team will try to stop you by attempting to bring it to their ring in any way they can. In order to score a point, one hand must be touching both the ring and the flagpole at the same time. First team to three wins reward. Wanna know what you're playing for?"

Better be something good.

"...Fire in the form of flint."

Simple, yet still well worth the applause from the castaways.

"Perfect reward to get your journey started. Nothing can be accomplished without making fire. You have all done this before." Master Hand reminded. "Without fire, you would be unable to boil water and cook food, which could result in your team having no energy to compete in future challenges. And it starts with this right here."

He held it up for the whole universe to see.

"I know that you know that it is worth playing for." Damn. He really needed to rub it in that the group of castaways he was dealing with were All Star players and that they knew better. "One more thing to note. Because this is a returning player season, these challenges are going to be familiar. For this one, Sheik, Foxy, Shovel Knight, Zelda, and Shadow have all competed in this challenge. Zelda and Shadow's team won, Foxy, Sheik, and Shovel's team lost. Let's see how this will turn out. I'm going to give you all a minute to form your matchups and we'll get started."

Everyone's favorite pirate captain in Foxy got his first confessional. "If this season's challenges are gonna be based off of previous challenges, it's gonna give certain people an advantage. And I was lucky enough to have this first challenge be from my season. My team didn't really win that challenge, but I was a factor of the Knights tribe almost winning. So I still have the advantage here. And me and Shadow are on the same team this season, and he was also brutal in the water. And then I have Bowser and Ridley, two of the strongest physical players here, and Ryu is literally a martial artist... So in my mind I figured that the odds were sort of in our favor here. I thought to myself that if my team wins the very first challenge of this season, the Heroes egos were gonna get smashed on day one. Who wouldn't want that on my side?"

Okay, Foxy. Most Survivor fans likely thought that if any team had egos, it was the Villains team.

#WaterSlaughter

"Alright, here we go. We have our first matchup!"

The first four contestants were ready to compete as they all marched into the water before grabbing onto their pole representing their teams. Their fellow castaways on the sand were already cheering them on.

"We have Mario and Zelda for the Heroes taking on Sheik and Foxy for the Villains!" Master Hand announced.

"Ready to kick some ass?" Foxy whispered to Sheik.

"I'm a ninja. I'm ready for anything."

"It is our first challenge of Survivor - Heroes vs Villains. We are playing to three!" The master raised his hand in the air. "Survivors ready?"

...

"...GO!"

This was it! The game was officially starting.

"Let's go, Heroes!"

"Give 'em hell, Villains!"

The four competitors were seen swimming out in the ocean, with one ring hanging onto another pole in the distance. And to make it more... 'appealing', it was painted a little in four different places representing the tribe colors.

Yet all of a sudden, Foxy Michaels stopped swimming and simply waited. Sheik was proving to be the fastest swimmer of the four including himself. Thus, he decided to let Sheik go and retrieve the ring.

"Everyone going after the ring except Foxy..."

And Sheik was in fact the one to grab the ring.

"Toss it to me!"

She did just that. Yet unfortunately, it was not far enough for Foxy to reach it. The downside to it was Mario now actually being closer to the ring in order for him to grab it. And upon doing so, Foxy's immediate response was to get physical. He wasted no time grabbing the ring before Mario even had the chance to take off.

Zelda seeing the struggle knew she had to defend Mario and got into the action herself.

"All the pressure on these four to score the first point for their team. We're gonna have a battle right out of the gate!"

Sheik nimbly swam to the other survivors to grab the ring.

"Foxy trying to push Mario off!"

"Mario, fight back!"

"Sheik, hold on!

The Sheikah was getting ready to help Foxy push Mario off the ring to lose his grip, yet Zelda got right in the way to prevent it from happening by grabbing her arms. Unfortunately, since... 'her alter ego' was stronger than her, Zelda ended up being tossed to the side.

"Both the men and the women are getting aggressive with each other!"

"Let them fight and just swim to the ring!" Bowser shouted at the pirate.

Sheik actually decided to continue to hold Zelda back, keeping one eye on her teammate swim his way over to his pole. For her, hopefully Mario was not too much of a problem to deal with. In the games, Mario did get physical when he needed to... Wait a minute, he was literally a Smasher!

Perhaps the issue was that Foxy had a bit of a height advantage and naturally stronger than the plumber. Nonetheless, Mario tried his hardest to put up a fight. And he did not make it seem like a cakewalk for Foxy, attempting at his hardest to force his off the ring. Yet in the end, the captain prevailed, him almost throwing himself to grab his pole.

"Foxy scores the first point for the villains!"

The rest of the villains made as much noise as possible to celebrate, as if they were all in the arena watching a wrestling match... Though it was basically the case, with only the ring everyone had to be concerned and the fact they were in water. Regardless, as of right now this was the closest thing the players got to smashing each other like thirteen of the castaways did in the games.

Mario heaved a quiet sigh under his breath, not letting it get to him too much.

"Alright. Next round..."

And who was up this time?

"It's gonna be Vector and Sonic for the Heroes taking on Wolf and Ryu for the Villains."

Ooh. An opportunity for the two Mobians to interact with each other. And Wolf was going to face off against the man responsible for his elimination in the first season. Was the lupine about to get his revenge, or was the hedgehog going to be too fast for him to handle?

"Villains lead 1-0. ...Survivors ready? ...GO!"

"Let's go, Heroes!"

"Come on, Villains! Keep it up!"

Though Sonic was the fastest castaway of all time in Survivor on land, in the sea, he had to swim. And even the Sonic fans were the first to admit that water was not something he was really fond of. Thus, he was not going to be the best swimmer.

Luckily, Vector was going to save his life, since he was the best swimmer in his season. And by the way everything was looking, a hero was going to get to the ring this time.

"Vector wasting no time getting the ring!"

Yet the two villains were just about to pounce on him knowing he was going to try to toss the ring over to Sonic. Though they were just a tad late. The blue blur successfully caught it, meaning that Ryu and Wolf tackled Vector in the water for no reason. Now they had a bigger problem to deal with.

"Sonic catches the ring. Now the Villains need to stop Sonic from reaching his pole before it's too late!"

"Go ahead I'll hold him off!" Ryu yelled at Wolf, beginning to wrestle (or smash) away with Vector. And knowing his profession, he was thought to do a decent job, so he knew what he was doing. Only thing Vector had going for him was that he was the 'powerhouse' of Team Chaotix regarding Sonic Heroes... No pun intended.

"Ugh!" The crocodile was attempting at his best to fight Ryu off, yet he was now in a hold. Ryu was just too strong.

"Sonic moving as fast as he can with the ring!"

In spite of that, Wolf O'Donnell immediately gripped on the ring with both arms, only a few feet away from the Heroes pole.

"Wolf trying to take the ring away from Sonic!"

"Come right this way, Wolf!"

"Vector, he needs help!" Golden cuffed his hands.

The mercenary did have the advantage over Sonic, due to him being stronger. So it was another Mario-Foxy situation.

Knowing that his teammate was now in trouble, Vector had to think fast. When it seemed to Ryu that his opponent was low on energy, he ended up being splashed right in the face. Vector quickly took advantage of the distraction by escaping, using his feet to splash Ryu some more.

"Here comes Vector!"

"Ryu! Move!" Specter Knight shouted.

"Wolf, watch out!"

Even though he literally saw the croc swimming his way lightning fast, he got bombarded by both him and Sonic, the latter helping the detective toss Wolf off.

"Come on!" Vector yelled, the two Heroes now pulling the ring back over to their side. And with Vector's swimming advantage, the job was a bit easier for both of them.

Ryu unfortunately never made it in time.

"Heroes score their first point!"

Now the blue team was all loud and mighty.

"Great teamwork, guys!" Isabelle cheered, clapping her hands rapidly.

The two Mobians high-fived each other as they made their way out of the water.

"Next round..." said Master Hand. "It is going to be Meta Knight and Isabelle for the Heroes taking on Shadow and Plague Knight for the Villains."

This was going to be interesting, solely because of a certain hero and a certain villain. Both were notoriously known for not being the most physical player who happened to come from the exact same season.

Ooh, perhaps this was an opportunity for Plague Knight, though. Isabelle was part of the reason to why he lost. He himself was the blame, but Isabelle really started his downfall.

"We are tied 1-1, playing to three... Survivors ready? ...GO!"

Now Meta Knight was also a small character, but if anyone paid attention to his season, size clearly was not everything. ...Right, Ridley?

But anyway, Shadow was also a hedgehog from Mobius. And unlike Sonic, he had no problems in the water. Not saying he was the absolute best swimmer, but in comparison to the other three in the water, he was automatically the fastest.

"Meta Knight, Isabelle, and Plague Knight all going for the ring..." Master Hand watched the action unfold. "...Shadow is gonna stay behind and wait..."

It was clearly intentional, so it was an interesting strategy. Shadow must have realized his advantage at that point.

So Meta Knight ended up being the first to the ring instead, making Isabelle come closer to him in order to swim back to the ring together. Plague Knight was still around, yet Meta predicted he was not going to be too much of a nuisance. He was able to catch up to them though and started to pull.

"That's it, Heroes!"

"Heroes are pulling the ring to their pole. But now they have to face Shadow along the way!"

Shadow knew he needed to be on his A game for this one. And knowing how he performed at the challenge from his past season, he was not going to let the Heroes have it easy. ...Oh wait, he did this challenge in his past season. And unlike Foxy, his team actually won!

"..." Meta Knight and Isabelle were sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place. Shadow was right there, and they had to deal with him no matter what. If they tried to swim past, it was not going to work. They could not have simply stopped in the water, because they were already dealing with Plague Knight. If Meta Knight just took on Shadow himself, that left Isabelle along to try to pull the ring over to the Heroes' pole (not the worst idea in the world, but she was probably the one person in the world Plague would probably beat in a physical challenge). And if Meta Knight simply tossed the ring in the air, Shadow was going to immediately go after it and he was likely to get to the ring first.

All four options had consequences.

"..." Alright. So in the end, Meta Knight decided that the best option was to simply charge at Shadow and fight as hard as they could have. Even Shadow knew what the swordsman was going to do, so he chose to act first by throwing him off with one big push.

"Go!" He yelled at Plague, who almost instantly reacted, Shadow wasting no time and helping him pull the ring along for more speed. There was no way Isabelle was going to deal with everything by herself, so Meta quickly got himself together and went to her aid.

Several shouts from both teams were heard from all over as everyone struggled on the ring to pull it in whatever direction they wanted, while moving in the water. Shadow was seen trying rather hard to swim with one arm, using the strength he had to get to the Villains' pole.

"Shadow scores for the Villains!"

His height and his previous season paid off.

"Oh no..." Yoshi began to grow worried. He really did not want to lost the first challenge of All Stars.

Shadow was given a few pats on the back.

"Alright, next round. It is gonna be a big one. We have Donkey Kong and Golden for the Heroes going against Bowser and Ridley for the Villains. Heroes need to score, Villains need to win." The big guys were actually supposed to go in the last round possible, but the heroes decided to put their big guys up first knowing their situation, making the Villains retaliate.

Likely, they figured Specter Knight and Springtrap had a much bigger advantage over Yoshi and Shovel Knight.

"You guys better fight as hard as you can..." mumbled Vector.

"Survivors ready?" Master Hand raised his hand in the air one more time.

Production chose to let the moment play out in slow-motion as the faces of the four challengers were shown one after each other, glaring as if it was a weapon to actually kill somebody with.

"...GO!"

Did not needed to tell those guy twice. There was a big uproar coming from the other sixteen other players, all watching the four alpha men speedily swimming through, with Ridley being the superior swimmer by comparison.

And no one was staying back this time. Everyone was going to be all fighting over one ring like wild dogs fighting for the last piece of meat.

"This is gonna be a battle to watch!"

If someone chose to take a bathroom break at the time, it was the worst decision they made in their entire life. Who would not have wanted to observe a match like this?

But anyway, Ridley being the fastest grabbed the ring. Though he had to put up with Donkey Kong who was the second fastest, and he did not have enough time to do something with Bowser.

"DK immediately being aggressive with Ridley!"

"That's it, DK!"

The ape knew how physical Ridley was in his season, so of course he was going to be the main problem. And then the fact that Bowser was his ally for that round of the challenge? It was a tall order for Kong and Golden to pull it off for the Heroes.

But they needed to score. This was the first challenge of Heroes vs Villains.

"Bowser help Ridley get him off!" Foxy barked.

Easier said than done. Golden decided to be a nuisance since Bowser was the one with the ring, so now he was trying to tackle him head on, actually making Bowser lose his grip on the ring.

And Ridley was already barely holding onto it thanks to Donkey Kong, letting Golden slip by and quickly snatching the ring away.

"Golden now has the ring for the Heroes!"

"Hurry up and swim back!" yelled Vector.

Ridley, now being generally irritated and tired of the big banana eater, was still wrestling with DK. So he responded by using a bit of built-up strength to actually flip Donkey Kong over and force him into the water.

"Bowser, go!" The dragon barked.

Already on it. Koopa actually did not need too much time to catch up with Golden to grab the ring once more.

"Bowser now has the ring! Here comes Ridley and Donkey Kong!"

And knowing Kong was behind him, Ridley instantly turned around to use his hand to splash quite a bit of water in his face just to annoy him.

Plague Knight literally laughed out loud at that. It was such fun to him seeing his opponents suffer.

Now Donkey Kong was pissed off right back at Ridley. He was not going to take that well at all. But hey, this was smashing at its finest. If this was actually Super Smash Brothers, the fans would have been all for it. Heavyweights fighting were a must watch.

If only Ganondorf or Dedede from Kodai Island was involved...

"Ridley now has the ring!" Poor Golden. He was actually halfway over to the Hero pole, and now he had to somehow fight off with Bowser and Ridley who obviously weigh a ton together.

But then out of nowhere, two big, meaty hands were now on Ridley's chest. And the next thing he knew, he was pushed backwards right in the water. That was a lesson right there. Donkey Kong was a gentle giant to his friends, but never piss him off. Like some people say, 'I can get loud, too.'

"Nobody of those four is making this easy!"

With a couple seconds worth a time, DK managed to grab the ring again. His goal was to hopefully slow Bowser down if they still had a shot. As for Ridley at that point, by the time he got himself together, he came to the conclusion that he was wasting too much time fighting Donkey Kong. Just get the damn ring.

So he did, now pulling on the ring with Bowser as hard as they could have.

"Come on, Heroes!"

Ridley used his free arm to move himself faster and faster to get closer to his pole.

"Villains getting closer to the pole!"

Zebestian extended his arm and reached out.

...

"VILLAINS WIN REWARD!"

Cheers, screams,... howling, all sorts of celebration were heard. The Villains officially proved to have the early advantage.

Yet even Ridley got exhausted at times, as he was shown taking slow breaths, he and Bowser taking their time to make their way over.

The Heroes in general were rather disappointed, yet the overall felt DK and Golden attempted at their best. So regardless, they were embraced by them.

"It is alright." Meta Knight told the two of them. "We know how to get fire without flint."

"Ridley, my people from home are gonna love you!" Ryu laughed, realizing the MVP for their team that day, patting the Metroid villain on the back. "That was a good one!"

"So clearly I still have what it takes in this game regarding physical ability." Samus's arch-nemesis stated. "Winning challenges is quite crucial... And I'll be honest. ...It felt rather nice knowing I was the reason my team won the first challenge. Regarding team strategy, you need to make sure your team has the early advantage. It could pretty much be the fuel needed to smoke the Heroes in the competition. So hopefully they are in for a rude awakening so that the Villains can have the upper hand out here."

-/-

"Alright..." Master Hand and the castaways were now all back on the shore. "So Heroes, any thoughts on the Villains winning over you all?"

"I mean if they won, they won." Vector spoke. "Just,... all they are getting is flint."

Sonic snickered as well as some of their other tribemates.

"And you know how they say we've lost the battle but haven't lost the war? Worst case scenario, this could be the only challenge they would win this season."

Not too wrong about that...

"Likewise." Shadow mumbled from the Villains. He was not wrong, either. The Heroes had the possibility of bombing challenges, the Villains had the possibility of bombing challenges, or each team would have lost the same amount of members prior to a swap. That literally happened in season two, so nobody had any reason to be cocky. Nothing was ever certain in Survivor, and everyone should have been well aware of that by now.

Nonetheless, now everybody had the motivation to kick somebody's ass.

"Alright, Villains. Here is your flint, you guys can go back and hopefully have a head start at camp." Master Hand tossed the flint right over to the red team, where Specter Knight successfully caught it in his hand. "Map to your new home."

He actually almost forgot to give it to them, the map landing in Plague Knight's hands.

"Head on out."

And while they were doing so, he turned his way to the blue team.

"Alright, Heroes. Minor setback out of the gate, but it does not mean that you can't win the immunity challenge. I got nothin' for ya but a map to your new home." He tossed it over with a few hands in the air, but the lucky catcher was Mario. "You guys can head on out and start working on shelter."

Okay. It was starting. Folks needed to stay tuned. One of these twenty players was set to win a million dollars on Survivor's very first All Star season.

"Well that did not really go well as we hoped... Damn it, Ridley..." Donkey Kong glanced away for a moment. "But hey, it ain't the end of the world. We're all gonna shake it off and have a good camp life. I know not every story has a happy ending, but if we can bounce back from this quickly, this would look good. Other than that, it really feels good being out here again. The stakes have been raised more than ever before. Hopefully, I'm the one that is going to walk away with the title of Sole Survivor."

(Yeah I'm gonna insert some music bits now like you guys have seen me inserting the main theme of Brawl here. Figured that would be appropriate. Maybe it's time to start a Heroes vs Villains soundtrack.)

Okay, so that's one chapter that about 10k. Longest first chapter of any fic I've ever done...

I hope you guys like the way I'm writing these challenges because I'm never too confident writing them out. Any fan that writes Survivor fics know that the challenges are the absolute hardest to write. But hopefully it was entertaining enough for you all, because Water Slaughter is a fun challenge and I think it replaced the opening S20 challenge in real Survivor (that was also Heroes vs Villains), likely due to the multiple injuries. Meh...

So anyway, your favorite characters are back! Pretend that this premiere episode is 90 minutes, so expect every last character to score at least one confessional by the time this episode is over. Everybody is gonna get their chance to shine and we'll move on from there.

Any questions, comments, and concerns can be included in your reviews. And as always, they help keep me going. You guys keep following, favoriting, and reviewing, I'll keep making. I really didn't expect my series to be at this point, so thanks as always! The schedule for this is gonna one chapter one week, two chapters next week, then one chapter again, and two chapters again after that. So this means next chapter will come NEXT Wednesday and chapter three will come on Saturday/Sunday (haven't decided on the second day yet...)

(One more thing... I forgot to tell you guys that you are open to have your boot order predictions. Should have stated that in the last chapter of the pre-season, so I'm gonna say it now.)
