Chapter 2
Edgy Bonnie!
"Eeeeeeeeeee!" Chica yelled. The young girl was squealing as she ran around the party room, throwing balloons and streamers at random. Bonnie yawned and stretched out his arms, but groaned as he heard the ring of Chica's high-pitched voice. While the other animatronics had slowly grown out of their kiddish voices during the dreaded robot-ghost puberty, Chica's voice had stayed relatively the same.
WHY does she have to be so loud at 6:30 in the morning?! Bonnie wondered angrily. He stopped and took a deep breath. Even before he'd become a robot, he'd always had anger issues, getting into fights at school and sassing his teachers. He took another breath. One...two...three...four. He counted his calm breaths and felt calm spread down to the tips of his fingers as he strolled calmly out the door.
"Oops!" Mangle yelped as she crashed into Bonnie. Bonnie's fur fluffed up instinctively and he hastily flattened it. The one-eyed fox-girl leaned down and picked up her lipstick that she'd dropped. Like Freddy, Mangle had an old-timey sense of fashion. She was wearing a poofy white-and-pink dress with suspenders and lots of lace that went well with her bright white shaggy hair and one yellow eye. Paired with bright red lipstick and blush and a hot pink bucket hat, Mangle looked sensational.
"Sorry, Bonnie dear. I didn't see ya there," Mangle barked.
"S'okay. Just...watch where you're going." Bonnie muttered. Mangle raised one eyebrow.
"Is something up? You don't have to lie, darling, I'll listen." Mangle said in her usual silky drawl. Bonnie shifted his weight from foot to foot. He didn't really want to explain it again, so he just brushed her aside.
"I'm fine," he told her, and went to confront Chica, who was currently singing Walking with the Ghost and dancing seductively with a broom. But just as Bonnie was about to confront Chica about her practicing her terrible singing skills at 6:30 in the morning, Foxy beat him to it.
"Oi! Scurvy sea bird! What be you doing, at 6:30 in the morning?!" Foxy yelled at Chica, who seemed oblivious to Mangle, Bonnie, Foxy, and now even Freddy glaring at her with malicious intent.
"No matter which way you go! No matter which way you stay! You're out of my mind, out of my mind. Out of my mind, out of my mind. I was walking with the ghost! I said please, please don't insist! I was-" Mangle leaned up to Chica and slapped her hand across her mouth.
"No more. Please." She told Chica. The smaller girl glared at the fox-ghost, her cheeks flaming.
"I told you not to insist!" She yelled at her.
Bonnie fought the urge to laugh at his friend's stupid joke.
"What Maggie means is, why are you so bright and chipper this morning?" Freddy asked Chica. She grinned.
"Well, let's just say that a certain night guard is coming here today!" Chica didn't even try to disguise the glee in her voice.
Freddy groaned. "Please don't tell me you're making the place look good for Ruby," he muttered.
"I'm making the place look good for Ruby." Chica finished with a twinge of sass in her reply.
"Well, I suppose things are going to get real steamy when you're, y'know, trying to rip her throat out tonight," Mangle said sarcastically. Chica rolled her eyes.
"Please, spare me. Can't a girl dream?" She pleaded. Foxy looked like he wanted to object, but Bonnie laughed.
"Let the girl have her fantasies. In the meantime though, we should be getting ready. What songs are we playing?" Bonnie asked. Freddy walked over to a table and took out his notepad that he always kept with him.
"Well, I was thinking Wannabe by Spice Girls and then maybe Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Hastly," Freddy suggested. Bonnie nodded.
"Sounds good. Let's do it!"
The five teens shifted into their animatronic bodies and took their places, ready for a day of work.

The door jingled and a tall, crimson-haired young woman walked in. Chica noticed Foxy staring at something and she followed his gaze to the girl. She walked over to him and punched him hard in the shoulder.
"Uh, rude much?! What if she's watching?" She yelled.
Foxy shook himself. "Sorry, lass. It's just, well...female! Pretty woman!"
Chica just rolled her eyes and walked away. When it came to cute girls, Foxy was a hopeless romantic. Chica was as well, but at least she had the decency to not stare.
Freddy noticed her and walked over to Chica. He handed her a drink of fruit punch, a favourite of hers, which she took and drank awkwardly.
"So, I see he's seen Ruby." Freddy said casually.
Chica spat out her punch. "That's Ruby? As in, the Ruby who's our night guard tonight? Bro, she's gonna be so easy to kill!" Chica sputtered. She wasn't one to judge people by fist glance, but come on! She was dressed in reds and pinks like it was Valentine's Day with long hair that'd be so easy to tug her around by! How could she, of all people, be a match for six well-trained lethal robot killers?
Freddy shrugged and walked onstage where Bonnie was to speak into the microphone.
"This next song is called 'Wannabe.' It's by the Spice Girls." Freddy said from onstage. Chica squealed, she loved this song. It would be funny hearing Freddy sing a song that was so sassy and girly. Chica ran onstage as fast as she could and sat down at the drums, her favourite instrument. She stomped on the kickstand.
One, two, three, four!
"So tell me what you want, what you really really want!" Freddy sang. He leaned over to Foxy and threw the microphone to him. Foxy caught it in surprise.
"I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want!" He sang, his accent somehow making the lyrics sound even better. He even shook his hips a little and threw in some dance moves, which she gave him an exaggerated eye-roll for. The little kids at the pizzeria clapped and cheered happily, loving the song and the dancing.
Foxy tossed it to Bonnie next, who almost dropped it. Chica was surprised that he'd chosen Bonnie. Bonnie never sang, and he was kind of shy, though he'd never admit it to anyone. But, to Chica's surprise, Bonnie put his awesome guitar down and picked the microphone up.
"I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna," Bonnie sang. Even though it was the same two words the whole song, his voice sounded great. Then the microphone was being thrown her way. Chica grabbed it despite her clumsy bird hands.
"I really really really wanna zigazig ah!" She sang with a little twirl. She tossed the microphone back to Freddy and he continued the song.
As Chica beat the drums, she had the oddest sensation that she was being watched. She scanned the room for potential watchers, and saw none other than Ruby Roxanne watching her with her hazel eyes sparkling. Ruby caught Chica looking back at her and she winked cheekily.
Chica blushed happily. Yep, this day was gonna be awesome!

That night...
"Kay, so that's the plan. And I expect everyone to stick to the plan, you got it?" Freddy asked the group menacingly. Everyone nodded, and they waited in their positions for Ruby.
It didn't take long before they heard the snapping of gum being popped. Bonnie tilted his head to the side. From the way Chica had described her that morning, he'd expected Ruby to be more of a soft little girl than the kind of girl who snapped gum, but that was fine, bubble gum couldn't save her from his sharp, dangerous teeth.
The clock struck midnight and Bonnie shifted into robot form. Almost immediately, a voice urged in his head, Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. He let out a low and menacing snarl and started to make his way down the hallway, slowly as he could so he could savour the rare moment before a kill.
He could see Freddy humming to himself as he skipped down the hallway. Most night guards found Freddy's hums to be terrifying, but to Bonnie's surprise, he heard Ruby yell,
"Put a sock in it, you overweight teddy bear! And you too, ya soft bunny rabbit!" Ruby's choice of words were insulting but her tone was surprisingly affectionate. Almost like…
She was teasing them.
The realization hit him cold and hard. She wasn't scared. She thought she'd survive the night with ease. His senses heightened and he could feel power surge through his wires. He let out a small roar, and he was about to spring on Little Miss Sass, Ruby, and show her the amount of damage a soft bunny rabbit could inflict on her, when Foxy started to charge down the hall towards Ruby at his absolute top full speed. Clearly, Ruby hadn't been using her flashlight as instructed.
Bonnie growled. He wasn't about to let Foxy get away with another kill this time. Bonnie picked up the pace and ran down the hall, adrenaline boosting his speed. He caught up to Foxy with ease. He was about to beat him when…
"Freeze, animals!"
Ruby was holding a gun at them. A glock, to be more specific.
It was hard to wrap his head around. Then he realized Foxy was about to do his signature move of swinging right in front of her before proceeding to rip his enemy into shreds.
Bonnie barely had enough time to yell, "Look out!" Before Ruby pulled the trigger and fired.
"Ack!" Foxy yelped. The fox barely dodged the bullet that came speeding into the wall behind him. Ruby loaded another few bullets and turned the gun to her desk.
"I'd advise anyone who's in there to get out of the vents. And step out of the shadows, Freddy-Teddy and Miss Chicken. And Spider-Fox-stop hovering about me or I'll blow your animatronic guts out."
Mangle yelped and fell off the ceiling with a loud crash. She landed on the floor, looking sheepish.
The six animatronics stepped out of their hiding places and we're now staring at Ruby in shock. Who was this girl who wasn't afraid to threaten trained killers? Ruby tucked her gun in her pocket and checked her watch.
"Oh look, it's 6am already. I hate to leave, but duty calls. It's been lovely trying to murder y'all!" She blew Chica a kiss and winked at her.
"Call me," she whispered, and she was gone. Chica looked like she was about to die from happiness, or cheek redness. But Freddy and Bonnie seemed to be thinking the same thing, for they said it at the exact same time.
"What just happened?!"
•••
Bonnie was sitting in his usual hallway. He'd shifted back into human form a while ago, and now he was just thinking. About anything, really. Mostly about Ruby Roxanne. He still found it so incredibly bizarre how she'd managed to terrify Foxy, seduce Chica, and confuse everyone else, all in the span of six hours that felt like six seconds.
Freddy seemed to notice him and he settled down beside him. Bonnie turned to face him.
"You just can't help but keep me company, eh?" He laughed. Freddy laughed as well.
"Yeah, I guess not."
The two ghosts sat in silence for a moment, then Freddy broke it by saying,
"That was weird, wasn't it?"
Bonnie snorted. "Tell me about it. And now both Chica and Foxy are going all ga-ga for Little Miss Spitfire."
"Well, what can you do. We hardly have any outside contact, I guess we should be thankful that they've found someone else to occupy their brain space."
"If they even had any." Bonnie gestured to Pirate's Cove, where Foxy was scream-singing ancient sea shanties at the top of his lungs. The two looked at each other and burst into laughter.
"Okay, okay. I should probably get going." Freddy sighed, brushing the dust off his pants and helping Bonnie up from the floor.
"Aww. Does Fweddy need his beauty sleep?" Bonnie asked, pouting. Freddy rolled his eyes and gave him a playful swat on the shoulder.
"Bye, Bon Bon," Freddy called as he turned to walk away.
Bonnie tilted his head to one side. "Is this some kind of weird goodbye ritual we've started?"
"No, but it could be, Bon Bon."
"Eughh. Stop calling me that. Goodnight!"
"Goodnight!"
"How come he gets to call you Bon Bon?!" Chica whined from the right hallway. Bonnie normally would have yelled at her to just shut up and go to sleep, but he was in such a good mood, nothing could spoil it now.
Nothing.
