Chapter 8

Bonnie Watches The News (aka, Spending The With Bonnie)

"Sooooo…"

Bonnie said slowly, not sure why to say. He was sitting at a party table with Freddy and Chica.

They were all just...staring at each other.

It was extremely awkward.

Bonnie yawned, only now realizing how tired he was.

He put his hands on the table like a pillow, slowly drifting asleep to the boring conversation that was happening right next to him. He had better things to dream of anyways…

He was on the top of a mountain, high above the clouds. Bonnie was so close to the fluffy blobs of air, he could just touch them. So that's what he did, somehow he managed to grab a soft tuft of clouds, soft and sticky like cotton candy. He had the impulse to put it in his mouth and eat it, and when he did, he had the strangest nostalgic feeling, from long, long ago.

There was another mountain just like his, a few clouds away, but too far away to jump. Bonnie could just make out a silhouette of someone standing there, a girl. She had her back turned to him, so he couldn't see the face.

Bonnie needed to get over to the mountain, he just had to. It was an urge that he couldn't explain, a wanting and a needing to see exactly who the girl was, heck, it was probably the purpose of this whole dream.

He noticed the clouds between them were strategically placed so that if this was a video game, he could jump from cloud to cloud to reach the girl.

It was a long shot, but the best idea he had.

Bonnie to a deep breath…

And jumped.

Somehow, Bonnie didn't sink through the clouds as he thought he might. He just...stood, as if it was normal earth-bound ground. He found it easy to clear the jumps between clouds, he was a bunny after all.

The final jump. Bonnie took a step back, and got a running start on the cloud.

He made the jump easily, landing on the hard rock mountain and scraping his right knee. He rubbed it as pain shot through, but he ignored it and turned to face the girl.

From behind, it was hard to see her features, but he saw that she had the most beautiful hair he'd ever seen on anyone. It was long, almost down to her waist, and silky looking. It was the most gorgeous shade of reddish-orange, with bands of dark and light dappling the wavy locks.

She turned around and saw him, and now Bonnie could pinpoint the details on her face.

The girl had deep, sparkling hazel-brown eyes and a sprinkling of tan freckles dotting her face. She was wearing a plain white T-shirt with a black leather belt and high-waisted acid-washed jean shorts. She smiled at him.

"Recognize me?" She asked him, and the same weird nostalgic feeling washed over him. He'd seen her before, times when he was younger, and he even recognized her from a week ago, but he wasn't quite sure where.

"Yeees. Why exactly?" He asked back. She ignored the question and a picture of Ruby popped up in front of her. Bonnie was about to question the logic of it, but he shrugged it off. Hey, it's his dream, weird things can happen.

"Ruby Roxanne. Ever think it's weird, how when she threatened you with that gun, you didn't kill her even though your programming would have shredded her?" She prodded.

"Or how she saw that dead guy's Remnant? Normal humans can't see Remnant, only animatronics." The girl pressed. Bonnie stared at her.

"Are you suggesting she's an animatronic?" He asked dubiously. The girl sighed.

"I don't know what she is, I just know that there's something not quite right about her. Keep an eye on her, alright?" She asked him, raising one eyebrow. Bonnie nodded, not really planning on it, but he'd say yes for her. She shot him a glare.

"You'd better plan on it. Because I've been watching her, and I can't see into her early years. Three, four, completely blank."

"Wait, so you can see into anyone's and everyone's LIVES?!" He questioned her.

"Yup. By the way, nice job with Freddy. And I wouldn't use Mountain Spring air freshener in your room, it smells like after-shave. Use Pearl Sunbreeze, it smells more natural. And about the-"

Bonnie cut her off.

"Yes yes sounds wonderful will do that." He said absentmindedly. The girl nodded.

"Kay. And you'll think about what I said?" She asked him carefully. Bonnie nodded, seriously this time.

"I will." He said. The girl smiled at him and looked like she was about to say something, when suddenly she slipped and started to teeter off the top of the mountain. She waved her arms wildly, trying to steady herself, but she was already falling too fast and at too much of an angle for that to do much.

Bonnie rushed over and grabbed her by the arm, pulling her up into his own arms.

"Careful, I've got you," He reassured her. The girl grinned and looked up at him, her beautiful long red hair tumbling across her face in messy waves.

"Why thank you," She said to him, brushing the hair out of her eyes, and, noticing that Bonnie's bangs had gotten in his eyes as well, brushed them out of the way. Bonnie turned to the side, letting her go with an expression of annoyance, why was she touching his hair? He tried to change the subject.

"Um, by the way, what's your name?" He asked her, not wanting to continue referring to her as 'The Girl', or 'Her' anymore, because that was getting too repetitive.

She opened her mouth.

"Bonnie!" She exclaimed. Bonnie frowned.

"Uh, that's my name." He corrected her.

"Bonnie!"

There it was again, only the girl hadn't opened her mouth this time, and it certainly wasn't her voice.

"Bonnie! Wake up, sleepyhead. You've been sleeping on the job!"

News Broadcast: Thirty deaths this week, thirteen murders. Is a serial killer on the loose? Listen with Belle Silver to find out more!

Bonnie blinked his eyes open sleepily. He was lying on his squishy warm bed, probably the best bed in the whole pizzeria. Chica was sitting on the bed next to him, watching the news where a spray-tanned, bleached-blond, lady was talking, with teeth straight and white like piano keys and eyes so bright and blue she looked like she was some sort of radioactive alien. She was wearing a black shoulderless dress and a necklace of pearls..

She was standing in front of a green screen, which showed the smoky remains of a house burned down. Belle held up her reporter microphone.

"At the scene of the wreckage at 1340 Ailsburg Drive, a house belonging to a family of four burned down. Jessica Burden and Tom Burden, along with their two-year-old daughter Cher and six-month-old son, Leaf, escaped the fire at 1:35 am last night. However, Tom's friend Axel Silverstein, who was staying with them, didn't escape the fire and perished. The couple is mystified at how the fire started. So I ask you, watchers. Was it a kitchen accident? Or did someone plan this fire? It's up to you to decide. I'm Belle Silver, and this was News at-"

Chica shut the whole TV off.

"I'm sick of the news. How can they twist things like that? Accidents happen, but oh nooo, they have to make it more exciting for the viewers instead of respecting the poor victim's privacy. Someone died, for God's sake, they could show a little more respect or decency."

Chica ranted angrily. Bonnie sat up from the bed. He rubbed his head foggily.

"Er, what happened to me exactly?" Bonnie asked her. Chica turned to him and giggled, her yellow shoulder-length curls bouncing as she did.

"Uh, you fell asleep, so me an' Freddy carried you here. You slept from 4:38 to 6:47 (aka right now), so right through work today!" Chica laughed. Bonnie sat bolt upright.

"Wait, I missed work? Yesssss." He hissed silently, doing a little fist-pump. Chica rolled her bright blue (NOT-FAKE) eyes in annoyance.

"Well, Freddy let it slide this time, but you can't just sleep on the job, bunny boy." Chica warned him. Bonnie nodded and got up from the bed. The bedsprings made a creaky sound as he stood up. Bonnie glanced at Chica.

"Uh, can you watch tv in your room?" He asked her pointedly. Chica blushed in embarrassment.

"Whoops, sorry!"

Chica squeezed past him and ran down the hall and to the side with speed like a cheetah who'd just drunken eighty Sprites. Bonnie laughed and shook his head. He still had no idea where Chica got her tireless energy and infinite optimism, but it was always nice to have them around.

Suddenly, there was a jingling sound. Bonnie stood up, the bedsprings creaking. He walked out of the room and down the hallway to see Ruby and Chica laughing whilst digging into a huge (shared, Bonnie noted) slice of...carrot cake!

"AHHH CARROT CAKE GIVE ME SOMEEE." Bonnie screeched as he slid into the party room. He quickly grabbed their handy sharp kitchen knife that they always kept available and cut a nice generous (okay, humongous.) slice of carrot cake topper with a mound of sweet, sticky, ooey gooey cream cheese icing. Bonnie didn't even bother with utensils, he just picked it up with his hands, ignoring the viruses and popped a chunk into his mouth. The carrot, the icing, the bread-like texture- it all worked together to create Bonnie's favourite dish. Ruby rolled her dark hazel eyes at him.

"Such a bunny, yet such a boy." She sighed, shaking her head in mock disappointment. Chica laughed.

"Why are boys so...?" She trailed off, "you know?" Chica asked Ruby, as if anyone was supposed to know what shemeant. Ruby just shrugged and helped herself to another bite of her delicious carrot cake, using a fork to cut it.

"So, how was last night's nightshift? I know you guys missed me and all." Ruby teased.

"Boring. Better than normal though." Bonnie laughed, then realized. "No offense.'"

Ruby raised her dark eyebrows.

"What's a normal night shift then?" She asked, forking another bite of carrot cake into her mouth and chewing it quickly in case she needed her mouth to talk.

"Oh, you know. Night guard arrives, we stalk them and try to kill them, they try to survive five nights, we kill them before that happens." Bonnie listed. Chica coughed into her elbow (safety first) importantly.

"Ahem. Remember Mike?" She asked him. Bonnie laughed uncomfortably.

"Mike! Right! Ahahahaha, that guy, surviving five nights, so funny.' He laughed. Ruby nodded slowly.

"Riiight. So why exactly do you guys want to kill the night guards?" She asked them. Bonnie stood up, pushing his folding chair away with a long screeching sound.

"Well, this is awfully nosy of you, isn't it? I don't see me or Chica drilling you about all these personal questions?" Bonnie said pointedly.

Ruby frowned. "But I-"

"Anyways, it looks like it's time for you to go. See you tomorrow!" Bonnie trilled, shoving her away from the table.

Ruby huffed in annoyance, but she knew that she was going to have to leave now anyways. She tugged her worn leather jacket on and waved to them as she hoisted her checkered backpack over her shoulder.

"Bye Rubyyyy!" Chica called to her friend, bouncing up and down and waving frantically, so fast that her hands were nothing but a big long blur.

Well. That was a close one. Bonnie thought, relief flooding through his body.

Then he noticed that Ruby had forgotten something on the party table.

Something...orangeish brown.

Crumbly.

With cream cheese icing on the top.

Bonnie ran to the carrot cake, grabbed a fork and knife, and began to devour it faster than anyone has ever before.
