Doc: "Everything seems normal for you, although it seems that using that ability called hyper potential is too exhausting for your body" I said after analyzing it and doing some tests
Jin: "It's nothing I can't handle" I said
Doc: "I wish it were like that, but your body wears out quickly when using it" I said
Jin: "I just have to get used to using it, I know my body will adapt" I said quickly
Doc: "For your sake, I hope so, although the information you got us is quite valuable" I said excitedly
Jin: "What are you planning now?" asked
Doc: "Once we understand how Humphrey supports that ability, we can start with the next phase of the perfection project" I explained
Jin: "Will you guys give me any enhancements?" asked
Doc: "We will evaluate that, although the creation of a new iteration is not ruled out" I said
Jin: I growled annoyed, "you can never get over me, I'm the perfect being" I said seriously
Doc: I just laughed and said, "There's no such thing as being perfect, you can always improve and believe me I'm looking forward to surpassing what I've already achieved with you"
Jin: "Good luck with that" I said mockingly as I left
Doc: once he left, I called my assistant, "Rookie, come here"
Lind: "Yes sir" I said quickly as I ran up to him
Doc: "Take these samples to my lab, then clean up this mess" I ordered
Lind: "right away sir" I said nodding, then I saw the place and I could see that there were several bloodstains everywhere, "What happened here?" I asked surprised and somewhat horrified
Doc: "Don't worry, they are from experiment 242, I had to do more extensive studies on them than I expected" I said calmly while cleaning the blood from my paws
Lind: "I see" I said trying to hide my disgust, "Don't you think it's cruel to treat him like that?" asked
Doc: "It's just an experiment, it's our duty to do whatever is necessary for progress" I said seriously, "Besides, it's just a wild beast, because you think it needed a new assistant" I said a little calmer
Lind: "What happened?" I asked a little scared
Doc: "We don't know exactly, but it was so bad that we couldn't even identify the remains" I explained
Lind: I swallowed scared and said, "I understand"
Doc: "Well you already have your instructions; I have to continue with my investigation" I said seriously
Lind: "Yes sir" I said nodding
Several hours later with Kate
Kate: We had decided to spend the night here so that the wounded wolf would have enough strength to endure the return trip and while everyone was sleeping, I couldn't get to sleep, my head was full of thoughts, so I decided to carefully get up and walk to the entrance of the cave
Light: "Are those thoughts still tormenting you?" asked
Kate: "You live in my head; you should know that" I said tiredly
Light: "You know I don't get into their minds unless the situation warrants it" I said calmly
Kate: "Sorry, I'm just tired, it's just that damn feeling and thoughts that don't leave me alone, it's more I feel that it has even increased" I explained
Light: "It's very strange, from what I was able to review those feelings they seem not to be yours" I said
Kate: "What do you mean?" asked
Light: "Since we spoke this morning, I began to investigate and I was able to detect a strange type of magic surrounding you," I explained
Kate: "Magic, like the one Scott and Everyone uses?" asked
Light: "It's something different, it looks more like Humphrey's," I explained
Kate: "Humphrey? But he doesn't use magic" I said confused
Light: "It's not entirely true, his abilities are magical faculties, it's just that it's a type of family magic, which can't be learned, it's only inherited and, in many cases, it's used unconsciously, in his case he's conscious that you must activate it, either as the maximum potential or the hyper potential" I explained
Kate: "So this is Humphrey's fault?" I asked surprised
Light: "It's not his fault, this magic, despite being similar to his, is not the same, if I had to guess, it may have been caused by that strange wolf that appeared" I explained
Kate: "One more relationship of that wolf with Humphrey" I said with a sigh
Light: "I can't contradict that, obviously both are related in some way, but it may be different from what you think" I said
Kate: I shook my head and said, "you're right, I shouldn't mistrust Humphrey", then asked, "How can I get rid of the effect of that magic?" I asked a little desperate
Light: "I still don't know that; I would have to study that magic a bit and if possible, see it in action" I explained
Kate: "I see" I said with a sigh
Light: "We should tell Humphrey, maybe with his help and that of Toocs and Scoot, we can find a solution" I said
Kate: I shook my head and said seriously, "Don't even think about telling him anything, he's going through too much already, I don't want to worry him anymore"
Light: "Are you sure? I don't think it's good to hide this from him, from what I see the effect is getting more and more extensive" I said worried
Kate: "I'm sure, I know I can fight this magic while we find a solution on our own" I said, nodding
Light: "If you say so" I said a little unsure, "I hope it's not part of the effect of that magic" I thought worried
Kate: "Let me know as soon as you find something to remove this effect" I said
Light: "Of course," I said
Kate: "Thank you, I'll try to get some sleep" I said a bit tired
Light: "Maybe I can help you" I said
Kate: "Really?" asked
Light: "I can make you sleepy, it will be like fainting, but at least that way you can rest" I explained
Kate: "It's better than nothing" I said, "please do it" I asked
Light: "Make yourself comfortable and I'll do it" I said
Kate: I nodded and settled next to Humphrey, after a while I felt like everything was spinning and I became unconscious shortly after
The next day Humphrey had risen early and organized the hunting parties, when he returned with breakfast, he was surprised to see that Kate was still asleep
Humphrey: "Yes, she must be exhausted" I thought surprised, I carefully approached her and started to wake her up, "Love, it's time to wake up" I said affectionately
Kate: "What's up?" I asked a little sleepily
Humphrey: "It's time to wake up, I brought breakfast" I said
Kate: "oh I see" I said while shaking myself to wake up
Humphrey: "Are you okay?" asked
Kate: "Of course, why do you ask?" I said quickly
Humphrey: "I don't know, you feel a little strange" I said a little worried
Kate: "It's nothing important, I just had a hard time falling asleep" I explained
Humphrey: "I see, but if there's something you want to talk about, you know you can tell me" I said with a tender smile
Kate: "Of course I know" I said smiling
Humphrey: "Let's wake up the puppies and have breakfast, I already talked to Sally, it seems that the wolf is much more stable and if we can start our return today" I said
Kate: "I understand" I said nodding
Humphrey: After a few hours we were all starting our way back, although this whole situation was very difficult, I felt calm at being able to properly say goodbye to my father
Andrea: I go over to my cousin to give him the alpha elite report, "Humphrey, do you have a moment?" asked
Humphrey: I nodded and said, "Sure, what's up?"
Andrea: "I just came to inform you that the alpha elite have already finished doing an initial exploration and they did not find any trace of that strange wolf or another wolf in the vicinity" I informed
Humphrey: "I can imagine, he just wanted to see how far he could go, surely he won't come back until he's recovered" I said
Andrea: "If I were a little smarter, I would never come back" I said
Humphrey: "I highly doubt that's the case," I said seriously
Andrea: "Why do you say that?" I asked curious
Humphrey: "I could tell when we fought, in his look and way of speaking, he wants to prove something at any cost, surely show that he can be as strong as me, if not more" I said seriously
Andrea: "I understand, I thought we would finally leave all this behind" I said with a sigh
Humphrey: "I know" I said nodding
Andrea: "So will the Dark thing be repeated?" I asked worried
Humphrey: "I'm not sure, he could potentially be just as dangerous, if not more, but unlike Darkness, who just wanted to destroy everything, I couldn't feel that same kind of malice in him," I explained
Andrea: "I know what you're talking about, his aura was quite disturbing, but in a very strange way he felt familiar and without bad intentions" I said, nodding
Humphrey: "I thought you had noticed" I said
Andrea: "So what is the plan?" asked
Humphrey: "Wait" I said calmly
Andrea: "Wait?" I asked confused
Humphrey: "It will be impossible to locate him, he knows how to hide his tracks so well that not even I have been able to locate him and divide our alphas to look for him, it would only make them exposed to his attack" I explained
Andrea: "I understand that, but what if he comes back with reinforcements?"
Humphrey: "He won't use them, he just wants to show that he's equal to or better than me, but he will do it in a fair battle, otherwise he would have used his reinforcements before" I said
Andrea: "If you say so" I said a little worried
Humphrey: "In any case, we will put the alphas on alert and reinforce security, I will be very attentive to any sighting of that wolf" I said
Andrea: "it seems the most prudent thing to do" I said, nodding
Humphrey: "Anything else?" asked
Andrea: I shook my head and said, "No, that's it"
Humphrey: "Okay, we'll talk later" I said
Andrea: I nodded and withdrew
Humphrey: I turned my attention to the road and I could see how the puppies ran in front of us while Kate watched them, "When can I give them a life without danger" I thought while sighing
After a long day, everyone was arriving at the main territory of the united packs
Kate: "We finally arrived" I said with a sigh of relief
Humphrey: "Luckily the road was calm" I said
Kate: "It's true" I said nodding
Humphrey: "I'm going to help take the injured wolf to the healers' cave and organize the surveillance patrols, could you go with Garth and Lilly to inform them of the situation?" I asked
Kate: "Sure, although I'm surprised you don't want to inform them yourself" I said somewhat surprised
Humphrey: "The truth is that I don't want to deal with Garth at the moment, there are other more important things to deal with," I explained
Kate: I sighed and said, "I understand you, there couldn't have been a worse time for me to have that lack of confidence"
Humphrey: "Not even say it" I said nodding
Kate: "Okay, see you later in our cave" I said, then I turned to the puppies and asked them "What do you guys' plan to do?"
Tristán: "I'm thinking of going to rest for a while, I'm tired from the trip" I said
Hope: "So do I," I said
Silver: "How boring, it's still early, we can go with our friends and play for a while" I said
Star: "Our brother is right" I said
Kate: "Okay, leave them alone, if they want to go rest, they can, you can go play with your friends, but remember that you must be in the cave before nightfall" I said
"Okay mom," said the puppies
Nova: I went up to Katie and asked, "What do you want to do?"
Katie: "Let's play with the others for a while" I said smiling, personally I was a little tired, but I didn't want to be alone in my cave
Nova: "Okay" I said smiling
Humphrey: "See you later" I told Kate affectionately as we shared a quick kiss
Kate: I gladly kissed him back, but at that moment a series of annoying thoughts went through my head, "Who else would he have kissed like that" I thought annoyed and quickly pulled away and shook my head, "Damn thoughts, get out of here." my head" I said to myself
Humphrey: "Is everything okay?" I asked confused and a little worried
Kate: "it's nothing, we better hurry," I said quickly, before running off to my sister's cave
Humphrey: I looked at her strangely as she walked away, "She's acting weird" I said to myself before going to where the injured wolf was
Meanwhile in a place far away from Jasper
"How did the tests come out?" someone seriously asked from the shadows
Doc: "The results were quite promising, his abilities to learn and improve were pushed to the limit and as a result he was able to reach his full potential" I informed them
"Does that mean it's ready?" asked another being from the shadows
Doc: "Not yet, unfortunately his body has not been able to assimilate all that power" I said
"What would that imply?" I ask the first figure
Doc: "If he continues to use all that power, his body will end up being destroyed" I explained to them
"How long can he hold out?" I ask the second figure
Doc: "Our initial estimates indicate that he will not be able to last more than ten minutes in a row using all his power, if he exceeds that time, he will end up destabilizing and will die" I explained to them
"How long will it take you to correct that mistake?" I seriously ask the first figure
Doc: "I'm not really sure, there are secrets hidden in the body of that wolf named Humphrey, which have been especially difficult to decipher, especially without having the original specimen" I said
"We got the body of Darkness, which we create as a copy of his body, should be more than enough" said the second figure seriously
Doc: "That is the precise problem, it is an inferior copy, I have determined that there are attributes that Humphrey has shown, that this copy does not have and that limits me a lot" I explained to them
"What about the other specimens we've collected?" I ask the second figure
Doc: "They were quite useful in the first experiments and to enhance certain abilities of 242 and although I would have wanted to add some of their abilities, this turned out to be impossible, they are simply not compatible with each other, after all they are inferior beings and we only need the best of the best" I said
"We understand, how soon will you have the next improved version?" I ask the first figure
Doc: "With current resources and knowledge, it is possible that it took me years to achieve significant progress" I said something thoughtful
"We don't have that much time; we've already waited enough" said the second figure seriously
"Attacking at this moment is not an alternative either, that Humphrey wolf is still a problem for us, 242 is still not able to defeat him" the first figure said thoughtfully
Doc: "According to the information you have provided me, that wolf has a weakness" I told them
"What are you talking about?" I ask the first figure
Doc: "According to his psychological profile, he is someone who would sacrifice himself for others without hesitation, it is something we can exploit" I explained
"I like the way you think, how do you suggest proceeding?" I ask the second figure
Doc: "Let's send all the functional experiments, with 242 leading them, for that wolf they will only be insects, but for the others they will represent a serious danger and, in his desire, to protect others, he will be careless and 242 will be able to defeat him" I explained
"I didn't want to have to attack that pack, until we have our ultimate weapon, but your plan is solid and if all goes well, we will have the tools to execute the final phase of our plan, but we have to find the right moment to attack, there are three threats in that pack" said the first figure
Doc: "I know, but two of them are not full time in that place and I already took measures for the third one" I said nodding
