As you know, this story takes place a month after the events of Star Fox Assault (and the events of Star Fox Command never happen) Therefore Fox, Falco, Slippy, Peppy, Krystal, Wolf, Leon, James, Andrew and Pepper are the ages they were in that game. In Katt, Bill, Amanda, and Lucy's case are as old as they should have been to have appeared in that game. The ages of the other characters were invented for this story, as they don't have an official age.

Chapter 14

Living in the City

The next day, the entire gang was at the nearby condo building where Star Fox had rented to be staying in. Each room has two big beds for a few people to sleep in every night, a walk-in kitchen by the entrance, a bathroom past the bedroom, a big living room and a balcony with a nice view of the city. Fox and Falco decided to share a room together, room B07, Slippy and Peppy are in room A13, and Krystal's sleeping in her own room, B02.

Fox was laying on the couch at the moment, feeling tired from today. When the group met up with Dash and Fara yesterday he got anxious to finally get a room to stay in during their vacation. The conversation they all had earlier is still fresh in his mind…

Flashback

"It's...been a while, hasn't it?" Fox asked Fara.

"Yeah, it has," she replied. "I never received a text or call from you since you left for space."

Fox rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry about that. I've been busy, saving the Lylat System, shooting down enemy pilots, avenging my father's death from a tyrannical banana-head, that sort of stuff." He turned to Dash for a moment. "No offense to you, though."

"None taken," said the monkey. "I usually get that from some people."

The three of them were giving off a few giggles before Fox turned his eyes away from Fara with a sad look in his eyes. He felt bad for not calling her, but he had to fight Andross for the good of the Lylat System. Fox wanted to make it up to her somehow.

"Say, why don't we catch up?" he asked. "Make up for some lost time for the past years?"

"That's a good idea," she said. "I've been dying to hear about what's been going on at your end."

"Cool," Fox said.

Then, Fox gave introductions for Krystal and Fara in hopes that they'll get along. Krystal was a little pleased to meet her, but she wonders why Fara and Fox's relationship never went well years ago when they're still remaining as good friends. Fara's happy to meet Krystal. This would mean another girl to hang out with when her other friends were busy with their jobs too.

Fox introduced the team to Dash as well, and they already took an immediate liking to him. Even Falco, despite his opinion of Dash sounding a bit like a dork. Dash was super siked to meet them, especially Falco, considering that they're a big deal in the Lylat System. He wanted to make a good impression on them so he tried to be polite.

After the introductions, Fox and his team rented their rooms for their vacation for the month and went out for a coffee reunion with Fara. Fox and Fara seemed glad to see each other again, but he still wants to keep his secret tight lipped. The main reason was because Fara grew up in a noble family and her father, Philippe Phoenix, wasn't fond of homosexuals and would belittle them without any hesitation whatsoever. Thinking that Fara had to be raised by a father like him, Fox was worried that Philippe has been an influence to Fara and she thinks the same way that homophobes do.

When Fox told Dash that the Star Fox internship wasn't intended to be announced, he was feeling disappointed at the reply. Falco grumbled again that his idea was a complete bust and turned away. Although, Fox did say that he could make an exception to allow Dash to join their vacation while he looks for a different job, and the monkey felt overjoyed at that response.

It was time for breakfast and Fox had to eat something. He went to wake Falco up, but when he got back in the bedroom he saw that the bird had thrown the covers off of him, revealing a completely naked ass sticking up in the air. His sentence was cut short when he turned to the rabbit sitting next to him. Memories of their childhood together crossed his mind, he couldn't help but let a tear escape from his eye. In his heart, he feels excited and relieved that he's going to be seeing his sister again in a short time.

When he snapped out of his train of thoughts, he realized he made it to his destination. He was intrigued and awed with the sight of where he's gonna be working. There were several ships that went from one side to another, some leaving and others returning. All those ships were Cornerian Fighters, like the one they gave him so he could travel from Zoness to Corneria two days ago. All the ships were silver, green, and red, which contrasted from his ship as the red actually had purple on it instead. Upon entering the building, Sabre was able to see the soldiers when he walked inside. They were all dogs that resemble Bill for some reason, except they wore different colored uniforms, their ears were different shapes, and their muzzles and noses were different colors too. Good thing he knew Bill, otherwise he would've been confused trying to recognize him among the soldiers. Although if he can't find him in this crowd, he could use telepathy to know which one Bill was.

Now that he thought about it, Sabre saw that all the members of the army were dogs, except for Miyu who was a lynx, a certain Beltino, who he heard was a toad, and now him, being a wolf and fox hybrid. Only General Pepper and Fay were the only dogs here that were different breeds from the other dogs and of each other too. It seems that dogs were the ones that mostly inhabited this planet and attracted his attention. He didn't see any other explanation for that, although he didn't think it mattered because, despite that, there seemed to be no problem with other species finding employment here.

"Well hello, Sabre," said a voice from behind the wolf. "I see that you also decided to arrive before the agreed time too."

Bill was standing behind him wearing his army uniform. "I still like that about you," he continued.

"Oh, hi Bill," Sabre said. "You're right, I was also excited to meet my new place to work at."

"No wonder a lot of the new recruits have been the same as you in that regard. Well, come with me so we can start the tour. I'm sure you will find interesting things around here" said Bill.

The dog and the wolf began to walk around the base together, while Bill told Sabre where they will go first.

Here ends the fourteenth chapter. As additional information, the Cornerian Fighter mentioned that Sabre owns in this story is the same one that Krystal had in Star Fox Command, only that since the events of that game don't occur here, Sabre would end up using that ship here. I hope you liked it.
