INTRODUCTION
A freelance consultant with varied work experience across different fields with a particular set of skills. During my time abroad, I worked with the police and various other law enforcement agencies. Due to the nature of my work, I like to keep an open mind and I try to adapt quickly and learn new things faster. EXPERIENCE
Deception Expert
The Lightman Group February 2022 – Present
The Lightman Group is a private company set up by psychologist Dr. Cal Lightman, the world's leading deception expert. The firm serves as an independent contractor in assisting federal agencies, local police, corporations and private individuals with their most difficult cases, reaching the truth through applied psychology, interpreting micro-expressions and body language in order to tell when a subject is lying. I was handpicked by Dr. Cal Lightman himself and was dubbed a 'Natural'.
Consultant/Assistant
Special Crimes Unit, Portland August 2021 - Jan 2022
Detective Lieutenant Everett Backstrom was the leader of Portland's newly minted Special Crimes Unit and I was hired to work as his assistant. Here, I had my first hand experience with the intricacies of police work. The S.C.U was tasked with navigating the city's most sensitive and serious cases. I have worked on a plethora of high profile cases. Some of the highlights of my career at the S.C.U includes, investigating the staged-suicide of a senator's son, dealing with a serial arsonist, solving the high profile murder at the cult-like Church of Edification, the murder of a transvestite which was earlier construed as a hate crime and finding a missing girl, which lead to tracking down a predator from seven years ago.
Freelance Reporter/Photographer
Juzo News April 2019 - Jun 2021
I have worked part-time, written articles and taken photos for several news outlets and magazines. I have talked about Adolescent Syndrome, Supernatural Oddities, Ghouls and Espers. Among the stories I wrote for numerous publications, The Ginza Incident is extremely important. I was there on ground zero, covering the entire incident on my phone.
EDUCATION

MA in Contemporary History and MA in Criminology
Tokyo University April 2020 – March 2022
In Contemporary History, I focused on key themes in the history of Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East from the late 19th century onwards. Some of the themes I explored in depth were, the emergence of human rights, the impact of the cultural turn and identity politics on the discipline of history, the role of community archives, digital resources and family histories in the creation of 'people's history' and 'public history' and historical explanation for the extraordinary violence that afflicted the world in the first half of the 20th century.
In Criminology, I examined Criminal Laws, Human Behaviour & Criminality, Contemporary Crimes, NGOs Criminal Justice Administration, Vigilance and Security Management, Terrorism, Forensic Science and Psychology of Criminal Behaviour.
Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Science

It is a comprehensive course. I had chosen forensic science as my field of study and along with it I pursued botany, geology and anatomy. I did my specialization in toxicology. My final thesis for the course was on the use of slow acting poisons like ricin and how they could have been used to commit murders as they are fairly easy to overlook during an autopsy.

Story Title: Ikebukuro: A Bohemian Hikigaya's Rhapsody
Complete Full Length Story Summary:
Hachiman Hikigaya is a natural when it comes to interpreting micro-expressions and body language to know when someone is lying. In America, he worked with the Special Crimes Unit and later for The Lightman Group, a private company which assisted federal agencies, local police, corporations and private individuals with their most difficult cases. But after gathering enough experience and learning new skills, Hikigaya comes back home and he is looking for an opportunity in Ikebukuro. Why Ikebukuro? Because there is no other place he would rather be. It's a crazy town, full of strange, supernatural occurrences and some downright crazy, weird people. Hikigaya thinks he will fit just right in.
But it doesn't matter what he thinks, because he still has to apply for a job and sit for one of those dreaded job interviews, dressed in those cheap, lackluster black polyester suits. Thankfully, it's not all that bad. He has a few good references to count on and his past work experience speaks for itself, so he was able to apply for some interesting positions. And luck seemed to be on his side, because he got a quick response and the date for the final interview.
But as it turned out, it was no normal interview, because instead of meeting Izaya Orihara, he was ambushed by Major Motoko Kusanagi from Public Security Section -9, L from The Kira Task Force, Kanra Orihara, Izaya Orihara's twin younger sister and Yukino Yukinoshita, the permanent secretary of Lelouch Laperouge, The Minister of New Affairs.
Needless to say it was an interesting interview and he thought he did quite well. But that was just the beginning. Because Round 2 was about to start and this time Izaya Orihara himself would be taking the interview. The only difference was, instead of asking him a series of questions, Izaya Orihara was gonna make him perform a few simple tasks. So, through a series of calls and texts, Orihara tells Hikigaya what is gonna happen – A man named 'CJ' was gonna break into his hotel room, an assassin called 'Thorn Princess' was gonna try to kill him and he had to catch a serial killer dubbed, 'The American Psycho'.
Good luck, Hikigaya-kun!

Chapter 2: The Eccentric Passenger [I]
Chapter Summary: It's the big day and Hikigaya decides to take a taxi to reach the interview spot. The taxi driver turns out to be a middle aged man named Odokawa. For some reason, Hikigaya decides to chat with him and know what has been going on in Ikebukuro these days…it wasn't the smartest decision he ever made, because Odokawa-san turned out to be an 'acquired taste'. And to make things worse, there is a police barricade up front and the taxi is stopped by a bunch of beat cops. What the hell is going on?

There is Officer Kankichi Ryotsu, whom his fellow colleague, the beautiful and intelligent, Chief Seiko Fuji describe as a 36 year old with the personality of a 12 year old. Then there is Chief Fuji herself, who used to be an ace detective, but she was accused of power harassment by a junior and was transferred to a lowly police box. The only one remotely normal was Officer Mai Kawai, a rookie female cop, who was learning the ropes from Chief Fuji herself. These fine people from the police department are on the lookout for four 'people of interest'. But all they have are pictures. Being a detective consultant of some repute, Hikigaya decides to help them out.

When Odokawa drops him off at the location where the interview is going to take place, Hikigaya takes his contact information and promises to get in touch him if he figures out what is wrong with him and come up with a solution to his problem. Odokawa doesn't have much faith in him, but he gives him his contact info before driving away, without even wishing him good luck on his interview. But Hikigaya doesn't mind and he walks into the café called 'Anteiku' where the interview is gonna take place. But little does he know, that it's gonna be more like an interrogation.

Chapter Summary: The first person Hikigaya meets at Anteiku is a waiter with an eyepatch. He says his name is Ken Kaneki and when Hikigaya inquires about Izaya Orihara, or whether he has made a reservation at this fine café. Kaneki seems uneasy at the mention of Izaya Orihara and informs Hikigaya that you can't really make reservations in 'Anteiku', but exceptions have to be made for some people. Kaneki asks Hikigaya to follow him and he takes him to the upper floor of the café which offers a bit more privacy and is much more favourable to hold a meeting or an interview. Kaneki brings Hikigaya to a booth in the back, but there is only one problem – Izaya Orihara is nowhere to be seen. Instead, he is greeted by four other people. He would later know them as – Major Motoko Kusanagi, Ryuzaki, Kanra Orihara and Yukino Yukinoshita.

Chapter 6: The Interview [II]
Chapter Summary: Out of the four people in the booth, Hikigaya immediately recognizes Kanra Orihara, because being a twin, she looks so much like her brother. From a cursory glance, Hikigaya picks up on a few details. The woman Kanra Orihara keeps referring to as 'Yukino-chan' has a few choice words to say about her and the way she dresses. It doesn't go down well. In fact, Yukino is scathing and extremely harsh on Kanra, so much so, that Kanra picks up a knife from the table. Hikigaya decides to try and de-escalate the situation. He gets rid of the waiter and lies through his teeth, even tries to compliment Kanra. And it actually works. In a way. But Yukino doesn't realize the danger she is in and Ryuzaki further escalates the situation, by calling into attention, Kanra Orihara's habit of sleeping around with men and asks Hikigaya, why she engages in such acts. Hikigaya shrugs him off, saying 'It's her business' and this ends with Kanra Orihara propositioning him – If he works for her, Hikigaya gets to be in a relationship with her.

He does a splendid job, but when he tries to hide some of the details, Ryuzaki tells him that he is taking a risk and whether he gets hired or not depends on how he performs this simple task of deduction. Luckily another waiter, a woman named Touka Kirishima comes in and saves Kaneki from further embarrassment, at having all his deepest, darkest secrets revealed to a bunch of strangers. Hikigaya is more than relieved, and then he decides to show off and use his powers of observation to impress the others in a way which involves Yukinoshita in a small way. The other woman doesn't like it. She doesn't like it at all. Hikigaya didn't realize it then, but he had made a terrible mistake.

Chapter 8: The Interview [IV]

But Hikigaya quickly figures out what is going on and he plays along, addressing Ryuzaki as 'Eru'. This gets the attention of the ladies in the booth and before long the secret is out in the open – Ryuzaki is L, one of the greatest detectives in the entire world and the leader of The Kira Task Force. This was supposed to be a big secret, but L wanted to test Hikigaya and Hikigaya passed the test with no trouble at all. But he hasn't passed Yukinoshita's test yet. And her test begins just as he takes a sip from his glass of iced mocha. Just a small taste is enough for him to figure out what Yukinoshita has done – she has put a few drops of knockoff truth potion into his drink.

Chapter 9: The Interview [V]
Chapter Summary: The real interview begins now and Hikigaya can't lie because he is under the influence of a truth potion. It isn't exactly Veritaserum, but a pale imitation of the original potion. Unfortunately, one of the side effects of the potion is lowered inhibition, so Hikigaya-kun has no filter on his mouth and he calls Yukinoshita a 'bitch', among other colourful things. L starts to question him about his time in the Special Crimes Unit, where he worked under Detective Lieutenant Everett Backstrom and how he shot and killed a criminal in cold blood, because he was gonna kill Lieutenant Backstrom. Major Motoko Kusanagi talked to him about his time in The Lightman Group and the case involving domestic terrorist bombings across Washington DC, after which he earned the dreaded moniker: 'The Monster of Logic'. Kanra Orihara wanted to know more about his time in Kunugigaoka Junior High, being taught to be assassins under Koro-sensei, about his time in Dan Detective School, learning to work with a team of student detectives and his transfer to Advanced Nurturing High School during his final year. Hikigaya had an answer for all of their questions and because of the potion, they knew it was the truth.
