Ronnie R15: They might come into the story later.
Hate57468: I don't know, if you aren't meaning Jakob's siblings who are demigods themselves.
Temsen: He's a twelve-year old, give him a break. Plus, he ain't having a cabin built with nothing entertaining to have inside. He might be a warrior, but he's still a kid.
Disclaimer: I do not own God of War or Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I only own the OC Jakob Thorsson.
"So, brother, what do you intend to do now?" Mimir asked as Jakob walked down a street in New York City, somewhere close to Central Park. The Son of Thor was sure he was in Hell's Kitchen right now, given the angle he could see the Empire State Building.
"Not sure... find a place to lay our heads... figuratively for you." Jakob said, causing Mimir to grunt at that. "I'm just kidding. But no, we find somewhere to sleep and make it our place until the next time we go to Camp Half-Blood."
"It's good to see you finally opening up, Jakob. And acting like your age rather than a hardened warrior who's been through some shit." Mimir said bluntly, making Jakob roll his eyes as he went towards a convenience store. "Plus, some lassies there to be potential girlfriends."
Jakob stopped at that, his cheeks heating up a little before he shook his head. "Don't start."
"What?" Mimir asked innocently. "I'm just saying that Andromeda, Annabeth, Silena, Katie, well the girls you know, they will grow up to be quite beautiful young women."
"Stop talking. Right now." Jakob ordered as he entered the store, intending to buy himself a couple of snacks and drinks as he was quite hungry. It had been a while since he last ate. He gave a nod at the store clerk, a rather small man with a tan complexion, deep chestnut brown eyes, matching with his dark brown hair.
Jakob picked up a basket and started his shopping, grabbing whatever looked tasty and putting it into the basket. He went over to the liquids section and scanned the shelves, humming quietly for anything of interest before he shrugged and took a six-pack of Coca Cola cans. Now that was done, he walked over to the counter and palced the basket on top.
"Ah, fine choices." The clerk said as he started scanning the items while Jakob picked up a pair of dark-shaded sunglasses, contemplating getting them before he shook his head and left them as they reminded him a little of what Ares wore. "For a demigod, you guys love your snacks."
Jakob froze at that and snapped his head up, narrowing his eyes at the clerk who smiled innocently. "What are you talking about?"
Now that he heard it, the clerk's voices sounded way too familiar...
"Oh! Hold on! Gotta cancel the glamour appearance." A few seconds later, the person's appearance changes and now Jakob was looking at a Dwarf with a tan complexion, deep chestnut brown eyes, matching with his dark brown hair, sporting a beard of medium length, with the ends having been wrapped up in some sort of fabric and joining two locks of his beard, which have been tied with thin hemp-twine. He was also wearing golden Dwarven armour.
"Sindri?" Jakob asked in surprise and shock.
"Yep!" Sindri the Dwarf smiled and held his hands out. "Bet you weren't expecting to see me here,, right? To be perfectly honest, I wasn't expecting you to pop into the store... though I did kinda hop I'd see you somewhere in the city, given what I've been seeing and hearing thanks to Brok."
"What are you doing here?" Jakob asked, still stunned but was nevertheless glad to see one of the only two Dwarven friends he had. "I'd never expect you to be in a city like New York... or this close to Olympus."
"Oh, those guys?" Sindri scoffed. "You underestimate a Dwarf's talent for hiding from Gods, my friend. You should know how resourceful we Dwarves are. As for the city, well it might be... messy and filthy in some areas, but its a great city. What about you? I mean, I've heard you;ve interacted with Greek demigods and even battled the God of War himself!"
"That's a long story." Jakob said.
"Not that long." Mimir said, causing Jakob to lift the head off his hip and turn him to see Sindri. "Ah, nice to see you again, Sindri."
"And I see you still carry the head around you." Sindri said with a gag. "That is so unclean."
"Well that's nice... you nob." Miimir muttered.
"And how's that Axe been doing? Serving you well?" Sindri asked, seeing the Leviathan Axe strapped to Jakob's back.
"It has." Jakob nodded.
"Oh good... so, what's your next move?" Sindri asked curiously as he finished scanning the items and putting them in a bag. "I mean, you aren't possibly staying in Olympian territory, right? I mean not have had any interaction with them, unlike Brok, but they are just as bad as the Aesir."
Jakob grunted. "No, I have been trying to find a place to sleep and have for a while rather than sleeping out on the streets or in the woods."
Ah... ah!" Sindri's eyes lit up. "I got a place for you! Follow me."
Taking the bag, Jakob followed the Dwarf into the back of the store, blinking in surprise when he found a gateway to the branches of Yggdrasil, also known as the World Tree. The gateway opened and the pair stepped through.
"The World Tree... it's been so long since I last took one of these gateways." Jakob muttered as he followed Sindri. "Where are we going, Sindri? Not to another Realm, right? Won't we need Týr's Temple for that?"
"Yes, but with the world changing and adapting over the centuries, the Temple has practically hidden itself alongside the World Serpent... though it's still somewhere in Scandinavia." Sindri explained. "After all, with the way mortals have evolved since ancient times, their technology advancing, it's best the Godly stuff remains like ruins to them and not at all working functionally."
"He's got a point." Mimir added. "Could you imagine if mortals got their hands on Týr's Temple? Though, they' need a Bifrost to work it and travel to another Realm."
"Nearly there!" Sindri called as he jgged a few feet before stopping as a gateway appeared and he walked through it, Jakob following him through and coming out to see... he was still in the Realm Between Realms, and staring at a treehouse.
"Woah..." Jakob muttered with awe.
"Yes, so this is where Brok and I have settled rather than go about our day in Midgard as often as we used to do." Sindri explained. "It might not be much, but it's safe from Odin's eyes which I'm sure you'd appreciate given your... runaway status."
Jakob grunted in response as he looked around, walking towards the edge and looking down to see Lindwyrms, the brood of Níðhögg.
"Here's hoping we don't find ourselves in a situation where we encounter Níðhögg." Jakob said, knowing that the giant female beast would protect the tree with her very life. Turning away, Jakob walked over to where Sindri was waiting for him by the doors of the house.
"Come in! Come in!" Sindri beckoned and pushed the doors open. "Now, if you'll just wipe your feet very thoroughly, I'll wait."
Jakob sighed but knew what Sindri was like so he wiped his feet, much to Sindri's satisfaction as he gave a nod and turned around to start showing the place off. Jakob looked around, spotting the Dwarf's workshop where they do their forging, a fireplace with a table set before it, a area for cooking and a study table.
"Okay, your bedroom is over there, kitchen is over there... speaking of which, want a snack?" Sindri asked politely.
"Not just now, but thanks Sindri." Jakob smiled a little. "And thanks for offering this place. I'll be sure to appreciate it and find a way to repay you for this."
"Oh please, don't go to such trouble on my account." Sindri scoffed lightly. "After all, who can help better than your favourite Dwarven friends? We're still your favourite Dwarves, right?"
"You're the only Dwarves I've met." Jakob said with amusement.
"I'll take it." Sindri shrugged and was about to say something else when the doors burst open and Sindri's brother, Brok, burst in. Brok was a Dwarf with a deep blue complexion, has amber eyes and dark brown hair, to which is receded atop his head, and most prominent in the form of a medium-sized chinstrap beard and slight side whiskers around the side of his head as sideburns. For clothing, he wore a golden double-plated cuirass that covers his torso in delicate Urnes-styled metalwork.
"Alright, what's going-" brok stopped and blinked when he saw Jakob standing there. "Wha-Hel! Look who's finally paying us a visit! C'mere you damn bastard!"
"Yeah, it's good to see you too." Jakob said as he shared a hug with the Dwarf. "You been treating your brother well enough? Last thing I want is you two fighting again."
"Oh please... might be a little annoying over the centuries but he's still the same as ever." Sindri said with a look at his brother who just waved him off. "Anyway, Brok, Jakob's going to be living here with us for a while rather than down in Midgard especially in New York.
Brok shot Jakob a look. "So you really did get yourselves involved with the Olympians, huh? Tell me, did you happen to see the likes of Aphrodite? That lady is sure one-"
"No." Jakob said with a roll of his eyes. "Only Olympians I've met so far are Dionysus, Zeus, Poseidon and Ares."
"Well, not a bad bunch to meet. Heard you fought the God of War." Brok said as he and his brother made their way over to the workshop with Jakob following.
"He did." Mimir confirmed. "Had to get roped into the quest to find Zeus' Master Bolt after it was stolen by Ares."
"So that really did happen!" Brok threw his hands up. "That old fucker losing his toy... wouldn't stop making that fact known to the point I'm pretty sure other pantheons found out about that since Zeus wouldn't shut his trap. if ain't fucking his wife or some poor woman who gets his attention, he's all paranoid like the All-Fucker."
'That's a new one.' Jakob thought with a snort of amusement at what Brok called Odin.
"But still, I thank you both for allowing me to stay here." Jakob said gratefully.
"No need, anything to help the only Aesir we like." Brok said, Sindri nodding in agreement. "Though be warned, you may get a visit from that one-eyed nutsucker at some point... stupid landlord."
"He's not the landlord!" Sindri huffed.
"I'll be on the lookout for Ratatoskr." Jakob said with a nod before he turned and made his way to his assigned bedroom to check it out.
"So, how's life been treating everyone's favourite azure vulgarian?" Mimir called to Brok.
"The fuck you call me?!" Brok shouted with a glare.
Mimir laughed. "Exquisite!"
Jakob shook his head in amusement, able to tell that he was going to enjoy his time residing here with the Dwarves. And if he had to go to the other Realms, though he had no intention of doing so every time, Brok and Sindri would find a way to send him to a Realm.
And that's it for this chapter. It's not much, but it was namely Jakob meeting Brok and Sindri, who he knows, and residing in Sindri's House from God of War Ragnarök. I was always going to introduce them into the story, even in the original version with the intention of them showing up after the events of Titan's Curse.
But since I've rewritten the story, I had a chance to bring them in earlier than I intended. Plus, Jakob has a place to stay outside of Midgard when he isn't at Camp Half-Blood.
Now, I haven't come up with things for Jakob to do between the evebts of The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters, except for this chapter, so the next chapter will timeskip to when Sea of Monsters begins.
