Jakob groaned as he stirred from the blissful comfort that was the realm of Njörun, the Norse Goddess of Dreams. Like how the Greek pantheon had Morpheus, the God of Dreams. He tiredly blinked his eyes open to stare up at the ceiling of his cabin, and remained like that for about a minute before a mumbled groan beside him brought his attention back to the present. When he looked at the source of the groan, he couldn't help but smile.

Laying in the king-sized bed with him was his official girlfriend, Silena. And no, before you ask, they did not have sex immediately after getting together. Silena was still clothed, as was Jakob, with the daughter of Aphrodite wearing short shorts that showed off her legs, and a gray crop top that helped show her developing figure and curves, which was bound to happen being she's a daughter of Aphrodite. Jakob was only dressed in black shorts that came to his knees. They may have gotten together a day ago, but Silena had not wasted time in wanting to sleep in the same bed as him, and so she slept in his cabin rather than her own.

The son of Thor just laid there, staring at her. When he found out about the bracelet with Kronos' sign, he had felt the grip of betrayal around his heart but shook it off as he wanted to get Silena's side of the story. One thing he would never do is allow his anger to cloud his judgement... most times. Silena had a reason for being a spy, and he learned about it from her, and now she was no longer a spy for Luke and the Titans.

But when Jakob sees Luke again... he's going to rip that bastard son of Hermes' head off his shoulders.

Sighing, Jakob shook off the thoughts and just shifted, his arm pulling Silena closer to him as he prepared to go back to sleep. However, that wouldn't kast long as he felt a presence appear in his cabin, one that was not human.

A God had just entered his cabin, well teleported actually.

'Of fucking course.' Jakob thought with annoyance before opening his eyes and sitting up, carefully taking Silena's arm off his chest and he eyed the God... Goddess that and just appeared in his cabin as if she owned the place.

The woman was beautiful, he'll admit that, with an ageless air around her, like a statue. But she was also deathly pale. She had black eyes. She also had two old-fashioned reed torches, lit on fire. She wore a dark sleeveless gown. She had golden hair that hung loosely at her shoulders. Her image seemed to ripple, as if she were still made out of the mist that appeared. She looked about twenty-five, at least.

Jakob's eyes narrowed. "Who are you?" He asked in a low tone, being careful not to waken Silena.

"I am Hecate." She said. "Goddess of magic."

Jakob frowned. "What do you want? You can't just knock like any normal person?"

Hecate narrowed her eyes at his blunt tone."You should watch your tone, Thorsson. Many Gods will not take kindly to such disrespect."

"Do I look like I care?" Jakob retorted. "Be quick with your words then get out. Did Zeus send you?"

Hecate inhaled then exhaled, as if trying to contain herself from destroying him. She eyed him more seriously. "I am in need of your services, Jakob Thorsson."

Jakob raised an eyebrow. "Need of my services? I'm sorry, I think I made it clear I am no tool for the Olympians. Whatever you want from me, you can have your children do-"

"It's because of your interaction with my children that I am choosing you." Hecate shot back sharply. "You wish to learn magic, yes? You've asked my daughter, Lou Ellen, as well as my son, Alabaster, to teach you."

"What of it? Don't like a demigod of another pantheon knowing Greek magic?" Jakob asked with a taunting smirk.

"Were I given justifiable cause..." Hecate growled before she calmed herself down. "Complete this quest for me, and I will give you my blessing to use magic, and tomes of mine containing a variety of the arcane arts."

"What tome?" Jakob asked curiously.

It's called the Tenentem de Obumbratio."

"Holding of Shadows?" Jakob questioned, easily translating the Latin words.

"Yes. It was created by one of my children in the 13th century. He was a necromancer named Adrian Bemus, but that's not important. What is important is the tome's secrets that it contains. Like the name suggests, it contains dark magic. Black magic. Magic so vile that it should not be unleashed." Hecate explained easily.

Jakob raised his eyebrows. "And you want to put that in my hands? If this tome is so dangerous, why must I get it? It's probably protected by magical barriers or something like that."

Hecate shook her head. "Oh, no. The tome isn't protected by a strong barrier. In fact, it can easily be overcome by brute force, which you and your kind are quite famous for."

"Insults will only get you far with me, Goddess of Magic." Jakob said warningly, but Hecate only raised a brow. "Tell me about this book."

"The tome might end up in the wrong hands. Anyone who opens the book will immediately be consumed by the darkness within. It won't have much effect on gods, maybe minor deities. But demigods, woodland creatures and anyone else? They would be corrupted by black magic."

"And you want me to get it?" Jakob asked with a scoff. "I'm not touching something that will corrupt me."

Hecate rolled her eyes. "So paranoid, Thorsson. You and Zeus have that in common."

"Don't compare me to Zeus." Jakob growled. "Why not send one of your children?"

"Because I care for my children, I don't care about you." Hecate retorted. "You go and retrieve the tome, none of my children are put in danger of going on this quest. If you die... well, Olympus gets rid of one of it's most potential threats. You do not need to touch the book to be corrupted. Only if you open the book will you be corrupted. To protect you, I will place a simple protection rune on you to ensure you are not corrupted. Complete this quest, and you will be rewarded with my blessing to use magic and I will give you several books of the arcane arts to read about and learn more magic."

Jakob sighed, really wanting to tell Hecate to piss off... but the idea of getting to control magic of Greek nature was too promising. Not out of greed or power-lust or anything like that, but because he needed more power to protect his friends. He was not letting greed cloud his judgement, he was actually pretty in control of himself, but he had a desire for knowledge. If he can find this tome, he'd be rewarded greatly. However, he'd have to be cautious, Hecate may be wanting to trick him and give Olympus a justifiable reason to smite him.

Gods always know how to trick people.

He nodded. "Alright. I'll do this."

Hecate nodded with a pleased smirk. "The Tenentem de Obumbratio is located in Quebec, Canada. There is no set time-limit, but I would appreciate if you could retrieve it soon. The longer it remains unattended, the more risk there is that it will fall into the wrong hands. I need to correct the mistake that my son has caused."

Jakob nodded again. "How will I find the tome? Or know when I'm near it?"

held out her hand, and a stone appeared onto her palm. It was smooth, and was the size of a tennis ball. On top of it was a Greek letter: Eta, meaning H. Jakob thought it was a symbol of Hephaestus, but it wasn't. Surrounding the letter was a symbol of magic, signifying that it represented Hecate. It was like one of those magic circles that you see in some fake fortune-teller stuff. Though this was very real.

"It is a magic circle that is tied to me," Hecate explained. "When you are about to leave, it will transport you to your destination. When you have completed your objective, the magic circle will transport you to your cabin, where I will meet you. It will automatically react to the dark magic of the Holding of Shadows as well as your magic. This will signify that you have it in your grasp."

Jakob nodded, taking in all the information given to him. It sounded like a simple quest, but he knew it was going to be anything but.

"Alright, if we're done here... get out." Jakob said, gesturing to the door. "Unless you want to see me naked."

Hecate wrinkled her nose. "How crass of you. What the daughter of Aphrodite sees in you, I have no idea." With that, she disappeared, well more like faded away like some image.

Jakob sighed and looked at the floor before looking at the sleeping form of his girlfriend.

Jakob frowned as he appeared out of purple smoke, looking around to see he was on the outskirts of Quebac, in Canada. . Being this far up north, anyone would feel the cold nipping at their skin, but Jakob had experienced far worst temperatures in Niflheim and Helheim.

"Alright, let's get this over with." Jakob muttered to himself. He brought out the stone that had the magic circle on it. Immediately, the circle flared, showing that it was outlined with a black colour. When he moved a certain distance, it pulsed strongly or faded weakly. Jakob guessed it was kind of like a magic metal detector, indicating if he was close to the Holding of Shadows or not. Pretty cool.

Jakob walked in straight ahead, entering the city but walking near the suburbs. The magic circle pulsed strongly, showing that he was on the right path. Jakob wondered how it was going to show the location of the tome. Was it going to start flashing? Maybe sound out an alarm or something? He didn't know for sure.

He kept on walking for twenty minutes. He felt he was about to lose any semblance of patience and throw the stone in his hand on the ground and crush it out of frustration when the magic circle suddenly flared. The black outline of the magic circle turned a deep ebony, the design making it look like the stone was bleeding black blood along the surface.

Jakob looked around, seeing an empty clearing with trees, a field of grass and a small bush. No tome.

But he knew that it was here. The magic circle was clearly indicating that it was. He moved the stone around, watching as it flared in the direction of one tree. Jakob looked at the tree and narrowed his eyes before drawing close, noticing the stone flaring up more as he approached, and the tree... the tree responded back.

As soon as he touched the ground, a magic circle appeared.

This one was different from the one on the stone Jakob had. This one was a deep purple, with symbols that Jakob had never seen before. He could see that one of them was an eye, like the one Egyptians had with purple eyeliner. Another was a skull with a serpent in its mouth.

Jakob decided to ignore the magic circle, and focused on trying to break it. So he sent a medium-powered beam of lightning at it, just to avoid damaging the tome. He doubted Hecate would be pleased if it was.

A large bang echoed out through the forest, along with a small cloud of dust. When Jakob was able to see properly, he saw that the magic circle was slightly broken, with a few cracks on it. Along with that, the surrounding area was damaged by the collision of power. Trees were snapped. The grass was covered in soot. Damn, guess he was going to need more firepower.

He walked up to the magic circle and raised his fist. He channelled lightning energy, making his fist spark very quickly. He brought it down hard, striking the magic circle, making a loud boom echo across the forest.

The magic circle gave way, collapsing and fading away into particles of purple light. When Jakob looked inside the hole that was protected by the circle, he could see the Holding of Shadows inside.

It was a large book, with more pages than a normal phone book. It had a black cover, with no intricate carvings or markings on it. Nothing to indicate that it was a necromancer's book. It did, however, have a large stylish 'A' that was gilded with gold. Jakob didn't know what the 'A' standed for. Maybe 'Adrian'?

As soon as Jakob drew closer to the Holding of Shadows, he could feel its foul presence, and it was strong. He could hear dark whispers in his mind, tempting him to open the book, to devour its secrets.

Jakob knew that the book was bad news. That it would corrupt him if he opened it. But a small voice, deep in his head, kept on telling him, Open it. Consume the power. You could gain more strength. More power. To protect those you hold dear.

Jakob snorted. "Like I'm that easy to corrupt." he said before he reached into his pocket and brought out a black glove and a sackcloth. Both of them had a Greek rune on them, the rune for 'light' and 'protection'. The glove for when he picked up the Holding of Shadows, and the cloth for containing it. The sackcloth was double-layered with protection runes.

Wanting to get it over with, Jakob put on the glove and reached down, taking hold of the tome. It felt cold in his hand, like he was touching a corpse. He resisted the urge to drop the book out of pure revulsion. The whispers in his voice got louder. Stronger. It was like listening to Kronos' voice on the tips of the pit Tartarus.

He quickly placed the Holding of Shadows in the sackcloth, tying it with a string and muttering a few incantations, making the runes on the cloth light up and take effect.

He sighed in relief. He put the sackcloth in another rucksack that he brought with him. He was thankful that it was over.

He was about to reach into his pocket to take hold of the stone with the magic circle when he heard the flapping of wings overhead.

Jakob sighed. "Of course it can't be this easy." he muttered to himself before turning around and spotting two winged men approaching.

"So this was where all that noise and light show was coming from," commented the one on the right in a really bad fake French accent. He looked full of himself, like an arrogant douchebag. Oh, joy.

"Kill! Destroy!" the one on the left barked. He looked more brutish than the other guy, like a jock.

"So what's a kid like you hanging around here?" the arrogant one asked, peering down on Jakob. "You're not supposed to be here."

"Says who? It's a free country. People can go wherever they like." Jakob answered with a casual smirk.

"This is a restricted area," the arrogant one continued, his piss poor accent making Jakob want to punch him in the face.

"Says who?" Jakob asked.

"Us!" the brutish one said with a smirk. "Me Cal!"

"Short for Calias. I'm Zethes," Zethes said with a smirk. "My brother is, unfortunately, limited to words that are fewer than two syllables."

"Destroy! Kill! Pizza!" Calias bellowed.

Zethes shrugged. "Those are his favourite words, apparently. So kid, we're going have to ask you to leave."

'Zethes and Calias. sons of Boreas and Orithyia.' Jakob thought with narrowed eyes. "Well, you're in luck, I was just about to leave. So... goodbye." He took out the magic circle and was about to be teleported away but was interrupted by Zethes.

"Wait, hold on, kid."

Jakob growled in frustration. "For fuck's sake, what now?! What is so important that you had to interrupt me?! You just told me I had to leave. So what the hell do you need me for?!"

"Since you were responsible for that little light show, as well as the damage around the area, which did disturb us, we kind of have to destroy you," Zethes said, smirking with each word said. His brother seemed to like that idea, judging from his loud grunts and nods.

Jakon just stared at them blankly. "Nope."

With that, he blasted them both with two beams of lightning, blasting the two off their feet and leaving them smoking, groaning messes. Jakob just shook his head and turned around to leave when a blizzard of snow appeared in front of him.

"Not. So. Quick." A cold, female voice said, causing Jakob to turn around and see a third party had shown up. A woman.

She was of about twenty-three coming from the clearing of the trees. She had pale skin, like white-as-snow pale, with a beautiful face. She was wearing an icy blue dress that clung to her form. She had black hair that cascaded down her back as well as dark brown eyes that were glaring at all three residents.

Jakob had to admit... she was hot. She even had the whole ice-queen theme going on. She reminded Jakob of Killer Frost from the comics. However, she had nothing on Silena's looks.

The woman looked at the two brothers with disgust in her eyes. Now that Jakob could look closely, he could see the features of Zethes and Calias properly. They kind of looked similar to the woman who had appeared. Siblings maybe...

'Looks like I've just met Khione, Goddess of Snow.' Jakob thought with a mental groan. Oh, he's heard a lot about her... namely what a bitch she was, as well as how much of a slut she is, spreading her legs for more men. She could probably rival Aphrodite with her record!

Khione looked at him, narrowed her eyes as she eyed him before her look turned seductive. "Well, well, what have we here " She purred as she began sauntering towards him, hips swaying. "The infamous son of Thor himself."

"I take it you've heard of me." jakob stated, not blinking as the woman began to circle him, a hand on his shoulder and trailed it along.

"mmhmmm." She chuckled in response. "You fought Ares, the God of War, went into the Sea of Monsters, killed the Cetus, found the Golden Fleece. Word spreads quickly. Say, why don't we venture back to my place and I'll be sure to reward you for all your heroic-"

"Pass." Jakob said boredly. "I'm not interested."

Khione's look shifted to anger. "What?"

Jakob eyed her with annoyance. "Go find someone else to make your fuck toy, I won't join the list of men who foolishly got swayed by your charms... and I happen to have a girlfriend who is much more attractive than you."

"YOU DARE?!" Khione screamed as she tried blasting him with a blizzard, but Jakob was quick to roll out of the way and fire back with lightning that she dodged. "You will pay for disrespecting me, filthy mortal!"

Jakob rolled his eyes. "Get some new material."

Khione snarled before she outstretched her hand to send ice spears at him, bit Jakob summoned a lightning storm to take them out before charging at her with lightning to boost his peed, allowing him to clothesline the Goddess of Snow, knocking her off her feet. He could try fighting her with the Leviathan Axe, but since her domaiun was snow and all that comes with it, he wouldn't do much damage with its frost powers. So for now, lightning would do.

Opening his hands, Jakob summoned two swords made entirely of lightning, twirled them around and entered a stance. Khione sent more ice spikes his way, but he slashed and sliced them in quick succession, then he became a blitz of lightning as he moved to strike the Goddess who was quick to block his attack.

"Pathetic." Khione sneered, but that didn't last as Jakob kicked her in the stomach then swung his lightning swords, catching her on the stomach and the other on the cheek. She stumbled back, holding the two areas and blinked at the sight of ichor, the blood of the Gods before her expression darkened.

"YOU HIT ME!" She screamed.

"Ruined your good looks?" Jakob scoffed. "More like brought the ugly to the outside rather than keep it inside."

Wanting to end this quickly and get back to Camp, Jakob charged at Khione who sent more ice spikes, spears and swords at him, but he ducked, dodged or slashed them before leaping at Khione who created an ice shield to defend herself, only for Jakob to dispell the lightning swords, cock his fist back while channelling it with lighting powers, then brought it directly into the shield which shattered from the force behind his punch, allowing him to nail Khione with his fist and leave a dark bruise while also sending some teeth flying.

Jakob landed in a roll and whirled around to see the Goddess getting to her knees, clutching her jaw. However, she didn't have time to recover as Jakob rushed up and drove his knee into her face, sending her onto her side. She looked up, only to receive a kick to the face. Jakob then grabbed her by the air and slammed her face repeatedly off the ground before stopping as the woman groaned in pain.

"Consider that your only warning." Jakob warned, turning and walking away. As he went to summon the magic circle to take him back to Camp Half-Blood, he paused, then whirled around while taking off the Leviathan Axe and throwing it. Khione, who had rushed at Jakob with an ice dagger to kill him, screamed as the Axe struck her in the left shoulder, causing ichor to splatter and onto the ground. She fell to her knees in pain, looking at the Axe in shock before it was ripped from her and flew back to Jakob's hand.

The son of Thor strode up, then swung the Axe and slashed her across the chest, then drove the Axe into her other shoulder, then her side, before summoned an lightning sword and pierced her through the chest with it. Ichor spilled from Khione's mouth as she looked at him with wide eyes before Jakob ripped his weapon free and dispelled it, watching as she fell back and laid motionless on the ground. Her body then writhed before it exploded into snow and ice, causing Jakob to cover his face to avoid being blinded, then looked to see nothing remaining of the Goddess of Snow.

Wordlessly, Jakob turned and left.

Yep, that just happened. I could've had it be more violent, but I honestly couldn't think of how to make the fight and ending violent. Is Khione dead? Well, Gods do come back after a time, I believe, though not instantly. At least, in the Rick Riordan universe. I'm not sure how it works, but Jakob ensured blood would be spilled.

Will this make Olympus be up in arms? Well, they'll now be more cautious and weary of Jakob, but won't see the loss of a minor goddess that damaging to their pantheon.
