boogbryant98 phs2016: Thanks.
Guest02957: To answer your questions; The DLC was awesome, no Jakob won't become the God of Hope because he is not Kratos, who was on a path of redemption.
Tommy: Oh don't worry, they will be appearing very, very soon. During Titan's Curse, actually.
willtemple34: Jakob will get the Blades, don't worry about that.
Harlequin-TheDollmaker: Plus, Aesir are bloodthristty and violent, Thor especially, so there's a bit of thgat in Jakob no matter how much he tries to control it. This is what happens when you get warned and don't take it seriously.
Redburndragon: Hmm, true.
Guest: Exactly.
Guest250: Oh he didn't kill the other two, he just blasted them with enough lightning to incapaciate them. All he wanted was to get what he was there for and leave... then he had to be pushed.
Brian-tagachi: I do my best to ensure he's not a Kratos wannabe.
GamerKing07: It's how he was raised.
Kenka: The Olympians will definitely be more weary of him, to the point one of them may have to personally be assigned to watch him.
Bromega2477: Yep.
jedblack1997: They will fall as well.
22jward: She's a minor goddess, not a major Olympian.
Daua002: The Axe was made to counter Thor's hammer, it doesn't get any stronger than that.
ayatoamagiri3425: Character development. She'll try her charms on Jakob, but he'll refuse her which makes her desire him more because she's never had any man resist her. But along the way, she'll change. It's called character development.
Sh0ckWav3: It's only until I reach chapter 30, then I'll be working on something else until it's either completed or at the same number of chapters.
Disclaimer: I do not own God of War or Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I only own the OC Jakob Thorsson.
Jakob was currently meditating in the centre of the camp by the huge stone-lined fire pit. Several spell books were open in front of him, but he was currently busy at the moment.
It was a few days since he did his quest for Hecate, and the Goddess had stayed true to her word in rewarding him with books of arcane knowledge for him to learn. She also blessed him to use magic and told him to train with her children as they will teach him better. Jakob was still weary of her, but let it go for now. He had concluded she was trying to either make him out to be some kind of enemy to the Olympians, give them justifiable reason to kill him, or she really wanted that tome out of the wrong hands but didn't want to risk any of her children so she went for the 'expendable' demigod.
Either way, Jakob didn't care. He got something out of it in the end.
'Maybe I should contact Ryūjin and see if he can bless me with the ability to control water.' Jakob thought as he remembered his meeting with the Shinto God. It was something to consider.
Another thing he was deeply considering was training Andromeda, Annabeth, Silena and Katie, as he noticed they had been training harder these past few days. He also remembered Annabeth suggestion to the daughter of Poseidon of Jakob training them, but none of them had stepped forward to ask. He couldn't go to them and offer, they had to come to him. It's best to make it look like they want to be trained, not him just bringing it onto them. Besides, he had his own training routine to stick to, so until they do come forward and ask, he'll stick to it.
"Mind a little company?" A voice said beside him.
Jakob looked up and came face-to-face with a very young girl.
He blinked as he looked at the girl, not believing what he was seeing. From his perspective, the girl couldn't be older than ten. And yet, when she spoke, she had a tone of maturity and wisdom. She was also wearing a simple brown dress with mousy brown hair. She was sitting next to the hearth that was in the fire pit, which was suddenly lit.
She looked simple, but her eyes said differently. Her eyes were on fire. Like, literally. Her eyes were filled with flames. Like Ares', but more calm, more peaceful. They held power within them. The weird thing was, Jakob felt like he met her before. He would've known if he'd met someone with such bizarre features.
Jakob knew who she was instantly.
"Lady Hestia." Jakob said, inclining his head.
"There is no need to bow, Jakob Thorsson," Hestia said with an amused smile on her face. "Nor any need to call me 'Lady'. You may simply call me Hestia."
"Very well." Jakob nodded.
"I see you've been adapting well here." Hestia said as she watched him read from one of the spellbooks Hecate had given him. "And it appears Hecate has rewarded you for your quest... although the fate of Khione has left most of the Gods weary of you."
Jakob snorted. "More so than usual?" He asked almost jokingly but knowingly, getting a nod from the Goddess of Family. "Well, I warned her, she didn't take it. She forced my hand. I don't care if the Olympians think of me as a threat, I'm not here to please them or earn their favour. I'd rather suffer in Helheim before I do that."
"You don't like the Olympians much, do you?" Hestia asked him.
"I never said I didn't." Jakob said, giving her a look. "But your pantheon ain't exactly one of the best, choosing to hide their past crimes and make them out to be victims or all-good and all-powerful. Out of all the Greek Gods, there's only two that have my utmost respect and that's Hades and you."
"Me?" Hestia blinked in shock at that.
Jakob smiled at her. "To put up with your family and all their shit, having to give your throne up even when you are entitled to it as the eldest daughter of Kronos and Rhea."
"I did that to avoid conflict amongst my family when Dionysus was given godhood." Hestia said.
"A wasted opportunity, if you ask me," Jakob muttered.
Hestia smiled. "I can't really complain. I tend to the hearth, as it is in my domain."
"But you deserve much more," Jakob insisted. "You're the eldest Olympian. You deserve respect. It's not fair that you and the other gods and goddesses-" Jakob stopped as he realized that, not only Hestia, but the other minor gods and goddesses didn't have a cabin here.
"Yes," Hestia nodded. "It is not fair. But that is how it's always been. But perhaps you could change that. Am I correct to assume that you would want to be a beacon of hope to other children of Gods in this case?" She said the last part with a teasing smile.
Jakob scoffed. "I'm not the best example to call a hero. My kind are bloodthristy and battle-hungry monsters after all."
"But that doesn't mean you are like your father, grandfather, uncles or your brothers." Hestia countered knowingly. Jakob was silent at that, wondering about her words before he shook his head.
"Doesn't matter, but maybe... I can have a cabin built for you." Jakob suggested.
Hestia shook her head. "Zeus would not like that. I am not an Olympian. I-"
"I don't give a damn what Zeus thinks." Jakob cut in, causing lightning to flash in the sky due to the insult. Jakob ignored that. "You should get the respect that you deserve. You're the eldest Olympian. Hey, since your the Goddess of the Hearth, home and family, do you mind if children of the minor gods or any unclaimed can go into your future cabin?"
"That is an amazing idea. I would obviously allow it. But tell me, why would you go so far for my sake?" Hestia asked, confused.
"Like I said, you're one of the two Greek Gods that have my utmost respect." Jakob said with a small shrug. "You and Hades deserve respect and recognition, as you are both the eldest children of Kronos and Rhea. I mean, you put up with your family, being shunted to the side, Hades having to put up being the 'bad guy' just because he rules the Underworld. Trust me, Hela faces the same crap."
"Hela... that would be the ruler of Helheim, yes? Loki's daughter?" Hestia asked, getting a nod from Jakob. "Well, I thank you, Jakob, for your kind words."
"Anytime." Jakob said and turned back to his book when a thought hit him and he turned back to the Goddess of the Hearth. "Can I ask you a... personal question?"
"I don't mind, ask whatever you'd like." Hestia said, not minding if he wanted to ask her something.
"Why did you decide to become a Virgin Goddess?" Questioned Jakob, finding it confusing that Hestia, a Goddess of Family, wouldn't want a family of her own.
"I was just never interested in finding a partner or becoming a mother. I preferred being like my Aunt Themis, acting as a mediator and peacekeeper among the gods, it also suits me just fine to stay in the background. Besides, I have plenty of nieces and nephews to look after, so not having my own children is alright." Replied Hestia, only for Jakob to look at her with an unconvinced expression.
"The Goddess of Family never desiring to have a family of her own, sorry, but I don't believe that. You've never once even thought about it, seeing the rest of the gods have children of their own. Hell, even Artemis has her girl scouts as children and Athena, despite being a Virgin Goddess herself, still has kids. Have you really never desired to have your own?" Jakob asked, refusing to believe Hestia never even thought what it'd be like to have children of her own, whether having her own biological children or adopting ones as her followers.
Though he frowned when the hearth flames began dimming, making him look at Hestia again only to see her solemn expression.
"I…never really got the chance to think about it." Hestia said, making Jakob's frown deepen.
"You already know how my father swallowed me and my siblings, afraid that we would overthrow him after learning we were born as gods and goddesses. But it's not well known that I remember the very moment he swallowed me, vividly. Even as just a baby, I knew what was happening and I was terrified that my own father was going to eat me whole. And I could never forget hearing my mother wail in despair, being helpless to stop him from eating her children. Then to be trapped in darkness for…who knew how long, only being able to tell when another of my siblings joined me." Said Hestia, with the redhead looking at her with wide eyes.
"You really remember all that? Do the others?" Jakob asked, wondering if the other Elder Olympians remember Kronos swallowing them.
"If they do, then they likely don't like talking about it nor remembering the time we were trapped. But that's why I chose to become a Virgin Goddess, because I didn't want to take the risk of having a partner like Kronos, being bound to someone so cruel, heartless and power-hungry. Or being helpless like my mother, unable to do anything if my children are endangered. I'd rather never have my own family if it meant I'd have to go through any of that again." Hestia explained.
"Okay, I guess I can understand that'd put anyone off from getting married or having kids. But that's only one example and Kronos was always a power-hungry asshole, so you shouldn't really let what he did affect what you do." Said Jakob, with Hestia shaking her head.
"It's not just him, I've seen it happen before. I love my family, I do, but I'm not blind to their faults. I've seen for myself that Zeus can be just as bad, if not worse than our father, he swallowed his first wife just to subvert a prophecy of their son overthrowing him, his marriage to Themis lead to The Fates being born, and I've honestly lost count of the number of times he's cheated on Hera. Then the incident with Priapus who tried raping me while I was asleep and would've, if it wasn't for my donkey. Then Poseidon and Apollo both tried proposing to me, but I'd already seen enough times to know neither of them would've remained loyal either. I was just…I was tired of it all and chose to remain a virgin, so I didn't have to worry anymore." Said Hestia, with Jakob frowning at her explanation.
"And you never really had a chance to think about it." Jakob stated, with the Hearth Goddess nodding in response.
"No…I didn't. Maybe…maybe part of me did want a family of my own, but I just never had time to think about it or even try finding a partner. So I simply didn't try and accepted looking after my family's children, instead." Hestia said, accepting that having a family of her own likely wasn't a possibility.
With Jakob's frown deepening at her words, before turning back towards the hearth.
"Well…if it's any consolation, I believe you deserve to be a mother more than any other Olympian." Said Jakob, making Hestia look at him curiously.
"What makes you say that?" Questioned Hestia.
"Well, aside from the fact you're the Goddess of Family, you have a very calming and warm aura, you have over thousands of years' worth of experience dealing with the children in your family, you make an effort to look after their kids when their parents barely even acknowledge them. And like you said, you act as a peacekeeper so you'd never lose your temper with them. And after how long you've acted as a mediator for the rest of your family, being able to have a family of your own, something that'd truly be yours, it's the least you deserve. I also doubt you'd let anything stop you from raising any children you had yourself, even if they're demigods. So, I really believe you'd be a great parent." Jakob said, with Hestia looking at him in surprise before she smiled gently at him.
"That…really means a lot, thank you." Said Hestia, touched to hear the belief he had in her being a parent.
"I'm just telling the truth, if it's something you want then you shouldn't be afraid to try and get it. Plus one other reason, with all your experience and seeing the kind of parents the rest of your family have become, you'd also know how to be far better." Said Jakob, causing the Hearth Goddess to giggle lightly.
"That's a fair point, I suppose." Hestia stated before she saw Jakob stand up.
"I think I'm gonna try and get some sleep, now. It was nice officially meeting you, Hestia." Jakob said as the Goddess nodded and smiled in response.
"It was nice meeting you as well, Jakob." Said Hestia, waving to the redhead as he returned to his Cabin, while she turned her attention back to the hearth.
Though the goddess couldn't help but look back at the Son of Thor in interest.
Jakob was lying in his cabin, resting from training. He was finally taking a break from his training. It felt nice to talk with Hestia, and he could see himself visiting her everyday when he needed someone to talk to. Annabeth had once mentioned how Hestia just sat and listened while the daughter of Athena vented and girved after what happened to Thalia, before the Goddess hugged her close and whispered soothing words to her. It just strengthed Jakob's belief that she'd make a better mother than any of the Olympians.
Suddenly a spike of power shot up from within the camp making him sit straight up. In the sky a loud thunder suddenly boomed.
"What are you, everyone's alarm clock, Zeus?" Jakob asked with annoyance before jumping out of bed, still dressed in normal clothing, threw his jacket on and grabbed Mimir's head from the pedestal it was sitting on.
"What on Midgard was that?" The head questioned.
"Someone probably pissed Zeus off... but I've felt a spike of power in the camp." Jakob said with a frown as he grabbed the Leviathan Axe and hooked it to his back before exiting his cabin.
When he was out of his cabin, he saw the sky was flashing with thunder and lightning and other demigods began to pile out of their cabins to see what was going on.
Jakob focused in on the energy spike and sensed it coming from atop of the hill. He dashed in that direction towards the hilltop. He saw the others trying to follow after him along with Chiron and Andromeda.
When he got closer to the hilltop, he saw Annabeth crouching over what looked like a person. By the figure, he guessed it was a girl. Annabeth looked up to see him approaching and he saw she was crying.
"Annabeth, what-" Jakob started
"She was just lying here. There was a gold light coming from the tree and the next thing I know here she is." she said, sobbing.
"Annabeth, who're you talking about? Who-" Jakob was saying, but Annabeth wasn't answering, continuing sobbing.
Jakob looked at the girl to study her features. The girl on the ground was slightly pale looking with shoulder length black spiky hair and freckles that ran across her nose. She was wearing very punk styled clothes and had a bracelet around her left wrist. She was built like a long-distance runner, lithe and strong.
From behind them, Jakob turned and saw people massing around them as well as Chiron trotting over as he got closer.
He could hear Andromeda talking to Chiron as well as Grover trying to get his sobbing under control.
"The Fleece did it job far too well," Chiron said in a disbelieving tone, but it only further confused the other demigods.
The girl on the ground began to groan and her eyes began to flicker open. When they did, Jakob saw they were electric blue in colour, similar to his own though a lighter shade of blue compared to the dark blue his eyes had. They were flickering all over the place as if trying to figure out just where she was.
Since Annabeth was in too much shock to move, Jakob stepped forward and helped her sit up.
"Easy," he said gently. "You alright?"
"Y-yeah," the girl said. She stared at Jakob in bewilderment, shivering and wide-eyed. "Who-"
"It's okay," he said. "I'm Jakob. You've given everyone a bit of a surprise tonight. Who are you?"
The girl looked at him. "I'm Thalia, daughter of Zeus."
Jakob's eyes widened and he could heard gasps and whispers amongst the others. This was Thalia? The girl who sacrificed herself and was turned into a tree by Zeus? How did...?
Jakob turned his gaze to where the Fleece was hanging on one of the tree branches. "I think the Fleece did it's work a little too well." He said, getting a nod of agreement from Chiron.
Thalia went to try to stand up but her legs gave out immediately, causing her to fall to the ground. But instead of falling, Jakob caught her and picked her up bridal style.
"I've got you." He assured her, then frowned as he noticed the stares directed at the daughter of Zeus, which couldn't be making her comfortable. "What the fuck are you all gawking at? Move!"
He barged past them, the campers moving out of his way as he made for the infirmary.
"I can walk." Thalia said as she tried to move but Jakob adjusted his hold on her.
"You've been in a tree for about six years, you need time to get used to being back before you can start walking around." Jakob retorted. Annabeth quickly joined his side checking and fawning over Thalia.
However, as Jakob walked, he realized that another candidate for the Great Prophecy had been revealed. So, either Thalia or Andromeda will be the ones spoken of in the Prophecy...
And that's it for this chapter. Thalia is back! Her and Jakob will get along swimmingly, and by that I mean they'll be at odds with each other, namely because Thalia will be jealous Jakob's better with his lightning powers than her and a better fighter, but eventually they'll bond and train together. Then Jakob will start training the others.
Next few chapters will be original stuff, either Jakob training at Camp Half-Blood or learning more powers from other Gods of different pantheons.
