"Keep at it, brat!" Ryūjin shouted, overseeing Jakob's progress at using the water. The god and demigod were in the Shinano River in Honshu, around the Japanese Alps. The reason why both of them were in Japan in the first place was because Ryūjin resided here, and would rather teach Jakob in Shinto territory rather than anywhere near Olympus. Jakob agreed, since he was leaving camp anyway. Once he was done here, he would be going back to America, and head for Maine so he can get started on finding Bianca and Nico Di Angelo, So after saying goodbye to everyone, including having a heavy makeout sessions with Silena, Jakob left for Japan.
For Jakob to even have the ability to control water, Ryūjin blessed Jakob and that allowed him to be able to use water. But because he wasn't the offspring of a water-based god, he was a novice when it comes to controlling water but that's the reason the Shinto Dragon God of the Sea is training and teaching him to control it and use it, and he's done good in the two days since the training started.
Ryūjin wouldn't say Jakob is a natural yet, that would take a little bit longer, but he has the potential and drive.
"Keep your focus, boy." Ryūjin commented, watching as Jakob created a swirl of water in his hand and concentrated into keeping it there. "Concentrate and feel the power flow through you, focus on the pull it gives you and go from there."
Jakob followed the god's instructions as he closed his eyes, focusing, feeling for a pull and he felt it in his stomach. He grasped onto it and concentrated harder. He opened his eyes slowly and focused on the swirl of water in his hand, mentally focusing on changing it's shape. The idea worked, as the swirl of water changed into a dragon that stretched it's wings proudly before it flew around Jakob and landed on his shoulder.
"Well done!" Ryūjin announced, clapping his hands once loud enough to start Jakob and the water burst, splashing all over him. Jakob glared at the smirking Shinto God. "You're getting there. More training is needed, and once we're done, you'll be able to conjure water casually like you do with lightning and shape it to whatever you want."
"Thank you." jakob nodded, grateful for the god's help.
"Nah... thank you, kid." Ryūjin said with a smirk. "For making this a great use of my time and investment. As per our agreement, the more you exceed my expectations... then I'll get you into contact with Susanoo. trust me, it's best you meet him first before meeting his sister. A word of advice though, if you do end up meeting her... don't try and flirt with her."
Jakob raised a brow. "I already have a girlfriend."
"And yet, I believe you have feelings for more than just her." Ryūjin countered with a cheeky wink and sly grin. "You bad boy. Trying to go for a harem? Watching too many of Japan's animes?"
"Oh shut up." Jakob rolled his eyes.
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to take more than one lover, though I can't say it's practised in these times." Mimir commented from where he was placed on a nearby rock, watching the training. "Gods do take multiple lovers sometimes."
"Mimir, shut up, please." Jakob gave the head a look.
"Hey, he's got the right idea though." Ryūjin said, but only got a glare from Jakob. "Geez, testy. But anyway back to tortu- I mean, training you."
"Subtle." Jakob rolled his eyes at him before steeling himself and getting back to his training.
Stepping out of an Yggdrasil Gateway thanks to Brok and Sindri, Jakob found himself in the state of Maine, in the town of Bar Harbour where Westover Hall is located. He had made sure he would be dropped off as close to the boarding school as possible, but somewhere where he wouldn't be spotted stepping out of he gateway by mortals.
"So, this is Maine, huh?" Mimir asked, Jakob taking the head off his hip to let him see as he walked to where he can see Westover Hall. "Ah, and there's our destination, I take it."
"Yes." Jakob nodded.
"Any ideas how we'll get in?" Mimir asked curiously.
"Hades mentioned that he would ensure I was already enrolled and due to arrive when I wanted, so we won't have to worry about filing out paperwork." Jakob said, approaching the doors to the boarding school and whistling as he looked it over. "This place looks like a castle than a school, but that's just me."
It was so easy, just walking right through the front door like he owned the place. Nobody batted an eye at him just walking in, so he assumed the Mist was at work in ensuring he was among the masses. Now, to find Bianca and Nico... which was going to be tricky since this place was big and he needed to find their room. He was hoping Hades put his room close to theirs so he could keep a better eye on them.
Jakob wandered the halls of the school, searching for his charges, only for one to come running right into him with an 'oof!' as he fell back onto his rear. Jakob barely stumbled and looked down, his eyes widening at who he saw.
"Nico?"
Nico Di Angelo, now twelve years old, looked up at Jakob in surprise, shock, then excitement and joy. "Jakob!" the unknown son of Hades got up and hugged the son of Thor, who grunted in surprise but chuckled and hugged the kid back. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh just... needing something to keep me busy." Jakob shrugged. He looked around. "Hey, where#'s your-"
"Nico!" Bianca Di Angelo came running around the corner and Jakob blinked as he took in her appearance. Bianca was now fourteen, like him, and looked... pretty. She was wearing knee-high boots with laces going all the way up them, dark blue jeans, a long-sleeved dark purple shirt, and a black tank top with a red skull over it.
Bianca came to a halt. eyes widening when she saw who Nico was with, recognizing him instantly and a blush came onto her cheeks as she noted he had gotten more handsome since they first met. "J-Jakob?" She stuttered in shock.
"Hey Bianca." Jakob smiled at her, making her blush deepen. "Wasn't expecting to see you and your brother here."
Oh, he hates himself already for lying. But he'll have to do it. He just hoped Bianca and Nico understand when he comes clean to them about what they are.
"Ditto." Bianca said as she walked over, smiling now. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm enrolled here. Things got a little... out of hand and I was sent here." Jakob lied. He couldn't exactly say 'I'm here to look after you and your brother because your dad asked me to.' That would go over swimmingly. "What about you two?"
"Well, we're here because of a lawyer bringing us here and enrolling us with a trust fund left by our parents." Bianca explained, and Jakob nodded, already knowing thanks to Hades telling him.
"Hey, why don't we go get something to eat, eh?" Jakob suggested, discreetly putting his coat over Mimir's head so they didn't see him. He didn't know how he'll explain that, the Halloween decoration is a little cliche at this point.
"Sure." Bianca smiled and walked beside him, Nico on Jakob's left.
Short chapter, I know, and probably a shit one at that but I was running out of ideas for stuff between Sea of Monsters and Titan's Curse. Next chapter will actually be the beginning of The Titan's Curse arc, so look forward to that. Don't worry, Jakob will still be training and whatnot off-screen, because I'm stumped on how to write down his power-progressing and shit.
Just know that by the next chapter when Titan's Curse begins, he's got the power to control lightning, water and fire. But because he's the son of Thor, lightning will be his go-to ability aside from using the Leviathan Axe.
I don't want to make him TOO overpowered and contain various powers because then it'll be hard trying to keep track of them. He's only got these powers through blessings from other Gods, and I did consider Hestia blessing him which would grant him use of fire, but I think Amaterasu is known to control fire.
