Character Questions: Minazuki Hirose

Full name: Minazuki Hirose

Nickname: Zuki-senpai (by Reina - partial sarcasm), Hiro (by his mother.), Minazuki (preferred name)

Occupation: A Junior at Mishima Polytechnical School to begin, then a Senior and eventual graduate as the story progresses.

Appearance: A Japanese Man well-built for his age. Has a 7th-degree Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate and will eventually become a 10th-degree Black Belt. He has black hair that falls to his neck with thick eyebrows that are always burrowed. Due to his nature, Minazuki almost always has a bandage somewhere on his person due to his bruises.

Age: Seventeen, a year older than Xiaoyu. Then nineteen and twenty as time passes.

Mannerisms: Minazuki keeps to himself mostly, especially to his schoolmates since he doesn't want to be enrolled there. But his true personality shows after befriending Reina. He's respectful and patient to his friends. However, he can be pretty violent, significantly, if he or they are wronged. That violent streak got him enrolled into Mishima Polytechnical as Heihachi witnessed him singlehandedly defeat an entourage of his security guards. Also, Minazuki does not like Heihachi at all and doesn't know that Reina is Heihachi's daughter.

What do they wear?: When in school, he wears the Mishima Polytechnical Uniform due to the dress code. In a sanctioned fight, he wears a forest green Kyokushin Karate Gi with an open sleeve. (Depends on Minazuki himself) In casual situations or random encounters (and when he gets kicked out of his dojo), Minazuki wears a casual blue jacket with a dark blue T-shirt underneath. He wears regular jeans with white high-top sneakers. On his hands are wraps with sparring gloves and feet protectors with his gi. He has them on his person in case he gets into a fight at school.

Favorite color: Blue

What are they good at? Based on the previous answers, Minazuki is a Judan in Kyokushin Karate but eventually likes boxing after getting kicked out. He's also one of the most decorated students in Mishima Polytechnical, to the point where he is invited to study abroad.

What are they bad at?: Minazuki is two-faced. He's silent and keeps to himself. To Reina, he's respectful and friendly. With enemies or when he's angered, Minazuki tends to act on his stand-up morals, often leading to him getting into trouble.

What do they want?: He wants to graduate and learn why Heihachi is interested in him.

What is their goal?: Continue to grow his friendship with the enigmatic Reina.

What lie do they believe?: He won't learn enough about Reina. I'll never understand why Heihachi wants him so close to him or Reina.

What flaw results from the lie?: He tends to have numerous enemies in school, especially among the other martial artists, save for Xiaoyu or Jin. (The former sees Minazuki as a senpai. While not having many interactions, Jin and Minazuki have respect for each other)

What truth do they learn?: The reasons why Reina befriended him and the reason why Heihachi enrolled him in the school.

What is their background?

Minazuki Hirose was like any other Japanese Student. He lived with his mother in a modest apartment as she worked herself to the bone to provide for them. Minazuki does his part by doing well in school and spends his free time better by taking up Kyokushin Karate. Being a natural prodigy in the Discipline, he was a Schichi Dan (7th Dan) by the age of seventeen.

However, with his skill in martial arts came a violent side. It only comes out when Minazuki is furious, or one of his friends or mother is wronged. That very anger is what, fortunately (or unfortunately, in Minazuki's eyes) caught the attention of Heihachi Mishima.

You see, one of his guards robbed a kid while Minazuki was walking to school. Wanting to do the right thing, he told the boy he'd get his money back. Attacking the guardsman and dragging him into an alley, Minazuki beat the snot out of the poor man. Brushing off the man's warnings, Minazuki demanded he give him the money he took. When the guard defied him, Minazuki brutalized his face before taking all the money in the man's wallet in addition to what he stole. Giving the money back to the kid, he rushed to school. But the guard was right. Shortly after leaving the guard to lick his wounds, he called Heihachi.

After reluctantly explaining what happened to him, Heihachi took an interest in the teen. Life for Minazuki continued for a few days until he noticed someone following him home. He eventually walked back to that same alleyway where, upon turning, four more guards appeared. Concluding they were here to teach him a lesson, Minazuki retaliated by attacking and defeating them singlehandedly. He then went home, not noticing a limo with one-way tints housing one Heihachi Mishima inside saw the entire encounter.

He knew what he had to do.

It took just two calls for Minazuki's life to derail completely. The first was to send Minazuki to the office of his then-school principal and mother. The second was to provide that same school with a large budget if they expelled Minazuki immediately. And it didn't take much more convincing despite Minazuki and his mother's protests.

When they arrived at their small apartment, they noticed a limo outside the parking lot and various members of the Tekken Force strewn about the complex. When they arrived at their number and entered, he sat on their couch. Heihachi Mishima. He explained that his guard told him everything. Mishima applauded Minazuki for defending a kid he didn't know. Minazuki then asked him why he had expelled him for no reason. Mishima expressed an interest in the boy's martial skill by detailing his defeat of one guard and subsequent beating of the other four. He notes Minazuki is quite intelligent and is here to offer him and his mother an offer - to provide his mother with the money she desperately needs and allow him to study abroad if he enrolls in Mishima Polytechnical. Heihachi even offers to pay for his tuition until he graduates. Smart enough to know that he has no choice, Minazuki accepts.

Additional Questions for Minazuki Hirose?

Will Minazuki interact with other Tekken characters besides Heihachi, Reina, Xiao, and Jin?

I feel like it ain't a Tekken story if he doesn't interact with a good chunk of the cast. Who I don't know but I have a couple of guarantees. Tae Kwon Do Girl (known by the fan name Shuwamei) and Female Tekken Force Soldier, both of which are either concept (the latter.) or unreleased because of a sudden discontinuation (Shuwamei).

What will this tale reveal about Minazuki?

Hopefully, Minazuki's status as the protagonist will reveal that despite many people trying to deter him or trying to be bad influences (Heihachi and, to an extent, Reina), he will stay true to his good-natured personality and great morals.

Does this tale take place within Tekken canonically? Or is this purely original?

I don't know what you mean exactly with the wording of the question, but if you mean to ask if the story is going to take place in the main continuity or an AU, then the answer is the former. Tekken's Verse is insane enough that an AU would be doing the series a disservice in my opinion.
