Lost In Purple

Chapter 10: The Homecoming Game

Johnny and I talk the whole drive back to campus. I mentioned the scare variations that Bruiser and I have been learning about this week and he talks about how that was his favorite part of Scaring 101. He says his go to scares are of the demonic variations which isn't surprising since he looks like a demon himself. The part that is surprising to me, is that demonic variations of roars tend to damage the vocal tracts of the majority of scarers and are usually never used in scaring. For him to say he can easily do them is beyond me. He excels in scares that require larynx asymmetry and twisting motions of the voice which makes me respect him even more than before. Apparently these kinds of techniques produce disturbingly earth-shaking frequencies that are unlike anything most monsters can do.

"So you're saying you have many different kinds of demonic roars?" I ask.

"Yep," Johnny says with arrogance.

"Really? Name a couple," I say crossing both of my arms, trying to catch him in a lie.

"Well there's the basic Demon Roars, what's called a Cult Roar, Gutturals, Pig Squeals, Raptor Gurgles, Zombie Screams, … Uh, that's all I can think of right now," Johnny says counting his examples of his fingers.

"Hehe, it kind of sounds like you're a Death Metal vocalist," I joke.

Johnny laughs back and nods his head in agreement. "I mean I did listen to a lot of that stuff back in high school, so that might be why I'm one of the few scarers that found enough motivation to do them in general."

"Whaaaat? You're saying the great Johnny Worthington, the richest of all rich boys, listened to Death Metal and not Classical?" I question with shock.

"Oh no I did, ever since I was little I've always listened to symphonies play from around the world. I was just fascinated by the extremities of Death Metal and the euphoria I get when listening to basic Rock music. I'll be honest with you too, my parents weren't thrilled when they caught me listening to it. They thought I was going to rebel and all that junk, but I proved them wrong pretty quickly," Johnny explains.

"Did they cling to the incorrect stereotype of labeling you as a satanic worshipper or something?" I ask with a chuckle.

"Pretty much. It was kind of demoralizing when they would say that because I was just like every other monster. I wasn't angry at the world or anything, I just liked the rush I would get when hearing musicians push themselves to the limit. For me, it fueled my personal fire to become a scarer because I knew I would have to push myself to be a great scarer one day, so I just learned how to do what they did and the rest is history. But to be clear, I'm not in anyway shape or form a musician," Johnny answers.

"That's good. I don't think I'd ever want you to be someone you're not," I smile.

"Thanks freshman. But since we're on this topic, what about you? What scares do you enjoy the most?" Johnny asks, finally turning into Frat Row. He speeds up a little and drives into the driveway behind the rest of the RORs who are in the Roar Rover. They then both effortlessly park in the garage.

"Ummm...It's a little difficult for me to confidently say for sure," I say bringing my pointer finger up to my mouth.

I see Johnny hop out of the car and I start to do the same. I check to make sure I have all my stuff only to see Johnny opening the passenger side door and helping me out of the car.

"There's no shame if you haven't found your strength yet, but if you had to choose one, what would it be?" Johnny questions.

"Well my professors say I've always been good at Paranormal Scares," I reply.

Johnny's eyes widen and does a double take. Javier, Chip, and Chet also look over at me in complete astonishment.

"Paranormal Scares?" Chip asks.

I nod my head, confused as to why those four have gone silent. "I'm impressed freshman," Johnny says with a smirk.

"What kinds can you do Miss Everett?" Javier asks with his hands behind his back. Sullivan and Bruiser stand there looking like they're confused just as much as I am. They look at each other and shrug.

"U-um... Banshee Wails, Silent Rictus Grins, Stiff Walks, Spider Crawls, Unsettling Muscle Spasms, Undead Croaks, and Unconventional Jump Scares," I reply embarrassed.

"Dios mío," Javier says putting all four of his hands on the top of his head.

"I'm sorry, I'm a little confused. Why are you all so surprised about this?" I question scratching my head.

"Cause it's badass freshman. Scaring programs aren't even teaching those techniques anymore because of how difficult those scares are to put in action. In other words, all of those are techniques that can only be self-taught," Johnny discloses while crossing his arms.

"I think we're gonna have to arrive early for the scare finals, Señor Johnny. I would like to see Miss Everett pull off a scare like that," Javier confesses.

Johnny sighs. "Unfortunately that's going to depend on what theoretical child Professor Knight conjures up for her to scare. Hopefully it won't be something simple like a stage three hellhound snarl," Johnny utters.

"Anyways, that's good to know freshman. I look forward to seeing you scare. For now, let's rest before going to the game. We're going to need our voices for tonight since we're against Fear Tech," Johnny concludes.

All the RORs find their way into the house. Chet and Sullivan go upstairs to their rooms while everyone else decides to chill out in the main room. Javier and Chip take their places back onto the couch to the right of the fireplace, while Johnny and I take the opposite couch. Bruiser just sits happily on the ground next to Chip. It's really funny seeing it be so tranquil in here after the floor was flooded with students dancing drunkenly about a month ago. However, that's in the past. So I lower myself into a laying position on the couch, facing towards the fireplace, and pull out my sketchbook. The RORs start talking about football extensively, but I have no interest in taking part in the conversation. I turn the pages and end up on the page with the landscape I drew earlier today. Even a couple hours later, I'm still happy with how it turned out. I think I'll paint it someday and hang it up somewhere.

A few hours pass and we're close to leaving for the Homecoming football game. I decided while relaxing on the red velvet couch to draw Johnny. He looks like such a rich boy when he's reading a book with his legs crossed, and the fire reflects off his eyes like glass. I make sure to capture the wall behind him in absolute detail. The ROR plaque partially shows itself within the portrait, and proceed to add some texture to the stone wall that it's placed upon. I also sketch out the mini statuettes that rest atop the fireplace, and a couple of books that couldn't be placed in any of the bookshelves in this house. He looks handsome like this.

"Yo Johnny, it's almost five o' clock," Chip announces after setting down a hand of playing cards he was using against Bruiser. I don't know if it was Poker, Blackjack, or War, but they were engrossed in playing for around two and half hours.

Johnny looks up from his book only to look back down and finish the line he was reading. "Alright, let's grab Sullivan and Chet and we'll be on our way," he says deeply.

Chip heads towards the stairs, presumably to grab the two RORs who were better off alone this afternoon. I shut my sketchbook and throw it into my bag while Bruiser hops up from the floor and walks over to me. "Miss Melanie Miss Melanie, would you sit next to me at the game?" He asks jumping up and down hyperactively. I just nod at a high speed with a big smile when I stand up from the couch.

"We should probably just head there right away Señor. I expect the stadium to be full if we don't get there early enough," Javier says to Johnny.

"Good call, we don't want to be up in the nosebleeds like last year," Johnny approves.

"Are you saying it's going to be full?" I ask.

Bruiser laughs. I must sound really stupid when I talk about sports. "Miss Melanie its the MU team against Fear Tech. Of course, it'll be busy."

"Since it's your first football game, its probably a good idea to get as close to the field as possible. The closer we are the more fun we'll have together," Johnny winks.

"OK, sounds good," I say putting my hands behind my back and shifting my weight to the backs of my paws, "I think it'll be funny hearing Bruiser yell anyways."

Bruiser lets out another goofy laugh with a couple snorts here and there. He winds up for two playful punches but I grab them before they land. We end up in a hilarious scuffle that you would normally see in sibling relationships between the oldest and youngest. I can say Bruiser become more of a brother to me anyways so I guess it's not too weird.

Johnny chuckles as he watches us, but his expression changes to slight anger and screams, "CHIP! CHET! SULLEY! WE'RE ABOUT TO LEAVE YOU BEHIND!"

"Patience Señor. They'll be here in a second. Geez," Javier sneers.

"Ugh... I would be happier if it was us four at this point. I'm tired of waiting for them every single time we do something," Johnny growls back while crossing his arms. That was an usual outburst on his part. Usually he's cool-headed and suave.

"Are you usually this inpatient horns? Or are you just excited to get rid of me?" I joke still having a battle with Bruiser.

"What did you just call me?" Johnny smirks with his brows furrowed.

Bruiser lets go of my hands and stops pushing. I turn towards him and say, "Horns. Don't tell me I need to show you where those are you big baby."

Bruiser starts cackling after realizing what I just said. He points at Johnny only to never speak a word because he can't stop from inhaling and exhaling rapidly. He sends Javier and I into a laughing fit as well. However, Javier tries to hide his laughter by putting a fist to his mouth and staying as normal as he possibly can. Johnny brings a hand up to one of his horns while looking down at the floor unsure of whether to laugh or not. "I-I,uh," he stutters.

"You caught him off-guard dama de la luna," Javier adds.

"I mean he kind of walked into that one didn't he," I say with my hand to my chest. It kind of hurts from laughing this much. I never expected Bruiser's laugh to be this entertaining.

At that moment a bunch of loud thumps come from the upper hallway upstairs. "Johnny wait! DON'T LEAVE MEEEEEEE!" Chet shrieks. I see Chip and Sullivan heading towards the front door giving us a signal to leave. Their attention then shifts towards the thumps that are replaced with thunderous booms and bangs. Chip and Sullivan nearly fall over because they start laughing so hard. Chet then sprints out the door with his hat in his hand.

Johnny power walks over to Chip. "What the hell just happened?"

Chip has a hard time catching his breath for a few seconds but is eventually able to get out a couple words. "Chet totally just fell down the stairs. I went to get him first and found him sleeping, but he nearly pissed himself when he heard you say that you going to leave him behind and he couldn't find his hat."

I saunter over to Johnny's side. "See, this is what happens when you're not patient. Everything spirals into chaos," I say smiling and walk out the front door.

I look up and see day is still present as the sun shines bright and the ground is basking in its glory. Chet is out on the front lawn looking around aimlessly which I find very cute. "We're right behind you Chet," I chuckle.

"What? I thought you and Johnny left already," he babbles.

"No, your president was just being impatient. Are you okay, you didn't hurt yourself did you?" I ask after turning on my motherly switch and sitting down on my knees.

Chet does his normal maniacal laugh and throws his hat on his head. "Yeah! I mean I did pull one of my legs on the way down, but it doesn't hurt that much."

"Aww, I'm sorry. I'll be sure to get revenge on Johnny for you," I whimper while giving Chet a hug.

"Hehehe, thanks Melanie!" Chet hollers after hugging me back. I was expecting his claws to be very heavy when they wrapped around my neck, but they were actually pretty light. I guess he's one of those monsters that doesn't pack much of a punch, which is good because I don't need to be involved in more fights.

I hear Johnny walk up behind me. I feel him lean down and put his head close to my ear in an act of clairvoyance. "You're going to get revenge on me? Now come on freshman, don't tell me you're wanting to hurt your favorite senior?"

I can feel his arrogance with each word he says. I let go of Chet and send a fist soaring into Johnny's chest which makes a hollow thump.

"OW! What the he-"

I wrap my arms around Johnny and hug him like my life depends on it, cause it kind of does. He could snap me like a twig if he really wanted to, and I can't really say for sure if I crossed that line or not.

"Sorry! I promised him I would," I sing.

Johnny just exhales heavily, most likely releasing all the rage that I forced him to generate. His tone changes when he growls playfully, picks me up, and spins around with me trapped in his arms. I scream for help from Javier who just stands on the front staircase watching us act like children. "You're lucky I like you freshman! I would have chased you down the street if I didn't!" Johnny taunts.

"Why don't you save that for another day Señor, we have to get going." Javier states. Thank god, I'm laughing hysterically and can't breathe.

"Like I said, lucky." Johnny sets me down and winks with an arrogant smile radiantly shining across his face. "Come on, we're walking to the stadium," he says gesturing to follow him.

I follow the crowd of RORs, anxiously hoping to avoid talking about what just happened between Johnny and I. I'll be honest, it was embarrassing for me and wish nobody was around to witness that. Maybe I should have given it better thought before instigating Johnny's split second anger. I stay at the back of the group and observe all of the best scarers on campus and see that they're all pretty much normal college boys. They push each other around and laugh at each other likes boys normally do. Faust was wrong when he said to stay away from these guys, there's nothing wrong with getting to know them. It was almost hypocritical for him to say since the only problems I've seen are from the JOX. They've been toxic about pointless games like beer pong, starting brawls next to the amphitheater, and wrongfully slandering the RORs.

We slowly pass through the eastern part of campus. We walk by basketball courts, tennis courts, golf courses, and more. The stadium comes into view where many monsters are tailgating for the game, all dressed up in their blue MU jerseys. My attention is pulled towards Johnny as he walks with his normal swagger. His head turns left and right as he talks to Javier and Chip about many things I don't care to listen in on. His regal smile contagiously makes me smile, but it disappears once I notice Sullivan walk up next to me with his hands in his front pockets.

"I wasn't expecting you to come along with us Melanie. Will you and I be having fun together or has someone else called dibs?" Sullivan asks.

Yeah that totally didn't sound like he was objectifying me. Dibs? I'm not something you can just claim or own. I'm not surprised to hear this since Sullivan was on his phone, carelessly not listening to our conversation about this when we were eating lunch. Bruiser clearly said he wanted to sit next to me, but I guess that's what happens when you don't care.

"Bruiser asked to sit next to me at lunch, so yes, someone has already 'called dibs,'" I respond bringing two fingers up and air quoting.

"That's a shame. But you can't blame a guy for trying. The offer for me to take you out is still on the table, so I know I have other chances," Sullivan utters sounding creepy instead of charming. I look down while crossing my arms and hope that he'll leave me alone.

Johnny looks back at me and gives me a warm smile, but it fades when he sees Sullivan mindlessly walking alongside me.

The stadium is another beautiful building I've come to love on campus. The sides of it are lathered in blue MU banners and filled with students wearing the school colors. The walls that line the field are even filled with banners that cheer on the MU team. It's kind of funny seeing one half of the stadium be majority blue and the other half being majority orange. It's almost like both schools are appalled to be in each others presence and make the decision to hate each other for all eternity. Faust always described this to me in high school and I never understood it. I guess this is a little different though since it's college.

We split up into two rows near the bottom middle and rearrange a little. Chip, Johnny, Sullivan, and Javier take the upper row while myself, Chet, and Bruiser take the bottom row. I was afraid Bruiser would be a little upset since we're not technically next to each other, but he seemed fine with it. What's better is that Johnny said he and Chip will keep an eye on me since it's my first football game and that people can get a little too crazy, so that makes me feel a little safer.

Everyone on the MU side of the stadium stands up and wildly cheers when they come running out. The same happens for the Fear Tech side when their team dashes out. It's a little confusing because there's a uneven variation in size when looking at the football players. There's super small players, normal sized players, and then monsters as big as a tree which kind of trivializes the usefulness of the smaller players...I don't know I might be overthinking it.

The stadium is sonorous as they cheer for an hour straight. Both teams haven't been able to score against each other yet and there's a constant flow of excited screaming for the MU team and oppositional howling for the Fear Tech team. There's eventually a point where the marching band starts playing their instruments to pump everyone up and the cheerleaders come out as well yelling "GO MONSTERS U!"

A small monster from the MU team with tiny legs and an eye stock catches the ball, that the... uh... quarterback I think it's called, throws. He runs forward only to be clotheslined by a Fear Tech player that's normal sized, who's then clotheslined by a ginormous slug with no emotion from the MU team which scores a touchdown. All of the Fear Tech team members are on his back as he knocks over the large yellow goalpost. Yeah, that's what I meant when I said that players like that trivialize the other small ones but whatever. Everyone on the MU side goes wild and throws their fists into the air. Johnny fist pumps downwards and harmonizes with all the other RORs who have an ecstatic look on their faces. I also see what Johnny meant when he said things can get a little crazy because popcorn goes flying everywhere and red solo cups rain down from the heavens. I notice that Mike and Randall, who I met briefly a couple weeks ago, are just two rows below us and get showered in all sorts of food and drink. What's odd about them though is that they're studying...in a loud stadium...where football is being played. You would think they'd go study in the library or something.

The game goes on like that for another half an hour before half time rolls around. All the teams go back from whence they came and many monsters leave their seats to go get food or more alcohol disguised as soda or water.

"You doing alright freshman?" Johnny asks from behind me.

"Yeah, I just have no idea what's going on. I've never watched football before," I answer.

All the RORs look over to me like I'm insane. "YOU HAVEN"T WATCHED FOOTBALL BEFORE?" Chet and Chip exclaim.

I partially recoil. "N-no, I don't. I never had to play it in school, and my parents didn't own a TV until I was in middle school, so I have no idea how it's even supposed to be played."

Johnny has Chip and I switch spots so that I'm next to him. "Well, for starters, 'Monstropolitan' football is all about carrying the football into the opposing teams end zone," he says pointing to each end of the stadium. "Players do that by taking possession of the ball when on offense and have four attempts, which are called downs, to advance 10 yards towards their opponents end zone. When on offense, advancing 10 yards gets a first down, and if they don't advance that far on their first it becomes second down. It continues until offense either scores or fails to advance on their fourth down. Then the teams switch sides and the opposite team has a chance at scoring," Johnny explains professionally.

"We've been watching football ever since we were babies, so we have a deep understanding of it," Chip chimes in.

"You don't need to know anything more than that though Miss Everett. Everything else becomes a little more complicated the deeper you go. You'll only ever really need to pay attention to which team is on offense and which team is on defense," Javier adds.

"Ok. I think I understand," I remark.

"Good, hopefully we'll hear you cheering with us for the next hour," Johnny winks.

"Sure. But before I do that, I'm gonna need a drink. I'll be right back." I retort.

"I'll go with you, a drink will definitely hit the spot," Sullivan declares. Great, can't wait for him to try and flirt with me again.

"Are you sure? I can go get it for you," Johnny says with a subtle amount of worry that I only seem to pick up on.

"I already told you horns, I can handle myself," I say putting my hand to my heart.

I shimmy around Johnny cautiously and end up getting stopped by Javier. "Amiga, If he does anything or say anything sketchy, tell me," he whispers. I nod and mouth the word 'Ok' as I step into the stairwell and ascend with Sullivan to the food and drink stands.

"You know, you and I can go out and eat somewhere if you're not having fun. I'd rather you enjoy yourself instead of pretending to like what the other guys like," Sullivan spouts.

Alright, there we go. I don't care anymore. That was extremely rude to assume that I don't like his fraternity brothers or what they do, and I hate how Sullivan is disgustingly arrogant, lazy, unclean, and selfish. I just sprint up the stairs and leave Sullivan behind. I also feel a sharp pain hit the side of my head as I climb the last step. Awesome, here comes another headache.

I turn into the stadium halls and find a concession stand with cheap snacks and drinks. After waiting about 10 minutes, I order two soft pretzels with extra salt and a large water. The cashier has me hand over six dollars and I leave the concession stands in a hurry.

Before I turn back into the stairwell, I hear my name. "Little Miss Melody!"

It's Faust strolling through the stadium with who I assume to be one of his buddies. They're both in blue MU jerseys and have blue face paint along their eye sockets. His buddy is someone I haven't met yet since he's a small, orange, flying monster with wings like a bat and legs like a fuzzy spider. "Do my eyes deceive me? Are you actually here at a football game?" He asks putting his hands on his hips.

"Y-yeah. A, uh, classmate invited me here," I stutter while trying to balance the three items in my hand.

"Really? Who? Do I know this friend?" Faust asks narrowing his eyes.

"I don't know. His name is Mike," I lie. Hopefully Faust won't try and confirm this with him because I barely know him.

"Hmmm... doesn't ring a bell. Oh well, doesn't matter. Melody, this is Omar, he's in the JOX with me," Faust introduces.

I bow to him, and he just smiles wide while giving me a wave with his creepy looking appendage. His teeth are also something straight out of a horror film and would like to never see them again for the rest of my life.

"Are you enjoying the game so far? I hope all my stories from high school haven't made you nervous or uninterested in these kinds of events," Faust questions.

"Yeah, it's alright. As you know I've never really watched football before so I had to have it be explained to me. I get the appeal now though, it's pretty fun screaming your head off at things like this," I laugh.

"That's the spirit. I'm glad your doing something you wouldn't normally do. Maybe I can get you to come to a JOX party soon then," Faust ponders.

You know I'm getting real tired of guys inviting me to do things I don't care for. Can't I just live my life the way I want to.

"Maybe one day Faust. Anyways, I should get back before I drop everything and end up wasting six dollars," I state impatiently while headed back out to the stands.

"O-ok, uh, I'm proud of you Melody! I'll see you later! Oh, and you should introduce me to this friend of yours, I'd like to meet him!" Faust hollers.

Yeah that's not going to happen. Not only is Mike not actually a good friend of mine, but I don't think he enjoys talking to fraternity members in general. I ended up eavesdropping on him last week and he said he had to prove to all the fraternities that he was a better scarer than them and what not. While I don't quite have a huge amount of confidence in him, I can say I'm definitely inspired by him.

I stride down the stairs until I arrive at the row Javier is sitting at. "There you are dama de la luna... where's Señor Sullivan?" He asks.

"He tried to get me to leave you guys with him. He also assumed that I hate you guys, which felt insulting, so I just left him behind," I whisper.

Javier narrows his eyes and whispers back, "You're not lying to me are you?"

"God no. That would be literal suicide on my part," I respond.

"Hmm... alright I'll have a talk with him later tonight. Just stay away from him ok," Javier instructs.

I nod and pass him a pretzel. "What's this?" He asks.

"I got you a pretzel as thanks for keeping an eye on me. If you don't want it you can give it to Bruiser, I'm sure he'll inhale it," I smile.

"Gracias mi amiga. I appreciate it," Javier beams.

I shimmy my way around Javier and back to Johnny who's talking to the monsters next to him. I don't want to awkwardly walk in front of their conversation so I just set up camp to his left and begin chowing down on my pretzel. Javier shuffles next to me and elbows my side. "I'll be between you and Sullivan so don't worry about him." I give him a thumbs up as he starts conversing with Chet and Bruiser in the row below us. Johnny eventually concludes the conversation and turns his attention back to me.

"Back already freshman?" He interrogates.

"Yeah, I just got a pretzel and some water. You want a piece?" I offer.

"Sure, I didn't know they even sold pretzels," Johnny chuckles.

I split the pretzel in half and hand it to him gently. He takes his pointer finger and thumb, and grasps onto the pretzel. He opens his mouth and shoves the whole thing in his mouth as if it was a pill. "Mmm, kind a salty," He muffles.

"Oh sorry, I forgot to mention I put extra salt on it. I like how it melts in my mouth and makes my mouth water when eating them," I giggle.

"That's ok, it was better than it being just cooked bread," he responds.

"I'm assuming you've had better," I predict.

"Yep. I mean I do usually eat them with cheese, so that might be why it didn't impress me," Johnny smirks.

Right as he finishes his sentence, the MU marching band comes out from the sidelines and puts on a spectacular show. They flawlessly change their positions to spell out MU with their bodies and proceed to makes various other shapes as their performance goes on. Their playing is also perfect since I don't hear a single sour or out of place note. The cheerleaders then rush out to the middle and do their cheerleading things. The performance continues on for about 20 minutes before they finally conclude their carefully built presentation.

The football game resumes and everyone's back on their feet for the suspenseful end to the game. I become personally invested in the game as both teams switch off scoring and become tied as the suns sets. The stadium lights twinkle down onto the field when both teams are at 49 points and the final play of the night is initiated. MU is on offense and is 50 yards from the end zone. The ball is snapped and thrown to a small monster about 20 yards away from the end zone. Everyone holds their breath as he bolts to the end of the stadium.

"GO! GO!" Chip screams with his hands over his head.

A larger player dives for his waist but ends up faceplanting into the ground, and the small monster scores the winning touchdown. The MU side of the stadium spirals into absolute pandemonium as things rocket up into the air, and monsters start jumping up and down violently. Johnny grabs me from the side and picks me up while screaming himself. It was amazing to see electric atmosphere as the players dogpile onto the poor small monster who won them the game.

After about 20 minutes, half the stadium has cleared out and things are much quieter. I feel a lot of pressure within my skull which is most likely a side effect from being exposed to such loud circumstances.

"How was the game Miss Melanie?" Bruiser asks from the row below.

"It was so fun!" I squeal, "When's the next one?"

"Unfortunately all the games take place at around one o'clock. Most of us are in class at that point so if you want to go to more it'll be only you and Bruiser," Johnny discloses.

"Aww, that's too bad. It probably wouldn't be as much fun without all of you here," I say consoling myself.

All the RORs laugh. "We'll be around for other things. And who knows, maybe there will be a day where we have no classes and we can come watch another game," Chip adds.

"Yep. I for one hope to go to a professional one. It's been too long since I last was at one and it's way more fun than this," Johnny proclaims.

It takes the stadium a couple more minutes to clear out a bit more, and all the RORs are ready to leave.

"Javier, you take the rest of the guys home. I'll take the freshman back to her dorm," Johnny directs.

"Aww, she can't stay a little longer?" Sullivan asks.

"No. She has scaring to study for just like you. And by the way, you and I are going to have a talk about your behavior today," Johnny scolds. Javier must have told him about what he said to me at half time. I thank the heavens that I won't be around Sullivan when he gets berated, cause I sure would hate to be him right now. Javier pulls Sullivan away from Johnny and I, which allows Chet, Chip, and Bruiser to say goodbye to me. I make sure to tell them that I'll see them again soon.

Johnny and I slowly walk along the amphitheater road before we part our ways. Just like when we walked here after the party last month, the night feels pretty sketchy. Especially since the leaves all around us are rustling in the cool breeze. It feels like someone could easily stalk me or attempt to kill me, but luckily I have the biggest and scariest monster on campus to guard me.

"Hey you're not going to punish Sullivan are you?" I ask.

"Oh I am. He was an absolute child today," he admits.

"Well, I can't say he doesn't deserve it. I really do stand by what I said earlier, he's incredibly lazy," I add.

"I know. That's why I think we're going to kick him out if he doesn't shape up. I can't have a complacent member in the fraternity who can barely be a scarer, let alone a good person," Johnny analyzes.

"I mean... I don't know if I would go that far, but I don't really talk to him so..." I remark.

We eventually find our way to the Dormitory entrance just like last month. A couple of girls say hello to Johnny and he says hello back with his usual suave nature. He turns back towards me and utters, "It was fun today freshman."

"I agree. I hope to do it again sometime," I respond acting like I didn't just feel another pain drive itself into my frontal lobe.

Johnny chuckles as he walks backwards with some swagger. "I'll look forward to it."

"You'd better!" I scream back.

Johnny waves and begins walking back to the amphitheater alone. I open the dormitory doors and head up to my room for a refreshing night of sleep. Cause I just know I'm going to need it.
