Chapter 5: Chrysalis:

Twilight's POV:

It was my turn for monitor duty. I was looking throughout the base when I noticed something. It looked like Jack attacking someone.

"What?"

I then called an emergency meeting.

. . .

I showed my team the footage.

"That does look like you," Miko says to Jack, "creepy."

"There has to be a rational explanation, right," Raf asks.

"We'll have to get to the bottom of it," says Duke.

Then there was a knock on the door. Duke answered. It was Sargeant Savage.

"Robert, what can I do for you," asks Duke.

"What's the big idea," asks Savage, "one of your guys attacked one of my own!"

"Robert, I don't know what to tell you," says Duke, "it has to be a... of course."

"What," asks Savage.

"It has to be Zartan. He has a suit that allows him to impersonate anyone."

"How can he enter the base," I asked.

"Good question," says Duke.

"Your words do make some sense," says Savage, "I'll get one of my guys, Mr. Green to help."

. . .

We were checking the spot of the attack with Mr. Green.

"You know, this reminds me of when my friend, Mr. Body was murdered. It turned out to be Miss Scarlet with a knife in his bedroom."

"So, Mr. Green," says Twilight, "you have a first name?"

"Don't we all? My First Name is Ahigo. My brother is General Tahoma Green."

"Your brother's a general, wow."

"My Father's an Archaeologist."

"Boring."

"Miko! How did Zartan get in," asks Jack, "and why did he disguise as me?"

"Good question," says Mr. Green, "after all, Duke probably would've made more sense. Or maybe one of his old friends."

"That's right," says Duke.

"Where's Dr. Robertson," asks Raf.

"He's at the lab," says Brightmore.

Then we heard a scream and went over to the source and saw a woman on the ground and Dr. Robertson standing next to her.

"Robertson, what are you..." Duke started, but Dr. Robertson ran off.

We gave chase and when we saw him, Miko attacked him.

"What's going on," asks Dr. Robertson.

"That's what we'd like to know," says Duke.

"Dr. Robertson, did you attack anyone," I asked.

"I was in the lab."

"It had to have been Zartan."

Then Savage came with a guy that looked like a wrestler.

"Sargeant Savage and Sargeant Slaughter," says Duke, "we're still on the case."

"About that," says Savage, "apparently Zartan's still in his cell."

"What?"

"There has to be an explanation," I said.

"Maybe Zartan has siblings," suggests Miko.

"I'll talk to the director about getting this place on lockdown," says Duke.

. . .

I was back at the computer with Spike. Something just wasn't right.

"You guys should've brought me," says Spike, "I could've sniffed the imposter out."

"But what are we dealing with," I said, "clones?"

Then I saw what looked like me walking down the halls.

"Come on!"

. . .

Spike and I followed the imposter and then we found some strange slimy substance.

"What is..." I started.

"Over here," says Spike.

We entered a room I have never seen before.

"What is this place," I asked.

We found a computer and Spike pressed a button. A girl appeared on the screen.

"My name is Megan Williams," she said, "Day 1. I was working on a project that could combine human DNA with the DNA of an insect. I used my own DNA. It started out in its larval stage. Day 2. My experiment gained a random ability. It can shapeshift. It can look like anyone it chooses. Day 5..."

"What about 3 and 4," asks Spike.

"... I decided my creation needed a name. I then chose the perfect name. Chrysalis. She became like a daughter to me. Day 10. Something has been attacking my colleagues. There's a rumor that Chrysalis has been doing it. But I refuse to believe it. Day 15. Everything seems... Wait, Chrysalis, what are you..."

The tape ends.

"Are you scared too," asks Spike.

"Spike, I just realized. We're alone and there's a shapeshifter out there. She could be anyone!"

"Wow I wish I was wearing pants right now."

. . .

Spike and I were walking. We weren't sure who to trust. Anyone could be Chrysalis. Then I remembered what Spike said.

"Spike, start sniffing."

Spike starts sniffing until he gets to Miko. "This is not Miko!"

"We need to talk, Chrysalis," I said.

Miko then had creepy eyes and started walking on the walls and entered a vent. The real Miko then came.

"What I miss?"

. . .

"Now we know what we're dealing with," says Duke, "keep an eye out for this Chrysalis."

"I say we avoid splitting up," says Miko, "I've seen enough horror movies to know that."

"Agreed," says Duke, "we stick together."

. . .

We were walking through the halls. We were all on our guards. Then there was a sound.

"Did anyone else heaaar that," asks Brightmore.

Then the lights started flashing and something was attacking us until I was left.

"Listen," I said, "I know you're scared. We can help you."

Then I heard a laughter and finally, Chrysalis was in front of me in her true form.

"You think that is what this is about?"

"Why are you doing this?"

"I'm not some poor soul that afraid of myself. I'm doing this because I want to. My creator thought of me as her child, but I am in fact a monster and I love it!"

"We will stop you!"

"Don't make me laugh." Chrysalis then turned into a rhino, and I was forced to run.

It wasn't easy running from a rhino, but I managed to run until I got to the room where I learned about Chrysalis. It occurred to me, why are we dealing with her now? Then I saw an open chamber. She must've been imprisoned in that chamber, and she must've found a way out. Then I heard something was coming. I turned around and it was Spike.

"We gotta get out of here," says Spike, "that thing is still out there!"

"Maybe you're right," I said, "we can call my friend, Moondancer."

"Good idea."

"I don't know any Moondancer!"

I then picked up the fake Spike and he started to turn back into Chrysalis. As she tried to bite my face, I threw her back into the chamber and turned it on, freezing her.

. . .

We were all gathered with the director.

"This used to be a research facility and Megan Williams was one of our best scientists," says Mr. Flagg.

"How did she get out," asks Raf.

"I have a theory," says Mr. Flagg, "I think this might have been because of the time Evox attacked."

"That makes sense," says Duke, "well now, she's on ice. Good job Twilight."

"Thanks," I said, "I just hope that's it."

. . .

At the time, none of us knew it, but in the basement, there were eggs. Lots of eggs.

Mr. Green came from the game Clue. Mr. Green is basically the Uncle of Kai Green. Megan Williams is from the original My Little Pony series. In the next chapter, the team gets trapped in a strange world with strange chutes and ladders.
