Chapter 24: The Ring of Fire:

Raf's POV:

I was in the gym practicing my maximal powers. We still don't know a lot about where I came from. I mean, Cybertron would probably be a good answer, but I mean, how did I come into existence? I could ask my mom, but how do I do that without revealing the existence of Unit: E or the Transformers? Besides, we've got other things to worry about, like Evox. Then the alarm went off and Duke came in.

"We got another mission," says Duke.

. . .

"Evox's goons have been spotted at a volcano known as the 'Ring of Fire'," says Director Flag, "we still don't know what they're up to."

"Whatever it is, we'll stop it," says Duke, "let's move!"

. . .

We were on our way to the Ring of Fire.

"Anything about this Ring," asks Miko.

"Apparently, a meteorite fell into it, thousands of years ago," says Twilight.

"There it is," says Jack.

We saw the Ring of Fire, but then we were hit by an attack. I took a look.

"Army Ants," I said, then it dons on me, "wait, Army Ants can fly?"

We were being attacked by air born Army Ants.

"Brightmore, we're going to need some help!"

"Well, I say - Three-Eyed Dragonfly!"

Three-Eyed Dragonfly then comes out and fights against the Army Ants.

"We should use that bug more often," says Duke.

"Especially since the jet's been badly damaged," says Dr. Robertson.

We then crashed into the island.

. . .

I then woke up and saw I was alone.

"Jack? Miko? Anyone?"

Then there was something in the bushes.

"I'm warning you," I said, "I can fire energy beams from my hands!"

It turns out to be Spike.

"Spike? Where are the others?"

"I don't know. I'm glad I found someone."

"Let's move," I said, "we can find the others and stop Evox's goons."

. . .

Spike and I were walking through the jungle, looking for our team. Spike was sniffing for them, but everything in this jungle smells the same to him.

"I think I got something different," says Spike, "it's... cabbages?"

"Cabbages?"

There was in fact, a cabbage patch.

"That's... new," I said.

"I'm usually a steak kind of dog," says Spike.

But then something came out of the cabbages, they looked like kids. One of them said something I couldn't understand, but they captured us.

. . .

These weird people took us to their village where their chief was sitting in a throne. Our friends were in a cage.

"Raf," says Jack.

"Spike," says Twilight.

"Glad you two are safe," says Duke.

"I call these guys the 'Cabbage Patch Kids'," says Miko, "look at them."

The Chief walks over to me and Spike.

"You anger Volcano God with sky fight, now we need volunteer to be sacrificed. Fed to Ring of Fire."

"Too bad that's going to have to be none of us," says Duke.

"It wasn't our fault," says Dr. Robertson.

"It was those Army Ants," says Miko.

"They wok for an evil creature named Evox," says Brightmore.

"Silence," says Chief, "if no sacrifice, Me choose."

The Chief points his finger at each of us.

"Hold it," says Miko, "is he going Eeny, meeny, miny, moe?"

"You, purple dog!"

"Sure, you don't want Brightmore?"

"If you hurt him, I'll..."

"Silence, Purple Girl. We feed dog to Ring of Fire."

"But I have fleas!"

"Lava will burn them."

"Have any of you seen the Volcano God," I asked.

"Of course not. Gods no reveal themselves because mortals unworthy."

"What if the Volcano God shows up and tells you it's all good," I said.

The Chief thinks. "Agreed. If you summon Volcano God, Dog lives. If not, Dog write will."

I walked over to the cage.

"Brightmore, can you summon a fire creature?"

"Well, I say - I'll try something," says Brightmore, "Volcanoh Dervish!"

Volcano Dervish then comes.

"That Volcano God," asks the Chief.

"Oh, Great Volcano God," I said, "do you forgive us?"

Volcano Dervish looks over at Brightmore, who gestures to say yes, so Volcano Dervish nods.

"Very well, we spare Dog."

Spike is relieved.

Then the Army Ants arrive and Evox shows his face.

"Hello Unit: E."

"Evox," says Duke, "what do you want?"

"I want the Technorganic'ssss help. Now that I know how much you all care about the mutant puppy..."

"Hey!"

"You will do as I ssssay, or he diessss!"

"Not a Dog's Day."

Volcano Dervish is about to attack, but Evox uses Spike as a shield, so Brightmore sends Volcano Dervish away.

"Goodbye Volcano God. Him not much talker."

. . .

I was forced to fly into the volcano to look for the meteorite Evox said he wanted.

"Hurry, Boy!"

"Evox," says Duke, "you're a desssspicable, abominable, demonic, vile ssssnake!"

"Who are you calling Demonic?"

. . .

I was flying through the volcano, but it was so hot. Luckily, my Maximal biology summoned a heat proof armor around my body.

"Well, that's lucky," I said.

I then traveled through the volcano until I saw the meteorite. I don't know why Evox wants it, but I can't let him hurt Spike. On the other hand, I can't let him have this either. I'm going to need to think of a plan.

Evox's POV:

We were all waiting for the boy.

"SSSSo, where did you guys come from," asks Jack Darby.

"The Cabbage Patch," says the Chief.

"I mean how did you guys come into existence?"

"Oh. No idea. Been wondering that ourselves."

Then the boy came.

"I have your meteorite," he says.

"Hey Raf, cool armor," says Miko Nakadai.

"Well done," I ssssaid as I got near the meteorite.

"Now, we had a deal."

"Yessss, about that..." I then threw the dog into the volcano and Rafael Essssquivel rushed in to ssssave him. Foolish boy. I then left.

Raf's POV:

I managed to grab Spike and flew out.

. . .

We were saying goodbye to the Cabbage Patch Kids.

"No hard feelings about trying to kill your dog," says the Chief.

"Let's just say we may not come back here for a while," says Twilight.

"Too bad Evox got what he wanted," says Spike.

I then revealed I played a little trick. You see, when I grabbed the meteorite, I also took a big lava rock.

Evox's POV:

"Thissss is not the meteorite!" I then threw it. "The meteorite musssst be at Unit: E. Lookssss like it'ssss time for an invassssion."

In the next chapter, Evox invades Unit: E to get the meteorite.
