Chapter 38: Atomic Man:
Jack's POV:
Last time, Duke was captured by the Society of Ultimate Villainy, Cobra Commander, Stretch Monster, and the Choten. They brainwashed him, and now he's like their enforcer. He just killed the President. Steel tried to catch him, but he got away, but not before Steel took his laser that paralyzed the rest of us. The only good thing to come from all of this is that Steel is now an official agent of Unit: E. We still need to find a way to get Duke back. We were all in our break room. The Director came.
"Listen up," he says, "today, you're meeting with Mike Power aka Atomic Man."
"And how are we gonna do that without a leader," asks Miko.
"You're going to have to improvise," says Director Flagg, "think of it this way, you might run into Duke and if you do..."
"Then we can save him," says Steel.
"Bingo," says Director Flagg.
. . .
We arrived at the town where Atomic Man would be.
"Split up," says Dr. Robertson.
We do just that.
Stretch Monster's POV:
Duke and I were watching them.
"Looks like your old teammates are here," I said.
"Don't worry, they won't stop us."
"You should've gotten rid of them when you had the chance. This time, don't show any mercy."
"I follow Cobra Commander's orders, not yours."
"Alright, Soldier Boy, let's put it this way. I outrank you. Now, let's go."
Miko's POV:
Twilight, Brightmore, and me were at an arcade.
"Sweet," I said, "we can play some games here."
"Or we can focus ohn stopping the society," says Brightmore.
"I don't see why we can't do both," I said.
"Unless the Society are bosses in the games," says Twilight, "I can."
Spike got on to a game, but then he got grabbed by a green stretchy arm. Gee, I wonder who that could be?
"Game Over," says Stretch Monster.
Raf's POV:
Steel, Dr. Robertson, and I were in a grocery store.
"Bring it on, you Society Creeps," says Steel, "you're dealing with Agent Steel now." Then a weird device attached to Steel. "There's something on the back of my neck, isn't there?"
Steel then started attacking us.
Jack's POV:
Roadblock and I found Atomic Man's apartment. I knocked on the door. Atomic Man answered.
"Atomic Man," asks Roadblock.
"Who wants to know?"
"I'm Roadblock and this is Jack."
"We're with Unit: E," I said.
"Well, technically, he is. I'm more like a guy who's helping them beat a trio of bad guys."
"I see. Come in."
We entered and saw Duke sitting on the couch. Atomic Man then trapped us with energy chains.
"What's going on," I asked.
"This man said he was with Unit: E and he warned me about some people that work for Cobra Commander."
"Look, he is with Unit: E," I said, "but Cobra Commander's brainwashed him!"
"They would say anything to get the Shard," says Duke, "give it to me and I'll keep it safe from that snake."
"The man's lying," says Roadblock, "Cobra Commander's turned him into a puppet."
"I'll just go..."
"Hold it Duke," says Atomic Man, "I didn't say I entirely believed your story. You're both gonna stay here until I learned the truth. Let's start with your story, Kid. Why would someone your age be working for either side?"
"My best friends include alien robots that can transform into vehicles."
Atomic Man had no idea how to respond to that.
"Look, Mr. Power," says Roadblock, "Duke's the one working for Cobra Commander. That snake's also got an elastic mutant and a guy that can summon creatures from another dimension!"
"The world sure has changed since my day," says Atomic Man.
Miko's POV:
Stretch Monster had Spike. Brightmore tried to summon a creature, but Stretch Monster knocked him out. Twilight then tried using her levitation powers to throw a game at Stretch Monster, but he used Spike as a shield.
"I think you can see that I hold all the cards," says Stretch Monster.
I managed to sneak around the games and got out my NERF blaster and blasted Stretch Monster from behind, causing him to release Spike.
Raf's POV:
Steel was forced to attack us.
"What is with these guys and forcing us to attack each other," asks Steel.
"We have to find a way to get that thing off Steel," I said.
"Raf, you keep him busy," says Dr. Robertson, "I'm going for the device!"
I fought Steel Maximal to Maximal. Dr. Robertson managed to get behind Steel and removed the device, freeing Steel.
"Thanks Guys," says Steel, who then grabs the device, drops it on the floor, and then steps on it. "I have enough of that #$% snake in this #$% town!"
"Watch your language," says Dr. Robertson.
And Steel just look at him like 'Seriously, Dud!'
Jack's POV:
We were still all tied up by Atomic Man. He still wasn't sure who to trust. Then Duke decides he has enough and tazes Atomic Man and takes the shard.
"Gotta go now."
Roadblock grabs Duke and the two fight. Atomic Man then gets back up and removes his sleeves, revealing his robot parts.
"Smart plan, tazing me because of the metal on my body. Too bad I'm gonna have to beat you down now."
Duke then jumps out the window and Atomic Man goes after him.
Atomic Man then tries to fight Duke, but Duke keeps dodging. Duke then tazes Atomic Man again.
"Being part metal doesn't always help," says Duke.
"What about being made of metal with some human DNA," says Steel as he and the others show up.
"Better give up Duke," says Roadblock.
Duke then attempts to get away and we went after him.
"Split up," I said, "we can corner him!"
Duke tried to go to the left, but Miko and Twilight were there. He then tries to go to the right, but Raf and Steel are there. He then tries another direction, but Brightmore and Dr. Robertson are there. He then tries another direction, but he runs into me and Roadblock.
"It's over, Man," says Roadblock.
"Then try and take me down," says Duke.
We surrounded him, but then Spike knocks him out with his fire breath.
"I love being a fire breathing dog," says Spike.
. . .
We now had Duke locked up in the base.
"So, now what," asks Miko.
"We work on a way to get him back," I said.
"It won't be easy," says Dr. Robertson.
"But we won't give up," says Twilight.
"Whatever the case," says Brightmore.
"We'll do it," says Raf.
"And Cobra Commander can just eat it," says Steel.
"Hey, we did get the Shard, right," asks Spike.
"Don't worry," I said, "I got it right here."
Duke was staring at us.
In the next chapter, Miko and Twilight will enter Duke's mind. The rest of the team will also meet Bulletman.
