Note: I'm caring about this book more than I thought I would so I changed the cover. Awesome.
By the way my writing still sucks but I think I'm getting better, at least later in the chapter, so bear with me.
The forest was practically pitch black at night, but that didn't stop many animals from going about their own business. There were some owls who still stalked the forests, wolves who hunted and chased, foxes with insomnia, and Finn the not so human.
Who'd guess that out of all those things, FINN would be the most threatening.
Slowly treading on the grassy terrain, Finn (or what was presumably him) was hunting down his prey. There was no specific target or method to his hunt, and instead he simply pounced on anything he just so happens to find. He had recently just finished killing both a couple of deer that had tried to outrun him and fail, as well as a few small birds. Even after that, though, he remained unsatisfied. Unsatiated. Starving.
As he continued his aimless journey, the boy caught scent of something… pleasant. The aroma of blood and skin struck him like thunder, allowing him to locate the source almost immediately. His mouth began to salivate as a smile crept onto his face, overjoyed for not only the opportunity to feed but also to-
"Ghr… No… stop it…!"
The boy suddenly froze, struggling to even form words. He muttered to himself, holding his head tightly as pain began to flood his head. "I'm… not… some monster!" As he tried and tried, the boy looked like he was pushing his face and chest backward while he snarled at nothing and also tried to move forward. In short, he looked stupid. "What am I doing..? I'm supposed to be a hero… Why am I—?!"
"Silence."
The sound of the voice sent a shiver down the boy's spine. He could suddenly feel the air around him coil up around his soul, the air in his lungs feeling almost poisonous and his emotions spiral out of control.
"It matters not what you are as of now..." In the back of Finn's mind, a voice whispered to him.
"You… who are you?!" Finn shouted at nothing. There was nothing around him, yet he could feel the gaze of hundred of eyes piercing his suffocating soul. "What did you do to me?!"
"Unimportant." The enigmatic voice whispered almost immediately, louder than before. "All you must know is that you must feed."
A feeling of deep hunger embedded itself into his body, and bloodlust filled his mind once more. The smell from before became even stronger, while his mouth began to water like some sort of faucet. As Finn began to think about it, the feeling of feeding did make him feel… good. The sensation of life flowing into his body… the warmth of the red blood on his teeth and skin…
…No. That isn't him talking. He grit his teeth and raised his head. "Never! I'm not just gonna do something a random voice tells me to!" He started. " If you want something, then show me—GAAHG!!" Before he could protest, a head splitting pain had made itself known and caused Finn to collapse once more. The voice cackled in amusement and spoke again.
"Gaze into the darkness. Bear witness to its light."
Following its orders unwillingly, Finn was suddenly hit with a burning sensation in his eyes for a split second before closing them again. He groaned in pain once more before trying to open them again, blinking repeatedly before he could finally see.
Instead of seeing trees or nothingness like he thought he would, he saw something else.
Finn was taken aback by the sight of… waves. Many different kinds of waves traveling through the air. Most were thin and resembled electricity, while others resemble a kind of aura that encased different things. Instead of seeing a tree, he saw a kind of outline. Every tree and plant in front of him had strange outlines, showing him even the tiniest of details with one simple glance. It was an encapsulated sight.
"Woah… what am I looking at…?" He said to himself while looking around, everything seeming colorless and hollow. "It's like… I'm seeing everything… while seeing nothing…"
Ribbit…
A sudden surge of waves could be seen traveling through the ground and air from a nearby source, making the boy turn to see what he thinks is a frog. Instead of seeing a frog, he saw… currents. It was like some kind of clay doll with millions of different currents flowing through it, with something glowing brightly in the center. As it continued to ribbit, more waves echoed away from its body and across the air freely. It was mesmerizing. It was-
"You're hungry, child."
The voice had made itself known once more, shattering the peaceful atmosphere that Finn was having, and instead causing his ears to ring and for him to groan once more.
"Observe your surroundings, what do you see?"
Suddenly, Finn shouted out in frustration as he stood upright and looked to the sky. "RAAGH! Will you stop it already…?! What do you want from me!?" He yelled out, making what little animals around turn to look at him.
"If you just want me to kill innocent animals or people for your own amusement then it's not gonna work! I'm a HERO! I stand for JUSTICE!"
"Justice?"
The sound of cackling filled the boy's head once more, a sense of dread filling in the back of his mind. Before he could say anything about it though, his eyes started to burn once more and he clutched his eyes once again.
"If you speak truthfully, then let your eyes judge your actions."
Finn repeated the process with his eyes and noticed that the glowing in the center of the animals had gained more clarity and color, both encasing the entire body in some aura and resembling different things. The owls had calm teal auras, giving him a cool and stern feeling. The frog had a pink and white crisp aura, giving him an almost elated feeling. Then the foxes had gray stiff auras, which gave him a feeling of discomfort and sadness.
While Finn was no expert, he could easily guess that these were the natures of these animals. He could easily be wrong about that, but he couldn't really think of anything else. "Wow… this is something else… huh?"
As the boy looked around the scenery and admiring everything, he noticed something… bitter. Running over in almost an instant, the child climbed a tree and gazed over the plains and saw a kind of campsite. It was a large site, housing around ten or so people, emitting jagged and sharp waves that echoed into the woods. While the waves themselves weren't what bothered him, the auras he saw definitely did.
Unlike everything he saw in the forest, Finn gazed at the dark crimson auras that encased the sight, along with purple shaky auras that seemed… afraid. It made him feel angry. Disgusted, even. A sudden surge of negative emotions swelled up inside of him, making him grit his teeth and let out a low growl. The same feeling of bloodlust and hunger from before was coming back, but this time it felt more controlled. Focused.
"If you claim to embody justice, then act as its blade. Feed on those who detest it and cower in the shade."
The boy simply stared at the sight in silence, watching as the auras writhed with malevolence and fear. What were they talking about? What were they doing? Who even were they? A number of questions were raised, with no one to answer.
Though that didn't matter at the moment. He didn't need to know anything else about them. He didn't need to think about it.
All he needs to do is devour every last one of them.
"Sooo let me get this straight…" Marceline started, sitting on a log with her arms clasped together. "You tried to pull a prank on LSP…"
"Uhuh." Jake answered, sitting on the ground in a ball position.
"…Finn suddenly screams in the woods and starts acting weird…"
"Yes."
"…Starts going 'Vampire Crazy'…"
"Mhm…"
"…And tries to bite the two of you?"
"Uh… pretty much, yeah." Jake sighed and looked disappointed in himself, still messed up about the entire situation. Finn, who was practically his little brother, tried to maul him and eat him alive. "I knocked him into her tent, but I don't think he's still there…"
A moment of silence passed between the two of them, the spirits floating over them also silent. They seemed way less interested in their conversation, but that didn't stop them from bursting into laughter moments later along with Marceline.
"Pfft! C'mon Jake, I know you're just trynna pull my leg!" She said in between laughs, a single tear forming in her eye. "There's no way you guys didn't catch on by now!"
"No wait, not yet!" One of the spirits whispered to her, also snorting a little bit.
"What?!" Jake shouted in anger after a moment of stunned silence. "C'mon guys, you gotta believe me! My own bro almost bit my face off!" He pleaded with the four undead, almost uncaring for the fact that they were undead and could easily kill him.
Wendy chuckled and sighed at his little outburst, calming down first. "C'mon, dude. Are you sure your brain didn't just make that up?" She asked with a sassy tone.
"Yeah, man. You didn't just hit your head too hard, did ya?" Georgy asked, still chuckling.
"I KNOW WHAT I SAW, GLIP GLOBBET!" Jake yelled, practically seething with anger. "If you don't believe me, then I'll look for him myself! Stupid cronking…" He stomped away with his last words being muffled, the four undead looking on with blank expressions.
The ghosts specifically looked annoyed at him, while Marceline looked on with a hint of guilt hidden behind her blank face. Bobo scoffed at his comment and spoke. "Geez that guy's a buzz kill…" "Let's teach him the kicking lesson already." The idea of the kicking lesson put a grin on their faces as they suddenly formed a single leg under their bodies.
Before they could do anything though, Marceline spoke up. "Wait, you guys…" she said with a hint of concern, almost surprising the ghosts.
As Jake took the unconscious LSP with him back to her camp sight, he suddenly felt arms wrapping around him and stop him for a moment. He turned around and saw Marceline floating above him with a small smile on. "C'mon Jake, don't worry about Finn. I'm sure he's fine!" She spoke.
"Yeah but what if he goes around just attacking people at random?! I'm practically his big bro, I gotta stop him! Or help him, depending on my mood…" Jake exclaimed angrily, much to the vampire's surprise. Who knew that Jake of all people could get so worked up? Especially when it came down to Finn.
After a short pause of silence she sighs and ruffles the top of his head. "Alright, ya goof. Show me where he was." She looked a lot more sincere than before, possibly caving in to the dog's temper. Jake was alleviated by those words and hurriedly dashed to the campsite with Marceline in tow and the ghosts silently stalking them.
Eventually they made it over to the wreckage of the campsite, where no one could really find anything out of the ordinary and thinking that it always looked like this. Who could blame them? This is LSP's place, it was bound to be a wreck. Jake walked over to the remains of the tent and sniffed it, trying to see if he could get a scent out of it. Despite knowing he was a dog, Marceline couldn't help but feel awkward when he did so.
"So you kicked him into this and he… what? Walked away?" Marceline joked as she inspected the condition of the tent remains. They had several holes and looked like they were clawed at, but she just assumed that LSP always had it like that. "Jeez, she really needs to fix up her place."
"C'mon Marceline! You gotta believe me!" Jake pleaded while looking around the ruined tent, noticing scratch marks and multiple dent marks into things. "I mean look at this! He's literally imprinting himself into the ground!" He yells while pointing at a trail of small holes.
Marceline scoffed at the sight, floating above the dog with an uninterested look. "That could've been anything, wise guy."
"I can smell his scent in these things!" Jake retorted.
"Oh calm down, grandpa! I know you guys are just trying to set up some kind of prank." The vampire queen laughed and floated away, much to the chagrin of Jake.
Before he had the chance to argue against her though, LSP, who they had brought along just to keep her safe, was waking up. She mumbled something about some guy named George but quickly realized that her place was wrecked. "Wha…?! Huh!?"
"LSP!" Jake beamed at the sight of her finally waking up, for once in his life, knowing that she can be used as a source. "Finally, someone who can—!"
"What the HECK HAPPENED TO MY PLACE?!" Jake was no longer excited to see her.
Immediately throwing a tantrum, the lumpy space princess was practically seething with anger right after having one of the best dreams in her life. It mostly consisted of all her exes fawning over her and finally meeting the right one, but it was still something she enjoyed. She scoured through the remains of her campsite and grimaced as she found more and more remains of her stuff. Then she looked at Jake and Marceline, which she swore made a blood vessel pop. "What is wrong with you?! IM GONNA LUMPING MURDER YOU TWO!!!"
"Whoa whoa whoa—easy LSP, we didn't do it!" Jake said while raising his arms, actually sweating a bit through nervousness.
"Yeah, and I just got here." Marceline said with a hint of boredom in her voice, looking off to the side while crossing her arms. "Honestly I thought you just lived like this." She smirked at her own comment, much to LSP's rage.
"Oh yeah?! That's petty coming from you guys!" LSP said while floating over near her ripped up tent, trying to find some of her other valuables.
Marceline shot her a look that screamed bloody murder. "What did you say?" She coldly asked. Jake was close to just backing off for the night, shrinking himself a little.
"You're a slob, girl!" She said ignoring the signs of death, which only set off the vampire queen even more. "I've seen what you do when you think you're alone—you're super gross!" It's true. She's seen how Marceline would sometimes pick her nose and then rub it on things or loudly burp like a man, which causes her to go entirely red, both from anger and embarrassment.
"I guess that's why you can't keep anyone, huh?" Nah, just anger.
"WELL AT LEAST I HAVE A HOME AND HAVE REAL RELATIONSHIPS!" She screamed, shifting her form to look frightening. She then pointed at LSP with a morphed bat arm and snarled at her. "And don't you talk to me about relationships when everybody in Ooo HATES you."
Jake at this point had shrunk so little that he was hiding under an empty can and desperately waiting for the two of them to get off the other, knowing well that they usually argue like this. LSP on the other hand was still seething with rage, but it was turned into more of a joke as she started to sniffle and get more frustrated than furious. Looking over to her tent, she noticed that there was something that looked like a husk of a snake, just lying on the ground next to a tree. She immediately noticed the snake and already formed a counter argument.
"O-oh yeah!?" She started while floating over to the husk, not taking her eyes off of the vampire, who also locked her death glare into her soul. "Well… at least I don't go after YOUR Ex! Look at what you did to Toby, you psychopath!" The lumpy girl then picked up the husk and carried it over to Marceline, practically shoving it in her face and annoying her even further.
Pushing the corpse away from her face she snarled once more, this time out of disgust. "GUHH! That's just some stupid snake! And I didn't even—!?" What was once a burning anger was immediately whittled down to empty shock as she got a better look at the corpse.
Or rather its neck, seeing two hollow, gaping holes in it.
She stared in disbelief at the sight and had millions of thoughts flow throughout her mind, all of which were panicking and questioning what she was looking at.
"I… wh… what…?" She mumbled with a loss of words.
Her once stern and angered voice was now a weak and confused murmur, almost afraid. LSP was quick to notice her face and grinned, knowing she basically won this argument
"Yeah! Not only that, but you even turn into FINN of all people and try to seduce me?!" She adds, recalling how someone who looked like Finn was approaching her and suddenly embraced her, only for that person to shriek at her moments later. "You got issues, girl!"
Jake, expecting some kind of fight to ensue or something even worse to happen, waited inside his hiding can for a few moments, praying for the best. But after a while, he was stunned to hear nothing happen. Why? Did she run away and kill LSP silently? Or was he already dead and there was nothing to hear?
His answers were all solved when he exited the can and looked at Marceline, leading him to have entirely different questions swarm his head, as she stared at some dead snake with a look of distraught. She came down from floating and simply stood in front of the corpse, holding it in her hands while mumbling something he couldn't quite hear. All he could hear was a bunch of nos with a shaky voice, even getting LSP confused.
"Uh… Marcy? You doing alright?" LSP had asked with a tone that no one would ever expect from her. "Listen, I didn't really mind the Finn thing if that's what you're so worried about…"
"You see?! I told you Finn went crazy vampire!" He shouted while walking up to them, a look of fear still plastered over his face like a poorly made mask. "He probably went into the woods to try and hunt down other things to eat! We gotta stop him!"
"Wha? Wait so that actually was Finn?!" LSP looked over to Jake with sweat starting to roll down the side of her face, panic quickly rolling in. "GIRL, WHAT DID YOU--?!"
"SHUT UP!!!"
Her voice boomed as the two of them immediately shrunk in response, with Jake being more literal, and backing away with fear. Marceline looked at the two of them with fury that could kill, but she quickly turned away and found herself staring blankly at the corpse once again—multiple questions flooding her mind.
"There is another way for my species to survive…"
A voice lingered in her head as she continued to stare at the dead animal. His voice. The damned Vampire King. There was no way to say for certain, but if he somehow found a way to return to the world, then…
…no. That's impossible. He's dead. She made sure of it. There is probably some kind of mistake here, like another snake biting it and making it bleed out. She knows it's unlikely, but it wasn't bad to hope right?
"…look, I don't know what did this, but there was no way it was me or Finn." She quickly readjusted herself and tried to speak as casually as she could. "I mean—you guys aren't even vampires! I never even bit you!"
Jake blankly stared at the woman. "…What?"
"Aww c'mon Marcy! Why'd you go and ruin it?"
A sudden voice made itself known in the form of Wendy, who suddenly appeared right above the vampire girl along with Georgy and Bobo. They didn't actually hear or see anything that happened, with them just getting there and all, so they didn't actually see the look of terror (and now anger) on her face.
"Who the lump are you weirdos? And what're you even talking about?" LSP looked up at the ghosts and tilted her head.
"Beat it, lumps." "It's got nothing to do with ya." Bobo said with an annoyed tone for both voices, one of the heads glaring at the lumpy princess while the other didn't even bother to look.
"Wha—HUH?! I'll split you in two, you little—!"
"Knock it off, LSP." Marceline's voice seemed more dull than it already was, but it still held that threatening tone of hers. "Listen guys, something came up and I gotta deal with it."
"Oh what?!" "Boo!" A number of complaints were made, but the vampire paid them no attention. "Fine, but we better do this later." After a minute of persistence, the apparitions finally turned around and faded away.
The two girls looked up at where the ghosts left, but Jake was looking down at his hands with a fearful look. "I… could've died…?" The only reason he was as calm as he was around Finn, or as calm as he could be, was because he thought that he was also an immortal scum-sucking vampire. Having to find his brother, who really was one, put an off putting shiver down his spine.
"Hey, you're not the only one who was hurt, y'know!" LSP didn't seem to care, and Marceline just huffed and grabbed the pair.
"C'mon guys, this is Finn we're talking about. Even if he did somehow turn into a vamp, he shouldn't be too hard to handle." She tried to reassure the duo despite that being her least prominent skill and floated above the duo.
After a pause, Jake looked up from his hands and sniffled, taking her words to heart. "Yeah… yeah it's still Finn! My little bro! What's the worst that could happen?"
The flames burned brightly in the center of the campsite, keeping all who sat near it warm and the food they ate especially warm. Men clad in iron armor were seen eating pieces of meat and drinking what they assumed to be wine, despite it actually being ink they stole from a nearby roughhouse. They all were laughing at the stories they each told.
"Okay, okay, my turn!" The one in more robust armor spoke, downing a cup of said ink. "So back when we raided that last village, there was this one little nymph girl that ran up to me, and you know what she did?"
"Oh this should be good…" "What? What?!" A mixed reaction from the others told him to go on.
The man laughed a little just by thinking about it, but settles down and says, "She grabs this rock that's almost the size of her head, waddles around trying to carry it, and tried to throw it at my legs! Only instead of throwing it, it flopped onto her feet instead and she starts wailing!" The others then laugh with him, picturing the scenario in their minds. He continues on and says, "But when I even come close to her, she tries to put on some stoic face and tries punching my legs and hurts her hands instead!" The laughter only grew.
The men were raiders, going from villages to towns and taking everything they came across, ruining the places as they came and went. They hadn't been doing it for long, but the things they took went from simple belongings to riches to even people. They even held some of them back in their tents, keeping them and doing whatever they wanted to them until they grew tired of them and eventually kill them. That or use them as something else of value.
After a minute of chattering and laughter, one of the iron clad men stood up and walked off. "Alright, imma take a leak. Gotta get it out before getting it out of ya know what I mean, eh!?"
"You know you don't have to announce it every time you go, right?" Another said in copper armor, downing another cup.
"Hah! Sissy!" Another in darker knight like armor spoke. "I think I'll join ya, actually! Wanna test out the ones I managed to get!" With that said he stood up and followed the other man out, who chuckled at his comment.
A man with his helmet off and dark silver armor shook his head as he watched them. "Weirdos…" he muttered, unknowingly agreeing with the lurking non-human.
Walking down to clearing outside the tents, the men were still talking about their experiences in the raids and what they plan on doing later. Talking about what they'll do with the ladies they have, talking about what to spend their gold on, and talking about where the sound of rustling was coming from. Seriously, what was that?
"Hey so you thinking of handing over one of those wood nymphs for a couple pounds of gold?"
"No way! You take me for a cheap stake? Only thing I need with any gold is new armor and tools!"
"C'mon man! All I got were some mushroom heads, and they're too small to have any real fun with!"
"What, you're saying you're actually packing something down there?"
"Shut up!"
After walking a good few meters from the camp, they began to feel weird chills going down their spines. It wasn't the cold, no. Their armor made sure to keep them warm. It was more like feeling watched from afar by… something. Like having daggers practically shot into their bones, causing the duo to turn around to the forest entrance and get into a stance.
"You feeling that?" One of them asked while approaching the forest.
The other nodded and followed him. "Kinda hard to ignore, don't you think?" Despite the lighthearted comment, the feeling only worsened when they finally passed the trees.
After a moment of simply looking around for any sign of hostility or danger, the pair began to wonder what they were even doing. They had impenetrable armor on, what exactly would they be afraid of? A wolf? Bear? Even giants would get hurt upon coming into contact with their armor, what would a lowly animal do?
Or perhaps it was a bounty hunter? Someone who was watching them and planning to report them to heroes or something and get them in their sleep? That wouldn't be any good for them. If it was someone, then they had to make sure that there were no witnesses. Not even that thing rustling in the bushes.
"Hey, what's that?" The pair turned to face the bush and noticed something white sticking out of the top: a small bear or lemur with white fur was looking at something. For some reason it looked all banged up and had sticks coming out of it, much to the men's confusion.
That confusion quickly turned into laughter for one of them though. "Pfft! It's just some animal! What's there to be afraid of?" he said walking over to it.
"Wh--I Wasn't scared!" The other blushed from embarrassment as he replied to the man.
Said man only laughed at the response, slapping his knees and placing a hand on the small bear thing. "You wuss! The only dangerous things around here are us!" He continued to laugh, but the other turned away and crossed his arms. The man chuckled lightly and turned to the bear thing he was holding. "Can you believe this guy?"
In response, the stub stood up and revealed what looked like a kind of demon or night crawler with glowing white eyes and snarling fangs, hissing at the man. Before he could even react, a sudden hand slammed into the man's face and dragged him into the bush without a sound. Well, if you ignore the sound of bending iron and gouging flesh, then it was mostly silent.
The other man stood there momentarily before turning back and finding himself alone, much to his confusion. "Doug? This ain't funny, man!" He looked around frantically in hopes of finding his companion, but saw nothing in the darkness.
Walking over to where he last was and rummaging through the bushes, he looked for a moment and found him. "Dude you can't just-- HOLY?!" He was in pieces.
Right in front of him, ripped apart like paper, guts and iron plastered the ground and the sight of some thing wearing the hat from before was seen trying to pierce its fangs through the helmet, only to stop after 2 attempts upon seeing the other man. It hissed at him and threw aside the head, while the man was stumbling backwards in desperate attempt to draw his weapon.
"ST--STOP!! STAY AWAY FROM ME!! STAY AW-AAAAAAGGHH...!!!" As he tried to plead, a sudden slash to the throat not only tore through his armor like a knife through bigger, but his attempt to scream died out. In the end, he met a fate similar to his companion. And that monster was going to make sure to give the rest of them the same treatment.
Though unbeknownst to the monster, a hunter, or rather huntress, was currently making her move.
"Jeez, Finn's been busy..." Marceline muttered as she examined the lifeless husks of multiple animals. All of them had fang marks in their bodies and looked like dried fruit, much to the disgust of the dog.
Though right now, he was too busy worrying about his brother to really say anything. He had a constant look of distraught on his face as he hurriedly walked through the woods. While at first he was convinced that even if his little bro became a scum sucking vampire, there was no way he would ever hurt others or do anything like what he was seeing. If they met again, what would they do?
"Hey guys this is super gross! What're we even doing anyways?" LSP didn't seem to care in the slightest, however. The lumpy space princess was tagging along with them in an attempt to help, but she didn't really know what she was doing. She wasn't exactly the most helpful person around.
Marceline hummed and turned to her. "We're looking for Finn to make sure he doesn't go and do something crazy. Why did you even come if you don't even know?" She floated about and continued to look.
"I can be helpful! I just don't know what we should even do when we even find him!" She argued, making a surprisingly good point that made the vampire girl physically flinch.
When she first turned into a vampire, she could remember how all these new and instinctual thoughts flooded her mind. How everyone she looked at always seemed to be just another blood bag, how the sun always seemed like a monster. But over time she learned to repress those urges, learning quickly that she simply needed to eat the color and not the blood itself, even if it did only give her a fraction of what blood would in terms of satisfaction. There was no doubt that she could just restrain Finn and have him simmered out in no time.
But then again, unlike her, Finn wasn't part demon. She knew that the only reason she remained retained most of her mind was because of her demon blood from her good for nothing dad. Truthfully, there was no certainty that Finn was still even there. And even if he was, it took her years to fully repress the urges all together. What if there was no one there to even save? What if he fully turns into a monster and loses his mind? What if...
...no, don't think like that. Even if he wasn't there, she'll make sure he comes back one way or another. And with Jake here to help him remember, it should be way easier. If anyone could help him, it was either Jake, her or... Bonnie.
"Look, as a vampire myself, I know how to subdue him in case he goes ballistic," she explained, "but all we need to do is give him some time to recover mentally. He just needs to satisfy his hunger first."
"And how long would that take?" Jake asked in worry, lighting up very slightly. "Like I love my bro and all, but I really don't wanna wait eternity just to see him again."
Before she could answer, Marceline began to smell the scent of blood filling the air. Unlike from those husks, this blood smelled fresher and more... human. Her eyes widened at the realization.
"Oh no..." she whispered and grew a worried look.
"Huh? What's..." Jake began but was caught off guard by the sudden smell of blood. His face curled up in disgust and he gagged. "Aww! What the flip is that?!"
"What're you guys talking about??" LSP, not having as strong as a nose is only confused by the way they were acting. "It better not be me, cause I wash these lumps every day!" Her sass truly knew no bounds.
"...I think we're getting close." Marceline said floating around some trees and over some shrubs.
"AAAAAAGGHH...!!!"
The sound of a dying scream cut through the air like lightning, causing all three to quickly turn towards the source of the sound with a distraught expression.
"Yeah, ya think?!" Jake exclaimed before breaking into a sprint.
"C'mon! Hurry!" Marceline quickly followed suit.
LSP, however, simply stared for a minute longer before she groaned out of fear. No way. She was NOT risking her lumps getting all bloody.
The duo had been running/floating quickly for around two minutes before Jake tripped on something, causing him to roll over onto a tree stump. The dog groaned as he sat upright and rubbed his head, his eyes closed.
Marceline looked back to the dog with a scowl. "Dude pick up the pace, or...! Or..." she started before her attention turned to the twisted tapestry in front of the dog.
What looked like a torso and a multitude of other limbs and guts were splattered all over the ground, the color being a dark gray that almost made it look like the metal was melting. Speaking of metal, the armor that encased the body looked like it was cut through like how scissors cut paper. Of all the body parts though, there was no head to be seen, just a smashed helmet with bone shards and brain matter sticking out.
"Sorry about that, I got distracted by the--" he started before Marceline shifted her arm into a giant bat limb and blocked the sight from Jake. "Huh? What're you doing?"
"Uh... grabbing you?" She said as she, in fact, grabbed the dog. "C'mon, we should still hurry before..."
The vampire girl dragged him with her only for a few meters before freezing up once more at the sight of a burning campsite, only this time Jake was also witness to it. The two of them could only stare at the carnage as they saw two figures standing just before it, seemingly in a battle. Looks like they have some competition.
Note: Yeah I did it! I actually updated a book! I'm so good at this B). Anyways yeah uhh 5 likes for chapter three or I make a wizard Finn AU or something I dunno what do people even like these days? This site is so different from AO3.
