Chapter 4

Later that afternoon myself, Alice, Rosalie, Victoria, and Vanessa were at the resort spa. All of us booking different treatments.

Alice, Rosalie, and I were in the whirlpool spa relaxing after our treatments when Alice looked my way.

"So, I've noticed you and Edward talking on several occasions", smile planted in place.

"We met that first day when you went to the pool. He's really nice, he seems pretty reserved though"

"And no Alice, don't get any ideas in that head of yours" I stated while laughing.

"Oh, come on, he's hot".

"Alice"

"What, married remember, not dead" we laughed.

During this, Rosalie just sat back with her eyes closed, relaxation pouring from her.

"Well I will say", she sits up and joins the conversation.

"I've obviously spent time with him over the years. He is definitely night and day from Emmett. He's a bit of a tortured soul, but I guess it comes with the territory".

"Oh, that's right" Alice says, "Isn't he in the military"?

"He actually just got out and moved back to Seattle. We haven't seen him a whole lot, he's been getting reacclimated to civilian life".

"He's actually a medic pilot, he works for one of the companies I see a lot at the hospital"

The two girls look at me, eyebrows raised.

"What, he told me when we met and talked. I'll probably see him around at work".

Alice and Rosalie just looked at each other and smiled.

"Oh no, get that out of your heads now" I said laughing. Knowing what I overheard the brothers talking about, I wasn't about to embarrass myself in front of someone who is not only not looking for anything, but who I'll likely work with at some point.

I point at both of them and smirk, "I'm not looking to score the wedding party one-night stand, especially with your future brother-in-law" I say to Rosalie. We all laugh and stand to get out of the spa just as Victoria and Vanessa head through the door, finished with their treatments.

The week in paradise was just the vacation I needed and the wedding was just as beautiful as I imagined.

Rosalie was the most gorgeous bride and Emmett cried like a baby as she walked down the aisle to him.

The couple said I do and kissed with the pinks and oranges of a Caribbean sunset creating the perfect backdrop.

After the ceremony we had an amazing dinner. Edward gave a heartfelt speech, honoring his big brother and new sister-in-law, while Victoria's speech had us all in stitches, being every bit the ball-buster to Emmett he claimed her to be.

The cake was indulgent, the wine was exquisite. It was just everything a wedding should be, and I felt honored to get to witness it.

I needed to remember to pick up a little something for Alice as a thank you for bringing me on this trip.

I've been home from the Cayman Islands for two weeks now and finally got myself off that island time.

It was my last of 3 shifts in a row. I sip my coffee and gather my things from my locker, ready to start the morning huddle.

"Good morning everyone, we are fully staffed today. We have two open beds, Bella, Tanya, you are both open for admit, Bella, you'll be up first". Kate, our charge nurse went over the assignments and a few other announcements.

Around 1pm, I was coming back from lunch when Kate let me know I was getting an admit. An MVC trauma being sent direct from a smaller regional hospital.

I make sure my room is set up and get the call for report a few minutes later. This case was being flown in from about an hour outside of Seattle where she was stabilized and set to us for a higher level of care.

I'm in the room readying things when the flight team arrived. I looked up and to my surprise, "Edward"

"Bella" he says with a smile.

At this point, routine takes over. We get the patient moved to the bed and the flight nurse is giving me an updated report.

Me, Tanya and Jessica, some of my fellow coworkers, along with the Respiratory Therapist, get the patient settled as our intensivist Dr. Masen comes in.

The flight team is still packing up when I walk out of the room.

"I was wondering how long it would be before I ran into you here", I say to Edward as he puts things back into a bag.

"I've been here a few times since we've been back, but must have not been on your shift"

"You still loving the new job" I ask.

"Yes, I get to fly and help people, two things I love".

At that, Tanya slides up next to us. "Hey Bella, who is your friend here"?

"Tanya, this is Edward, Edward, Tanya. We met a few weeks back at his brother's wedding".

"Well Edward, it's nice to meet you". She turns to go, then thinks better of it. "Well Edward, if you and your crew want, you should meet us after shift, we always go to The Hideout for drinks and to decompress after our work week".

"Thanks Tanya, I'll spread the word, it's the crew's last day on too, maybe you'll see us around".

She winks and leaves, and I just look at Edward and roll my eyes in good fun.

"Well, I gotta get back to work, hopefully we'll see you later" I say to him

"Yeah, maybe"
