Alright, enough blabbering, here's chapter 4.
Were they the ninja? That thought kept circling through Chase's head. He decided not to ask anyone until he had more evidence, although he was convinced that they were the ninja. He didn't know much about the heroes of ninjago city because he had spent most of his life on his own without a TV. But he had seen them on the big screen once and a while, and he had always admired them because of their bravery and ability to always keep Ninjago City safe.
Days passed, and Chase kept exploring his powers and theories. It had been a week, and Chase was still staying with the ninja. It seemed like he wasn't going back to live in the woods anytime soon. The ninja had fixed up his room so it was more like a room given him more clothes to wear. He felt at home in the bounty. Chase got the feeling that maybe the ninja were going to let him stay here for the long term.
That night, Chase switched off the light and snuggled under his covers. He now had a low raised bed with proper bed sheets, blankets, and pillows. He had a lamp on a desk with his belongings. Since he didn't own much to begin with, the ninja just let him inherit a lot of their old things, which he greatly appreciated.
He closed his eyes, hoping for a peaceful, dreamless sleep. For the past few nights, no nightmares had popped up. Chase thought maybe they had stopped and were just temporary, maybe from the anxiety of staying somewhere new.
For the first few hours of sleeping, all was peaceful. But at around 1:00 AM, flashes began appearing. They were the same ones as always. The mysterious girl, the dark figure, the tornado, water, and two people arguing all on repeat.
Chase's eyes twitched, he tossed and turned. He knew they meant something or else they wouldn't be coming back to him every night.
Chase clutched his head, struggling to find meaning to these peace-breaking flashes. He was fighting to keep a scream in. His body twisted and turned under the covers.
Suddenly, it became too hot, and Chase kicked the blankets off his bed, still writhing in his restless sleep.
Then abruptly, all the flashes and noise went black and were replaced by a toddler crying. Chase's eyes shot open and he looked around.
It took him a moment to realize the crying was in his head. Then it stopped and the normal flashes resumed.
Chase flopped onto his bed, trying to breathe through it all. He must have fallen asleep for a decent amount of time because when he woke up, it was light out. Chase checked the time.
9:23 AM
Chase quickly sat up, surprised by how late he had slept in. He was greeted with a throbbing headache. Probably from all the nightmares, he thought, rubbing his temples.
He got up and changed, glancing out his bedroom window. It was a hot, sunny day with a cloudless blue sky and a slight cooling breeze. Chase sighed. It was the perfect weather for a mid-August morning.
He entered the kitchen, the smell of breakfast still in the air. All the ninja were either finishing up breakfast or doing the dishes. He felt embarrassed waking up so late, being an early riser.
"Hey, Chase," Kai said, taking a sip of water.
"Hi."
"We saved you breakfast," Jay said, pushing a plate towards him.
"Thanks." Chase sat down and began nibbling on his toast.
"So, why are ya up so late?" Kai asked.
"Uh, I couldn't sleep. Well, then I fell asleep at like two in the morning." He shrugged and looked down at his breakfast.
At around noon, Chase decided to go for a walk. He walked to the pond at the bottom of the rock ledge and sat down, trying to process his thoughts. He didn't know why he kept having those flashes at night of the same thing, like it was on repeat. It must have meant something, but Chase didn't have the energy or the brains right now to figure it out.
He just stared at his reflection in the pond. Then, through the reflection, he saw something catapult through the air–something big. Chase looked up just in time to see a fireball crash in the city. He looked behind him and saw a dark cloud edging its way into Ninjago City.
Chase gasped. This was the dark figure he saw in his nightmares. And it was entering Ninjago City.
Thank you guys for reading! I hope you enjoyed the chapter! Again, I'm sorry it took a bit longer for me to update this time. From now on, I'll probably update every five to seven days. Anyways, thanks again. Reviews are encouraged!
