I was originally abandoned by my father because I did not have any super powers.
"Where could she have got this from?" He thought.
I was just a normal girl, nobody special. That's when my father shipped me off to the League of Assassins. Where he hoped I'd get some training and later reunite with him; so we could be a villain partnership, a father and a daughter. Or so I'd thought.
He put me on a plane, with a horrible pilot, and put me on my way to the League of Assassins. He probably didn't think about the plane crashing, or maybe just didn't care.
When the Headmaster of the League of Assassins, Ra's al Ghul, saw a crashed plane on his land, he thought it was a threat, maybe a bomb. He went up to it with great caution, to investigate, that's when he saw a crying baby girl stuck in a crashed plane, me. When he saw me he instantly called for some of his men to get me out of the plane and bring me to him. When they brought me to him, he saw a hopeless baby girl, with a dark red ruby in her palm, with the words engraved in it, "Felix Faust."
After a while of thinking the grand master took me in as one of his own, the granddaughter of Ra's al Ghul. That day I was named Jyn.
I grew up being best friends with Damian, the headmaster's grandson. We were brother and sister, inseparable.
Even though I was adopted I looked very much like Talia, they say. I had the same black hair, pale skin. And even the same little smile as her and Damian, even though they would never use it.
I loved my life at the League of Assassins; I was an excellent fighter, climber, and even the second smartest student in the league, after Damian.
Damian always had a need to impress Grandfather, and always had to live up to his standards. I felt the same way, but Damian would never let himself be happy, he would stay serious all the time, but if I was happy I would not push that happiness away just for standards, although I would always love being in the league. Until my life completely changed one day:
I was training with Damian, and I did not block a fencing swing because I broke my wrist a few days prior. This caused me to get stabbed in the stomach, accidently. Pain exploded through my body and I fell into Damian's arms, tears running down my cheeks hitting my stomach where my wound was.
"I don't think I ever cried before," I whispered, closing my eyes.
"It's ok, it's ok," he responded, sounding scared. Although how much can a puny eleven year old do?
Damian quickly picked me up, running inside as fast as his legs could carry us. I felt little downward hopping motions and I assumed he was running down stairs. Were we going into the Lazarus Pit room? The hopping stopped, I opened my eyes but all I saw was a familiar looking ceiling, when the corners of my vision started becoming black? Or was it white? Green! I suddenly felt like I was being dunked in thick green water.
My wound burned, and stung, and quaked with pain. I squeezed my eyes shut once more, as I felt the most unbearable feeling I had ever experienced. Then something clicked, like I knew and am who I'm supposed to be. I opened my eyes and jumped out of the water, thrashing.
I saw Damian standing right outside of the pit, an expression of pure terror on his face, I thought we trained to not feel fear; then it cleared and he smiled, looking at my stomach. I looked down and saw my wound was healed, my insides weren't bleeding out, I was healed and back the way I once was. Or so I thought.
I looked back at Damian, smiling. That's when the expression was back, his face turned pale, like he had just seen a ghost. That's when I felt another click, and I saw red, or was it…purple? I felt my feet lift slightly off the ground, my ears felt like they had bubbles in them. I could hear the muffled sound of Damian screaming "Grandfather!" Then I was out.
I did not understand what was happening. My head was spinning and I couldn't understand what everyone was saying. I opened my eyes and was instantly blinded by the bright yellow light above my head. Was I in my bedroom?
Slowly my hearing cleared, "I saw her levitate, I swear on it Grandfather! And her eyes turned into a purple and red swirl! What is happening to her Grandfather?" It was Damian's voice.
I turned my head to my left and saw Damian sitting on the edge of my bed alongside Grandfather, I smiled. They saw me and Damian almost looked happy, even though he was trying to hide it from Grandfather.
"Jyn, something happened to you this morning." Grandfather started. My 'well obviously' look made him pause. I looked down as to say 'sorry' and let him keep going. "We believe The Lazarus Pit might have activated your powers." Did he just say powers? Was it like my mother's or father's? He kept on talking, stopping my thoughts, "We believe you have backward magic just like your biological mother and grandfather, Zatanna and Zatara.
My eyes opened in pure excitement and shock, I was no longer just a normal girl that could fight, I was a girl with magic.
Now that I had powers, I decided to go back to my father, and be with him like he wanted, a father and daughter partnership. I asked Damian to come with me but he needed to stay with his mother and grandfather, so I left, hoping I would see Damian and grandfather again.
Three days later the League of Assassins's base was infiltrated by Death Stroke and Grandfather died fighting. However, two weeks later Damian emerged as Robin, Batman's sidekick.
I didn't know how to feel, all I knew was that he was a traitor!
