The Evening Star

Chapter One

Disclaimer: I don't own Hazbin Hotel, Vivziepop and Amazon do.

Hey, Everyone. I am new to the Hazbin Hotel fandom, but I do love the show, that is why I started writing this story. I had this idea from some fan art of Lucifer adopting Emily and here we are. Enjoy, have fun.

Hell, Hazbin Hotel Lobby

The Battle of the Hazbin Hotel was behind them, and the hotel was rebuilt better than ever, and yet the place seemed emptier than before with the lack of Sir Pentious and the Egg Bois. Currently the staff of the hotel and one guest were sharing drinks in memory of their fallen friend.

"To Sir Pentious," Charlie raised her glass. Everyone followed suit and took a sip.

"He was the best snake I ever knew," Angel said.

"He truly committed to his own redemption," Vaggie said, not mentioning that it took him getting caught spying for Vox and Charlie offering another chance.

"We would have lost without him in the first place, turning those cannibals into an army was all his work," Husk said while cleaning a glass.

"He was the best non-bad boy I knew," Niffty commented.

"He was the best forgettable villain this hotel has ever faced." Alastor with his usual backhanded snark in reference to Sir Pentious trying to attack the hotel several times.

"He was a good friend," Charlie commented. Her father did not say anything about the sinner in question as he didn't know him all that well, other than when he had visited a few months ago.

Lucifer set his glass down on the coffee table and stood up. "Well, I need to make a phone call to Sera, to tell her that Exterminations are done, and that any angel that comes looking for trouble will find trouble."

"Think she will listen to you, Dad?" Charlie asked, thinking about how Sera didn't listen to her at the meeting.

"I think she will, considering she can not ignore the loss of both Adam and the numerous Exorcists that fell." Lucifer also had another secret reason to call Sera. He walked away from the group to the far side of the foyer, just out of earshot of everyone, especially Alastor.

He pulled out his cell phone and scrolled down through his contacts, stopping a second when he saw Lilith's name in the list. She hasn't talked to him since before she disappeared from Hell, and never answered any time he or Charlie tried to call her. Refocusing, he scrolled down to Sera. He hesitated briefly before hitting the call button. There was some history between them, good and bad, from when he was still an Archangel, before he met Lilith. Working up his courage, he hit the call button.

Heaven, High Seraphim's office

Sera rubbed her temples, in frustration. A snake demon had just dropped into her office. Not at the front gate like the other saved souls did, but in her office, it was also proof that sinners can be redeemed. The guilt of allowing Adam to carry out the exterminations was starting to hit her. Speaking of that, another thing, Lute returned bloodied, missing an arm and Adam was dead, where his soul was she did not know, whether it was in Hell or wherever the souls of sinners go when the Exorcists take them out. Suffice to say the commotion in her office was a lot when Lute walked in and saw Sir Pentious was migraine-inducing. Emily had spent the past few hours getting to know the new arrival and arguing with Lute when she arrived.

"Enough, all of you," She said to the three others. "Lute, it is clear that things are not as they seem and we will reconvene at a later time on this matter. Go see Archangel Raphael to get looked at, see if he can do something about your missing arm."

"As you wish, your highness," Lute respectfully bowed to the High Seraph, and gave a side eye to both Emily and Sir Pentious as she left. It was clear this was not over, and Sir Pentious started to get concerned.

"Don't worry, you are safe here. She won't try anything, if she wants to stay up here, right Sera?" Emily asked.

"Right," Sera answered, just to end this conversation. She needed time to think things through, and there was her own guilt to think about. Unfortunately, she would not get the time to think. Sera heard her cell phone ring, which was odd as the only people that had her number were Emily, the now deceased Adam, God, and the Morningstar brothers, including Lucifer. Looking at the caller ID, she grew reserved and cold. Answering it, "What do you want, Lucifer?" Emily heard Sera say the fallen one's name and looked over at her, hoping that Sera would tell Lucifer that Charlie's plan worked.

"It's done, Sera. The Exterminations are finished. Any angel that comes to Hell looking to cause trouble will be sent back. I will not guarantee they will be in one piece either," Lucifer told her, trying to be intimidating, but she saw through it.

"I agree, they are finished, considering we now have proof that redemption works," Sera told him. Emily smiled that Sera told him.

"What do you mean?" Lucifer asked, confused.

"Sir Pentious appeared in my office after falling in the battle, how he bypassed St. Peter I don't know," Sera shook her head. That was a big part of the mystery as to how Sir Pentious got into Heaven, particularly up to her office.

"I'll let Charlie know that the hotel works, and it seems that Father may be at play here," Lucifer said, a smirk in his voice. It did seem like something God would do as a practical joke.

"Funny you mention him, he still is on vacation. I don't know how I am going to explain all of this to him." Sera blew out her breath, she will be in the firing line when God returns for all of this, especially for letting Adam and Lute go early to Hell.

"Best of luck there, and my brothers?" Despite Dad seemingly ignoring him for all this time, once in a while Michael or Gabriel would text him about things, and he still saw Azrael once in a while when a particularly evil soul was sent down. The others didn't speak to him much.

"Helping out, here and there. Michael stands guard, Gabriel keeps running around delivering messages, and the like." Despite officially only being Archangels, the Morningstars were technically her superiors. However, they preferred to let her run things, as they each had their own jobs to do, and everything else they do around Heaven, even if Michael as eldest had most right to run things.

A long silence happened to fall between the two as Lucifer tried to work up the courage to ask what he was really calling about, and had already used the first thing as an excuse to call. Knowing the other elder angel well, Sera broke the silence first. "There is something else that you want to say, spit it out," Sera's tone was hard with Lucifer. There was bad history there.

"I want to see my daughter," it took Sera by surprise. She looked over at the other Seraphim in the room, hoping she did not hear Lucifer.

Making a quick decision, "Emily, take Sir Pentious and show him around Heaven and let St. Peter know about him not showing up at the gates."

"Sure thing, Sera. Come on Sir Pentious, you are gonna love the place," Emily was bursting with joy having a redeemed sinner around.

When Emily and the redeemed snake were out of her office, she set her phone on her desk with the speaker on, placing her hands to slick back her hair and hold her head. "How did you find out?"

"Charlie told me about her after the court meeting I arranged, and based on everything I heard, I figured it out," Lucifer told her.

"Yes, she is yours. The only good thing that came out of that mistake I made all that time ago." Sera's voice held bitterness and regret in it, in memory of things before the fall.

"Still bitter about that?" Lucifer's voice went a bit soft in regret.

"How can I not be, we were betrothed and you broke it off with me for Lilith," Sera had to stop before she lost her cool.

"I'm sorry, Sera," Lucifer said, and he did mean it.

"It's too late for that. All I want is to protect her, and let no harm come to her. She reminds me so much of you. She has your creative spirit, and your love of whimsy. She is my ball of joy. You were my Morning Star, and Emily is my…" Sera couldn't finish her sentence, the thought of anything happening to Emily hurt her too much.

"Evening Star." Lucifer finished her thought. "I understand, Charlie is my evening star that I have to protect." A moment of silence passed between both of them. "Can I see her?"

Sera bit her lip in thought, "can you promise to not tempt her to fall? And tell her nothing of this?"

"She has the right to know, Sera." Lucifer told her, not liking that Sera was keeping the truth from Emily.

"I know, I'm just not ready for that to be public," Sera was concerned about the fallout if it came to light that she had a kid with Heaven's Public enemy number one, even if it was from before his fall.

"Does anyone else know about her parentage?" Lucifer asked.

"You mean besides Raphael, if they do, I haven't been made aware. Although, I have a feeling that our creator knows, and is just waiting for me to admit it." Sera sighed, in memory of when Emily was born, just after her father's fall.

"Wait? Why Raph? Not Michael?" Lucifer asked.

"He is a doctor, Lucifer," Sera reminded him.

"Oh, right," Lucifer now understood why Raph would know and not the rest of the brothers, or his father.

Making up her mind, because she figured that Charlie would want to see Sir Pentious. "One week from today, come up."

"Wait, I can't set foot in heaven, remember?" Lucifer's memory of the day Dad kicked him out of the house coming to his mind.

"You can if I allow it," Sera grit her teeth, questioning herself if this was a good idea.

"Thanks, Sera." Lucifer ended the call. Sera sat there just looking at her phone for a moment, thinking about everything. As a gesture of good will she sent Lucifer a recent picture of both her and Emily so he would know what she looked like. Lucifer immediately texted back that he loved her already. She stood and looked out her office window over the city of righteousness. She felt the stress and guilt weighing on her, and began to wonder when the Lord would return. She now understood what Charlie had meant by drinking liquor after a hard day. Maybe a glass of wine would not hurt.

Hell

Hanging up the phone with Sera, Lucifer was overcome with shame. He did break it off with Sera when he met Lilith, but he never cheated on Sera. The only time he technically cheated on Lilith was when he was duped by both Lilith and Eve on that one. He looked across the hotel's foyer over to where Charlie was with Vaggie. Does he tell her now about Emily or what? He did have to tell her about Sir Pentious anyway, but still. He knew Charlie would be happy to have a sister, but still the thought weighed on his mind. He made his decision to tell her.

He walked over to the group of friends, sharing a rival glance at Alastor.

"Good news everyone, Charlie's plan worked. We redeemed a sinner to heaven," Luci said, full of both real and fake joy.

"What?" Everyone asked, besides Alastor, in joyous surprise. Alastor was actually surprised as he secretly wanted this place to fail for his own amusement.

"Sir Pentious made it, apparently he passed divine judgment when he died a second time," Lucifer told them.

"Then, the hotel works?" Charlie asked, a big grin on her face.

"Yes, daughter dear, it does. It seems you can do what I failed to do." Lucifer was overcome with depression at the fact that he had tried and failed to redeem souls before.

"Wait, does this mean we need to…" everyone looked at Angel.

"No, you are not killing me to get me there. Besides, I don't think I can go if Val still owns my soul," Angel said, and he also thought about his baby upstairs, Fat Nuggets.

"Valentino is an interesting being, considering his greeting of licking my arm like he did, and offering to make me one of his stars," Charlie offhandedly mentioned what had happened that day.

"Okay, someone remind me to bury him later," Lucifer did want to go over there now and kill that moth, but he had bigger things on his mind. He decided against telling Charlie about Emily in front of everyone else.

"I'll join you, taking out Valentino will be a great blow against Vox," Alastor said, getting to his feet and leaning on his microphone cane.

"Not now, I got other things on my mind," Lucifer walked over to Husk's bar, and ordered wine, and walked upstairs to the room reserved for him.

"What is with him?" Angel asked the group.

"I think one of his depressive episodes is hitting him hard." Charlie had hoped that he would come out of it, now being more involved in her life, but it did not seem to be the case.

"I think he is hiding something. He found something out during his phone call that is bigger than Pentious' fate," Husk said. In his time as a bartender, he got good at reading people.

"I'll check on him later," Charlie said, concerned about her father.

Later

Lucifer took a nap in his room after his glass of wine, and dreams came to him of the day he was kicked out of him and Lilith on the cliff side. Dad in front of him being disappointed in him, Micheal with his flaming sword at the ready, dark Azrael with scythe-lance in hand and other hand on his black sword, and the rest of the heavenly host behind them. This time, his gaze seemed to shift from his father and brothers to Sera, who was furious with him. He knew it wasn't the case at the time he fell, but this vision of past Sera was clearly with child. Then he fell off that cliff. He awoke from his nap with a fright. It took him a second to figure out where he was, and calm down when he did. Guilt was coming over him strongly. He had turned his back on his family and wound up in Hell. While he did not regret falling in love with Lilith as she and him had a good couple millenia together, and did not regret having Charlie with her. However, he did regret not being in Emily's life at all. He had to wonder what Sera told her about him, probably what Heaven thought of him, which was fair if she was trying to keep Emily safe.

"Hey Dad? Are you awake?" he heard Charlie call out from the other side of the door.

"Yes, Charlie, come in," he said. Charlie walked in with his dinner, Vaggie close behind her. "Thanks Charlie," he said as she sat the tray in his lap and he began to eat the soup that Charlie had made, it was his favorite. He knew he had to do it now, he couldn't wait any longer, his heart hurt too much to continue hiding it. He sat the tray aside, without finishing his meal.

Charlie's face grew concerned that her father was not eating all of his favorite soup. "What's going on, Dad?"

"Charlie, I need to tell you something." Lucifer said, as he clutched his apple cane, as he stood up and walked over to his window, overlooking Hell's pride ring and his castle on the far side.

"Sure thing, Dad," Charlie told him, glad that he was coming to her for help and was more invested in her hotel.

"Alone," His eyes darted over to Vaggie a second. He kinda did not want to have this matter spoken of to anyone outside of the Morningstar family.

"Vaggie and I are partners, what you need to tell me, you can say in front of her as well." Charlie stood her ground to her father, as she took her girlfriend's hand.

"Alright, but this matter stays in this room, between us. Got it?" Lucifer sighed as he sat back down on the edge of the bed. "Charlie, before I tell you this, just understand that I love you and your mother very much."

"Oh no, he cheated on your mother," Vaggie assumed, based on what she has seen in Hell.

"I did not, well, aside from being tricked that one time, but that is a different matter. That is not what I need to say. There is no easy way to say this, but, discounting your uncles, there is another Morningstar. A child of my blood." Lucifer told them.

"I have a sibling?" Charlie took the news in shock.

"Yes, but not with Lily," Lily was a nickname Lucifer used for Lilith. "You have an older sibling, from a relationship I had before I met Lilith."

"Who is it?" Charlie asked, wonder in her eyes.

"She is an angel, the happy center of heaven's light. It's your friend, the Seraphim," Lucifer told her, giving Charlie enough information to piece it together.

"Emily?" Charlie took the news with confusion and joy.

"That actually makes sense, thinking back to some interactions I had with her as an Exorcist," Vaggie said.
"Yes, I didn't know she existed until you told me about her, but she is your older sister. See, before my fall, I was betrothed to Sera, but when Earth was created and I met Lilith, I fell in love with her. Dad was not happy when I told him, but I ended my relationship with Sera and married your mother once we were down here in Hell." Lucifer looked down at the ground in memory.

"So, how does Emily fit into this?" Charlie asked, confused as to how she had a sister if her father and Sera were never married.

"Before I met Lilith, me and Sera had a night of passionate love. Sera must have been pregnant with Emily during my fall from heaven and given birth soon after," Lucifer surmised. His heart felt heavy, and he couldn't look his hell-born daughter in the eyes.

"So, what are you going to do?" Vaggie asked.

"Sera has agreed to me going up there to meet them, you should come with me, Charlie." He finally managed to look at Charlie, hoping she would not condemn him.

"I'll go with you. It'll be nice to see Sir Pentious again, and really get to know my sister," Charlie agreed.

"That's my girl, I knew you would understand," Lucifer hugged his daughter.

What they did not know was that despite the fact that the door was closed, there was a third party listener to their conversation.

Alastor had followed Charlie in secret up to her father's room and was listening in on them. Despite the fact that they did respect each other a lot, Alastor always wanted something to use to get under the Devil's skin, like when he was saying that Charlie could call him dad if she wanted to during him and Lucifer's musical duel. "How interesting," Alastor's face grinned for real, an evil grin in thought of how he would use that information. He heard Charlie and Vaggie's footsteps coming toward the door, and he disappeared in a puff of shadow and smoke before she got to the door.

Heaven, Evening

After showing Sir Pentious around Heaven and showing him where he would stay until they had gotten his housing situation sorted, Emily returned to Sera's office alone, to have words with Sera.

"Got him situated?" Sera asked Emily as she walked in.

"Yep. St. Peter was as confused as you were when I told him about the fact that he bypassed the gates, and then saw the name in his book," Emily informed her.

"Yeah, when God returns from his vacation, it will be among the top things I need to speak to him about, because I have a feeling he is the reason for it," Sera said, as she shifted some paperwork on her desk.

"Yeah, and I am telling him all about these exterminations. There is no way that he will be pleased with it, even more so now that Adam is gone. He will be very angry with you, that the talk of virtue is just pretension. Can't believe I admired you, and you let souls like Sir Pentious face second death and lied to me about it," Emily started to go off on her 'sister.' While Sera knew she had it coming, she was in no mood to handle it.

"Emily Morningstar, enough!" Sera said to get a reprieve from her secret daughter's incessant condescending attitude for allowing Adam to exterminate human souls. It was then she realized that she had slipped up, and the truth came out, and Sera realized she could not take it back now.

"You called me Morningstar, that's Charlie's last name." The smile dropped from Emily's face for one of confusion.

"Yeah, it is, and Lucifer's, and Lilith's, and his brothers. It is also yours, and was to be mine," Sera admitted, with a bitterness to it in memory.

"Wait, am I…?" Emily began to question.

"Yes, you are indeed a daughter of the Morningstar, and you are my evening star, my daughter." There, she admitted it to Emily.

"Daughter? You mean…?" Emily was at a loss for words.

"Before your father met and fell in love with the first human woman, he and I were destined lovers, betrothed you might say, until he called it off soon after we unknowingly conceived you. You are the last good thing he ever gave me, I see so much of all that made him who he was before the fall lives on in you. You have his joy, and his creativity. You have his blue eyes, and his cheeks." Sera explained, her heart hurt in thought about the memory of before the fall. She stood there at that cliff with anger in her heart at Lucifer for betraying her love. She had kept him out of the process of creation to protect him from some of the other elder angels, and his free spirit led him astray.

"But, you made me believe we were sisters," Emily said, tears welling up.

"I am sorry for that Emily, it was for your protection." Sera hoped Emily would understand why she did what she did once she knew the truth "I gave birth to you in secret after his fall. I could not come out and tell the heavenly host about you, especially after his fall, where he was labeled as Heaven's number one enemy. So, I lied. I lied to Heaven, I lied to your uncles, I lied to your grandfather, everyone. As High Seraphim, they took my word for what happened. I told them that I felt a hole in my heart after he broke up with me, and said that I went to the Well of Souls that I am allowed to access, and took a soul and made an angel out of it, resulting in you. As you grew up, I lied to you as well, that way if anyone ever questioned it, you could not spill my secret. I did what I did, because I love you as your mother. No mother worth the title would want to place their daughter in danger, and you would have been." Sera had tears in her eyes as she told the truth to Emily who took all of it in. She buried her face in hands, "please, forgive me Emily. I only wanted to protect you." Tears came forward in shame. Emily's world had cracked open, it was a lot to process.

Emily walked around Sera's desk and hugged her mother, who wrapped her up in a big hug. "I forgive you for lying to me. It also makes sense why it seems that you treat me like a child sometimes still, as you probably still see me as a baby in your arms. However, I do not forgive the exterminations, and we will work on that." Sera quietly nodded as she held Emily. "Does my father know about me?"

"He does now, it is why I had you take Sir Pentious out of here, so I could discuss it with him. He is coming up in a week to meet you, probably with your Half-Sister as well," Sera told her. Emily took it in a bit of shock to think that she had already met her half-sister and didn't even know it. Sera placed a kiss on her daughter's forehead. "Come on, my paperwork can wait until tomorrow, let's go home, daughter."

"Okay, mother," Emily replied and they left for their house.

A Week Later

Arriving at the Pearly Gates, Charlie and Lucifer stood in front of St. Peter's podium. "Hi there, can I get your name please?" Peter said like he always did to arrivals. "Wait, I know you. Charlie, how are you? Congrats on redeeming a sinner. You got another appointment with Sera?"

"Something like that, St. Peter. I think you know my Dad?" Charlie motioned to Lucifer.

Peter saw Lucifer there and began to panic. "Oh Shit!" He caught himself, "Did Sera want to see both of you?"

"She did," Lucifer's wings came out. It would help him blend in up here. Well, aside from the older angels that knew his face, human souls would mistake him for a regular Angel, probably one of his brothers, until they looked closer at his eyes. "Charlie, hold this a second. I want to try something." He handed her the gift he had brought for his other daughter. He walked up to the gates, and held a hand to them. It had been too long since he had crossed them. Lucifer pushed open the golden doors to see the golden city for the first time in forever. A bit of surprise crossed his face that he was able to open the gates on his own. It seems whatever Dad had put on the gates was gone.

After a moment and looking over his former home, "Greetings, Morning Star, and Daughter of the Morning Star." Sera and Emily arrived to see them.

"Hi Charlie," Emily greeted, bursting with joy.

"Hey Emily," Charlie responded.

"Hey, Sera," Lucifer tried to be friendly.

"Lucifer," Sera said, looking down in a bit of scorn at him. Lucifer and Sera shared a tense moment, which to an outsider would look weird based on the fact that Lucifer was tiny compared to Sera. Charlie had to wonder for a sec how this relationship worked in the past.

Knowing what his one daughter was thinking, he leaned in and whispered in her ear the answer, "she used to be shorter, about your mother's height, then when she got promoted to High Seraphim, it suited her better." As a sign of peace, Sera waved her hand at herself, and shrunk back down to her normal height for when she did not have to be Lady Regent of Heaven. She was still tall, but was more in height of where Lilith was.

Lucifer finally laid eyes on his angel daughter, dropping his cane and dropping his hat. Sera had to remark how much he looked like his brothers, especially Michael without his hat. "Emily…" Lucifer did not know what to say to her. What does one say in such a situation?

"Hey, Dad…" She greeted him. The two walked up to each other, and wordlessly embraced.

"I am so sorry, for not being there in your life, until now," Lucifer apologized to her.

"You didn't know about me, it's okay. However, it is better that you want to see me now," Emily told him, to try to ease his guilt.

"Of course I do, I'll be there whenever you need me," Lucifer said.

Sera put on a smile, "Come on, let's continue this somewhere more private." Lucifer picked up his effects, Charlie hung onto her father and the three Angels took off toward Sera and Emily's house.

Once in the privacy of the home, Lucifer gave his daughter the gift he had brought. Emily unwrapped the gift Lucifer had given her, to find it was a rubber duck with a little top hat and could back-flip, but not shoot fire.

"Some things never change, do they, Lucifer?" Sera asked, in remembrance of things before the fall.

"No, they don't, I will admit," he said sheepishly. The family spent a few hours talking about things, with Lucifer promising that he would be there for Emily and Sera to the best of his abilities.

Later

After talking for a few hours, Sera and Lucifer shared a look that told each other that they should talk alone for a bit. "Emily, why don't you take your sister and get some ice cream. I need to talk to your father alone, for a bit."

"Oh, Okay. Come on Charlie, have you ever had ice cream?" Emily asked as she pulled her sister along out the door.

"I have, just Hell's tends to be spicy as opposed to sweet," Charlie answered as the door shut behind them.

Sera stood from the couch she was sitting on. "Wine?" she offered as she crossed the room to where she kept it.

"Yes, whatever you drink, I'll take some." Lucifer took her up on the offer. Sera got two glasses out and poured a vintage red wine in both of them. She returned and handed him his glass and sat down next to him. Silence fell between the parents.

After a long moment, "I never meant to hurt you, Sera."

"You betrayed my trust, and my love. I kept you out of creation to protect you and you left me for a mortal," Sera was still hurting from his selfish choice all that time. Lucifer stayed quiet as she vented her frustrations at him. "Even when your father and Azrael were pushing you off the edge, I still had feelings for you, despite being furious with you."

"Speaking of that day, I had a dream the other day during a nap. It was back to that day, I saw everyone that was there that day, I saw your angry face, and I know it was not like this at the time, but in my dream you were late stage pregnant with Emily." He took a drink from his glass after telling her that.

"Not too far off from the truth, based on how soon it was afterward, that she was born." Sera drank from her glass. "Your brother, Raphael was funny when I showed up at his home that day."

"I can imagine what that was like. Considering how it was for us when Lilith went into labor with Charlie." He thought back to that day, what a crazy day that was.

"He took one look at me, didn't ask any questions, just helped me into his operating room, and helped me deliver Emily. He saved the questions for afterward, once he had placed Emily in my arms," Sera drank half of her glass telling him that.

"That sounds like my brother, as he is the one that taught humanity how to heal, and the one that first said: Above all else, do no harm. It's his code, and lives by it." He took a sip of his glass. "Lily left me, some time ago, and disappeared from Hell seven years back."

"You married a free spirit like her, what did you expect?" Sera asked him. It stung, but he knew he deserved it.

"Ouch, but fair," he said. "Sera, I mean it, I'll be there for Emily and you if you need me, just call for me."

"I know you will be, just seeing her seems to improve your mood," Sera remarked to him.

"I failed with Charlie, well, once she was already an adult and Lily had left. It drove me into a deep depression, I pushed her away, let her do her own thing. I made my name worthless, and no one takes her seriously as Princess of Hell, cause I do not rule as I once did. I intend to fix that, and Emily is part of that future. If the girls can work together, I think we can get more souls on the path to salvation." Lucifer downed most of the rest of his glass in guilt.

"As long as Emily is safe, I guess I can allow it. We can work out details later." She took another sip. "For now, let's leave work behind us for a moment.

Some Time Later

When the two half-sisters returned, they found their respective parents on the couch together, drinking wine, a bottle each and sharing baby pictures of the girls on their phones.

"Oh look at this one, one of the few I took when Emily still fit in my arms," It was a picture of baby Emily with her head snug in her mother's chest with her eyes closed.

"Aww, she is so cute, and I was not there for any of it," Lucifer's face dropped a second.

"Well, you are here now, that counts for something." Sera said, definitely slightly tipsy.

"I suppose so," Lucifer said. Charlie cleared her throat to get their attention, to let them know they were back. "Hey girls, you have fun out there?"

"Yeah, Charlie got a brain freeze for the first time, and it was so funny. Then we went to the zoo, and checked in with Sir Pentious." Emily said as they both sat on the empty couch.

"I love his new color design, the white suits him," Charlie said.

"Oh, our uncles are about," Emily added on, both parents grew wary.

"Probably heard either about Charlie being here or more like they heard Lucifer was back. Did they stop you?" Sera was now concerned if the girls' Uncles were getting involved.

"No, Uncle Michael and Uncle Gabriel were just standing on top of a building watching me and Charlie though. I did inform her that they were her uncles," Emily informed them. "I think it was just because they heard a hell-born was walking around the city, and were checking it out."

"I suppose I am going to have to deal with them at some point," Sera shook her head. "At least the youngest of your Uncles was not around."

Lucifer's eyes went wide in thought, "yeah, good thing he was not about."

"Who is he?" Charlie asked. Lucifer only ever talked about Micheal, Gabriel and Raphael to her most of the time.

"Azrael, the Archangel of Death," Sera told the kids.

"Oh yeah, he is not a fun fellow," Emily recalled some of the times she had to talk with the dark haired angel.

"No, he is not, and I am now afraid that one of you may end up meeting him without me there to protect you," Lucifer said.

"When you say meet him, Dad," Charlie began to ask.

"I mean meet as in because you died. It was a fear of mine when Adam was attacking the hotel that you would meet him then." Lucifer told her.

"Yeah, why did you take so long to intervene?" Charlie asked.

"It was my deal with Adam that allowed the exterminations to happen. He and the Exorcists could come down every year and do their thing, in exchange, you and the Hell-born were to be spared." Emily was not happy hearing this from her father. "When Adam broke the deal by trying to kill you, it allowed me to intervene." He left out the part about Dazzle being the "Sacrificial Lamb charge" for his help, as it was not intentional on his part.

"You let them happen?" Emily asked, angry.

Lucifer sighed, took a sip from his wine bottle, then answered the question. "Yes, because from my perspective, I gave humanity free will with the apple of Eden and they wasted it. There are some truly terrible souls in Hell, that would and could never ascend to heaven, they had to go. The rest, well, it was just part of the deal."

"Like I told you, Em, there was an uprising of damned souls that threatened Heaven. I made a call to protect you and the realm," Sera told her.

"I will back that up. That was Lilith's work, she had convinced many that they could take the gates by force if they banded together. It did not go well for them," Lucifer told them. Emily was shocked that there was an inciting incident and it was not just Sera and Adam being callous.

"So, in the wake of the uprising, Adam proposed the exterminations to keep it from happening again. I only agreed on the condition that it did not bring more trouble here, little did I know. Well, it's over now." Sera drank from her bottle. It was funny, God did not forbid alcohol, but he did hate drunkenness, and she needed to stop soon, as she could feel herself getting tipsy. "I need to put this down now."

"Yeah, I think me and Charlie need to be heading back soon. We should be gone before my brothers come looking for me." Lucifer stood up and motioned to Charlie and Emily to stand. He hugged his angelic daughter goodbye, and turned to Sera, as Charlie hugged her sister. "Are we invited back?"

"You are, I'll handle your brothers, in the event they come looking. When I hear that God is returning, I'll text you. You need to talk with him," Sera stood as well.

"Yeah, I do," Lucifer's face grew stern in thought

"He still loves you, you know," Sera tried to comfort him.

"Wish he was better about showing it," Lucifer rolled his eyes. "Alright, let me know when he is back." Sera opened a portal back to the Hotel for them and Lucifer and Charlie departed.

As the evening wore on that day, for the first time in a long while, Lucifer felt true happiness in his heart and he wore it on his face. Alastor made mental notes about this fact. He knew this was something he could use in the future, either against the King of Hell or as leverage in his deal with his benefactor. All for another day, for now, he went about his role as facilities manager of the Hazbin Hotel.

Hey everyone, I hope you enjoyed chapter one of this tale, the Evening Star. The title came to me, cause the planet Venus is known both as the Morning and Evening Star, and since Evening comes after Morning in a day cycle, it made sense to me that a child of a Morning Star is an Evening Star.
One thing I wanted to address is that I have heard that Sera and Emily are sisters in the series, not sure how true that is, and upon rewatching episode six, I found nothing to back that up, so yeah. Anyway, This was fun, and I needed this to reignite my passion for fanfic writing, but I make no promises about an update schedule. It will be added to my rotation, that I do promise.

I hope you enjoyed this first chapter and are looking forward to where we are going with this. Next time, we have a good old fashioned family reunion.
