Chapter 1-1
A psychopath.
That's what some people would call me. I'm not a crazy serial killer or anything like they portray in the media, I just don't have emotions. I would consider myself to be more pragmatic than anything. If there's something I want, I take it, no matter what. If I can't get it, I'll have someone else get it for me, one way or another. You can try and try to look through my disguise but you'll only see what I want you to see.
I was diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder when I was four. Normally, one isn't diagnosed with ASPD until they're an adult but when I was four, I exhibited traits common to that of APSD. Mom and Dad, they could've done what I assume would be the rationale thing and put me in a psych ward but no, they insisted on raising me properly. I respect them for making my life easier and teaching me how to make it through life. They were never abusive to me, they always said they loved me, and they always made sure I was taken care of. There's nothing for them to get in return for taking care of someone like me and they devout themselves wholeheartedly to raising me to fit into society, even eleven years after my first diagnosis.
I think at one point in their life, they wanted more children but since they were both born to a psychopath in their family, they feared raising more psychopathic children. I don't care either way; I'm glad I don't have siblings, makes it easier for Mom and Dad to take care of me without any distractions.
David Dante woke from his slumber in his dimly lit room. He pulls himself up and stretches his limbs out. He jumps out of bed and grabs a shirt and a pair of jeans from the closet. The shirt he chose was a raglan shirt with a red chest and black sleeves. He chose a pair of black jeans to go with his red sneakers. After dressing himself, he turns the showerhead on in his bathroom and wets his dark brown hair under the spray, bringing out the waves. He dries it off and brushes his teeth squeaky clean.
David was of average height, around five-ten, with a fair skin complexion and hazel-brown eyes to compliment his dark brown hair. His hair came out in waves and would fall down his forehead like bangs but he would use a gel to keep the front of his hair parted up so he could see his face without any obstacles. Regardless of his changing his physical appearance to keep up with his good image when the doors were closed, he had an expressionless face. His hazel-brown eyes stared off into nothingness, his smile all but nonexistent and tongue licking the back of his teeth. He practiced a smile in the mirror before walking out of the bathroom.
He headed downstairs for breakfast, jumping over the railings like he always did but this time, he almost landed on top of his father sitting at the kitchen table.
"Dad," David acknowledged.
His father, Jim Dante, acknowledged his son, unfazed by his son almost landing on him. "Son," he said cheerfully, "Still doing your daily routine of jumping over the railings?"
"Yes," David replies, "just doing what any normal kid is doing… assuming that's what they do."
"Everyone's got their own quirks." Jim dipped an Oero into his coffee before sinking his teeth into it.
David inherited his hair color from his 40-year-old father but unlike his, his father's hair came straight with some half-inch bangs coming over his forehead. He also had a smile on his face, one that wasn't practiced in front of the mirror.
His mother, Misa Dante, came out of the kitchen with a plate of scrambled eggs for him. "I made breakfast for you."
Misa Dante was a beautiful 40-year-old woman with light brown hair that came out in curls along with a neutral complexion. She had a soft smile on her face as she held out the plate of toast, eggs, and bacon for her only child.
If I don't say 'thank you' then I would be seen as impolite. I don't want people to think I'm impolite, not yet.
"Thank you, Mother," he said as he took the plate. "I'll eat it on my way to school."
"Dr. Hamilton wanted to drop you off at school today," Misa told him. "He wants to evaluate you on your social skills."
"What?"
"This works out; you don't have to leave as early and I don't have to worry about you shattering my plate."
David shrugs. "Sure. I bet the good doctor'll like what I can do."
Dr. Hamilton is my psychologist, he's the one who unofficially diagnosed me with Antisocial Personality Disorder in the first place when I was four. How would I describe him? I would say he's amusing and entertaining but he can be really annoying sometimes. If anything, I'm fascinated by the fact he's able to diagnose me like an open book. He says that me licking my lips is when I feel like I'm going to lash out and hurt someone. I wish to read people like open books one day. Too bad I don't have telepathy.
"I sure hope so. It's not often you find a psychologist willing to work with you for free and give you tips on how to survive in this world."
"I know how to survive this world, Mom; I've killed." He holds his free hand up in surrender. "I've only put down dogs humanely at the pound."
"I remember when I had to kill my dog," Jim begins, "it was a mercy kill."
Why do Mother and Father go out of their way to save me? It confuses me as to why they bother saving someone who doesn't love them back.
"When does he get here?" he asked.
"In five minutes," Jim said after checking his watch, "So you better finish your breakfast."
"Put the 'fast' in break- fast ." David looked at the plate of scrambled eggs. He felt like crushing the plate into glass.
I wonder what would happen if I smashed this glass plate against the ground. That'll most certainly put the 'break' in 'breakfast'. I know it will break but I'm curious as to who will clean up. Knowing who will clean up any glass I break will certainly come in handy in the future.
David finished his breakfast before there was a knock on the door. David answered the door and Dr. Barton Hamilton stood in the doorway.
Barton Hamilton was a tall man at 44 with a recently shaved face. He had short black hair combed back with square glasses and wore a suit and a green tie.
"Barton," David said.
Call him Dr. Hamilton, it's respectful.
"Dr. Hamilton…" he said with fake enthusiasm.
"Ready for school?" the middle-aged man asked.
"Like any other day of the year, school is tolerable." He grabs his backpack from the chair beside him before walking out the door.
"Love you," Jim and Misa said.
"Love you too," David said absentmindedly.
In the car, Dr. Hamilton drove him to school. David sat in the passenger's seat and stared blankly out the window. They drove past a school bus heading in the direction of David's school.
School can get boring, which is why I find entertainment in other human beings.
A boy looks out the window of the bus.
Eddie Brock. He's a cool guy. He's not bland or dry or inappropriate like most kids are. He's the only one whose conversations I can put up with but between the two of us, he is pretty emotional, even for a regular human. Still, whatever makes the day less boring. He is an only child, has been my friend since eighth grade, is impressionable, loyal, and has nerves of steel.
Then he spotted a girl with golden blonde hair.
Now Felicia Hardy, on the other hand, is a different story. She is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. She moved into my neighborhood about a year ago and she stole my heartless heart. She's no pushover and out of the six classes we suffer through in school, we share four classes together. She is my dream girl; everything about her is perfect. Her eyes, her skin, her hair, her lips, her breasts, her ass, like every inch of her body was made just for me and I blush at the sight of her every time. If there is one thing I would like to change about her, it's her hair. She dyed her hair recently a golden blonde color which just looks unnatural on her. I miss her platinum blonde hair. Maybe when we're alone, I'll douse her with water and return her to her natural hair color.
David's blush did not go unnoticed by Hamilton. Both the car and bus stopped at a stoplight and Hamilton used this opportunity.
"See someone you like?"
David did not turn to face the good doctor, focusing entirely on Felicia. "Of course."
Hamilton sighed. "Any people you're close to in school?"
"Felicia Hardy and Eddie Brock. One is very beautiful, the other is very tolerable."
"How have your grades been in school?" he asked.
"Average," David answered, "Bs and Cs, just as planned. It is so easy to get the grade you want when you know what the answers are."
"Any subjects that interest you?"
David thought for a second. "Forensics."
"Why?"
"We're learning about profiling and I'm fairly interested in that subject. It hits a certain note with me that I can't explain. I think it's the human mind." He licked the back of his lips. "The human mind fascinates me with its ideological beliefs and weird ways of thinking. I'm most interested in learning about the human mind in criminals. So far, I think my 'dream' career path would be profiling."
"Ahh, profiling. So, you'll be profiling criminals for the police?"
"Yes. Humans can be such creative and imaginative creatures. I'm eager to learn what these humans can concoct."
"Have you been having any more of your fantasies?" He paused. "About killing?"
David licked his lips. "Well, it's hard not to think about killing those annoying people in school, especially the ones who annoy me on purpose. I know that they are just kids but, they are all the same with no taste or personality and it annoys me. I like Felicia and Eddie so they're the sole exception. By far, they're the only people I don't fantasize about killing."
"We've talked about this, David," Hamilton said, "Killing people is too much work; you have to think about the consequences afterward. I've known your parents for a long time and it would break their hearts if you ended up in prison."
"Don't worry, I know that killing people is incredibly irrational." He sighed. "Not only that but cleaning up after the murder would be a major hassle. Eh, I'm too lazy to kill a human being I think."
I'm not fond of the idea of going to prison. If I go to prison, they might give me The Needle or send me to hell through Old Sparky. In the best-case scenario, I go to a psych ward. Even if they didn't execute me and just tossed me in a cell and threw away the key, I would still find the experience to be dull. Maybe having parents who care for a soulless creature like myself is necessary to avoid a prison cell. At least in my mind, there is no difference between prison, The Needle, Old Sparky, and a mental asylum.
"Next time I feel like killing someone, I will say something."
"Good." Hamilton patted David on the shoulder.
"And then we can go to the pound and I can put down dogs 'humanely'.'
The pound is the one place where I can put down dogs and it would be considered humane, apparently.
Hamilton dropped David off in the school parking lot and David met up with Eddie as he disembarked from the bus with everybody.
Eddie Brock was of average height and the same age as David. He had short and light brown hair with bright brown eyes. He was dressed in a pair of jeans and black shoes. For his top, he wore an unbuttoned black shirt over a white tee.
Eddie approached David with a smile. "You remember what today is, right?"
David drew a blank. "Tuesday?"
"No," Eddie said, "The science department from Empire State University is visiting us. They brought some of their science displays from the university with them. During lunch, we're getting a whole hour with the science department. That should be fun."
"Will it impact our grades in any way?" David asked.
"No, we are just going for fun," Eddie answered, "There's something wrong with you if you have no taste for the thrill."
David caught sight of Felicia getting off the bus.
You have spoken too soon, Eddie Brock. Begone so I can walk up to this majestic creature.
"I just have a different taste than what normal people are used to," he said, "I'll be right back."
David walks past Eddie to follow Felicia as she follows the crowd of students into the school. David was behind her and was about to make her move before he was interrupted.
"What do we have here, boys? A fucking worthless rat."
David looks over his shoulder and spots three boys, all taller than him, being seniors, with skateboards under their arms.
The one who spoke was Allan, a boy about six feet tall and wearing a green shirt. The two boys beside him, Robert and Oliver, wore a brown trenchcoat and yellow shirt with blue sleeves. They all looked at David with malicious looks on their faces.
"Allan, Robert, Oliver, what's up, you walking piles of horseshit."
"Shut up," Allan snapped, "what's got you so frustrated, your mother turned to the life of a whore?"
"Who'd want to fuck his mom?" Robert asked. "I've seen what Davey's mother looks like; she is fucking ugly. Like ' ugly' ugly."
"I bet the doctors slapped her when she gave birth to David," Oliver added. "Just for being ugly."
David's shoulders locked up. "Please, leave me alone."
Allan, Robert, and Oliver, the three high school bullies as sociopathic as they are stupid. I would love nothing more than to shove my fist into their faces but when they realize their antics have no effect on me, they'll start changing their methods. It'll be easier to just pretend to be weak and then they'll leave me be. They'll use predictable methods on me, ones I can simply ignore or slowly but surely build up defenses against.
Allan grabbed him by the front of his hair. "Give us all the money in your wallet, you pansy-assed fuckbag."
Eddie moved in and shoved Allan back. "Leave him alone."
"Fuck you, Brock."
David clenched his fists and turned away from the three bullies. He walked toward his homeroom and Eddie caught up to him.
"Those guys are a bunch of jackasses," Eddie said. "We gotta do something about them; I heard they carry knives and cut those who don't pay them 'rent'."
"One of these days, someone is going to teach them a lesson and I pray that day will come soon and it will be me."
David and Eddie went to the same class and sat at desks next to each other. David's eyes lit up when he realized that Felicia sat down at the desk in front of him.
She's usually three seats up and to the right of me but she's sitting in front of me. This day just got better. It's destiny. Normal humans would be shaking in their boots from terror but not me. Not David Dante.
David licks his hand and rubs it through his dark brown hair. He leans forward and he taps Felicia on the back. She faces him with an expressionless look on her face. She wore a black leather jacket, which she removed almost instantly when she sat in her chair. She was now wearing a grayish-brown shirt with light gray pants. One notable detail David noticed was that she had a gold bracelet on her left wrist, a diamond necklace around her neck, and fingernails painted white.
Now's my chance.
"Hello, Felicia," he said in his fake polite voice that he copied from voice actors on TV, "Can I just say that you have the most lovely platinum blonde hair I've ever seen?"
Felicia Hardy, daughter of Walter and Lydia Hardy, has a younger brother, and a taste for fine dining and expensive jewelry. Has a habit of stealing pencils and other minor items for seemingly no reason at all. She acts like a tough bitch and constantly rejects people asking her out. Well, I profiled the people she rejected and found common factors that turned her off. All I gotta do is avoid her turn-off factors and charm her with the factors she does appear to be attracted by.
"Do we know each other?" she asked for the first time after three seconds of awkward silence.
"David Dante. Classmates, acquaintances..."
"Nope, don't know who you are."
"You keep saying that but I can tell you remember. It's okay, I like saying my name aloud so you can keep asking for my name as many times as you want."
"Narcissist."
Damn, confidence is the one thing I need to work on. Come across as too confident or overconfident, I sound like a self-absorbed egomaniac.
"Not narcissism, confidence; I'm the most confident guy you'll ever meet."
Felicia studied the look on David's face: A completely fake smile mixed with superficial charm. "What are you trying to accomplish, Davey?"
'Davey', she gave me a nickname! I have to give her a nickname to make things even.
"I just want to get to know you, become your friend, maybe finally get a girlfriend, Party-Hardy."
"You're trying a little too hard, 'David'; try going a little softer so we can establish a relationship."
Relationship...as in boyfriend and girlfriend? Good, it's working.
"I was hoping you'd say something like that. Does that mean you're going to stop pretending you don't remember me?"
She shook her head. "Already forgetting you, David." She turned around without wasting another second.
"At least you remembered my name." He sank back into his seat.
The teacher started handing out worksheets to start the day off. David took out a pencil and started scribbling the answers down.
I so can't wait to meet up with her at lunch. She's a vegetarian who hates eating meat. I'll approach her, pretending to be a vegetarian, and it'll capture her interest. Not only that, but I'll pretend that I have a taste for fancy food.
Hours passed and it was finally time for lunch. David had a routine when it came to school. He would grab his lunch from the cafeteria and then sit in the corner at a table with only Eddie. He didn't trust other people so he made sure there were only two chairs for him and Eddie when lunch came and when someone came over, David told them off. They shouldn't be eating lunch together but David always valued a good meal before something exciting happened so he wolfed down his chicken burger and fries before tossing the tray in the trash. He and Eddie grabbed their backpacks and headed off to the auditorium, where the Empire State University Science Department was giving a job presentation.
David counted about ten different job types present in the auditorium and the auditorium was full of about half the amount of kids from the cafeteria. David liked large crowds, he could blend in and nobody could say so otherwise. He wasn't interested in the jobs on display, only looking for Felicia.
If I find out what Felicia likes, I can use that to my advantage.
"You know," David said as he walked beside Eddie, "Science isn't my gig but I guess I can manage for a few minutes or so. I just want to meet Felicia."
"You have a massive crush on Felicia," Eddie noted, "It's borderline creepy, like a stalker's crush."
"She's the only one who doesn't bug me at school. And I love her tough chick persona. I feel drawn to her like a moth to the flame."
"But don't get too close or else you'll get burned," Eddie warned as he pulled out a pack of M&Ms from his backpack. "Women can make a man do crazy things."
"A man shouldn't have to do crazy things for a woman."
Otherwise, they'd be insane. I know what I want with Felicia but I need to make sure I don't go overboard with it or I will be looked upon with suspicion.
One of the job presentations they passed involved someone bringing a glass box of spiders. An Asian girl approached this display and met up with the middle-aged man presenting the spiders. She looked at the display case to see maybe fourteen or fifteen spiders inside and she put her hand on the box.
Unbeknownst to her, there was a spider that got out and was crawling down her leg.
"Do you have any plans for when you get out of high school?" Eddie asked the absentminded David, whose eyes wandered through the auditorium. His sole task was on finding Felicia and not even Eddie's questions could snap him out of his trance. "You have to focus on something else besides Felicia. What plans do you have for when you get out of high school."
Eddie is starting to get annoying. Maybe I should end our friendship here. But he is the only person tolerable at this school and humans are by nature, curious creatures. Okay, I'll quench his curious nature; that should shut him up for now.
"Empire State University sounds good.'
I've never been interested in school or college; it was just something I had to get through because I'm a human creature. But, if I want my job as a profiler, then I need to get as much education from ESU as possible. If I wanted to, I could get into any college I want; I'm a straight-A student when I want to be.
"What are you going to major in?" Eddie asked.
"Psychology," David answered. "I've always been drawn to the mind of a psychopath for some reason. Possibly because the mind of a psychopath is much different than a regular human being's."
"You talk like you're not a regular human," Eddie said as he studied David. "I want to major in journalism."
Before David could respond, he fell head over his heels on the ground. The three bullies from earlier, Allan, Robert, and Oliver, laughed at the sight of David on the ground.
"You guys again," Eddie said to the three, "Pick on someone your size."
"What are you going to do, Eddie?" Allan asked.
"I'll kick your guys' ass if you mess with David," Eddie declared.
"That can be arranged," Robert said, "Let's meet after school."
A teacher stepped up to the five and put a hand on Allan's shoulder. "What is going on here?" Nobody ratted the other out. "If this continues, all five of you will be suspended." She helps David up to his feet. "Behave."
David and Eddie received the message and they walked away from the three bullies. "What jerks," Eddie commented.
"They're worthless," David said, "not worth mentioning."
I would give Eddie's head to be able to kill those three.
Back at the spider display, the Asian girl counted how many spiders were in the display box.
"There's twelve," she told the presenter.
The presenter looked at her with a confused look. "There should be thirteen."
"No, there's twelve. Count for yourself."
The presenter did just that and bit his lip when he realized there were twelve spiders. He then sighed. "It's okay, we were experimenting with optical camouflage for one of the spiders so maybe they're invisible."
The presenter spoke up once more. "At ESU, we've been conducting some research on spiders. We've spent five painstaking years researching spiders because spiders are ideal candidates for a new set of species. Our motive is to evolve humanity over time to survive but we need to test how we can evolve a non-human species. Spiders come in handy. Each spider you see is one that has either evolved or mutated from its original state. The jumping spider's leaping distance is greater than average and the spider's camouflage ability is advanced, so much that you need a sharp eye to spot them. At ESU, we offer humanity a chance to change the future."
The Asian girl nodded. "Sounds interesting." She reached down and massaged her ankle.
David approached Felicia as she stood in front of an exhibit with cooked food. From what David inferred, ESU was also testing genetic research on food like steak and they were cooking and serving enough steak to feed a small army. Either that or they were testing genetic research on cows and studying the outcome of the food. Either way, the steak looked delicious and there seemed to be plenty to go around for everyone. Had David not been pursuing Felicia, he would've asked for a steak right off the grill from ESU.
"Looks delicious, doesn't it?" Felicia said to David without acknowledging him. "I know you're behind me."
David didn't even realize that he was standing behind Felicia, he was just drawn to the smell of steak. "I like the smell of steak but I'll take a can of caviar over steak any day of the week."
"They performed animal testing on these cows, which is animal cruelty."
"It could be worse."
I'm not allowed around dogs but the only people who need to know that are the people helping me blend in in life, namely Mom, Dad, and Doc Hamilton.
"But animal cruelty is animal cruelty and we should stop." He smirked. "Also, I just want to say that cutting down trees to make worksheets is tree cruelty. We need to end tree cruelty." He looked over at Felicia, his smirk turning into a smile when he saw her scoff at him.
"Glad to know we finally agreed on something." She looked at him, "What are you doing here anyway? I know you didn't come here for the steaks."
I should've. Food is tasty but I've always wanted to know what a woman tastes like.
"Came to talk to ya. You think you can pretend to not know who I am and get away with it?"
"I guess I'll have to try extra harder to forget who you are."
"What do you have against me? I'm not a jackass like Allan and his younger brother, Ryan, I'm not too kind and nice like Eddie, I don't break down in babbling like Eddie, I don't bully people like Allan, I don't-"
"I couldn't help but notice that you're only listing two people." She looked him in the eye. "Are you so lonely that you can only name two people in this school?"
"No, of course not."
Any regular human would've been trembling in his shoes with their crush making full conversations with them, but not me. When everyone panics, I stay calm and rational. I will admit, it is funny as hell to see such composed people break down in stutters over a girl. Maybe after this day is over, I'll send Eddie's crush over to him and watch him break down stuttering.
Felicia turned away. "I don't blame you, I hate this crowd too. Especially the people eating this steak."
"Like you don't eat steak," David scoffed.
"I don't eat food made from a living animal."
David narrowed his eyes at her. "To each their own I guess, right?"
You may have everyone fooled with your anti-animal cruelty belief, Felicia, but I know the truth. Last time I checked, your grandfather is rich and you and your family enjoy eating fancy food, most of which is made from living animals. I can't wait to exploit this little detail in the future.
Things were starting to become awkward. Not once had Felicia turned to face David nor did he do anything but stand there like an idiot not knowing what to say. He liked to consider himself to be silver-tongued but it was not going to work in this case. Even a single utterance of two words would make things even more awkward and possibly cringe.
Eddie had separated earlier from David to look at the spider presentation. Eventually, he got bored and decided to regroup with David. He walked in their direction before he bumped shoulders with someone. He was about to get angry and upset until he realized that bumped shoulders with a blonde girl.
Not just any blonde woman, Anne Weying, wearing a blue blouse with khaki pants and a backpack with one strap.
"I am so sorry," Eddie blushed, "I did not see where I was going, please forgive me."
"Eddie," Anne began, "I already forgive you so there's no reason to be melodramatic."
"Promise?" he asked.
"Of course, what's there to be embarrassed about; we're all human."
Eddie would've liked to say because he bumped into his crush by accident but saying that would be awkward and cause a lot of blushing between the two so he decided to be formal. "I try to be superhuman sometimes."
"Don't be superhuman," Anne said, "Just be regular Eddie Brock, people will like you for it."
Eddie blushed and smirked at the remark. To Eddie Brock, Anne was a perfect human being. He had a crush on Anne before he even liked girls. There have been other pretty girls but none of them could match Anne. Now he knew what David felt like around Felicia except to a lesser degree.
The awkward silence continued between David and Felicia. David, however, was feeling brave and he decided to step forward and stand beside Felicia as she looked at the people being served.
The spider that escaped had climbed down the legs of an Asian girl and evaded the crowd before scaling up a wall, spinning a web, and watching the crowd beneath it. Its eight eyes gazed over the large crowd of people, its instinct to snap at any one of them and drain their blood. It already got its first taste of human blood and it wanted more, craving the taste of bleed, needing it, practically feeling like it was going to die without it. It just had to be patient and wait.
After Felicia left, David grabbed a bite of steak and was saved by the bell. In school, when you're in an awkward situation when there's no chance of coming out alive, the only thing that could save you is the bell. This was the case with David because he could not think of anything else to say and the awkward silence was awkward as it was enough.
I didn't exactly get to talk to Felicia the way I wanted but I guess beggars can't be choosers. Next time, I'll have her wrapped around my finger. I just need to find out more about her then I exploit it. She'll be my girlfriend before the school year is out.
The whole crowd started moving towards the exits and the guest speakers started packing up.
Had it been kindergarten, the students in the auditorium would've walked out in a single file line. This was not the case, they just pulled out of the doors like zombies. David felt at peace upon blending in with the crowd because when you're part of a crowd, nobody looks at one thing but the whole.
Tomorrow is a half-day, which means I'll have more time to plan things out. Just get through the boring schoolwork as usual and then find Felicia. Find out whatever I can about her and then manipulate her into falling for me. Maybe I can use Eddie as a fall guy in case I get caught. I can say something like 'Eddie told me to act this way because it'll make her more attracted to me'. Seems believable, Eddie has always been much more passionate than I and I always present myself as a semi-weak-willed person to bullies so my statement will have more depth and weight. Good.
If not, then it's not the end of the world. After all, there are other fish in the sea and who knows, they might be more interesting than Felicia.
The spider was getting anxious. The spider built its spider web above one of the doors leading into the auditorium and crowds of kids were piling out. It could jump with all the strength in its legs and have a good chance of landing on one person's head. It lowered itself down the web and lowered until it ran out of webbing.
Any of these walking pieces of flesh could become a free sample for the spider to try human blood for the first time and the spider wasn't being picky.
It had found its target. It let go of the web and fell. A shortfall but anybody with a spider's perspective would see that it was worth it. No matter where it fell, it had the advantage of quick reflexes and spider-sense to evade the stampede of teens. Even so, it landed on the shoulder of one student and bounced off. It had to react quickly or it would miss the opportunity of a lifetime. The spider slid down the student's arm and dug its appendages into the skin of his hand. Without thinking, the spider bit down as hard as it could.
David Dante gasps in pain and instinctively slaps his hand down on his pain-ridden hand. When he looked at what caused him to suddenly jump, all he saw were two red dots on the back of his right hand right between his thumb and index finger. He couldn't stop moving but he swore he saw an insect fall to the ground in his shoes. He could only infer what had bitten him but he felt a rush of adrenaline.
Son of a bitch spider.
The spider did it. It had gotten its wish. It had gotten its taste of human blood once again, tasting like Heaven and this, it was almost unquenchable and hungry for more. It wanted to take another bite but this spider was clinging onto the jeans of his victim and his fangs wouldn't pierce through clothing materials. There were plenty of humans to choose from but it suddenly felt weird. It felt like someone was stomping on it without actually stomping.
The spider's spider-sense did not save him when David found the spider and held him in the palm of his hand.
"Goddamn spider."
He crushes the spider in the palm of his hand.
